Beautiful hotel in a small village. We had very beautiful view from our room to the mountains as the room had 3 huge almost floor to ceiling windows. Angel is very helpful and does everything so that clients feel good and comfortable. She prepared us breakfast according to our wishes and we ate in the courtyard under big trees. Angel helped us to call Didi car and suggested us to take bicycles to drive to a nearby restaurant. The area is very quiet, surrounded by different farms, forests and mountains. Bed linen, blankets and pillows super good quality!

There are no shops or restaurants in the village. Just some narrow streets and local´s homes. We found a shop in Bohaisuo town on our way back from Great Wall. For dinner Angel took us to a tourist farm where she taught pottery and recommended us to eat in the restaurant on the same premises. Unfortunately this restaurant offered only very expensive western food. We would have wanted to try some local Chinese dishes, but there were no such places.

It was like going by an old friend, the room was really big and also the shower. Angel was always there whenever we needed something, I traveled with my 9 years old daughter and it was a surprise to find that Angel’s daughter and mine took down the language barrier and played together for the whole time, they were so happy to find someone to play with. Angel helped me to arrange the transfer and also the visit at the Mutianyu Great Wall, we went up with the cableway and down with the slideway, it was amazing! Huairou is a calm village where you can relax and take a break from the city life, where you can take a walk by the riverside or sit next to a sunflower garden, where you can enjoy a very good noodle’s dish and relax with a pottery lesson near the river. We absolutely loved our stay in Huairou, even more than our stay in the capital, we had the chance to meet amazing people at the His&Hers cafe, we even sang together, Angels neighbor was so kind to help us with our luggages when we left..I can continue forever with the compliments so I just want to thank Angel and the pretty Emma for being our friends during this trip of our and I totally recommend Flower Yard, in addiction Angel also organizes tours of the Forbidden City so if you want to go to visit you can be assured that you will have the best guide ever! See you in the future, we will came back for sure!!

A Truly Special StayWarm Hosts, Beautiful Setting, and Exceptional Hospitality! We had the most wonderful stay at this accommodation! From the moment we arrived, Angel and her husband made us feel completely at home. Angel speaks English great, which made communication easy and stress-free. She went above and beyond to help us organise tickets to the Great Wall, and even accompanied us to make sure everything went smoothly. Thanks to her help, we avoided the crowds and had a peaceful, unforgettable experience. It saved us a lot of time and stress, and we’re so grateful. One of the highlights for us was the incredible care they took with our son's dietary requirements. Angel personally cooked meals tailored to his needs, which meant so much to us and made our trip that much more enjoyable. We also got great breakfast: eggs, toast, tea and fruits. The room was spacious, spotless clean, and very comfortable- perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The village itself is peaceful and full of charm, with quiet streets and scenic paths ideal for walks and soaking in the local atmosphere. Angel is not only a gracious and attentive host but also a talented potter, and her husband is an artist and he paints amazing paintings- their creativity and warmth made the whole place feel unique and inspiring. Their kindness, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality made this one of the most memorable places we’ve ever stayed.

It should be mentioned, this property is a ten-minute drive from our object, the Great Wall. Although there are closer hotels, friends were effusive in its praise, so we decided to stay at the Flower Yard. The inn is clean, spacious, bright and inviting. The queen bed was especially comfortable. The morning meal was delicious and huge. Most of all, we were moved by the outstanding service from Angel - and her helpers. Angel arranged transport to and from the Wall, guided us at the Wall and managed a long list of details that made this momentous adventure even more memorable. We are grateful for her attentiveness and delightful welcome throughout our stay and in communication before and after. We join our friends in their effusivenss. Accommodation has a cosy village vibe. Spacious for my family of 4. Angel and her husband readily helped with ticketing needs and travel advice. We enjoyed very much the breakfast which included local fruits, good coffee/ hot chocolate. It gave us the energy boost for our Great Wall climbs. Mutianyu Great Wall is 7 minutes drive away. Lakeside Great Wall is 30 minutes drive away. Huairou town with shopping mall is 20 minutes away.

This trip was amazing!!! I researched so many hotels and this one came up the best! This hotel and the stay are totally made by the hosts! They pick you up from the station or airport and they take you to the Great Wall of China whenever you want, they book all the tickets to the cable car and toboggan and give you a little personal tour! They help you get the best souvenirs for a cheap price if you want. They took us to a tea ceremony. Cooked us whatever we wanted for dinner and breakfast! Arranged our trip back to the station and our sightseeing in Beijing. Totally amazing!! Took all the stress out of our holiday! So kind!

