Location and room set up
Value for money , the restaurant food was great and excellent service
The room was comfortable and the restaurant food excellent and not expensive.
We had a stunning stay. The room was awesome, and the food amazing. The staff were all friendly and courteous, and extremely helpful.
Nothing could have been better.
Door couldn't lock. No hair dryers in rooms.
Didn’t eat breakfast
People we’re noisy.
The restaurant was good.
The rooms and bedding can be updated. The TV did not work properly. The ash try outside was not clean. The toeilet room is very small.
The place is tranquil and well maintained. The staff are friendly.
Nothing
The location is ideal for travellers
The breakfast was so-so. My bacon was boiled white, yes white, while my partner's bacon was as you would expect bacon to look with breakfast. They should have visible floor management at the restaurant to ensure quality is upheld. This is a cold area of the country and the evening and the morning we left, there was no hot water in our bathroom. I shouldn't have to take a cold shower and resorted to washing with a face cloth. Not good.
Very neat and fresh
The room does not have a twin plug points, I struggled to charge my phones.
Exceptional restaurant for location. More than enough for what we needed for our stay.
Bed could do with a new mattress, but still comfortable for the one night stay.
Easy access from N1, and well positioned for no traffic noise. Well priced overnight stop. Safe environment. The restaurant offered great meals.
Nothing that bothered us.
The location is perfect if you are traveling from Johannesburg to Cape Town or Mossel Bay. There is a restaurant on site. I was extremely cold outside, but cozy and warm inside.
General quality has much improved over the 55 years or so I've been coming here. Staff friendly and helpful - at our request changed room on arrival without a murmur. Dinner at restaurant very good.
Since the recent upgrade it's still difficult to find the front gate! One or two prominent illuminated signs would be a great help.
Friendly, the new upgrade in the Restaurant area is good, Restaurant upgrade also good
All good.
We had an awesome stay as usual. The staff were all friendly, courteous and extremely professional. The dinner we had was absolutely top class, and the staff amazing. We loved our stay and will be back again soon. Thank you to all for making our stay so pleasant.
There was absolutely nothing that we did not like. We had a wonderful stay.
Staff are outstanding

Dinner, steak was a bit tough
Convenient location with a decent restaurant suitable for an overnight stay. The room was a little small but fine for a one-nighter. The food at the restaurant was quite acceptable, maybe the menu could have been a little more extensive. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well with plenty of hot water.
For the price I wouldn't expect more, we were were comfortable
The rooms are very clean, and the restaurant is exceptionally good.
Easy to make booking, friendly atmosphere, professional staff
Clean with a lovely restuarant. Just what I needed.

The fact that the property has a full on restaurant makes it very convenient. The food was very nice and even the next mornings breakfast.
Nothing to dislike
Easy access, great restaurants with good food and big showers
Small bed for a couple, no sound proof. Excessive noise from guests on adjacent room. Not great for family if you need private. You have all the tree beds in the same room. So not ideal for family.
The rooms are comfortable for travelling layovers. Parking is right by your room which makes carrying luggage easier. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room had a weird smell.
Very convenient
We found gloves on our bed obviously from the people that stayed there the night before. It made us wonder if the bedding was changed.
Convenience and trailer parking
Convenient
Location for one night sleepover from Cape Town are perfect
Everything was as expected for a nights stay
The staff at Merino Inn were very friendly and helpful when we arrived. The rooms were neat and clean, and everything necessary for a comfortable stay was available.
There was nothing that was disliked.
Great location. Quiet. Restaurant on site.
Cheap and what we needed.
Room smelled of animal pee.
The spacious room
The view.
Prioximity to the National Roads, flexibility and staff customer centricity.
Nothing
Close to the N1 with nice restuarant and friendly staff
Rooms may need a revamp at some stage
Spacious & comfortable
Outside light and hairdryer did not work.
The food at the restaurant was great
More plugs in the room, not enough plugs to charge devices, we only had 1 plug
Easy access and egress
Nothing
Very convenient with a restaurant onsite and clean rooms, well priced. They also have backup power which was great during the level 6 warning and actual snow we got on our way back home.
Nothing
They have upgraded the whole dinning room, bar and kitchens. The Sushi bar was excellent and very unexpected.
Clean and well maintained and welcoming
Awesome place. Perfect for an over night stay
The restaurant
Broken shower, cold water dirty towels
The friendly staff, clean and spacious room, the room had everything needed to make the stay comfortable.
It wasn’t easily accessible as the gps couldn’t really locate it. The aircorn made some noise.
Cleanliness and friendly staff. We love the outdoors area, especially if you have kids.
The trucks at night which pass by on the N1 is a bit noisy.
There is a good restaurant on site, I had a delicious evening meal after a long day of travelling.
There is quite a bit of noise coming from trucks at the nearby truck stop.
Clean
The meal was overpriced
Quick and effortless check-in
A bit noisy(as to be expected due to close proximity to the highway.
Locatie en eten in het restaurant
Een kussen en een handdoek waren niet volledig schoon
Good value
N1 noise at some rooms
Room spacious. Clean.
Aircon didn't work for the size of the room. No bottled water in the room.
Excellent restaurant on-site
Location. Room size. Beds. TV.
No soap. Slightly outdated. No carpets and floor freezing cold which made the stay challenging. Aircon took some time to work but that at least warmed the room. Front door causes a loud bang to close and the door halves didn’t lock together so annoyingly problematic to open and close.
Food, room and room tempature

The rooms aren't all the same.I liked the bigger rooms in C block on the way down. But the rooms in block A were smaller, which is an issue with small kids.
Friendliness Great Food Conveniently located Comfy beds
It is a nice and comfortable. The place is at a good location.

