Location.
Over priced. No complimentary toiletries in bathroom. Disabled access limited.
the breakfast was good, lots of choice of cereal, teas etc, even offering porridge! lots of hot water. sink big enough to wash my hair in. 'comfortable' chairs in the room. Dinners were delicious, tried the option of the Tai food and liked it.
There was no light over the table and 'comfy' chairs, so couldn't sit there aftr dark. no light near the wardrobe. No coat hooks or hooks in bathroom. there were cups not mugs in the room and the fingers of coffee make enough for a mug. The carvery was a bit chaotic; the meat was fine, the stuffing was hopeless, the roast potatoes were not cooked, the sliced potatoes were at the wrong end as was the gravy, the wrong impliments were in the veg. dishes.
The dinner was excellent. There were good options for many kinds of food and we recommend the grill which was a very good one, as it should be!
Ahhh ... it's an old building and I'm afraid we could have used a lift. But this is as it is. No actual complain ...
The staff were attentive, polite, friendly and knowledgable. The evening meal was served with generous portions and value for money. The hotel downstairs was well presented with lovely decor.
The previous occupants had a dog in the room that we stayed in and the carpet was covered in dog hair and stains. In the morning, there wasn’t any hot water so unable to shower. Boiled the kettle for a wash! Reception started at 9 o’clock and when we were able to report it, we were told they’d call someone to fix it, but we were checking out after an overnight stay. No real apology given.
We loved the decor of the downstairs. The meal we had in the restaurant was delicious and a very generous portion. Our room was a good size for a superior room. It was only a very short walk to either the seafront or the town centre.
We felt that our room was very basic compared to the decor downstairs. The carpets in the corridors were quite stained and there was an unpleasant smell in them aswell. We were overall pleased with the breakfast choice apart from there weren't the usual choice of fruit and yoghurt, croissants and pastries we have come to expect as part of a hotel breakfast. We also felt sorry for the 2 ladies who were trying to do everything on the afternoon we arrived. They were obviously short staffed. We reported our bed side lights weren't working and they weren't sorted at all during our stay.
Breakfast was very good and there was the opportunity to sit outside. The evening meal was excellent- we both had sea bass which was beautiful.
It is an old building so there were a lot of stairs, but it really wasnt a problem and there was good lighting throughout.
It was a great location.
The room was dated , we had a hole in the ceiling where the light had been changed and the hole hadn’t been plastered up !! The shower doors didn’t fit together when you had a shower so the water went on the floor . We didn’t enjoy the breakfast so we ended up eating some we’re else for breakfast.
Good location Have stayed before Surprisingly very good food Short walk to the beach
Tired But has character
Very large room,comfy bed,excellent shower,great breakfast
Nothing!!
Location was good
The layout
Brilliant staff.Lovely food.Would recommend it.
It was our first experience taking our dog into an hotel, they were so accommodating any worries we had they took away very quickly, the food was good the rooms were clean & the staff were great. I will definitely go back
We couldn't fault it
The location, the staff, the food. Comfortable bed
A little difficult when you're not fully able, as there are a lot of stairs to negotiate
Nice location 👌
Breakfast. Local meats would been bettert to serve .sausages were awful, not a lot of choice , no continental . Don't bother with breakfast.
Clean
It was a very good breakfast. The room was very comfortable. The hotel was well situated & had a good size car park.
The bath was not very clean on the bottom ledge. We had a carvery lunch on the Sunday. The carrots and broccoli were quite hard.
The full English breakfast on first day. Cosy bed
Not getting the full English breakfast on the second day
The staff were very nice and the location is great, easy to find and plenty of parking spaces.
The carpet in the room was peppered with stains and looked very old and grimey, the toilet was grim and wasn't clean.
Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the breakfast and evening meal we had was fantastic (though the service was slow), the bar had a great selection available, and the bed was very comfortable.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are a bit dated. The carpet was stained in parts. And while the bathrooms are a great size, the corner shower in my room was very, very small making it a challenge to shower.
