Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The staff were ever helpful and friendly and went out of their way to facilitate our time constraints. The Pub itself seemed the hub of the village, had great live and piped music, and good beer. Room was well resourced for drinks and shower needs. Felt like a really good decision to stay there.
Our only recommendation to them would be to stock gluten free pizza bases as we were unable to eat there in the evening.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pizzas, mad on site, were fantastic, and good value. The breakfast was also very good.
Parking: we found some on-street, but had to drop the luggage off at the hotel first.
Really welcoming laid-back place, very comfortable room, good breakfast, great position.
Shame they only serve (good) pizza in the evenings
Cosy, well decorated, clean room
No bath, but that was ok as the shower was brilliant
A lovely very well appointed bedroom in a friendly interesting inn. Great Pizzas and fine breakfast. Kippers especially recommended.
Nothing. Everything was excellent.
It was a lovely place . Great location. The room was comfortable and clean . The staff were always polite and helpful and the breakfast was superb . Very happy
Would have liked our room cleaned once but just a small thing . We enjoyed our stay and would go back
It was in the right location.
The pub closed earlier than expected.
Lovely pub helpful friendly staff great food and beer

Lovely clean rooms of very good standard. Staff welcoming and helpfull. Pizza good, but would like more food options.
A fantastic seaside country pub with a beautiful room overlooking the church clock tower, super breakfast and very friendly staff.
Friendly staff, very clean room. good breakfast. Wood fired pizza excellent
Last orders in bar on wednesday evening at 21:10
Wonderful position, comfortable room, quiet overnight, really close to the beach and excellent breakfast! Highly recommend!
A very comfortable room, beautifully decorated with everything you could need. Superb breakfast. Great location.
No onsite parking which we knew about, but parking in the village is an issue, be prepared to walk some distance to your car.
Nice enough room and comfortable bed
Nice enough room but window did not open enough and was very stuffy. Very poky breakfast room and average breakfast. Very expensive for what was really a very small room in an annexe of a very ordinary hotel.
Great location in the middle of the town
No parking but this is well communicated and not hotel’s problem. We did manage to find somewhere just up the road
Everything about this hotel is perfect. I just love it.
It's a little pricey but expected
Great location, friendly people, delicious beer, nice pizza, good breakfast. All in all a great stay - everything we needed.

Lovely comfortable room. Spotlessly clean. Friendly staff
Small extras would have made the stay perfect- a lidded bin in the bathroom., a luggage stand for a suitcase. Otherwise all good.
The room was beautiful, very clean. Comfortable bed, lovely sheets, lots of products and extensive tea tray and great breakfast. Cosy bar and good garden overlooking the estuary.
Parking was stressful. We couldn't park near the inn and we didn't know if we would be able to find a space. The bar wasn't open on the Sunday and the garden bar closed early. There were no food options on the Tuesday and Wednesday. Check in was poor. We had to go to the garden to find staff.
The pub is lovely and would have been great to have a drink / meal there. Room was nice, garden was a lovely place to sit with a drink on a sunny afternoon, pizza was fab.
We were not informed on booking our stay that the pub would be closed with no dinner service and the whole place would close at 8pm. We had made the booking on the information from the website about pub grub & the olde worlde pub ambience / feel that we wanted for our Wedding Anniversary treat of Dinner with an overnight stay. We didn't get the experience we expected or thought we were paying for. The lack of the facilities advertised on the website meant we felt we did not receive value for money at all. We also didn't like having to chose our breakfast option & time the night beforehand & the timing of breakfast was extremely limited... 8:30 to 9:15am. To be honest we felt like as guests we were an inconvenience .
Beautiful room , comfortable bed .Great location.
Only food option was pizza . Very early breakfast times 815-915 , when you’re on holiday you don’t want to have to set your alarm… early check out , 10am .
Friendly staff , lovely location
Excellent breakfast with ample chioce
Should have been informed that they dont serve food on a Tuesday and Wednesday and the bar closed at 9pm
Very clean and comfortable

