Unfortunately I was allocated a room on the main road through town and only one floor up. The traffic seemed endless, even at 3 am there were still vehicles passing by.

Reviewed Aug 17, 2026We were late to check in but the owner/attendant was more than accommodating. The staff were great and it is a very cool place with history and character. I would definitely stay again. The bar area was amazing and the free breakfast was a great bonus.

Reviewed Aug 16, 2026Attentiveness by staff excellent. Food (both breakfast and evening meal also excellent. Parking facilities very useful as high street parking rather busy.
The only thing we could have done with was a lift as my elderly mother found the number of stairs a little too much. In a building of its age, I appreciate this may not be possible and, should we return, we would try and book a room on a lower floor.

Reviewed Aug 9, 2026Great location close to a number of local attractions. The staff were very warm and welcoming. The parking was easy to access and safe. The breakfast was great - full Irish with lots of options. They were also very accommodating for food allergies. We had dinner at the hotel as well and it was great. Highly recommend this property!
Nothing could have been better. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The hotel is centrally located and close to several pubs and bars, but there is also a great bar right in the hotel. This property excels at great customer service!

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026Staff were very accommodating they looked after all our needs as we had a lady with a sore ankle who couldn't walk too far so they gave us a room on the first floor so she didn't have to go too far to her room. Breakfast was lovely nothing was too much for the girl who served us. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Always smiling and greeting everyone who came. Our rooms were clean and very comfortable beds in each of them.
If l was to have something that l didn't like it would have been the coffee in the morning but that's being very picky but just something that could be changed easily. No reflection on the staff just my personal opinion on the taste.

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026We had a fantastic stay at the Darnley Lodge Hotel. The receptionist was absolutely amazing and couldn’t have been more welcoming. She kindly let us check in early so we had plenty of time to get ready and make it to our concert, which we really appreciated. The manager/barman was also so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was spotless, beautifully presented, and the beds were so comfortable.
Nothing at all – we couldn’t fault our stay.

We were on the 2nd floor, every step on the stairs creaked, also the floor boards in the bedroom. We asked for the early bird menu that was advertised in our bedroom brochure, only to be told, there wasn’t one. The bedroom brochure hadn’t been updated. ??? Free WiFi had no internet connection for the 2 days we were there. ?? Had to ring bell to get into the hotel at 11:30 on a Friday night.??

Main issue was we could clearly hear the music from our bedroom on the Saturday night and couldn't get to sleep until it was finished. Bacon was rock hard. Pancakes seemed to be shop bought. Very skimpy with the fruit on the pancakes.

The bed was a double, and the room could easily have accommodated a king size. I’d say the mattress had seen a fair bit of action over the years and needed to be replaced.

Reviewed Dec 3, 2025Rooms clean, staff friendly and dinner was excellent and breakfast was reasonable - latter would have been better to have been all Buffett and to have has some fruit, cheese and cold meats for the continental section.
Fact that on a Saturday night they have a live band that starts playing until midnight without us being told when booking a Saturday night - I pay for a good nights sleep and we didn't get to sleep until 2am because when the music stopped we had some rowdy guests talking loudly in the corridors - soundproofing was poor
