Room has good facilities.

Most inhospitable reception we've had anywhere in the world, let alone in Colombia. Check-in was a mess and took ages. No communication about key things, double communication via WhatsApp on a bunch of trivial things. Terrible location, far from the village and rock, unless you drive your own car or are willing to wait ages for tuktuks to pick you up. Walking is not an option. The worst bit is that the hotel felt like a very expensive youth hostel instead of a private luxury retreat. Case in point: other guests started blasting seriously loud music at around 10:30pm, waking us up. Instead of fixing it, the hotel made a string of excuses for the other guests' behavior across the better part of an hour, until we finally got them to action it after pointing out loud music is not even allowed in rural areas under Colombian law. Checkout was also a total mess - reception was deserted, so we just left. (And then found out we couldn't leave for hours because the roads were closed - they didn't think of of informing us). A joke of a hotel.

Great location (but many other options in the same area) and nice views.

The place / community areas looks like half abandoned and deserted. The pictures don’t reflect the feel once there. We couldn’t use one of the bathroom as it was smelling so bad.The staff answer: you can all use the other one. Taking into account the price paid (and we were a group of 4), the reaction was unexpected.

Un trato grosero, incluso con palabras de grueso calibre, por parte de uno de los empleados cuando le manifesté mi inconformidad porque contratamos el servicio de un bote para la familia y la bajada al muelle es en escalas muy empinadas y mi madre tiene movilidad reducida. Se estaba tardando para bajar las escalas y nos manifestó que el tiempo ya estaba corriendo, que todo ese tiempo se restaba en el paseo por la represa. Me dijo que él no era empleado mío y que me quejara con la administración entonces le dije que si no dijera nada entonces y estalló muy groseramente. Quedando totalmente sorprendidos el operario de la embarcación como la familia al ver la escena sin explicación alguna.

La vista es espectacular, estábamos frente al lago y teníamos un kayak y un bote a nuestra disposición, con jacuzzi dentro de la cabaña, nos han traído el desayuno a la cabaña. Sin duda repetiremos

L'emplacement un peu difficile d accès et en retrait ( 30 min à pied de la piedra et dangereux, guatape 20min en tuktuk ) La chambre a des trous de gruyère avec une porte fenêtre qui laisse une fois fermé des espaces d au moins 1cm. Impossible de dormir au delà de 6h du matin ( chien du propriétaire qui aboit et personnel qui parle fort ) Première nuit musique à fond chez le voisin, le proprio a appelé la police heureusement

Vue exceptionnelle sur le rocher et le lac, chambre spacieuse avec jacuzzi, chambre très bien équipée. Possibilité de faire des activités (jet ski, kayak) directement depuis l'hôtel c'est vraiment idéal. Personnel au petit soin. Hôtel idéalement situé a 5 mn du centre et 5 mn du rocher. On recommande à 100%

The views from all over the property were amazing. The balcony photos in the room descriptions do not do justice. Each cabaña is unique.

Very friendly personnel, grounds full of nature sounds and clean. While there it was raining, so it made it a bit muggy in the room at night.

The view from the room was terrific, and there was easy access to the water. Floaties and kayaks were available to use. The food was okay. (I’m vegetarian, so all I had was fresh juice and grilled cheese, and the bread was decent.)

Simply espectacular! The views, the singing birds, and the lovely landscape, create a surreal experience.

Sotavento is a lovely facility in a breathtaking setting. My room was comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. I *loved* the jacuzzi! However, the facility was understaffed. It seemed there was only one staff member on duty, and s/he was multitasking with cooking, waiting tables, and managing the front desk (and more I'm sure). Though I may have been the only guest, there should have been at least two guest-facing staff on duty 24/7. I didn't choose to do any of the recreational activities, but if I'd wanted to, I don't know who'd have set them up for me. When I was in the "restaurant", the server dropped off my food and disappeared. That said I didn't have to wait long for the food, which was excellent. (I highly recommend the salmon entree for dinner.) And the two staff I dealt with, a young man and a middle aged woman, were both very pleasant.

The map on expedia is incorrect. This hotel is not in downtown guatape. It's a 10 minute ride away. However, 1) the hotel will call you a cheap tuktuk 2) you would have to tuktuk to the piedra anyway 3) there are tons of tuktuks in the town to bring you back. Just make sure you have pesos! There are ATMs in town. Although I was initially sad I couldn't walk out and explore the town, in the end I was very glad to have the peace and quiet (and lake access). Also, the hotel delivers food to your door! Other great things: 1. The staff are so kind and welcoming. I came during the week and had the place to myself. They were patient with me as I practiced my spanish. They give you a whatsapp number and you just text when you have a question.. amazing service! 2. The dog on the property is very chill and sweet. 3. I loved the free paddleboard /kayak access. 4. The views from the room were incredible. 5. I always felt very safe on the premise (and in the town) 6. The massage was amazing and very reasonable.