Location
Noise from above rooms.
The location was excellent and the breakfast was very well cooked and presented with a good range. Also there was ample parking.
Room and ensuite could do with an update. Woken up at 05.30 by dog barking in adjacent room wasn't appreciated!
Great place to stay
The loud builder type man who was saying fuck or fucking. Every other word. In the bar . It was upsetting to hear
Staff are always lovely as it's a family run concern and after many years of staying there I and the friends I hook up with always feel welcomed and relaxed. The meals are great, the breakfast facilities are wonderful, too, and these are the things I value.
As I get older the difficulties getting upstairs without a lift are starting to be apparent. Apart from this...what's not to like?
The food room staff was all very good
One thing I found in room 2755 I thought the carpet could do with a clean especially round the wardrobe/desk area but apart from that definitely no complaints about the room.
Room and breakfast served by a lovely lady.
All ok
Breakfast was good, staff were very friendly and helpful, location is very pretty and I enjoyed the bar area. Beds were very big and comfy, large rooms.
Bathrooms are very dated, our room had a tiny corner shower that was so small you couldn’t shower properly as the water just sprayed directly in your face. This is despite the bathrooms being quite large and having plenty of room for a full size shower. Desperately need to change these small corner showers in any room that has them
Very friendly staff, great breakfast, comfy room.
King Suite,very nice.
TV had lost its stations, needed resetting. Only charged us one night for dinner and drinks, when we had two nights. Had to let them know to charge for two nights.
Great location for the event I was attending nearby. I had a large room as I booked very late (and paid a lot!) and there was nothing else available (it may have been listed as a suite but there was nothing "suite-like" about it). The bar area was cozy and friendly. Despite my negative comments about the "hardware" of the room etc. I found all of the staff to be super friendly, accommodating and helpful.
The bathroom was large but very spartan; I could not get hot water into the shower system, and the rain shower head was blocked with limescale, so I had to try and clear the individual water nozzles myself, but the shower head was so badly aligned that water sprayed all over the bathroom. I had 2 cold showers for the 2 nights I stayed. There was hot water in the bath and the basin though. The Wi-Fi and cell phone reception was terrible. The TV remote didn't work and hadn't been checked to see if the batteries were dead - they were. Breakfast was OK, very functional, nothing outstanding, it felt very cafeteria like.
Very friendly staff Really welcoming Good size room
Bathroom very small Touch of mould, nothing a bit of spray wouldn’t sort out Hubbie is 6’5” shower in tub but ceiling drops mid bath so it was very cramped For a 4* hotel I’d expect an iron and board in the room and better toiletries.
Location, bar area and restaurant all amazing… food especially good
Carpets in all areas are very dirty. We were on the top floor up numerous stairs and all carpets are in need of replacing… quite dirty and stained. A shame really because all downstairs facilities are excellent.
Staff very polite and friendly especially the breakfast lady
Help offered with luggage had to find someone to ask as stairs difficult to lug cases up
Sufficient and varied breakfast with a very obliging member of staff. Good sized car park.
A lift might have been helpful.very enjoyable stay that met our expectations.
The location of this hotel was excellent, very close to a wonderful beach.
The shower in the room wasn’t good, couldn’t adjust the head or move it, cubicle was small so difficult to wash yourself! Room was ok, bed was comfortable but needs some modernisation, looked dated and tired, curtains wasn’t hanging well. Breakfast was ok, nice selection of food and plenty of it.
the room was very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent
Location was good with ample parking. Room was good size and clean.
Coffee at breakfast like water. Not a lot of options for breakfast. Breakfast average but adequate . Didn't like bar closed by 10.30 last orders at 10. Staff not very professional in shorts at teeshirt on check out. Two members of staff having an argument. Place seems tired needs a refurb. Shower cubicle too small had to twist body to get jet of water .
Close to the beach
Dirty carpets, very strange way of way that rooms are - long corridors and stairs. Bathroom not very clean
Great position in the quiet village. Close to beach and coastal path. Good parking.
