The bed was a bit small.

A Quinta é lindíssima e a recepção maravilhosa. Nunca tinha feito turismo de habitação e foi o sítio perfeito para uma primeira experiência. A casa está muito bem cuidada e foi incrível ficar num sítio por onde passaram reis de Portugal e outras figuras históricas! Os quartos são grandes e a saída e vista para o jardim é uma mais valia, com bom tempo consegue-se ver a Lagoa de Óbidos.

Der Gastgeber war freundlich und kulturell aufgeschlossen. Das Ambiente war grossartig. Eine wunderbare Tierwelt und das beste hervorragenste Frühstück überhaupt.

Das wohl schönste Haus/ Villa in dem ich je geschlafen habe. Sehr exklusiv und herrschaftlich. Liebevoll und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und trotzdem spürt man überall die Geschichte. Der Gastgeber gibt einem das Gefühl, als wäre man ein gern gesehener Gast der Familie. Es war wirklich etwas ganz ganz besonderes. Die Pfaue auf dem Anwesen, die morgens am Zimmer vorbeilaufen tun ihr übriges. :-)

A fabulous property, with historical and family legacy. The location is great, free parking within the gated courtyard, comfortable, spotlessly clean accomodation, privacy, and a very attentive and pleasant host. Would definitely be going back!!!

Das alte Landgut ist wunderschön. Das Frühstück im Salon ist beeindruckend.Der Strand ist zu Fuß oder mit dem Auto gut erreichbar. Der Sandstrand ist riesig 🏖️

Der Schrank könnte geschickter sein.

Um acolhimento incrível, o espaço bastante agradável. conforto e limpeza. O pequeno-almoço é diferente de um hotel habitual, os hospedes juntam-se todos à mesma mesa. Senti falta de uma ou outra coisa de um pequeno-almoço mais comum de hotel.

A wonderful experience to stay here - a privilege to be able to stay in a family home that has been in the same family for centuries. Great atmosphere, surroundings (lovely terrace and garden area), large room, and animals, including peacocks, a bonus. Lovely breakfast with beautiful crockery and linens. Good location. Ótima localização e a beleza natural do espaço. O atendimento de todos foi sempre impecável. Pequeno almoço delicioso e variado.

Bruyant. Sombre. Tout l’espace de détente occupé en vue d’un mariage. Pas de climatisation… alors obligés de dormir fenêtre ouverte d’où le bruit …, Petit déjeuner quelconque.

We were made very welcome by Francisco and his staff. The property was in the centre of town so we were able to park our car and explore on foot whilst we were there. The family had lived in the house for over 500 years and the host gave us an interesting guided tour . Breakfast good, rooms comfortable with period features . Family chapel. The first day we were there, thrrr was a festa with music and lots of people in the square - which was fine for us as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary !! The second day, we enjoyed the local flea market, cafes, Most enjoyed the majestic plane trees in the courtyard at the back , providing welcome shade . And not forgetting the peacocks and the goats . Altogether felt very welcomed by the host family . Thank you

The apartment is comfortable, secluded from others (at the end of a small path, near the old riding school), quiet, and peaceful. The host is very kind; you can tell he puts his heart and soul into the property. There are wonderful beaches nearby, with both lagoon and ocean views. The beaches are very spacious, and you can find quiet and peaceful spots. There's a great beachfront restaurant and beautiful cliffs.

זוג עם ילדים גדולים 15-22. מקום מקסים ומאד מיוחד , זה לא סתם מלון זה בית מהמאה ה 16 עם חצר ענקית מקסימה , ממש מוזיאון חי. חוויה מאד מיוחדת! פטימה המקסימה קיבלה אותנו מאד יפה והסבירה לנו על ההיסטוריה של המקום ועל החפצים המיוחדים בבית.

לא יתאים לאנשים שמעדיפים מלונות מודרנים או שמפחדים מטווסים שמסתובבים שם חופשי, אבל אנחנו מאד נהנינו!

A comfortable and homely cottage in the grounds of the beautiful Quinta, well placed for restaurants and supermarkets in the village and close to the lagoon with its safe bathing, bars and restaurants. Only a little further from the nature reserve.

Tudo excelente, lugar maravilhoso, a dona Fátima é uma simpatia e as explicações sobre este lugar dadas pelo sr Francisco completam a experiência. Recomendo vivamente

O Francisco recebeu-nos muito bem na sua casa de familia, e que casa absolutamente incrivel. Estamos a falar de uma casa-museu, mesmo que essa designação não seja formalmente assumida. E à qual depois do pequeno almoço o Francisco nos fez uma longa visita falando da história, e das histórias, dos seus antepassados. E só essas histórias e experiencia valem a estadia. Visitámos ainda a capela, uma pérola que ainda recebe ocasionalmente missas para eventos da familia. O pequeno almoço foi excelente, tudo muito bom e fresco, com uma tarte de amendoa, uns folhadinhos ainda quentes e queijos e enxidos de uma variedade e qualidade excelente. O quarto gigante, de época, muito bonito, a decoração cuidada, tudo no sitio certo, com uma porta directa para a rua, um grande jardim que inclui pavões, e mais afastados, uma outra variedade de animais da quinta, incluindo uma burra, a Jumena. Um pormenor incrivel, a banheira do nosso quarto, como que uma micro-piscina escavada no chão. As partes comuns são super bonitas, incluindo um bar de Honra. E o nosso Rímel pôde estar connosco, desde que respeitando as regras da casa para os animais de estimação, todas elas expectáveis e sensatas. Recomendamos sem reservas para uns dias de dolce far niente! Obrigado Francisco pela atenção e cuidado. (Estivemos tão entretidos que nem fotos tirámos para compor esta Review, mas fica o pavão!)

