My family and I absolutely love this place. We will definitely be back. To start, the concierge / person that helped us get the place (Damaris) is an exceptional woman and an angel sent from heaven. If I could meet her in person, I'd give her a big hug. She has helped us with everything we need. About the Surfing Turtle. This place is beautiful, cozy, great for family or just to relax, by yourself. It has everything you need, all the way up to Q-tips. Take note, there is no washer and dryer but there is a luindry facility, literally two minutes away. The Surfing Turtle is right in the middle of everything we scheduled to do. It's in walking distance from the beach, 16 minutes from Fajardo, where we did the Catamaran, snorkeling tour. 10 minutes from the kiosk of Luquillo, which has more beautiful beach access and a ton of kiosks and restaurants to choose from and souvenir shops. If you love the rainforest, like me, you're 7 minutes from the entrance road to El Yunque. When I say you're in the middle of all the great things Puerto Rico has to offer, I mean it. I know anyone that stays here will enjoy as my family and I have. We are Greatfull!
That I wasn't able to meet Miss Damaris, in person, to give her a hug of gratitude and thank her personally. But God has blessed us and I know he has passed it on in spirit!
Location and facilities were awesome. They provided beach chairs and towels. Beautiful property.
A LOT of street noise at night, but certainly not the fault of the property.
The neighborhood seemed sketchy but inside our room it was perfect. Clean and comfortable bed and linens. Nice bathroom with good shower.
ALL the bed pillows were huge and puffy. A small person cannot get comfortable with a huge overstuffed pillow!
Had everything you need for a nice stay
Everything was perfect just a bit noisy but that is expected being on a main road
Great location, great facilities. Nice small touches in the room. Coffee and beach chairs were a nice surprise
Very, very noisy. Right in the thick of the strip. Loud music and boy racers driving past all night, every night. We had a great time here regardless, but don’t expect to get any sleep. Earplugs were provided by the hosts to ease the pain.
Close and walkable to everything. Easy parking.
Super small room but was okay for a short stay.
Great location, extremely clean, and super helpful and considerate staff
The area is a bit noisy but they have no control over that
Restaurant was across the street
It’s so dirty outside property

The location was excellent - very close to the beach. The entire facility is very cute and clean and the decorations are done well, which adds to the ambiance of the entire place. The place looked just like the pictures. They provided plenty of shower and beach towels and beach chairs, which we carried and used at the beach. Getting into the room was easy and the beds were very comfortable. I highly recommend. Luquillo is a charming town with great beaches and good food.
No complaints
Grande chambre confortable, facile avec l’accès via un code. Bonne communication avec les hôtes. Petite ville sympa avec de nombreux restaurant et commerces. Parking dans la rue facile
Chambre sur rue et donc très bruyante.
I Loved our stay and will love to go back and already have recommended to family members.
Perfect
The property is in a great condition and in a good place! Walking distance to food options. La Plaza is right there! The host replied fast and sent us important information, even though there is not a front desk. Although the property has no parking, it was easy to park on the street. Note: loud music and loud cars pass midnight was a minor detail we didn’t like. Our room was right on the street.
Place was wonderful beach really close walking distance . Really clean ,comfortable, property really maintained. I will definitely be back . I recommend to anyone and everyone. Staff was on point.
Super clean beautiful place with views and walking distance to the beach! Amazing restaurants right across the street! Fell asleep to the sound of the coquis and salsa music!!!
Places to go and things to do
Muy limpio, muy buena ubicación. Personal amable y atento.
I had a great stay here! The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The location is excellent — very close to the city center and the beach. Check-in was smooth, and the host was friendly. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, and I’d be happy to come back!
The hotel is wonderful. Every morning I was able to come outside and watch the sunrise while enjoying my morning coffee. The hotel is super clean and the staff were very pleasant whenever we interacted with them. The manager reached out also ensuring we were having a great stay. Me and my kids were able to have breakfast, lunch and dinner and were mesmerized by the beach view. We would definitely come back on our next trip.