Pale bedroom carpet needs a clean. Convoluted up and down corridors to get to our room. No fan or air con during an exceptionally hot period. Short on staff.
Very friendly staff & owner, had a quality sleep, excellent food in restaurant. & breakfast was one of the best ever! Defford use again, can highly recommend.
There was no dislikes.
Whilst room was dated the bed was the comfiest I have slept in for ages..... Staff lovely especially Nat at breakfast - which she also made and was lovely and Nat couldn't do more for us. Bar was clean and prices reasonable and staff very friendly.
Rooms dated but clean - had to walk a long way to get to our room. Dogs off leads in bar area.
The location was spot on , only 100yrds from the beach. I picked this hotel because we have stayed before (7-8 years ago) and had a very good stay.
Although it was clean the hotel itself is very dated , the tv stopped working on our second night , we reported it and a chap came up and had a look , but no results. The shower door didn’t close properly and the cubicle leaked into the bathroom. We also had a problem with one of our meals , effectively pork under cooked is not good , the server chap did apologise but it was a bit to late by the time half the meal eaten.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and there was a wide choice on the menu for the evening meals. The Wednesday evening carvery was excellent and very popular with residents and locals alike.
Friendly staff. Welcoming to pets.
Shower did not work. Overpriced room.
Location was brilliant. Near the coast in the quiet town of Mundesley. Although we didn’t utilise the option you had great opportunities to walk the Norfolk coast. Food in the evening was great and the breakfast was superb. Staff were on the ball. Great parking facilities especially as we were on a motorbike. Bar was great and although busy we had no dramas with service.
The state of the carpet was absolutely shocking. Clearly someone has had a spillage of some sorts and to be honest we thought it was shit on the carpet initially. On closer inspection it looks like some dark brown liquid had been spilled but no attempt to really clean as splash marks still up the wall (see photos). Although mentioned at reception we were informed that they were aware and that some carpets were looking to be replaced. In all honesty, a piece of carpet or mat over the top would have made all the difference.
Location staff and everything
Nothing x
Friendliness of staff and food was excellent
Nothing
Location was good, staff were friendly, bar and restaurant good
One of our rooms wasn't prepared when we entered it, but the staff were very apologetic. Also our room had a leak on the shower
Great food, nice staff, clean and comfortable
Nothing
Lovely hotel with plenty of character Very clean Very good value for money Bathrooms need updating although staff keeps them exceptionally clean Very small shower Big bed veeery comfortable Sheets soft and silky Selection of coffee tea and biscuits in the room Corridors very clean and good signage Nice breakfast with all what you need, nothing exceptional but good enough for money Great staff in the restaurant and bar Working hard and smiling
Very small shower Reception staff is missing So or busy elsewhere or hotel understaffed
Really good location and everything we needed
The rooms are a bit dated
Location and staff
Nothing
The staff were very friendly. Food was excellent well done to the chef who works so hard to make sure everyone is happy.Rooms were lovely and clean.Lovely place just to relax and enjoy the company. Well done, have been going there for years now and will continue in the future.
Nothing it was all very good, excellent in fact.
Food was very good.Bed was comfortable and linens were clean and in good order.Staff were exceptional, unfailingly cheerful, polite and very helpful.
The hotel is totally unsuitable for elderly and disabled guests,no lift and lots of stairs.Location is more than difficult as there are no pavements and the roads can be busy. Not as close to the sea as advertised. Bathroom was a disaster.
It is friendly, clean, food is amazing ,the decor is great looks so much better.
The staff are lovely... always friendly. A group of us have been staying there for many years at least once a year.
The meals are too big for me so I tend to have a starter or two instead.
The property was located near to my workplace. The lady on reception on arrival was friendly and helpful as were the restaurant staff at breakfast. The bedding and towels were clean and soft. There was plenty of toilet roll and tea /coffee as well as biscuits.