A nossa estadia superou as expectativas. Bela quinta do século XVI, riquíssima em história e rodeada pela natureza. Excelente pequeno almoço preparado com muito amor. Quarto confortável e acolhedor. Um bem haja ao nosso anfitrião Senhor Francisco e à Senhora Fátima pela simpatia e pelo atendimento personalizado, partilhas sobre a quinta e a Foz do Arelho/Óbidos.

O espaço da quinta é excepcional, muito bem cuidado e preservado, Respira-se tranquilidade neste espaço, e a possibilidade de conviver com os animais é fantastico.A decoração do quarto mantém um estilo antigo e romântico, com uma lareira. Fomos muito bem acolhidos pela D. Fátima e pelo Eng Francisco , fizeram nos uma visita guiada pela casa e capela que é simplesmente encantadora. Fica a vontade de regressar e regressaremos um dia. Valorizamos muito o facto de ser uma quinta familiar, extremamente bem preservada e tranquila. O espaço exterior é muito agradável e convida ao descanso. Destacamos ainda o pequeno-almoço, que inclui uma visita guiada pela família às áreas mais privadas da propriedade, com a partilha de histórias que tornam a experiência ainda mais especial.

Quinta da Foz was above and beyond our expectations - the home was beautiful and steeped in history. Our host was most gracious and gave us a tour of the home - truly lovely. The breakfast was amazing.

EVERYTHING was 💯- couldn’t fault it for anything.

Great. Plenty of choice - breads, cakes,fresh fruit. Yoghurt, cheese, meat, tea, coffee. Fruit juice.

The farm, chapel, architecture, breakfast, and history of the property. It was all so unique. We especially liked the peacocks, the donkey, and the goats!! And Francisco was an excellent host.

Our shower didn’t drain well due to the pipe configuration. We still loved our stay, but this is one of our pet peeves. Also, we struggled to find the property, as it’s behind a gate. We finally had to start walking around and it just so happened that a staff member was just inside the gate and asked if we were checking in. I guess we would have had to call if she hadn’t been there. Perhaps a larger sign and instructions would have helped. Instructions should have been provided in the booking when we made the reservation. All in all, it’s still one of our favorite hotels ever.

Adoramos o sitio, a localização, a simpatia e hospitalidade com que fomos recebidos. Foi super interessante descobrir a história da casa, conhecer os habitantes patudos e desfrutar de um ambiente tranquilo que permite realmente desligar e relaxar. Viajamos com a nossa patuda e fomos super bem recebidos.

Wonderful history in the building. The top floor is full of original items and artwork and the owners will give you a tour through it and there are a couple of amazing things to see there. The Quinta continues to be home to many animals, including about 10 peacocks that roam around and add a natural beauty. The owners and staff were all very very friendly.

The exterior of the buildings are a bit tired, it could use paint, etc. But that didn't really bother me at all, and it did not detract from my Stay.

It was an amazing and beautiful and historic building and the staff was very welcoming…Hope to come back soon! Thanks!!!!!! Breakfast was AMAZING 🤩

Quinta do Foz, somewhat to our surprise, turned out to be a top destination all by itself for our three week road trip through Portugal and Spain. Our last lodging location for our 4000 KM trip, we arrived road‑weary and hoping for a restful, charming place to unwind — and this exceeded every expectation. The main estate building is a 450‑plus‑year‑old manor house, expertly updated while retaining all of its historic charm. We were first greeted by Fátima, so warm and welcoming you’d think she were a dear family member, and she gave us a fascinating tour of this working farm. Peacocks roam freely and call out frequently, and we loved seeing the ducks, horses, chickens, and other animals. Our room was so large as to feel like a house all by itself. Later, Francisco Calado and his gracious mother, who oversee the estate, offered us a generous and wonderfully informative extended tour of the property. A sizable historic chapel is located within the main building. Thank you for your friendly hospitality! You could easily base an entire vacation in Portugal at this one centrally located spot, and I regret not spending more days here.

There was nothing not to like about this place. When we drove up to the property the signage identifying it was a little hard to figure out.

Very quiet place with lots of friendly animals. The staff was absolutely extraordinary and took the time to explain the history of the house and make sure the fireplace was on while we were eating breakfast.

De tudo, mas principalmente por ter voltado ao passado por breves momentos, local com muita historia, muita coisa bonita para se ver e ouvir, aconselho visita para quem procura saber algo mais da historia de Portugal.

