Ikamu's lodge

The building is beautiful, the staff were friendly, but the owners were not around so we dealt only with the staff there. The outdoor social areas were really nice, we had a dinner there which was ok but not really worth the 300 rand that we paid compared to other meals we have had in SA. The staff did make us a nice log fire outside after dinner which was super nice. It was just a shame that the bedrooms were a bit of a disappointment.

The showers in our rooms were not great, we only got one big towel and a hand towel in each room, even though I did ask for an extra one when we checked in.

Super lodge à 2 pas de Johannesburg.Le chalet est tout confort dans le style sud africain, l'ensemble de la propriété est top. David a été un super hôte, prévenant, nous avons pu passer une partie de la soirée au coin du feu avec lui et sa fille. Bon conseillé sur les alentours, ou la programmation d'un voyage. Vu la saison et le trop peu de temps qu'on y était nous n'avons pas pu profiter de la piscine, mais ça sera une excuse parfaite pour y retourner!

Great stay with incredibly accommodating staff and a super nice breakfast. The location is very convenient for the airport, making arrival and departure easy, while still feeling peaceful and tucked away. It was everything our family needed for a relaxing night to reconnect and unwind.

Ein himmlisches Plätzchen mitten in einem Wohnviertel. Unser Vermieter und seine Frau führen Ihre Lodge mit Herzblut. Die Gastfreundschaft war einfach nur einmalig. Leider hatten wir nur eine Nacht, aber es wird uns als eine der schönsten Übernachtungen im Urlaub in Erinnerung bleiben ;-) Das Frühstück war super lecker und wurde frisch nach unseren Wünschen zubereitet. Die Wohnanlage ist gut gepflegt und lädt zum verweilen ein. Vielen Dank!

Leider war es ohne Heizung etwas kalt. Zum Glück hatten wir jedoch eine Heizdecke.

Wunderbare Oase in mitten von Johannesburg. Sehr liebes Besitzer Paar, süße Tiere. Unsere Unterkunft war gemütlich und blitzblank sauber. Wir hatten als Abendessen das Braiii - müsst ihr unbedingt essen! Das beste Fleisch nach meiner Reise nach Brasilien. Unfassbar gut und alles drumherum so lecker! Wir wurden auch absolut zuverlässig vom Flughafen abgeholt und wieder zurückgebracht. Ganz große Empfehlung.

David was a wonderful host and made us feel very much at home. It's definitely a place where you'd want to spend more time at the lodge itself than doing things elsewhere. The bar and entertainment area is amazing and "Stokkies" tge steenbok graced us with her presence. David also has a beautiful lodge dog who welcomes you with open paws. All in all, it was an amazing stay and a great breakfast(my son adored tge bacon). Just wished we spent a su.mer day or two enjoying the lodge pool, bar and entertainment area.

Not much I can say in this section. Everything was amazing. I would recommend some firefighters for the fireplace. Had a "Boer Maak n Plan" moment but eventually got it going for the family. It was honestly one of the best places I've stayed at (had an AMAZING shower), and I would recommend this place to everyone.

Super séjour à Ikamus Lodge ! David est venu nous chercher à l’aéroport malgré notre arrivée tardive, avec beaucoup de gentillesse et d’attention. Le logement est très propre et confortable, le petit déjeuner excellent et le jardin magnifique. Un premier contact en Afrique du Sud vraiment chaleureux — les échanges avec David nous ont donné encore plus envie de découvrir la suite du voyage !

Breakfast was good, and David was very helpful with our booking and arranging for late check-out. Inside the property it does not feel like you are in the city.

Please consider replacing the cooking pot and pan - they are not in great condition. Neighbours were noisy with loud music at 1 in the morning, which was very disturbing, but there was nothing that Ikamu's lodge could do about this.

Die Lodge ist ein kleines Paradies gar nicht weit vom Flughafen entfernt. Die Gastgeber waren unglaublich nett und hilfsbereit, nachdem die Fluggesellschaft unser Gepäck verloren hatte. Es war ein unvergesslicher, sehr familiärer Aufenthalt.

I was greeted by the scent of the dog as I walked into the room.

Un endroit d'un gout exquis. Très chaleureuse atmosphère. Improbable coin de bush avec antilope et tortue où il fait bon passer du temps. Concert joyeux d’oiseaux le matin. Autrefois propriété de riches designers de cuisines de luxe, maintenant tenu par des Français. N'hésitez pas!

The best part about Ikamu's lodge is the people for sure! Geraldine is a gem and creates a feeling of family. We had so much fun and they were quite accommodating.