Room 7 was just perfect for our quick getaway to Puerto Rico. Conveniently located close to the activities we wanted to do, El Yunque, Luquillo Beach, Ferry Boat to Vieques and Culebra, and many golf courses. The room was modern and comfortable, and staff was easy to contact and accommodating. Check in and check out was as easy as can be. Would definitely stay again.
We just spent one night but wished we stayed more days. The place was very convenient for our family of four. Great places to eat nearby and lovely beaches.
For the party people os right in the Middle of a nice plaza and lots of restaurantes and bares and within 2 min walk to the beach
Clean quiet
Effortless check-in and check-out procedure. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again!
My sister and I had a great stay at The Surfing Turtle Inn. The property was clean, the room was clean, decorated beautifully, and had everything we needed for comfortable stay. Expresso machine, refrigerator, bottle opener, glassware, beach chairs, towels, cotton swabs, stops. The beds were comfortable and the AC was just right! We loved the location! Quaint, busy coffee shop across the street, Coffee Therapy, from the Inn, a spirit store, burger joint and other delicious food options within a block distance. Minutes away from a local strip of restaurants, bars and a beach full of action. We are already looking forward to a future stay!
Very close to Luquillo beach and good restaurants close by.
It is very very loud at night. They provide ear plus abs know how bad it was. We called because the nose was keeping us awake and clearly got violent. The owner said it was normal there and nothing he could do about it. It hairband. He claimed he calls the police but they don't care or come. Ruined part of our trip because we were so exhausted from not sleeping.
Place was clean and beautiful inside and out the views are amazing and right across the street to various restaurants
I was pleased with my stay and would stay again if I was on the second floor. The property kindly moved me, as the ground floor does have some noise issues and also with the rain, my colleague had water coming into her room. But on the second floor it was very nice.
This property was perfect for exploring the area and quick walk to the beach and incredible dining options just across the street. The staff responded quickly and when our rooms AC unit had issues they were immediate in response and moved us to another available room! It is a town with friendly people and on the weekends has a bustling night life so may not be great for families with kids but my husband I loved every minute ❤️
The context of this stay was a one-night stay (on a Tuesday night) during a 5-day tour I did of Puerto Rico with my father, age 78. We booked two rooms, room 2 and 3, one of which has a single king-sized bed and the other a queen-sized bed. Dad had room 2 and I had room 3. This is a fine choice if the focus of your travel is the place you are visiting rather than the accommodations. I would be less keen on this property if there were going to be a lot of "in-room" time. But if you're mostly going to be out and about, and using the room mainly for sleeping and showering and using the bathroom, this is a great property: clean, comfortable, safe, affordable. There is no lobby or attended desk. There's a numeric keypad on the room doors. On the day of your arrival, you will receive a text message with the numeric code for your room(s). Guests are asked to send a text to announce their check-in, and similarly report their check-out. The rooms are somewhat minimalist but are clean and comfortable. There's a small "dorm size" refrigerator. There is no parking on-site, but it was pretty easy to find nearby on-street parking on a Tuesday evening. I suspect it might be more difficult to find parking on weekends when there are more day-trippers for the nearby beach, but I don't know for sure. Luquillo Beach is an easy 5-minute walk. The stretch of beach off to the east is lengthy span of undeveloped, natural beach devoid of condos, apartments, or any other shoreside development. In the rooms are a supply of beach items for guests to use, including beach chairs. There's a nice second-floor outdoor patio with a couple of picnic tables. There's a small cafe across the street that seemed to be a popular breakfast option for tourists. For the less culinarily adventurous, a McDonalds and Wendy's are a 3-minute drive, as is a large supermarket called Amigo. Some of these reviews mention noise. We did not experience any noise from other guests. But do be aware there are some occasional noisy vehicles that come down the street, stereos blasting, or with modified exhaust systems designed to maximize engine noise. One oddity that may make some guests cringe is that a sign in the bathrooms directs guests not to place toilet paper in the toilet; you're supposed to put it in the wastebasket next to the toilet. I encountered this in some other places in Puerto Rico. If this makes you think, "ew, gross", well, to put this politely, you can use the shower to take care of that which toilet paper would ordinarily accomplish. The one main complaint I would have is that after making the reservation (for two rooms) and getting the confirmation, I noted a $70 cleaning fee (which I presume is $35 per room). As I recall, this fee was not disclosed anywhere on the website until after I completed the reservation. The inn is still a good value even with the cleaning fee, but it seems kind of sneaky and underhanded to toss this in after the guest has provided his or her credit card information and made the reservation, which is subject to a 10% penalty for cancellation. Overall, a good choice, and I give it a thumbs up provided you're not going to be spending a lot of waking hours in the room.