If you're looking for a home away from home, this is the place for you. My family and I enjoyed our stay here, it was comfortable and peaceful. Our host and her family were kind and warm. The daily breakfasts were amazing, dinner on one occasion was excellent too. Great location it's near the water, a hiking spot, some cool restaurants and only 15 min drive to Mutianyu Great wall.

The stairs were very steep. Something to be cautious about when traveling with elderly or very little children.

We checked in ode hours 4:30am, Angel, Tony & Emma are wonderful people, they receive us with all their heart. Their service is more than just everything of making sure our stay is unforgettable. The helicopter ride looking down the magnificent The Great Wall recommended by Angel was an excellent experience, my blind uncle was so happy with tears, aunty was laughing like a little girl! Every morning (we stayed 2 nights) they served us I might say breakfast for king! With many dishes, fresh fruits and brewing fresh green tea. My aunty loves so much the green tea & asked whether they sell it and they do…. So much to say about…. I have been travelling around the world a lot, this is a very unique experience, feel at home, not a boring commercial hotel. We shall come back one day in autumn season. Xiexie (thank you)

The location is excellent as it is set at the foot of the mountains and is only about 7 minutes away from the Great Wall. The hosts are very helpful and kind, and can speak English. They assist with getting around the area, and arranged our tickets to the Great Wall, which was very helpful because very few people speak English in China. Because the property is owner managed, visitors get that personal touch of having a freshly prepared meal that is delicious, and assistance that is just around the corner. The hosts arranged our airport shuttle, and even accompanied us to the doctor when my husband injured his leg. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit the Great Wall in the peaceful and pristine setting of Mutianyu.

Angel and her husband were very welcoming into their beautiful home. The rooms were perfect for our family of four, the location is perfect for the Great Wall and the breakfast was delicious. Angel was a fantastic tour guide, taking us up to the Great Wall and making it a very informative, memorable experience. I would recommend asking her as she also does broader Beijing city tours.

The Flower Yard hotel owner Angel followed my request to book airport pick-up and tour guide services, as well as tickets for the Mutianyu Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. This made our five-day trip in Beijing very smooth and convenient. Flower Yard was so cozy. The coffee Angel made it was so fragrant! Highly recommended.

Experience at a Hotel close to the Mutianyu Great Wall Staying at the hotel in the village near the Mutianyu Great Wall was a highlight of my trip to China. The hotel provided a peaceful retreat after a day of hiking. The room was well-appointed with traditional decor, and the views from the balcony were breathtaking. The hotel is in a peaceful village about a 5 minute drive from the Great Wall, not only was the location and the quality of the rooms absolutely amazing but the staff here went above and beyond to make my stay as smooth as possible, from organising all of my transport, booking my tickets to the wall for me, taking me to a restaurant and helping me with the menu to make sure there was no language barrier and even inviting me to have a home cooked dinner (food was amazing). Staying here grants convenient access to Huabei Ski Resort and Mutianyu Great Wall. Freshly ground coffee is excellent, and the mattress ensures a good night's sleep. Hosts Angel and Tony provide top-notch hospitality, making this place a perfect choice for a comfortable and enjoyable getaway.

We stayed at the Flower Yard in a cold winter. It's at foot of the Mutianyu Great Wall. We stayed here at 2 days. First day visted mutianyu Great Wall and second day, visit huaibei international ski resort. The host Angel helped us to booked all of the tickets. She is amazing girl. A cozy and nice homestay.

The flower yard is the perfect place to stay for a trip to the countryside just outside of Beijing city. Angel and Tony were super accomodating and their place felt very homely. The beds were extremely comfy and the shower/bathroom was nice and modern. They run a ceramics studio out of the stay so theres lots of cool art around and you can even try your hand at some pottery. The area surrounding their place was beautiful with a river just down the road and a relaxing walkway that goes along the water. There also a nice restaurant nearby and a basketball court a short bike ride away. They made it super easy to go to The Great Wall. Angel sorted out all my tickets, shuttle bus and cable car ride. She even took the time to take me to the base of the wall and waited to take me back home after the adventure. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking to stay outside of the busy city centre and want to see The Great Wall of China. The provided breakfast was really nice and accomodating of dietary requirements. Tony and Angel spoke great English too and helped me sort out any language barrier stuff that came up on the trip. It's also only a fairly cheap and short car ride from PEK Beijing Capital Airport.