I thought the overall building was tired and in need of maintenence. The room fixtures and fittings were dated and worn. Tiles were cracked in the shower, There was some black mould on grout in the shower. The shower tray was damaged and badly siliconed. The shower head was scaled and couldn't be moved to a more suitable direction, splashing mainly on the shower door, which didnt close properly. It was also a small shower enclosure and I'm a small woman, it would have been more difficult for a larger person. The carpet was stained in places and the curtains didnt close properly and seemed creased and old as did the faux leather chair, which was cracked and peeling. The breakfast menu was limited. The coffee wasn't filtered, There was only orange juice available, no choice of apple or cranberry. No fruit other than a few oranges and 1 banana on the first morning, nothing on the second. Porridge was a carton you added water to and made yourself. The bread was tasty and fresh, but there was only butter pats available no other spread and one flavour of jam, I'm not sure if there was any marmalade. There were no alternatives to bread, such as croissants, pancakes etc. The dining room decor seemed tired and in need of updating.. I didnt go into the bar or any other communal area. I thought £130 per night for bed and breakfast was overpriced.
Loved how dog friendly the place was. The breakfast lady was super friendly and the shower was amazing.
Beautiful place great staff
How I can’t live there
Good location for what I needed. Good car parking. Friendly helpful staff and lovely evening meal
I was one person for breakfast I a room that prob holds about 50! I know it was the low time of year but there was no atmosphere not even a radio on… would have been nice to have the usually bowl of fresh fruit on offer, it croissants. Still as I say it was the low time of year and maybe different when it’s busier!
The staff member who coked the breakfast was a delight and very helpful.
I had scrambled eggs, which were edible but I felt it was an egg mix rather than freshly cooked eggs.
Comfortable bed, well appointed bar. Location suited our purpose well. Plenty of off road parking space.
The bathroom was poor. Fittings were a bit old-fashioned. The shower screen was partially disconnected and it was not possible to close it completely. This led to water splashing all over the floor. The light was operated by a pull code and the handle was missing. The cord had been loop knotted and was very discoloured. Corridors to rooms were somewhat poorly lit and felt grubby.
Breakfast had a good variety available. Dining area was extremely nice
Would have liked a bath mat for the floor.
Excellent food and location
Room cleaning was overlooked on one occasion
Staff welcoming and friendly, food excellent, first time away with my Dog, made to feel really welcome, excellent location.
Good food and friendly staff.
We found this hotel purely by accident as we needed a very quick overnight stay near Bacton. What a lovely place. Rooms super clean and very comfy, staff couldn’t be friendlier and more helpful. We didn’t eat there which is a real shame because the food looked fab!
Nothing not to like.
Good
Room
Lovely warm and comfy bedroom
No hooks or sufficient towel rails in bathroom. Dissappointing New Years evening due to entertainers choice of music, which led to lack of atmosphere and dancing
Staff, breakfast, dinner Overall approach to guest's requirements excellent
The location was excellent. The staff are very friendly and it’s quiet. We had a very nice meal on the Friday evening.
The room was freezing at night. The heating didn’t come on till 7am both days of our stay. The Christmas meal wasn’t good. Over cooked and bland. Most of our party wasn’t happy with it.
The area, friendliness of staff
Friendly, helpful staff. Good food and excellent breakfast. Big carpark.Good bar. Good location. Excellent function facility.
No Wine by the glass from the bar. Plumbing and water pumps made very loud intermittent noises all through the night. It kept waking me up. The bathroom is very small with inadequate shelves and storage. There were no usb sockets in the bedroom.
The nice thing is the proximity to the sea and the fact that four-legged friends are welcome at a cost of 15 pounds per day. Although there were two problems, the staff resolved them excellently.
the room was cold even though the radiators were on
A lovely place to stay. Extremely lovely helpful staff great atmosphere in the bar in the evenings. Breakfast was a lovely experience the lady in charge remained exactly how you liked your bacon cooked perfect every morning. The evening menu was varied well cooked and presented. The only thing to mention was that the only access to the bedrooms was using stairs not entirely suitable for people with mobility issues. Other than that a great place to explore the area
Going upstairs to ourvroo. But got used to it after first day
The staff were very helpful. Especially in the restaurant and gave outstanding service.