Great location
High quality and convenient stay in the middle of Luquillo. The room was very clean, comfortable, and modern, albiet small. The room also came with beach towels, beach chairs, and an umbrella, which we took full advantage of. This is also conviently located to El Yunque and many great beaches.
This small hostel is on one of the side streets that leads to the plaza. So you don't get the direct noise from the plaza but you're right there! It's also a 5-minute drive from the famous Luquillo restaurant row. The king room was very comfortable. All of the details were right on point! The coffee bar/convenience area was such a pleasure. Aside from offering a working fridge, microwave and coffee maker, they also have a couple of mugs and ... wine glasses with a wine bottle opener! The details let you know there was a lot of love poured into the concept of this room. From the decor to door stoppers, TV, hair dryer, turtles on the duvet. Right in the room there are beach chairs and umbrellas. The beach is a 3-minute walk! Also nearby are restaurants, bars and a cool, open-air area with a small stage with live music right on the beach boulevard. We got a chance to glance quickly at the room with the bunk beds and it looked very clean and roomy. Don't forget to have breakfast on the rooftop! You get a small view of the beach, and the wood bunks are just calm. There are rooms up there, as well.
The host went above and beyond their means to accommodate us. There was a problem with the room that we booked, but then were shifted to a bigger room. The host was very responsive and provided us with information when we needed. Kids enjoyed sleeping in the bunk beds. Parking were available nearby and the beautiful beach was just a few minutes of walk. There were plenty of restaurants in the area and great breakfast place just infront of the hotel. Great work, keep it up.
This place was amazing! My mother and I stayed in Luquillo for this first time and the area was great! Restaurants and little spots just walking distance! Luquillo kiosks just 7 mins drive away! The room was beautiful! We would definitely stay again!
It’s a nice room, but was very loud.
Very new and fresh
Location, decor, rooftop lounge all wonderful. Great restaurants in walking distance. The behavior of the locals with the loud/blaring music and racing up & down the streets to the early morning we could have done without that so thank you for the ear plugs. Beach chairs and umbrella really enhanced our visit to the beach!
You cannot imagine the noise you would be getting if you stayed here. They did not sound proof the room at all and people party literally across the street till 3 in the morning blasting music and occasionally use the street for racing.
The location is great for the beach. The room has everything you need and more... beach chairs, umbrella, a yoga mat was great! The patio with the view on Ocean is great!
The AC directly sending air on the bed. The Saturday night party in town(I understood that night why there were ear plugs in the room!) No convenience store close or grocery.
Love it very quite
This is an excellent home base from which to enjoy the east side of the island. The rooms are excellent and a great coffee shop literally steps from the front door. Very close to the town square. Do be prepared for road noise and lively folks outside but the owners are aware and provided earplugs - although I did not need them. If you like being in the heart of the action and have a super cute place to stay... this is it! The parking is roadside but we were able to get a spot right outside our door every day... not an issue at all.
They provide beach chairs and yoga mats! These perks are greatly appreciated! Short walk to the beach.