The property was quaint and peaceful with friendly staff and great service. I would highly recommend Sotavento Cabins!

Die Holzhütten haben höchstens einen 3 Sterne Standard. Die Badezimmer sind winzig, ungefähr so groß wie im Flugzeug plus Dusche. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt einfach nicht. 50% des verlangten Preises wären gerade so angebracht.

I booked the smaller cabana with the view directly from the tub. The jets weren't working, so they upgraded me to a bigger room!

There's only one key per room. And of course I locked myself out. I'm already a native English speaker, and after the upgrade, for me to have forgotten my key in the room...I just felt like an embarrassed foreigner. The staff were great! They had to crawl through the window to get into the room and retrieve the key. I wish it was as easy of just getting another key from the front desk though!

It is a very beautiful, nice location. I totally recommend the jet ski rental and experience the various open water areas around the location. The supplied breakfast in the morning was perfect. It's close to the rock and also close to the city of Guatapé. Getting there via chiva was very easy. Staff was great, and they made sure that everything was perfect, answered.All questions and actually help with some transportation. I would definitely come back again

There wasn't much I didn't like other than the high humidity. It would have been nice to have a fan in the room..

Location was beautiful, and waking up to the view was amazing. The biggest downside was the room service, not the service itself but the food quality. My girlfriend and I had dinner, and all of it was completely overcooked and dry. The staff itself was quick to respond to anything and very polite.

View is incredible. It has a net lounge which is pretty nice. It has a bath tub in the room. Staff is friendly but just slow with check in and check out since there’s only a few people working there. You can kayak in the river. Breakfast and dinner was awesome. You wake up to the sound of the birds chirping.

The staff was amazing. They were very informative and accessible. It made things so much easier if we needed something. It was such a great and pleasurable experience from the staff to the facilities, I would definitely recommend staying here again.

We arrived by taxi from Medellin, it was a bit difficult to locate but once we arrived, the front desk was super nice. The resort is relaxing and quiet. Breakfast was brought to our room. The front desk got us taxi's when we visited the Rock and the small town of Guatapa and arranged taxi to take us back to airport. These are cabins, there is no air conditioning, fan only. Because of location this was o.k. for us since it does cool down at night. We also ate dinner here one of the evenings and it was delicious. Most important is the view, these cabins face the rock, with also a view of the lake. We did not have time to get in the lake at the cabins, but when we returned from our day trip it appeared others from the resort were down at the dock having a few drinks. We did take a boat tour of the lake from Guatapa town marina. Guatapa is a gorgeous little town, we loved it. If you are looking for quiet getaway, after touring all day, this is a very nice place. The staff are all excellent. I think it may be family owned or run but did not want to make that assumption. For us we were visiting Cartagena for a week, and added this couple day excursion on. It was a beautiful drive from Medellin. Absolutely everyone we met was super friendly and helpful. We are from US and speak no Spanish, they speak a little English, using whats app communication was fine. They really wanted us to have a good time and it showed. We would definitely go back.

Idílico! Vista a la Piedra y salida directa a la laguna. Silencioso, ideal para relajarse y estar en pareja. Las cabañas de madera, bellísimas y cómodas. El check out fue demorado y nosotros teníamos prisa.

This small property on the lake was fabulous. The staff was super helpful and pleasant. It is had a beautiful view from a private deck, was quiet, and clean. The breakfast provided was convenient and good. I would recommend this stay to anyone visiting Guatapé.

We absolutely LOVED our stay. The views are breath taking. The property is clean and feels luxurious. Delicious Breakfast, comfortable beds and incredibly attentive staff. They helps us with anything we needed. They accommodate an earlier check in with us and were only a text away in case we needed anything. We enjoyed our stayed, felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The kayaks are such a special treat. We can’t wait to stay here again!!!!

Wow! I mean, WOW!!!! This is a real romantic comedy location... The view, the wildlife, nature, the sunsets... Amazing!!!! One little negative thing stands out though, otherwise it would've been absolutely perfect... It's Colombia and they only serve Nescafé instant coffee. I'm sure they can improve on that aspect.

The setting of the Cabañas is amazing. The idea behind the complex is beautiful, and without a doubt, there's a lot of room for improvement with all the potential this places has.

Juan Pablo, the property administrator, was very rude and disrespectful. First, I asked for a bottle of wine/champagne that was supposed to be included with my purchase. This was confirmed by the front desk representative. After all this was cleared out, I started getting messages from the property asking for confirmation numbers and images, files, and screenshots as evidence. I provided them with everything. This kept going all night to the point that I started getting angry voice messages complaining about the bottle of champagne that they were not going to give it for free. I'd like to highlight that this was a <$10 bottle, nothing crazy expensive, and I couldn't understand all this issue for this bottle. Once I saw his attitude, i started explaining other complaints I had, like NO HVAC for starters on a warm day it was, breakfast never arrived on time and not even mentioning that I don't work neither for bookings.com nor the Cabañas Sotavento. I don't need to spend a second of my vacations with paperwork that they need to have set for me. Very very disappointed.

