If you want to stay just a stone's throw from the UNESCO-listed Durbar Square in Patan and immerse yourself in authentic Nepali life, the Karuna Hotel is an excellent choice. Situated among local homes, the hotel places you right in the midst of daily life - children heading to school, women going to the market, and morning prayers at the temple. The hotel and its rooms are well-equipped and spotless. Breakfast is prepared in an adjacent building under the same ownership - which also offers apartments for rent - though, in my opinion, having the service provided directly within the hotel itself would be preferable. A real highlight is the reception staff: always very kind, highly professional, and ready to assist with any need. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was freshly prepared, I was impressed with the value for money. Location was the best part. It’s located right next to the patan durbar square. Right in between the locals residence. Hotel’s staff were so friendly and polite. Hotel’s interior felt so cozy and cute.

Personal super amable, todas las chicas que nos atendieron fueron muy simpáticas y agradables. Buena relación calidad-precio, está muy bien para estancias cortas. Muy buen desayuno, que también estaba incluido en el precio. Estaba limpio.

Solo mencionar que si vas con mucho equipaje como nosotros, puede ser un poco incómodo. Aunque la chica nos ayudó a subir el equipaje, teníamos bastante equipaje y tuvimos que subir tres plantas sin ascensor.

Très bel hôtel refait à neuf récemment dans un bel immeuble ancien, dans une petite ruelle au calme à quelques pas du Durbar square. Les chambres sont très confortables et décorées avec goût, la salle de bain est moderne et comprend même une paroi de douche. Les femmes de l’accueil et qui s’occupent du petit déjeuner étaient attentionnées, toujours de bonne humeur et contentes de pouvoir discuter. Elles ont largement contribué à ce qu’on étende notre séjour au sein de l’hôtel. Nous avons eu une expérience luxueuse pour un prix imbattable, on y retournera sans hésiter !

It was a great experience, so near to the Durbar Square! Loved the bed, interior and the location. A place that I will come back to again and would definitely recommend this place.

The location is very close to Patan Durbar Square, which makes it perfect if you enjoy walking around and exploring the area. It is within about 300 meters walking distance, so very convenient. At the same time, it is slightly away from the busiest area, so it feels a bit quieter, which I appreciated. The only small challenge was finding it for the first time, as the streets in Patan are small alleys and can be a bit confusing to navigate initially

Charging devices was extremely slow, much slower compared to other places I stayed in, even cafés in the same area. It took a very long time to fully charge my phone. I think this is due to old or unstable electrical wiring. In addition, some of the sockets were quite loose, which made plugging in devices a bit inconvenient and unreliable

The staff is great! I requested a shuttle service from where I was staying in Kirthipur on the same day and they agreed straight away with the pick up in a professional and kind manner. Everyone was super helpful, they helped me find a place to buy a SIM card and a laundry. Very well located, it was really great stay!

Location was very close to Patan Durbar Square which we really enjoyed visiting! The rooms were large and clean for a heritage hotel. Beds were comfortable. The staff members we dealt with were incredibly nice and helpful in arranging an early morning check-out and taxis for us.

We thought we would stay in the main building, but we stayed in different side building. The balcony opened to a small, unkempt alley. This was somewhat misleading.

Ich habe mich sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Personal ist sehr hilfsbereit und immer für einen da. Der Flughafentransfer hat super geklappt. Die Lage in Patan ist hervorragend - man erreicht alles in wenigen Minuten. Die Zimmer sind sauber und normal eingerichtet. Das Bett und die Matratze war super komfortabel. Ich buche das Hotel auf jeden Fall wieder, wenn ich nach Patan komme.

El hotel tiene una excelente ubicación y un fantástico personal, atento y preocupado. Si viajas sola o solo mujeres este es un excelente lugar. Además, siempre están dispuestas a ayudar y tratan de darte una solución a lo que necesitas. Las camas son muy cómodas y en general todo está muy limpio. Las habitaciones de buen tamaño y con instalaciones nuevas.

La humedad de la habitación. No había calefactor, y llegaba poco sol. Sentimos mucho frío. Fuimos al final del invierno.

I loved the heritage style apartment with cooking facilities, the great staff and that I had a separate entry. It was all hassle free and I appreciated it so much.

It's of great value. In my opinion you get more than you pay. The hotel is centrally located and tugged away in a small alleyway, so it's not as noisy as most hotels in the old town center of Patan. Not many options for breakfast but if you are not staying for long, it's efficient and healthy. The hot water and wifi are both stable - can't say the same for most hotels in Nepal!