Super schöne, ruhige und vor allem wahnsinnig idyllische Unterkunft. David ist ein wirklich klasse Gastgeber, mit dem wir auch einen tollen Abend im garten an der Bar hatten. Falls wir mal wieder in der Nähe sind kommen wir definitiv wieder hier hin! Das Frühstück war ebenfalls super und man fühlte sich sofort willkommen. Jederzeit wieder, danke David 🙏

It was the second time that we stayed in this great lodge. It always feels like a second home. You feel like you're among friends, and the atmosphere is very warm. It's a little paradise on the outskirts of a big city.

Hi we stayed here for one night after a flight from London. We really enjoyed staying here. It’s like a little oasis around 15-20mins from the airport. It’s safe and well maintained. There is a small parcel of land and I see some ibis/ebis birds, tortoise and a gems bock. They have a lovely friendly dog called whisky too! Davide and his wife really make you feel so welcome and they were kind and gave us a lift to the mall. Which is around 500m or so from the property and we walked back. We took the half board option and Davide built us a fire as well as cooked us a braai with a huge steak and delicious lamb. Our room no.6 was on the ground floor and a separate chalet style. It was comfortable and had everything we needed as well as a big outdoor space outside the room and multiple areas around the property. Great place to stay. Would definitely recommend staying here rather than one of the big hotels near the airport.

Grüne Oase in der Großstadt. Garten und Haus wunderschön. Stuff nett. Alles da, was man braucht. Frühstück mega lecker!

Preis-Leistung etwas teuer. Zimmer sehr hellhörig, (man hört die Person im Nebenzimmer, es war Samstag, bis in den frühen Morgen telefonieren).

the stay was excellent. it was close to where i needed to go for work so the locale was perfect. it was a literal slice of bushveld in the middle of the hustle and bustle of joburg. the owner David was the perfect host and was super accommodating. the bed was impressively comfortable!!

with the thatch roofs, it was not very sound proof being so close to the main road. although the shower was warm, it would have been a tad better if it were able to be warmer since i travelled in winter. other than that it was perfect.

Beautiful place and in a location that is easy to get to. Davide is a great host and was very helpful with recommendations for trips and local places to eat.

Just perfect! Such an idyllic place to stay with the most perfect hosts. So friendly, it was like staying with family. Can't recommend high enough. Thank you David for having us. Such fun.

The Lodge is beautiful and while there, you completely forget that you're in the city, which we loved. David, our host, was very friendly and accommodating. The cottage was cosy, beautifully decorated and comfortable. We especially loved the fireplace and love spending the evenings infront of it watching movies - great, since the weather was freezing!

This lodge, only a few mins away from Jo'burg is a very peaceful place. You would not expect to find such a place within a city, but here it is. I enjoyed everything about it. A little piece of nature and of the bush in the city. The owner David is lovely, welcoming, always willing to help. very nice service and team working there. I totally recommend this place. And feel free to ask them about the tours they can offer !

There was nothing we didn’t like

This place is a gem. The lush surroundings make you feel as if you are way out in the countryside but in reality it's just a few miles from the city. David has created a tropical paradise, along with his team they went above and beyond all our expectations. The team are friendly, warm and welcoming. We would love to go back. If you are looking for somewhere to stay for a rejuvenating break, or just an airport stop over - I urge you to book and enjoy this beautiful Eden.

There is a lot of shade but sunny areas too. This would suit the majority of guests though.

What a great place to stay and unwind!! The lodge is in a busy neighborhood, but you forget all about the noise and the traffic once you enter the premises. There's a small, safe shopping center within walking distance where you can buy food etc. The lodge itself is beautiful with a swimming pool and a large entertainment/relaxation area next to it. David is an awesome host and very friendly, he was always around if we needed him. We booked a studio which is huge and has everything you need. The beds were very comfortable. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely return again.

Honestly a truly wonderful place to stay with exceptional staff, particularly Lorato & Pitso. Place is well managed by Davidë. Very clean & beautiful gardens. Like a mini Game Reserve. Rooms are very large and spacious and beds are very comfy. Highly recommended! You will not be disappointed.

Approximity of airport and roads (hey, its in the city!) causes traffic noise, so for a real peaceful sleep just take ear protection with you.

The place is really beautiful, the pics dont do it justice. Its very family friendly, our boys loved playing with the dog and cat so this was a bonus. Location perfect as we were attending the airshow - watched the afternoon part from the lodge. Chris and the staff are super friendly, and made us feel at home. A true gem.