O anfitrião prestou uma boa receção, deu a conhecer a historia secular da Quinta que continua pertença da família e pormenores da casa assim como do seu interior e de determinados objetos pessoais que fazem parte da historia daquela casa. Recomendo.

Sucht man abseits vom Massentourismus und Einerlei eine geschmackvolle Unterkunft ist man hier genau richtig. Das Haus hat sehr viel Charme, das Frühstück ist sehr hochwertig und die Zimmer mit Bedacht komfortabel ausgestattet.

Nos hemos encontrado con un alojamiento excepcional. La Quinta de Fox es un lugar donde te sientes como en casa desde el primer momento. Todo está muy cuidado y se nota el mimo y la dedicación detrás de cada detalle. Es un sitio ideal para desconectar y disfrutar tanto del entorno de la zona como de su gastronomía y tradiciones. Los dueños, y en especial Francisco, nos acogieron desde el primer instante con una educación y un trato exquisitos, cuidándonos hasta el último momento de la estancia. La experiencia ha sido maravillosa. La casa es, en sí misma, un auténtico museo. El desayuno es de lo mejor que se puede encontrar: productos artesanales, de kilómetro cero y de gran calidad. En cuanto a la restauración, no faltaba absolutamente ningún detalle, y toda la estancia resultó muy cómoda. Sin duda, pensamos repetir y recomendar este alojamiento. Un sobresaliente en todos los sentidos. Un saludo.

A distância entre Foz do Arelho e Óbidos é boa, mais ou menos 10 minutos de carro. O alojamento em si tem história e agradável, no entanto necessita de melhoramentos para conforto.

Durante a época festiva de Natal não havia nenhuma decoração Natalícia, e dado o facto de que na capela se encontra sepultado o dono original da Quinta, as crianças dormiram assustadas.

Imagine living in the 16th century with all of today’s amenities. Add the ocean nearby, lovely restaurants and the most welcoming hosts anywhere.

Tolles, altes Haus. Schlossähnliche Einrichtung. Sehr familiär. Total ruhig. Gutes Frühstück.

The beautiful setting of the farm was located centrally within the village but also felt peaceful and secluded as it was surrounded by its own grounds full of nature. Francisco was an excellent host who looked after our needs and provided plenty of information regarding the local area and history of his wonderful ancestral home. We stayed in the Dona Maria room which looked out onto the autumnal plane trees and peacocks of the courtyard and also looked out onto the farm animals grazing below and the lagoon beyond. The historic features of the room made it a unique place to stay but it was very comfortable as well. Breakfast was served in the splendid surroundings of the family's own dining room. A varied selection of tasty cold meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries were provided with fruit, cereal, and yoghurt as a healthier option. The coffee and fruit juices were great and the attention of the hosts meant they never ran out. We found the Quinta to be an ideal base for days exploring the stunning beaches, cliffs, and lagoon of Foz do Arelho and for visiting the old streets of Óbidos and the independent shops of Caldas da Rainha.

It was the perfect city getaway! We loved our stay in this small town and an area where we are close to the nature!! We went to saw the birds and flamingos near the lagoon and it was lovely. The Quinta feels so much like home, just comes with an ancient chapel as if it’s normal for all houses hahaha. Thank you for making us feeling so comfortable!! It is a very clean and well maintained house, with so much history and importance to its community. If you’re looking for travelling for sustainably and contributing to the local community, this should definitely be your choice!

Es una casa muy antigua de 1500, perteneció a la misma familia desde entonces. Mucha historia en cada cuarto con un entorno natural mágico.

Soll ich eine wunderschöne Unterkunft hätten wir nie und immer erwartet. Ein sehr altes, traditionelles Haus mit einer wunderbaren Familie mit einer großartigen Geschichte durfte dort ein rund durchs Haus erleben einfach wunderschön.

Historisches Herrenhaus mit vielen Antiquitäten, alles liebevoll und mit viel Herz eingerichtet, Frühstück war herausragend lecker, man nimmt es an einem großen Tisch mit den anderen 3 Gastpaaren ein, was sehr gesellig ist. Besser kann man ein Frühstück bezüglich Vielseitigkeit und leckerem Geschmack nicht ausrichten! Wenn man möchte, bekommt man hinterher eine Führung durch das historische Gebäude vom Hausherrn. Sehr interessant. Tolles Bad mit riesiger eingelassener Badewanne auch für das Bad zu zweit super geeignet. Teezubehör mit eigen angebautem Tee. Pfauen im Garten witzig. Toller Strand, sind mit dem Auto hingefahren, würde aber auch zu Fuß gehen. Eigene Kapelle im Haus auch zu besichtigen.

Alles super!

Eine wunderschöne großzügige Anlage mit einem zurecht stolzen Besitzer. Die Zimmer sind mit bequemen Betten und Tee/Wasser und besonderen Bad ausgestattet. Das Frühstück sucht seinesgleichen und auch die Führung durch die privaten Räume ist nicht selbstverständlich. Vielen Dank das wir zu Gast sein durften.
