Reviewed Aug 28, 2026Very attentive personnel, clean, comfortable rooms. We stayed with two kids and they loved their own "secret bathroom" and a personal TV. Beds were very comfortable, showers were huge. The balcony had a great view. We also got to visit the castle for free with the cards we received on reception.

Reviewed Jan 27, 2026Das Frühstück war hervorragend - auf alle Sonderwünsche wurde eingegangen. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend - höflich, aufmerksam, dennoch nicht aufdringlich. Zur Lage ist nur zu sagen, dass mehrere Skigebiete in kurzer Entfernung zu erreichen sind und das Örtchen Mauterndorf - buchstäblich - aussieht wie im Märchen.
Teils wenig Parkplätze verfügbar.

Reviewed Aug 18, 2025Das Frühstück und das Personal waren ausgezeichnet. Ps.: Ich habe dort die weltbesten Spiegeleier gegessen!!! Im Hotel gibt es sogar eine schöne kleine Sauna, die nach Absprache gern genutz werden kann. Der Ort ist wunderschön und die Burg ein absoluter Eyecatcher. Eine Burgbesichtigung bei Nacht sollte unbedingt eingeplant werden. Bitte Zeit mitbringen 2,5-3h. Termine gibts vor Ort. Die "Burgbewohner" geben sich sehr viel Mühe. Kaufhalle und Bergbahnen sind fussläufig zu erreichen.
Die Lage zu den größeren Städten, ist nur bedingt gut. Man muss zu den meisten "Attraktionen" immer mind. 1h Autofahren. Wenn man die vollkommen überteuerte Tauernautobahn nicht nutzen will gern auch mal noch eine halbe Stunde drauf rechnen. Wen die Fahrzeit nicht abschreckt, der ist hier richtig und profitiert auch vom günstigeren Preis.

Im schaus Lüftenegger ist es aber noch einmal besonders herzlich und man fühlt sich unfassbar willkommen und nett empfangen. Wunderschöne Zimmer mit tollem Zirbenduft. Sehr gern wieder

It was cold in the room and the heating did not work. No heating was needed during the day, but as soon as night fell it got very cold. It was very cold to sleep during the night. We contacted the staff, but nothing was done. We had nowhere to dry wet things from skiing.

Reviewed Feb 5, 2024Breakfast was very good and the Hungarian staff was very kind and helpful although I felt quite strange to separate non-German speaking guest for breakfast.
Our room heat isolation was very bad. One window opened in the middle of the night from the wind. During the night there is no heating in the room. Parking is not possible at the pension entrance and the parking slots reserved for the guests (50m away) marked in a wrong way so cars can easily block each other. I received lots of misleading information from the pension before arrival via email on the price and check in times (these were different what BOOKING is advertising). In the room there was a message from the Pension that due to serious staff problems they are running with reduced service. I understand the situation as it is not unique but reducing the service level and keeping the price level high will result unsatisfied customers in my opinion.

Maybe can be a little bit inconvenient for those who has heavy luggage, and stays at the top floors. You'll have to carry everything by strairs.