We requested to be near each other but one room was not. The carpet was filthy and stained and the smell in the bathroom from scented sticks was totally overwhelming.
Nice hotel with plenty of voice for breakfast and dinner.
The hotel is a good value and offers some of the best accommodations in Mundesley. It is conveniently located, walkable to town and beaches, and has a good proper pub, dinner, and great full breakfast. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, spacious, and perfect for a visit to this pretty coastal village.
Can't think of much of anything I didn't like. Was a pleasant stay.
Plenty of parking available Room was comfortable and well presented. Lovely big breakfast. Friendly staff
The location is great.
Buffet breakfast was good. Plumbing in most rooms have little features, but usually tolerable. Staff are always pleasant & welcoming
Room cleaned every day
The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff are very friendly and there is a friendly atmosphere and a great choice of beverages in the bar. We ate in the hotel on one of our two nights, my wife had a delicious Thai fusion sea bass and I had an equally nice Thai green curry. Breakfast is very good with a choice of fruit/cereals etc and a selection of hot food cooked to order.
Great food, lovely staff, great area for a break.
The staff were wonderful, helpful and courteous, the room was a lovely size, the bed very comfy... We had an evening meal here this time, absolutely delicious and very well presented.. We also had the buffet breakfast on both our stays here, again, lovely food, hot and plenty to choose from..
Just a couple of small things, a wee bit of dust here & there, and a coffee cup stain on the bedside table.... Almost as if the room was rush cleaned and these few bits missed... Otherwise, everything was fine during our second stay at this hotel...
Very helpful and pleasant staff, the bar especially has a very homely atmosphere.
A friendly atmosphere and felt valued as a customer

.
Breakfast excellent room comfy
Reception staff seemed Over welmed
Pretty much everything, Lovely restaurant and very good menu. Steak was a delight although pepper sauce too mild for my taste
Breakfast room very bright and carvery night very hot and too bright. Fire alarm activated at 4.50 am and having to evacuate hotel for 40 minutes!
Breakfast menu was basic, but what i ordered was really nice, nice quality and i requested my poached eggs to be cooked, firm, and they came perfect. My last day was a buffet breakfast and had everything you needed. My room was spacious, i was on the front of the hotel and could hear the music from the bar, but that suited me and i enjoyed listening to it. It didn't go on at all late.
I felt check in was a little slow and while the receptionist eventually acknowledged me, she still carried on filling other paper work in, making me wait. I didnt see anyone else on the reception for the rest of my 4 day stay. The carpets throughout the hotel were quite stained but everything else was clean.
Big room. Comfy bed. Location. Parking on site.
Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired.bathroom needs a good descaling. Shower screen seal disgusting. Dusty in places.dining area filthy floors. No fresh fruit or croissants or choice of juices. Whole hotel needs a coat of paint snd and a good clean up! Never is this a 4 star hotel. Also for the price would have expected a small fridge in room.
Food good and staff very helpful
Fire door in corridor on (253 to 263) banged when opened.
Clean room, decor a bit tired, lovely food Major drawback was no mobile phone signal, no Wi-Fi, no 4G - OK if you want to go totally off-grid I suppose
Very friendly. Excellent breakfast. Room a bit spartan but OK.
Very tiny shower. Room adequate but very simple.
Friendly staff
A bit out of the way
Friendly staff
A bit out of the way
Loved the location, the room and the facilities.
The room did have quite a few spiders but other then that very clean and tons of space!
Nice staff and friendly welcome.
Breakfast needs a big improvement.
Location
There was hair in the bathroom and on the carpets, a dirty napkin on the floor and when I opened the window the dirt in/around the curtains was awful.
