Rooms were clean

Complete lies about having on side parking - also cafe on premises - all there was a urn and cups and tables and chairs- each room was bare of glasses no fridge no water - no kettle to make coffee - it said room service - please explain how can you have room service if there is no phone in the room to communicate with staff- ALL THAT THIS HOTWL OFFERED WAS A PLACE TO SLEEP- no facilities to make your stay comfortable.

Street side parking, street noise, creepy old building, no hot water for coffee / tea, no complimentary water I hated most was they did not consider waiving my cancelled 2nd night accommodation even if I advised 3 days ago before my stay. Hotel was not even fully booked.

My family & I we’ve always use Rolet Hotel every time we are on vacation in Philippines & when we are in Catbalogan! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room are good sizes and this time we had a superb room! So we stayed there for few more nights!

It could be better if they do breakfast like they used to before and small Bar resto, so when you thirsty or a bit hungry you can just easily get drinks & a little snacks.

Needs some maintenance on the sink. Bathroom has hot water but drain is in the middle of the room .

Staff was very helpful and seemed genuinely interested in our stay being positive experience. Location was also good for walking distance to excellent food.

Door know did not work and relied on bolt lock mechanism to get in and out. That we were safe was all that mattered so it was a low level issue.

The shower wasn’t working well. The water pressure was too low. The bathroom’s door was damaged and my son almost got locked inside. The floor is too dusty. Towels are not clean. Bedsheets are dirty and smelly. There is no parking. You park your vehicle on the street at your own risk. The security guard wasn’t helpful.

The location is good near to a good bar and some restaurants. It's also near to all the sights. The staff is friendly and helpful and gave us extra chairs to our room that we needed. When we wanted hot water to make our own coffee or tea the staff brought it to our room promptly. The hotel also helped us find a local guide that took us to a waterfall not far away, a very good experience. The guide, Joni (Trexplore), could have taken us on a full day tour of the fantastic Jiabong cave not far from Catbalogan but that would have been too tough for us.

The hotel is rundown and would need a face lift. Our room looked grubby but was clean and passable. No drinking water or hot water boiler was provided. Once we got the extra chairs we could function in the room that was spacious enough. For the price we paid I would have expected a better standard of everything.

We could not fault this place. Friendly and hospitable staff who helped us with our heavy bags heading up the stairs the hotel. The rooms are spacious and comfortable - a little dated but it adds to the character. Very clean and well maintained.

There is no elevator 🛗. My elderly Mum struggled at times to go up and down the stairs.

I really appreciate the friendly homey ambiance, and the best part is great warm shower, cool aircondition and strong wifi-internet. we have a very sound sleep, super relaxing stay. This hotel is well managed, open 24 hours, easy to order for delivery too. I am very thankful of this hotel and made my vacation in Catbalogan City extra relaxing. Thank you so much!

I stayed here 3 nights. It is pretty nice and clean and the staff were quite friendly and welcoming. The wifi was good and there is a nice belcony at front. The location is handy in the middle of downtown. Although it is not the best town I've been to.

A/C was so noisy I had to turn it off to try and sleep. once connected to WiFi there was no internet connection. I reported the internet problem but nothing was done. to open the room door with the key you had to be a master locksmith. I reserved parking prior to arrival but no reserve parking available.

It has been years since my last review of this hotel. There has been new additions to the accommodation and lodging market in Catbalogan but Rolet Hotel is still the best choice. The hotel has been renovated, outside and inside. The rooms feature new cold/hot water showers, new air-conditioning units and better WiFi connectivity. There's still limited parking ( a very scarce commodity in Catbalogan ) but it has spaces in front to still squeeze several vehicles. There's JC Foodspot and Mayong across the street and the usual stores around. Still the best choice around.

Good location coz its basically walking distance to everything you need. The male front desk officer when we check in is very pleasant opposite to the female staff the time we check out the next day. The room is okay but the there's water leak in the bidet.

Small, safe hotel in the heart of the city. Can't be faulted on price and room basic but fine. Wifi not great, even in the lobby. Reception staff were good, especially the young guy in the evening. Would recommend this hotel.

Very nice place but is becoming a bit dated. Furniture is worn and has old style TVs. Good WI-FI signal in rooms. Bed comfortable. Small comfort rooms. Quiet and clean. Front desk staff is very helpful with anything needed. Smoking allowed in lobby and common balcony area overlooking the street. Centrally located with everything you need right outside the front door.

The capital city of Catbalogan is not a bustling metropolis, so finding a good place to stay - in transit while transversing the Philippines' Eastern Nautical Highway; or in town for business, will be a challenge. But Rolet Hotel checks all the right boxes. ACCESS. Located along Mabini Avenue means that it is on the first main street upon entering the City from the north. AMBIENCE. The hotel has a very professional feel. Nothing flashy or classy, but will nonetheless give you a chance for decent eyeshut. And while power outages are common in this province, it has a good back-up power. The hotel faces JCO Foodspot - the local version of Jollibee; and Mayong's, another bakery chain.

If you are visiting Catbalogan, Samar, stay at Rolet Hotel. The hotel is located in the center of everything. The rooms are clean, although they only supply you with one tiny piece of soap and a roll of tissue. Some of the rooms however have aircon that has no remote control and I never asked why. The beds are generally comfortable despite the flimsy beddings. But what matters is- Rolet Hotel is affordable and the staff helpful.