While most staff were friendly, respectful and helpful, the night shift staff was unfriendly to us. He was very rigid, slow in service and invaded our personal boundaries, such as trying to read our emails while we worked in the lobby. The larger double room offering "landmark view" doesn't really have any view.

Super hotel in a perfect location .. Right in the centre but hidden in a backstreet. The room was lovley, and the staff and breakfast were fantastic too. An airport taxi was also arranged for 3:30am. This hotel is great value and comes highly recommended!

Quite comfortable and private

The location is convenient, being close to the famous Durbar Square, though it’s frustrating that you have to pay to walk by it, especially when you’re staying nearby (perhaps it can be improved by negotiating with the authorities). This forces you to either sneak past the guards or take a longer route. The room is clean but somewhat small for the price. However, it comes well-equipped with essentials like toiletries, a hair dryer, and towels. Breakfast is simple but ok; however, I found it misleading when they mentioned at check-out that coffee was complimentary. If I were expected to pay for it, this should have been clearly communicated beforehand rather than presenting it as a "discount" on what I thought was included with the breakfast price. On a positive note, the staff is friendly.

I was surprised to learn that my booking was canceled after check-out, citing an issue with my card, even though I stayed at the hotel and paid in full by card. Fortunately, I can still provide a review of my stay. Be aware that there is no elevator, and the stairs are quite steep and narrow, so keep this in mind when deciding whether to book here.

It was a nice apartment room. Bed was on the top floor with rooftop views typical of Patan. The staff were very helpful and the room was clean. Bed was comfortable. The location was excellent, just off the main square.

As it was top floor it was quite hot. We were given a room fan however which helped.

This was a really nice hotel, in fact, a little gem hidden in Patan, and I can highly recommend. It has a nice vibe, and they serve great coffee (always a bonus when travelling)

Variety in Breakfast missing , every day only egg omlet and cut fruit , no other option. Jet spry in rooms are missing which is a concern for indian travellers.Difficult for aged travellers as no lift. Demand of extra % charges if paying by credit card was not anticipated though in my case they waived off upon resistance.Hot water availability issue.

It was my first time staying in a hotel in Nepal and I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was clean, cozy, and extremely comfortable, making it a great place to relax. The location was also perfect, with easy access to everything I needed. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!

The stay was generally good, but the lack of a lift made it a bit inconvenient, especially with luggage.

Excellent location with the view of the city and lake from the room and the adjacent terrace. The host has been phenomenal in communicating throughout the booking to checkout. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting with your family or friends. And if the weather is good, dinner and breakfast on the terrace is a definite yes.

Very nice new hotel! Everything was very clean and comfortable - good bed, wifi, very hot shower. The location in a little courtyard is very nice and means no street/motorbike noise. The staff are great - very friendly and helpful. They even remembered our food preferences when we came back after a two week trek! The location is very close to the Patan Darbar Square, lots of restaurants and so on.

This is a newly renovated hotel with very comfortable rooms and lobby. The shower has excellent hot water. The staff are extremely friendly and helped us organize our trip. The location is superb, just a three-minute walk to the famous Patan Durbar Square, making it easy to explore this historic district on foot. The breakfast is solid, and overall, it’s an excellent value, exceeding our expectations. Highly recommended!

The hotel is in an amazing location, very central Patan and just a 1 minute walk to Darbar Square. The room and bed is very comfortable and the location is amazingly good. Dines and Alisha are very kind and warm and responsible. You can also have cheap laundry here.

basic comfortable room, matrasses were really good, warm water in the shower. The breakfast was good, and the two ladies at the reception/breakfast bar were really friendly and professional

however, the man who works at the reception spoke rudely to my boyfriend who is nepali, addressing him as 'ta' which in nepal is considered extremely rude to a customer. Staff should be polite and professional to all customers, no matter their race or nationality

We really enjoyed our stay! The hotel is situated in a nice, recently renovated building in a calm side yard and very centrally located, just a few steps away from Darbar square. In addition, Alisha our host did everything to make our stay comfortable and make us feel at home.

The rooms do not have A/C. Although this is clear from the description I want to point it out as it might be an issue for some in the hot season.

Hotel location was excellent. It is literally 2mins walking distance to Patan Darbar Square. The hotel manager and staff are exceptional. Ayush organised the airport transfer and late check in for me. Alisha took the effort to arrange a rider to come pick me up and take me sightseeing. It was really easy to communicate with the team through whatsapp if you need help. Highly recommend!