Visited Beijing with my partner but the crowds were a little overwhelming. We took a chance and decided to book a room a few miles from the Great Wall. It turned out to be a perfect location. The room was clean, warm, and well supplied. The bed was firm. The owners, picked us up in the city and arranged a train station transfer the following evening. For those travelers that enjoy a boutique style, country inn my wife and I gladly recommend the Flower yard. The rooms are spotless and open on to a main central courtyard. Above the courtyard is a rooftop with table and chairs for relaxation, while enjoying the view of the surrounding village. As this was our first visit to the area it was especially comforting to know the property was locked and secure at night. My wife felt more at ease knowing our two children could be outside the room but unable to wander off. There is also a western style on site coffee shop which was most welcome as I’m not much of a tea drinker. We were only there for a short nights stay but would gladly visit again.

Everything was wonderful! Angel and Tony are the perfect hosts and make you feel like family. They have created a creative art space and the location and opportunity to see the Great Wall though a locals eye is priceless.

I wanted to enjoyed the Sunrise on the Wall. So just tried to book a hotel in that area to stay overnight. It was a last minute decision, but luckily booked with this place. Excellent service, clean room, nice simple breakfast. Angel even had a car to take me to the Wall the second day in the early morning. Really enjoyed the relaxing walking after breakfast along the river in the village. What a memorable trip!

This hotel is run by a couple, Angel and Tony. They are very great.They picked us up from the Beijing Capital international airport to the hotel and booked tickets for the Mutianyu Great Wall, including cable car and slide tickets, which really made things convenient for us. They also provided free shuttle buses to pick up and drop off guests who staying at Flower Yard. After the Great Wall, they picked us up again and brought us back to the hotel. It was so convenient! There are Tony's oil paintings all over the hotel, and it turns out that Tony is an artist. I really like it here!

Angel and Tony are great hosts who offer free shuttle bus service for guests staying at their hotel. It took about 6 minutes from their hotel to the Mutianyu Great Wall. Angel also offered to accompany us for free to climb the Great Wall and explain a history about Mutianyu Great Wall. The breakfast was very delicious. The coffee they brew on the spot is very delicious. The rooms are clean and cozy. Especially the mattress was very comfortable. If you want to climb Mutianyu Great Wall, I highly recommend Flower Yard.

Amazing place to stay, perfect for solo female travellers. It is a family run business with great spacious rooms and very clean. Angel is wonderful host and goes above and beyond for her guests. The breakfast was delious and both dietary requirments were catered for, and being Vegan has not been easy since landing in China. The B&B is a 6minute drive from the Great Wall of China and they will help you organsise your route there and also help with any questions around the Great Wall of China. Advice for travelling to this B&B is to make you driver call Angel and also make sure they have WeChat to keep the route simple, with no traffic this is a one hour to one hour and fifteen minute jouney to Beijing Centre.

Angel and Tony were the perfect hosts. Not only were they very nice and welcoming but they were very accommodating and helpful with everything. Angel booked us the tickets to the Great Wall as well as accompanied us there and to a tea ceremony afterwards. The rooms were very nice and comfortable and the homestay was also very well decorated with paintings made by Tony. The breakfast they prepared was tasty and they tailor it to their guests. After forgetting a piece of clothes at the hotel, they immediately offered to have it shipped to our hotel in Beijing. I could not recommend this homestay more highly if you are thinking of visiting the Great Wall!

The location is super close to Mutianyu Great Wall. For a sole traveler without car beside, it is so convenient to arrange a pickup service from Beijing airport to either the Great Wall or the hostel. The host, Angel, is so hospitable, friendly, and passionate about introducing the history of the Great Wall and the culture in Beijing. The room is big and the bed is comfortable. Coffee and breakfast are so nice. It was great to stay for a holiday.

There are some mosquitos inside the room, which proves that the room is surrounded by nature.

Owners who Angel and Tony made it perfect for us to have the whole cultural experience. The Mutianyu Great Wall is close, the views were so fabulous. Angel helped us to book all tickets for Mutianyu Great Wall. Tony drave car from his Homestay to the Great Wall and pick up to his Homestay when we finished it. They were so hospitality. Flower Yard is close to the Mutianyu Great Wall. The breakfast was amazing. Owner Angel prepared a lot food for us for breakfast, fried eggs, different kinds of fruits, fried pumpkin, toast, butter, jam, fried dumping and fresh ground coffee. The room was so good, bed was so comfortable. There is a terrace on the second floor with views of the mountains in the distance. The air was so fresh. I loved to stay here.