This is one of the best cabana we stayed in. The location is great, friendly staff, excellent Guatape view, excellent amenities, and delicious breakfast. The property is clean, well maintained, safe and peaceful. You would at least want to stay here for 2 nights. We stayed for 1 night and it wasn’t enough. We didn’t wanted to leave. I highly recommend staying at this place. Sotavento was highlight of our trip in Colombia.

The main entrance of the street is bit complicated, you should call the hotel to make the door open but the problem is cellphone is not taking in that place

Loved everything here. We had delicious lunch when we arrived and breakfast was also delicious. I loved that we could just message them in Whatsapp to order. Rooms are super clean and have everything you will need and there was a porch and terrace with a gorgeous view. The best part was the service though. The owner helped us to get anything we needed and a reliable taxi on our way to the airport.

There are a lot of items there you need to pay extra for, that I think they can minimize to fewer items.

The property is great for individuals or couples, not for families. The property is a bit secluded, if you dont have a car a small taxi will do.

On the first morning, we were awoken by an aggressive dog (huskey?) trying to get into the room through the sliding door. When I went outside to get rid of it, it started jumping up and would not leave. The staff on reception were not helpful in getting rid of it, advising it was a neighbours dog. The dog then returned and got passed me into the room and jumped onto the bed where my partner was laying. It then started snarling which even as a dog owner was scary. There was nothing myself or the staff could do to get rid of it, and then didn't even seem bothered to try. Breakfast served on the terrace is lovely, but not when a dog is trying to grab the food. On the second night, my friends were staying in one of the adjoining cabins. The guests next door to them were playing very loud music until way past 3am with zero soundproofing between the rooms. There is no 24hr staff to complain to and staff do not respond to the 'concierge' text service. Whilst helpful in arranging taxis into town, there needs to be more staff presence, particularly through the night. The language barrier perhaps proved part of the issue but they seem inexperienced and unable to offer the service such a nice facility deserves. Avoid if you're scared of dogs.

We are delighted we discovered Sotavento Cabanas. it is a true gem of a small resort. It is set outside the town of Guatape, but an easy 10 minute ride by tuk tuk to the activity, giving you the very best of both worlds. We were in coral cabin, which was on the second floor. The view of the water with the great rock in close distance was wondrous. It seemed that all the cabins had excellent views. We had dinner there two nights, both were first rate and reasonable. Included a lovely breakfast served on your balcony, which never disappointed.

This small resort strives for perfection both in the beauty of the facility as well as the welcoming service of the staff, no need for improvement needed.

The rooms are beautiful and the views are breathtaking. The breakfast was very basic/below average. The service felt more like an Air BnB than a hotel. The staff were not very knowledgeable or accommodating. They asked me to pay for the reservation when it was all paid upfront and had to explain for ages but they didn’t speak English at all. Also when two of my friends joined for breakfast one day they wanted to charge both of them for breakfast even though I had a booking for two. They finally agreed to only charge one. But they wouldn’t let us walk around in the public areas of the hotel and said we could only stay in the restaurant. Al we wanted was to enjoy the view for a few minutes before I checking out, but they wouldn’t budge. This lack of being accommodating over such a simple request is why it gets a 6/10 for me.

All in all, it was great. Very nice and cozy in the cabin. The jacuzzi overlooking the rock is a delight !!!! Thanks for the awesome place. ☺️🙏🏻🥰👏

The staff is a little inattentive. For example, they didn't help us with our bags. A small thing, but still in places of this level I usually always get help carrying my bags to my room ☺️ This is a small suggestion for improvement ☺️🙏🏻

Everything was wonderful

Great staff, beautiful view of La Piedra de Guatapé and awesome private jacuzzi. The staff was extremely helpful (to help us with transportation, our laundry, etc) and they cooked us an excellent Colombian Christmas dinner. We loved our stay, and highly recommend this place.

the bathtub was great, view of the lake was also great. Room was lovely and comfy bed. Breakfast was also nice in the morning.

Check in was frustrating and tried to charge us twice, the place was very hard to find and no directions on how to get there was given to us prior. The toilet was noisy and kept going off all night after we asked for them to fix it. Hot tub had hot water but the shower did not.

In room jacuzzi was very nice. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast being served to us in the room is always nice.

There seemed to be only one key to the room. There was some confusion as to if there was a 50% deposit already paid. I will square this away with booking.com
