Reviewed Mar 18, 2026Das Hotel hat einen etwas morbiden Charme. Am Pool gab es nur eine Liege ohne Auflagen, musste man nachfragen. Die Polster waren zerschlissen. Es liegt in der zweiten Reihe zum Strand.

Reviewed Mar 13, 2026This venue has the most beautiful views - especially from the Top Level! Very good value, indeed! Rooms are also lovely and the sound of the ocean is fantastic! The hostess Elvia, is also very kind and accommodating. I am surprised that is only has a 3-star rating as per Booking.com's review system. It does definitely exceed that.
The stairs to go upstairs to the 1st floor are extremely steep and could definitely be revamped. I did not enjoy those. A little welcome chocolate could also be nice(just as a nice touch).

Reviewed Mar 4, 2026Heys from the planning I booked online, and confirmation was prompt. When I arrived aunty Elvina was so kind and courteous. Her hospitality/house keeping team ironed my clothes and were kind and warm. In the morning I had an option for paying in for breakfast which was very filling and fresh. Aunt Elvina also suggested some lovely restaurants to visit. The place is clean smells nice, beds are comfortable it's very Home cosy. Close proximity to amenities but also peaceful and restoring away from noise and night life. Safe environment 😀 😍

The rooms are non-smoking, but the smoking area is in front of the room where we stayed. We had to close the door numerous times but could not keep the smoke out. Please consider another smoking area.

Reviewed Mar 2, 2026Visited with my daughter for the night to go watch Black Coffee at the Ostrich farm. Alvia welcomed us with open arms and was super helpful and made us feel very comfortable. Breakfast was a great add on. The room we booked had a microwave, fridge, etc and everything you need.
The mission to get to and from The Ostritch farm. Ubers wait for you to book priority which costs you double and coming home was super expensive too. Would love to come back and explore Melkbosstrand and stay at the Sand Castle again.

Reviewed Feb 10, 2026The host, Dirk, was very attentive and very helpful. The bedroom had a seaview, was spacious, well equipped, very clean and the bathroom had a roomy shower. There were facilities to bring food in to eat, dishes and crockery provided, also fresh water available. Breakfast was plentiful, cereals, fruit, yogurt and a hot choice every day as well as toast, butter jams etc. Lovely coffee from the machine too. Lots of small chill out areas around the guest house as well as a pool and 2 covered terrace areas. About a 15 minute walk to many bars, restaurants and shops although booking is recommended at restaurants at the weekend as the town is busy Saturday and Sunday. The beach is just around the corner and stretches for several kilometres so very popular for locals walking their dogs. A great way to work off the big breakfast.
Nothing not to like although the staircase to the upper bedrooms could pose a problem for people with mobility issues

WE WERE ALLOCATED 3 ROOMS - 3, 4 UPSTAIRS AND 8 DOWNSTAIRS. WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER IF WE COULD BE ON ONE FLOOR. ROOM 3 DID NOT HAVE A MICROWAVE OR A FRIDGE MAKING IT A BIT INCONVENIENT ROOM 4 TOILET WAS LOOSE AND THE QUILT ON THE BED HAD DIRTY STAINS THE COMMUNAL MICROWAVE WAS NOT WORKING UPSTAIRS . WAS NOISY SO WE DIDNT USE IT. ROOM 3 HAD TO USE ROOM 4 MICROWAVE. TOWELS ARE NOT CHANGED EVERYDAY, WHEN CLEANERS CLEAN THE BATHROOM TOWELS ARE MIXED SO WE COULDNT USE THEM. ENDED UP USING SWIMMING TOWELS STAIRCASE LEADING TO ROOMS 3 AND 4 IS NOT SAFE. FOR THE PRICE WE PAID I WOULD NOT THINK THAT WE GOT VALUE FOR OUR MONEY. WE HAD A FAMILY EMERGENCY TO ATTEND TO IN THE NORTHERN CAPE. WE REQUESTED A POSTPONEMENT OR REFUND ON 19 NOV AND AGAIN 2 DAYS BEFORE OUR BOOKING BUT DIRK WAS NOT VERY ACCOMMODATING. WE HAD TO MAKE USE OF THE BOOKING IN ORDER TO NOT LOSE OUR MONEY AND ATTEND TO OUR EMERGENCY LATER. HE INFORMED ME THAT WE WILL LOOSE OUR MONEY R21400.00.

Reviewed Jan 2, 2026The location was perfect, very close to the beach and we also had a choice of just relaxing and enjoying the pool. The pool oasis was a delight, very beautiful. Our room was at the ground floor so easy access to the pool. We had access to the kitchen and all levels of the guest house and could enjoyed the view of the sunset.
Lol, we had coffee and tea facility in the room but noticed that the person that cleaned room might have used the same cloth or used Mr min or some cleaning chemicals to wipe the or shine the cups and water glasses. Not 100% but when returning from the beach my husband wanted to use a glass for water and noticed this.