My stay at Flower Yard was superb, thanks to Angel and Tony. Everthing was perfet. Angel provide breakfast was delicious.The coffee was super good. After breakfast Tony took us to the Mutianyu Great Wall and help us to book all of the tickets.It was very convenience for us. After the great wall tony went to mutianyu picked up to homestay. Room was comfortable and nice with everthing that we needed kettle, fresh water. Helpful staff, including getting us a taxi to the airport early morning. Overall, we were very happy with our choice and we will come here again next time!

Amazing experience at Flower Yard, the best hotel we stayed in our entire stay in Beijing and surroundings. The place is a lovely quiet courtyard located near Muntianyu Great Wall (10 min car drive). Owners are arty people, very welcoming and always ready to help. English speakers which was very helpful. The rooms are comfortable, the spacious rooftop offers stunning mountain view. Perfect for a lunch, coffee break or yoga session! Breakfast was very generous, arranged at the time we wanted, we appreciate the chilled vibes of this place. Very family- friendly, the kids can easily and safely play within the courtyard. Angel provides pottery classes so the kids could bring back cups as souvenirs. The surrounding are nice, it's possible to walk along the river and there is a paved route nearby for a run that provide nice view of the mountains and the river. Angel brought us to a nearby local restaurant that provided nice (and cheap) food. that owner also had a horse and it was posssible to do some horse drawn carrier, which we didnt do but it would have been appreciated by the kids (30 min 50 yuans if i remember well). As for the Muntianyu section of the great wall, it was great: restored with amazing views + possibility to take the cable car to go up and use the slides to go down so very fun for kids. Flower Yard is the kind of place that enables people to spend a fews days around the great wall area and appreciate the countryside outside Beijing. We chose to do it after the city visits and right before our departure back home. The international beijing airport is around one hour from the place, taxi and private car can be arranged very easily and no traffic to expect in this area so very stress free. as for the distance from Flower Yard to the city, the drive took about 1h10. We loved these relaxed fews days there, it was nice to have warm service given by Angel and her husband Tony.

Floweryard is the ideal place if you're looking to relax and leave all worries related to your stay in Beijing behind, especially if you want to visit the Great Wall of China. This is where a wonderful family lives, who are the owners themselves, so you receive all the love and care in the world. They will take care of everything you need to make your trip a success. Tony picked us up from the airport for an additional cost, which was great because it would have been too complicated for us to get to the place on our own since we didn't have internet to communicate. Additionally, they offered us a delicious meal. Angel is literally an angel, she is a wonderful person, super special, and she helped us a lot to take photos and understand the history behind the Great Wall of China; she speaks English perfectly. Emma, her daughter, is a beautiful little doll full of energy and joy, and she brightened our days with her smile and personality. Regarding the accommodation, the rooms have super comfortable and clean beds, and the bathrooms are very nice. The place, in general, is beautifully decorated as Tony is an artist and creates incredible creations, and the family ensures that everything is clean and well-presented. On the second floor, they have a beautiful terrace for relaxation and enjoying the fresh air. The surroundings of Floweryard are super safe and tranquil; in fact, by 10 pm, there are no people on the streets. They have a café, and the coffee is delicious. If you're looking for a place where you can feel at home with the best attention and cozy atmosphere, this place is the right one. You won't regret it. We even wanted to stay longer just to have more opportunities to spend time with Tony, Angel, and Emma. On the trip we took, we visited many accommodations, and this one earns the number 1 spot of all the places we have stayed.

I loved everything

The guest house is in a beautiful place around the mountains and very close to Mutianyu Great Wall. The room was immaculately clean and spacious, bed comfortable, bathroom with towels and toiletries, beautiful views of mountains from the terrace. The hosts Angel and Tony went an extra mile to make our stay comfortable, serving lovely breakfast, helping us to get to the Great Wall and going back to Beiging. They both speak good English which made our communication easy. Even their adorable daughter Emma speaks good English. Lovely place, lovely people, unforgettable experience of the Great Wall!!!

Flower Yard is a warm and comfortable homestay located on the village of the Liudu River at the Mutianyu Great Wall. The quiet and elegant atmosphere of the homestay allows you to enjoy a relaxing time. The room is clean and tidy, with a strong and natural artistic atmosphere. The boss is very enthusiastic and the service is thoughtful and meticulous, making us feel at home. The accommodation is very close to the Mutianyu Great Wall scenic area, and the boss will take the initiative to pick us up and drop us off at the scenic area. Let us want to come back and stay in a homestay next time.