There is no one on the property. They respond through messaging but there isn’t anyone on site or tourist information available to guide you.
Wonderful rooms and close to the ocean. View from shared space is wonderful. Saturday night is loud due to street parties but that is also part of the charm. They provide wonderful coffee and ear plugs. We would stay here again!
Cute little unit with all you need for a short stay. The staff were very resceptive to our needs. We enjoyed our 4 night stay and would recommend when visiting Luquillo.
Fun location very close to all the action and Sama a great restaurant on the beautiful beach nearby. Comfortable room.
A bit noisy for us oldies, but fun part of town away from the touristy strip.
The property owner was easy to reach. There’s plenty of bars and restaurants in the area, but getting to the beach is a bit inconvenient. The upstairs patio was very nice, the beds were comfortable and rooms were well supplied.
I stayed in Puerto Rico by myself and this property was absolutely convenient and close by took everything I needed for my very short stay I recommend the surfing turtle to anyone who wants to feel like a local! The police station is right around the corner not that you need it. Food was accessible right across the street with a great breakfast and dinner. I highly recommend the surf surfing turtle!
This hotel is a real gem. We needed a place to stay in Luquillo before getting the ferry a day later to Vieques. The hotel was clean, perfectly situated to enjoy Luquillo restaurants and bars, and the owner responded to questions very quickly. Really could not have been happier with The Surfing Turtle!
The room and patio were great! 5 minute walk to the beach. There is no front desk, but the service through text messaging was great, with good directions to get to the hotel, where to park, and how to access your room. The only down side was the noise from outside, with loud music from the bar on the corner, and jerks drag racing down the street into the wee hours of the morning, music blaring. Also a couple of yappy dogs nearby bark all night long. But aside from the noise, it was a lovely stay!
It was a great location and property. We enjoyed it.
It was not beachfront. The king bed is really 2 twins pushed together and one of them was noisy. You can’t control the water temperature in the shower. The kitchen area could use more lighting.
Nice big clean shower. Good air conditioning
The owner was very easily contacted with any questions or concerns. We did find it a bit loud outside on Sunday night but all was quiet by 11:30pm. Nothing a pair of ear plugs won’t fix. Pull out couch was very comfortable and spacious for our 13 year old and the bed was comfortable as well
Clean, modern room (room 2), quick walk to the beach and restaraunts. Nice little touches like complimentary beach chairs, hair dryer, coffee, water. Super easy check in and out.
The shower is super pretty and nice fixtures BUT the shower pressure goes away after 2 minutes, shower temp turns cold randomly and stays cold unless you mess with it a bit and the shower has no means to keep water going towards the drain, water will be all over the bathroom and pool behind the toilet. The street noise is insane (we stayed Sunday to Monday) so I wouldn’t recommend if you’re a light sleeper, have kids or need any type of quietness to sleep (the complimentary earplugs did not help BUT it was very nice of them to provide them anyways. They can’t control street noise)
The facility is nice and the rooms are well appointed but the road noise and traffic at night is a problem. The restaurants near by are great but I would not return because of the noise. They need speed bumps on the road in front of the hotel or something.
Room is comfortable Staff not present but reacting very fast on messages
It's not really a problem, but there is a step in the floor and you have to be careful not to fall
Quaint Inn nestled within a friendly neighborhood. You can see the beach, which is within walking distance of the Inn, from the balcony. Cute coffee shop right across the street. Easy self check-in and out. Room was spacious and modern. The bed is listed as a king but is two twins pushed together with a mattress connector. The mattresses are comfortable but the dip that's created if the mattress connector isn't secured correctly is very uncomfortable. Overall I really like the Inn and would booked with them again.
The surfing turtle is truly a gem of Luquillo! A very nice room! Clean has all the amenities and so fun to walk to many restaurants, bars and the ocean ! I would highly recommend this place!
