The colonial style tea lounge was quite scenic
1. Hand towels, toilet rolls and quite a few basic amenities were missing when we checked in. we had to call the reception to request them.
2. The bathrooms are not very clean with mould everywhere including on the hair dryer
3. Food quality can be improved. Buffer breakfast spread was limited and the different buffet items were not placed ergonomically.
4. Bedsheet was stained.

Staff is very polite and cooperative. Always happy to help.
Very close to sinh sadan from where the safari rides start.
Food quality and choices are very good.
Views of hills and river from second floor room balconies are very good.
Some bad odour coming from bathroom.
Swimming pool depth appears to be shallow.
No elevator in the premises is big negative.

It's worth it .the best property I have stayed
Comfortable rooms with good air conditioning.
Smoking was limited to one area, which may not have always been safe. We heard a leopard just the other side of the property wall. No lift to upper floors.

Slight issues with room adjustments. Trying to add another member into our room seemed to cause quite a problem. Majority of hotels and resorts dont cause any issues. Also the title while booking says ' deluxe room with balcony river view. There was no river. Some of the staff were quite cheeky. Passing sly comments.

The stay was good right until the end when the staffed charged us for food that they said was complimentary. And the food packaging was done so horribly that it nearly spoiled our car seat while travelling. Very disappointing from a IHCL group property

Tips this is a general thing in India. They should add a service charge to all bills, an option at the end to tip or a tip box that gets distributed amongst all staff.
No lift a hotel of this standard needs a lift of the elderly
Would be great if the excursion staff contacted the guests to help book the safari before arrival. How to book, where, options and suggestions. Not after we arrived

Hotel staff friendly , supportive and very professional.
For safaris in Gir forest, Milan is very helpful as he organized multiple Jeep safaris and ensured that guests have good wildlife sightings.
Spa service is excellent.

U think hotel is running on budget, probably masalchi was the main chef in absence of chef. Cockroaches in food and everything was stale. Went with my pet as described by the hotel in booking will look after the pet during proposed safari. There was no arrangements. Unkept gardens. Unlike a taj property.
Waiter were running the show.

He was right as the wind chill reduced the temperature, we were very thankful for that person’s( sadly did not get his name) helpful attitude

Reviewed Jan 17, 2025The hotel has an excellent location right beside the sinh sadan and is within the forest area itself. The property is little old and some of the area require restoration but repair has been restricted by environment ministry due to its proximity to the core area of the jungle. The rooms are well furnished and have a beautiful sit outs. The Dining area itself gives you a terrific view of the jungle and you can easily hear jungle sounds and lion roars.
Renovation of property would make a big difference.

Reviewed Jan 15, 2025Booked this hotel as it was advertised as a 5 star hotel. Upon arrival we noticed how outdated and unclean the reception, bedrooms, dining hall and swimming pool were. The 2 rooms we booked were not maintained at all, as it broken cabinets, the tvs weren’t working (because the staff hadn’t bothered to renew the subscriptions for all the channels prior to our arrival) and the deposit safe was completely loose in the cupboard which meant that anyone could have carried it out of the room. The supposed ‘spa’ that was mentioned contained barely any working facilities, and the massage and steam room was just a lazily converted bedroom, with the bathroom being converted into a tiny steam room. The spa as a whole was no where near the levels as that of 5 star hotel. The only positives about the hotel were its great location, and its well maintained garden area. We expected a lot more from a hotel in the ‘Taj’ group of hotels, and it feels like this hotel should be barely given a 3 star rating.
The location, the layout and the rooms. It’s just next to the safari booking office and therefore very convenient. Cleanliness is excellent. Restaurant has got decent options. Very peaceful and green.
There wasn’t anything not to like, but the restroom needs to have clothes hangers

It was overpriced for where it is located. Almost the same rate as a 4 star hotel in south Mumbai.
Quite location. Wanted to stay for four nights. But cut to three nights. They were kind enough to adjust.
Food. It is quite horrible. You need to change the entire cooking staff. It is spoiled and not cooked well. The cook seems to be in hurry. Atleast the manager needs to taste and check. I feel they are also afraid of the food.

Staff makes your stay comfortable and relaxed. Right from reception to kitchen staff everyone was very good. We must give special thank to Moumita and Apu for making our evening enjoyable. They have arranged musical night. They both sings very well and I have also tried to sing first time. Overall very good experience.

Reviewed May 15, 2024Property is good. Though it’s not new but well maintained. It’s close to the Gir Safari ticket reservation centre. Pool was good but the TT rackets were not good. Overall the stay was great. The kitchen staff was very good and so was the food.

Reviewed Mar 25, 2024Bang on location. Stone throw away from where we start the jungle safaris Pool was good. But no staff for pool side towels etc. Food was good. Staff very courteous and helpful.
Property needs complete revamp. They still reek of Govt hotel like feel. Quite basic room and amenities for the bomb they are charging. Room was quite small. Interiors pretty ordinary. Bathroom even smaller. Shower etc need lot of maintenance work. Hotel lacks much in kids play zone. Never opting for IHCL SeleQtions again. All these properties have these common theme of revamping old hotels or guest houses and they are generally not upto mark for a Taj Brand.

In winter it's very necessary for HOT water in the shower and faucet. For the money we paid it was not worth it, at best this is a good 3 star hotel.

Highly recommended stay.
This place is just 2 mins from the safari booking. Beautifully nestled inside the forest. Feels like a homestay for relaxation. All the staff were extremely warm and polite.
Sumi Rai from the spa. She needs to be warm and not mechanical.

One wing needs total revamp and should not be given out till fully revamped. We were shifted to the renovated wing after we complained about the bathroom condition. Our other family members who were in the old wing had to call maintainence team midnight due to stench from the bathroom. The Taj Brand will take a beating if these issues are not attended.

Property is not maintained to Taj standards. The area is not clean. The gym is a small room with lizards roaming in. Pool also is not very clean. Room and property decor left a lot to be desired.