Great position, central to the town. The church bells (church straight across the road) stopped between 10 pm and 7 am so that was good! Superbly fitted out scrupulously clean bedroom and bathroom, massive TV and big comfy bed. We had several walks along the beach and around the estuary - fabulous mudflats, swifts (?or maybe sand martins) and other birds flying all around and wading in the salty marsh areas, wildflowers, grasses. The staff were unobtrusive but efficient and pleasant.
A bit more vegetarian choice for breakfast would have been good, the full veggie breakfast was not as full as the full English breakfast!
Great location in the centre of Alnmouth, easy to access the beach and the local shops and eateries. Room was nicely decorated and well maintained, not many signs of wear and tear. Staff were friendly and helpful. They let us know everything we needed to know (where to eat, the breakfast times…) but also weren’t too obtrusive and let us enjoy our stay in peace.
Parking can be challenging at times. We managed to get some free on street parking down on the sea front but expect to have a bit of a walk up to the hotel (a few minutes). Room was a little bit too warm. Noise travels a lot, the bar was particularly busy on our first night and the chatter from the bar can be heard from the room. Likewise, we were next to the kitchen so you’re woken in the morning to the kitchen door opening and closing and people coming up and down the stairs.
Spacious room with a luxurious feel. Huge bathroom and shower. Very comfortable. Great location, walking distance to the beach. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. Good dinner options nearby as well.
Although only one night i would not hesitate to stop there again if i am in the district
No camplaints
Delicious breakfast presentation was excellent staff nice and attentive asking if everything was ok and if our room was ok nice and friendly .
If I was being picky maybe a fridge in room as there was complimentary water but no fridge for cold drinks
It was a nicely presented room , breakfast was freshly cooked which was nice
The room we had was external access to the main pub and breakfast room ,not great if weather poor . No parking, you just have to be lucky if street parking is available in almouth , but given it’s a big attraction hard to find one on
Great
Sjmall shower
Great breakfast and location brilliant. cosy bar area and friendly staff. Room was very good but a bit pricey especially as on my own. I also didn't realise i had to access the room via outside stairs which i was a bit apprehensive of but staff carried my bags up.
The room was delightful and had a great outlook over the local church. The breakfast was delicious, cooked to our order made the previous evening. The dining room was spotlessly clean and the staff very friendly.
A minor thought and our personal taste but we would have liked some fresh fruit at breakfast. However the breakfast was otherwise exceptionally good. Public transport to Alnmouth to/from the train station left a lot to be desired but luckily enough we are reasonably fit and able to make the 20 minute walk (albeit with luggage).
Great location, staff and breakfast
Room way too hot - only way to cool down was by opening the window which meant lots of noise from the street right outside including vans loading/unloading in the early hours directly beneath your bedroom window. For a hotel advertising itself as 5* it did not meet my expectations at all.
Perfect location …. Very tastefully decorated
Bar shuts too early 😊
Decent location but there was a private party going on so nowhere to relax apart from bedroom. The bedroom was nicely decorated.
It’s a pub so no separation from any events which may be going on. No staff available to help on day we arrived. Stayed in rooms with pubs before and this was the worse by far.
Inviting, warm, relaxing, clean just a very cosy laid back environment that felt welcoming and that includes the staff…