The location was only a block from the beach and near all sorts of good restaurants. The only drawback was the road noise, which we were aware of going in. If you can, get a unit in the back (5,6,7) where the noise might not be as bad, but some of the cars had such loud subs that I think you could probably hear them loud and clear all the way to the beach! The room itself was spacious, the bed was comfy, the shower nice and hot, and all the amenities were there, including coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Parking was within a block of the inn. Check in was easy and they were very communicative.
Not really a hotel, but more like an Air BNB with self check in and no reception area. Nice clean and modern room with everything we needed, including coffee and waters complimentary. We stayed here for 3 nights to visit El Yunque and surrounding beaches. The top floors 6 and 7 have the nice view of the ocean, and the roof deck outside. Great location for these day trips. This area of Luquillo also has some good restaurants and a nice cafe across the street for breakfast. Easy street parking.
Cute property with a nice rooftop deck and a great walk in shower. Loved the beach chairs and umbrellas that were at our disposal. Very short walk to the beach and a great bar and grill and coffee shop right across the street!
This was hard to rate. The room was great, very comfortable bed and lovely ambiance - we were very excited upon arrival. Communication with the staff was all via platform (never saw anyone) but the instructions and responsiveness was good. There was a country wide power-outage when we arrived and while the property doesn't have a generator, the staff were very gracious around how this might impact our stay if we needed to explore alternative options. There is no on-site parking but we were able to easily park on the streets around the accommodation. The room also had beach towels, sun chairs and an umbrella which was a delightful touch.
The noise. I would recommend requesting not to stay in room 1 or 2 located on the street front of the building. There were extremely loud cars and even louder boom boxes along the street until the early hours of the morning (after 1am). It literally sounded like they had placed a large speaker directly outside our door. It is a popular area with a few restaurants and bars around, but we have never stayed anywhere so noisy. If you love to stay out all night this may not be a problem - we had an 8am flight so for us, not so great.
This was hard to rate - we loved the location and the accommodation...but the night noise was atrocious, particularly on the weekend. I would recommend requesting not to stay in room 1 or 2 located on the street front of the building if you are not a night owl or have exceptionally good earplugs or noise cancelling headphones. The good: The room was great, very comfortable bed and lovely ambiance - we were very excited upon arrival. Communication with the staff was all via platform (never saw anyone) but the instructions and responsiveness were good. If you love to stay out all night this may not be a problem - we had an 8am flight so for us, not so great. I resorted to ear plugs and followed by a stiff sleeping tablet at 1am.
Great stop on our way to Vieques. The food truck area had a band a good food. The ST offered make your coffee in your room better than Americano across the street!!
It was better than we expected
Room was great.... However its location to the night life is great..... Very load music and vehicles racing on the street till 2am maybe longer.... finally left at 2am to get some sleep
Very close to beautiful beach. Breakfast spot across the street was delicious!
The area around the place was very run down. The liquor store at the end of the street was a very busy local hangout. A little uncomfortable since I was a single woman with kids traveling!
Smooth check in and out procedures. Property was clean and as expected but every time it rained (which was often) the window leaked leading to large puddles on the floor. We sacrificed most of our towels to keeping the floor and our belongs dry.
Great place to stay!!
I didn’t see one cop the entire time I was there. That should tell you how safe Loquillo is. On the weekends it’s loud all weekend. There was someone over the loud speaker till about 6am but I slept through it for the most part. It’s very walkable and have a few great restaurants in the area. The room was so clean. I went solo and never felt like I was in danger. The beach is right around the corner. There is good coffee and breakfast across the street and a liquor store/bar pretty much across the street. Loved it.
Everything was amazing. Only negative was no parking. Positive is the staff are very communicative and friendly. Place was clean and up to par
The beds are excellent and super comfortable. AC is really good. You'll have to find parking on your own though. Otherwise, I would definitely come back again on my future trips to Puerto Rico
It was awesome. Enjoyed every minute.
The decoration, smelling, the location in a way
The location; it’s in front of a street and my room was in front too. The noise from outside