Hi, Stayed at the Rolet Hotel for a little week visiting family in the beginning of November 2014. The room we got was just out to the main street wich was noicy 24/7 and with the broken window we had full effect of the noice. No restaurant in the hotel so all dining etc. we had to go elsewhere. Room was otherwise clean with 2 queen size beeds and private toilet/shower with hot and cold water. Hotel do not take credit cards so be aware when you check out to have enough cash. ATM can be found just 5 min. down the street turning right when getting out of the hotel to Mabini Street. Not suitable if you are not good with steps no elevators. Free WIFI in the reception area.

I have stayed at the Rolet hotel 3 times now. Every time I have found it clean, quiet and the staff and security guards (For our security) have always been polite and helpful. the entire time of all my visits I have felt safe and my things secure. This is not normal in Catbalogan. It is not 5 Star. Don't expect it. It is clean, functional and well maintained. It is central to the town and only 3 minutes walk to the main transport hub of the area. Prices are fair and I enjoyed the time there. I will certainly use it again and would recommend it to my friends. The Bathrooms are small but functional and "Yes" the toilet gets wet when you shower. (So what). It is a good hotel for its location, and better than others I have seen there.

If you are in Catbalogan, Samar and doesn't know where to stay, this hotel is the best place to be. The rooms are cozy, the beds are comfy and clean the staff are all accommodating and friendly, the location is in the heart of the city, under the hotel are stalls where you can buy very affordable items, for men and women, cd's, toys, watches, etc. Rolet is also a favorite place for several famous actors and actressses, prominent politicians, and other celebrities who comes and visit Catbalogan. Need any assistance? Ask their Hotel Manager Ruby Tan, who is always there to help.

Good: Clean enough rooms, mostly helpful staff, centrally located, modestly priced. Fridge outside where you can buy a beer for 80 pesos. Not so good: No breakfast, although Jolibees are nearby. No lifts, if you are over 6 ft tall be very careful, you might bang your head coming down the stairs (like I did, and the staff member blamed me which really didn't impress- I did say mostly helpful staff, it seems there is an odd one out).. They should at least put up a sign but duty of care doesn't exist in third world backwaters. I can easily stand flatfooted on the stair and my head is hard against the ledge above (I am 6 ft 1.5 in).The floor tiles in our room were also perilously slippery when stepping out of the shower. Like many hotels in the Philippines, plenty of expense has been spared with the beds, they are hard foam and pretty awful.

The twin room was spartan but relatively clean. Don't expect a window in all the rooms. Air-conditioning came from a split type unit that was a bit too noisy for comfort. The bathroom has an inconvenient design where the shower is in front of the toilet. So everything gets wet when you take a shower. But the water pressure is good and there is a water heater. There is a small color TV (14") but with all the cable channels. WiFi crawls in the room, the foyer has a stronger signal.

Clean, centrally located, reasonably priced - its not the Ritz but what do you expect? Aircon worked fine, sheets were clean, only complaint was that the bathroom was the annoying type where there is no separate shower so the whole thing gets soaked when you use the shower. But other than that a reasonable choice for Catbalogan PS No breakfast available at hotel - I had breakfast a block away at the popular chain jollibee (literally walk around the block until you are behind the hotel) - kept me going, as long as you don't mind rice and fish/meat for brekky its fine!

I have stayed at the Rolet several times with my wife on our trips back to her home town, The staff have always been polite and the rooms suitable, I highly reccomend the rolet hotel and will be back in March 2011 for another visit. After reading all the reviews they are all very similiar with the exception from the guy from warnambool, I suggest this was his first trip to catbalogan and he expected a 5 star hotel, This is the way catbalogan is and the way the philippines is, The quicker you relise this and stop putting down catbalogan and its people the better off everyone will be.

I love staying at Rolet. The utilities work very well. Good price. Very good athmosphere, and clean. Great staff. You feel safe, with your things. DECENT ENVIRONMENT. I ALWAYS STAY HERE. I safely recommend it to any good people looking for a good hotel experience.

I can't believe someone said the staff was a anything but fantastic and super friendly. I guess there is no pleasing some people. I loved my stay there. The staff was awesome and the rooms were clean and the A/C worked great. When I come back to Catbalogan I will definitely stay there again.

me and my family stayed at the rolet 1200 peso about 12 months ago i had nothing but trouble if they would get rid of the smart (---) Receptionist she gave us so much trouble the views from the hotel are crap if you like to look at rubbish across the street i have stayed at the Hotel Maqueda Bay twice in the past 12 months 900 peso a night it is far cheaper and the staff are bloody great and the views at sunset are to die for the hotel is built over the water and it is very clean . i am going back again in october for 16 more days yeah i am NOT staying at the rolet thats for sure if you would like to know more email me dionkn@australis.nett

Rolet Hotel in Catbalogan City was a pleasant experience for my family after a very long flight from New York City. The hotel certainly isn't like NYC's 5-star hotels but It was clean, reasonably priced and its central location in the city was perfect for our needs. The staff was very helpful and surely hospitable (I believe this latter trait is innate among Filipinos.) We also got a fantastic view of the surrounding hills and mountains from the rooftop and the spectacular Maqueda Bay sunset was a sight to behold. We plan to come back in a year or two with some of our friends and enjoy what Catbalogan City and Samar province have to offer.

I was so impressed when I stayed in this hotel. The staff are very friendly. They have really clean rooms. I will definitely come back.