We had a very comfortable room, the breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's in a good spot in the main street in Alnmouth and a short walk to the beach and several good restaurants!
The time in which they serve breakfast is very narrow (8.30-9.15), which is understandable in a small place but not conducive to having any lazy holiday mornings.
Great location, lovely room.
Unfortunately there was no food one evening and the next it was just pizzas. Bar shut early (9ish). Luckily there are other places nearby, but a bit inconvenient when it’s heavy rain.
Excellent room. Good bar with atmosphere. Good breakfast. Very friendly staff.
Parking could be a problem when the town is busy.
Extremely comfortable, well-updated room; friendly staff; great location at the center of Alnmouth-- I had a postcard view of the village church. Compact but well-designed bath with very hot water; shelves in the room offered more practical storage than many hotel rooms. Great range of breakfast options; pleasant pub downstairs where excellent pizza was served (though not every night of my stay).
Room 1 was great for one person but might be a bit tight for two. Configuration of the breakfast room is also fairly intimate.
Friendly Clean Good location Good breakfast Very comfortable bed
Loved the location apart from the walk from the station with luggage. Landlord was friendly and kept our luggage when we checked out for a couple of hours until it was time for our train. Got a taxi when leaving to the station as it was raining £10 . Lovely view from the beer garden .
Could be noisy at times - so hot when we were there that the window was open and a delivery lorry at 4.00 am outside in the street was not quiet. If you’re round the back that would eliminate that .
Loved everything about this property. Great location and lovely to have the cosy pub near by. We stayed an extra day as loved it so much.
No issues.
Sehr schönes Zimmer mit großem Bad. Der zum Haus gehörende Biergarten.
The breakfast was excellent and very well organised. Staff were welcoming. We were very lucky that the weather was kind to us and we were able to sit outside in the lovely beer garden. Live music as well was very much appreciated
Couldn’t fault our stay
Room was wonderful. Staff were fantastic and the breakfast was very good.
I wish it did proper food in the evenings rather than just pizza.
Location is great - a short stroll down to the beach. Nicely decorated throughout and great beer garden to the rear.
Several breakfast items were over cooked (bacon the worst) shame given the price paid for B&B
Tasty breakfast in lovely room.
The muffins were very hard.
didn't stay as online description was not what we found on arrival
the misleading online information about the facilites and operation of the establishment.
The breakfast was varied and good with the seating and facilities situated in a pleasant area.
The bacon was probably cooked in an air frier and was so severely over done it became leathery and inedible. Great shame as the sausages and bacon were locally sourced and of high quality.
Excellent room and very good location
A bit disappointed with the breakfast. Could have had more selection of continental options Little contact with the staff, so more like an AirBnb
Very quaint village with great atmosphere. Very good breakfast. So many lovely walks along the beach and a terrific base to explore from
Parking can be a problem as there is only street parking
Spotless ..stylish room ..comfortable bed. Excellent location.
Nothing
The actual pub and its staff were really good the accommodation was really good, great location with in the village and a great base to explore the surrounding area
I really think that they need to look for a new breakfast chef as the cooked breakfast were terrible, bacon was cremated along with other items, I did complain on the first morning but it didn’t improve much for the next couple of days unfortunately
Great location
Lack of parking
Great location Very clean Super comfy beds

Friendly staff Excellent location
Parking tricky at times
The room was clean and on first appearances looked v good.
Unfortunately the bed was extremely soft and my husband almost fell out of bed. He got v little sleep .
The staff made us feel welcome. The accommodation was excellent and some nice touches and attention to detail. A very pleasant week.
We liked all of our stay and would recommend The Red Lion, a good place to stay to see that part of a beautiful county.
Lovely cosy bar & breakfast room. Bedroom nice And comfortable and spacious
I had a single Bed which was very soft at the edges and I felt like I was going to fall out all night.
Modern decoration, breakfast was lovely
Only 45 min window for breakfast and had to tell them time night before. Parking was on street and very busy.
Breakfast and good service. Position.
A little bit of black mould in the shower but, nothing else. All good.

Friendly helpful staff comfy clean rooms and the rest of the building also No negatives from our visit.
Parking could be an issue at busy periods
Friendly welcoming staff. Great breakfast.
Breakfast was excellent. Very comfortable, tidy room. Located in the middle of the village within walking distance of beach, golf course.
The pizzas were great but found it strange that there wasn’t more food options. To be honest, felt it was a bit expensive for a pub with rooms. In saying that the room was first class.
Lovely staff comfortable room and good breakfast
Great room, lucky staff, fab breakfast.
Location, suite was lovely, home fire
House keeping has to be requested. Toast at breakfast was bread that had not been toasted long
Great breakfast
The room was a bit chilly
Very comfortable spacious room, delicious breakfast, central location

Absolutely lovely place. Room was fabulous and very friendly staff.
Maybe a little more choice at breakfast. Some fruit would have been good.
Everything staff were lovely room amazing most comfortable we have slept in

Booked suite -lots of room plus quiet. Good breakfast, cosy bar with fire, very friendly and helpful staff.
Didn't realise there was limited food offering but it worked out well. Recommendation by Red Lion staff for next door the Whittling House proved great- lovely meal. Pizza at Red Lion was great another night.