The hotel is very close to the Mutianyu Great Wall. It also provides a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the Mutianyu Ticket Office and back. It’s also very close to Huaibei International Ski Resort. The breakfast is very good and has everything, including freshly ground coffee, fruits, fried eggs, bread, jam. The hotel staff all speak English. In winter, the room has floor heating, which is very warm. The bed is very comfortable. We stayed at the second floor which has a large terrace with beautiful mountain views!

The location was great, very close to Mutianyu Great Wall, free transportation. They offered breakfast free of charge , the coffee was really good. It has a rooftop, you can admire the surrounding, I am sure it’s very nice in the other seasons. It is also very close to a sky resort. The owner, the staff were all very attentive, great service, very helpful.

The experience of staying at this homestay is very good. I am a French resident in China and have been living there for a long time. The environment here is very good, clean and tidy. This place was cozy, clean, and spacious enough. Angel and staff were amazing and helpful. A little far from the city, but very close to the Great Wall Mutianyu Entrance. They also have free shuttle to the Great Wall Entrance. Angel is super helpful with information on other must see sights in Beijing. Flower Yard is perfect for a 1-2 day trip outside the city.

Flower Yard is a nice and warm homestay. Angel and Tony are very nice hosts. Their homestay close to the Mutianyu Great Wall. They provide free shuttle bus from homestay to the Mutianyu Great Wall entrance and pick you up when you finish the Mutianyu Great Wall. The room we stayed are warm and cozy, the king bed is comfortable. The breakfast was so delicious. They provided Grind coffee for free. We ordered latte and long black coffee. The coffee beans are very fresh. Also Angel helped us to book the Mutianyu Great Wall all tickets. it's very convenient for us. We are so happy and we will come back here again. My wife and I were visiting Beijing and were a little nervous about taking a group tour of the Great Wall. We had read about tourists being pressured to buy things or bus stops involving tea ceremonies that waste half the day. Fortunately we read the reviews for the Flower Yard and followed the advice. This is a small hotel on the outskirts of the Beijing, literally a stones throw from the wall itself. They have their own private shuttle service. The owners welcomed us warmly which was much appreciated. They have a daughter about 4 or 5yrs old named Beth. Beth was the life of the party. I think my wife enjoyed her as much as the visit to the Great Wall. The food was good and it didn’t matter that we don’t speak Mandarin as the menu had a photo besides everything we ordered. The atmosphere was quiet and friendly. Luckily English was spoken at the hotel which really surprised us considering the Flower Yard isn’t a major hotel in the big city. Our room had Oriental furniture and we later learned Tony the owner, was a local artist and had painted the pictures on the wall. The bed had a thin mattress on a firm board. I’ve never slept on one before and can honestly say I got a great nights sleep.

While in Beijing a few years back I stumbled on this family owned hotel. It was my pleasure to make a return stay this week. Originally I was eager to see the Great Wall without the w of large crowds and endless shopping stops. The Flower Yard’s location is perfect for that. Located just 10 minutes from the Wall at Mutianyu they offer free shuttle service for their guests. The hotel itself is owed by a young, hands on couple named Tony and his wife, Angel. Angel speaks English which made everything easier. She is also happy to assist guests with telephone calls if needed. Both she and Tony not only run the day to day operation but they make it their business to see that their guests are taken care of. On the morning I first visited the Wall Tony dove me there. He then walked with me to the one and only counter that sells tickets that include the slide. It’s location was not obvious and as I don’t speak Chinese I would have surely missed it. He was also waiting patiently at our agreed upon time, when I returned. In my experience that type of service is very rare! On this trip I had a single room with a double bed. It was tastefully decorated with traditional Chinese furnishings and had a private bathroom and shower. It also had a western toilet which can not always be taken for granted in smaller Chinese hotels. The WiFi was free and worked perfectly throughout my stay. The breakfast was hot, delicious and local. Local meaning, they served eggs (with the shell!) They have a small courtyard where you can enjoy Starbucks-like lattes with cakes and other snacks. Angel also offers workshops if you’re interested in learning how to make “all things Chinese”. All in all, if your goal is to visit the Great Wall of China with free transportation to and from the Wall, without shopping stops and then relax in a welcoming local atmosphere, the Flower Yard is your hotel!