The staff was great! Neat and very friendly
The beds was a bit uncomfortable!
The Receptionist was very welcoming! The restaurant food was good.
I don't like the fact Merino Inn is advertised as a hotel. There's a vast difference between the two. Merino Inn I feel is actually a MOTEL. The photos on the website would lead you to believe it's a hotel. The dining room had absolutely no atmosphere.. no soft background music. At dinner the waitrons were standing at the counter glaring at all the patrons eating. I felt incredibly uncomfortable. The pillows were hard as rocks and very old. Unless we're desperate, I doubt we'll stay there again.
Good food in the restaurant
Location enroute to Gauteng was perfect and amenities such as restaurants and petrol station were easily accessible.
Family friendly space, the views, US clean motel feel, you step out your car is there, you step in, there's a clean space for everyone. Enough beds, an excellent stay over spot! You will like it!
Our aircon wasn't working, the staff got us a heater instead. Our unit was not properly inspected after cleaning, we found the previous guests items in the room.
Breakfast was excellent, service was great, very helpful and pleasant to my family
Easy access from the roads Rooms all over the property around the main building Padstall with great food at good prices belonging to the Hotel next to the entrance gate Easy parking infront of room with trailer
It was a great stay
Spacious, clean with onsite restaurant and friendly service. Absolutely recommended to overnight between Cape Town and Joburg.
I specifically chose the Merino Inn as my accommodation as I was traveling alone and it provided safe and secure overnight stay. Upon check in and entering my room I has issues with the TV. I was specifically wanting to watch a certain sports channel, and it required a smart tv. As the hotel had various rooms with various tv's I tried a few different rooms, which might seem to be a complaint. The service and helpfulness I received from the front desk was exceptional! A slight bother of finding the right room to watch the sport I was looking for had the potential to turn into frustration for both parties. It was the most exceptional example of customer service! The front desk went out of their way to help and accommodate, including to mention that they would have the game on the tv at the bar if I wanted to have a drink and watch. The room was great, mattress comfortable and great pillows. Food at the restaurant fantastic. Will definitely stay again- and special thanks for the exceptional hospitality!
Initial room with a tv with no sound was disappointing, but the measures to correct this beyond fantastic!
Beautiful hotel. Close to the N1. Room was lovely & nice spacy room. Hotel reception area and inside the hotel itself is so beautiful and welcoming. The rooms are on the outside with little patios. Very cute. We went for a walk around the hotel and to the shop as it is close to the farmstall which has a coffee shop inside and KFC opposite the road. Very very close to the petrol station as well. But the best part of all is the beautiful restaurant in the hotel. The Cape Malay Lamb Curry is the BEST I have tasted, I will forever dream of it, super soft meat that just melted in your mouth. Menu has many options, even sushi. The whole atmosphere is truly amazing. Room has a fridge and small coffee/tea station and microwave. Beds were comfy and linen and bedding especially it being so cold, the bedding was nice and warm.
only 2 tiny issues which is not really any big deal. We bought milk as i am not a big fan of powder milk and thankfully there is a fridge. There is no disposable shower caps and i had a spare one which i used when i went to shower to avoid my hair from getting wet and rooms dont have any hairdryers which is acceptable as i had my own one. Other than that, Merino Inn Hotel is definitely worth staying at. Would recommend.
The Inn exceeded our expectations. It was exactly what we needed as a midway one-night stop on our way home. Would recommend it.

Neat and clean, friendly staff
Breakfast was delicious. Staff was extremely friendly. Reception was very good.
Nothing negative
Staff were extremely friendly. Rooms were clean. Beautiful reception area. Supper and breakfast were good.
The aircon didn't work!!! It was freeeeezing cold in that room!!! Tried to report the problem without success. Could not unlock the glass door.
Like the location, halfway between Pretoria and Cape Town.
Although the restaurant has been renovated it looked too clinical. On a very cold evening the staff kept on opening the patio doors and a chilling wind blew in. In terms of the meal I ordered I did not like it at all. The "Karoo' lamb chops were thinly cut, tough and smothered with basting sauce, not asked for, and after complaining to the waiter they agreed to not let me pay for the meal. It left me hungry.
Service, staff friendliness
Very convenient and quiet. Staff excellent. Lots of hot water and thick towels!!
We had a wonderful overnight stay and enjoyed a delicious meal at the restaurant. Thank you.

The location, right next to the N1, is easily accessible. The reception was warm and friendly. The room was neat and clean with the basic amenities and a beautiful bathroom. Really the perfect layover spot for a much needed rest during a long drive.
Everything was fine. Merino Inn is next to an Engen One-stop, so petrol and Wimpy is on your doorstep.
Hard bed and flat pillows.
Beautiful new restaurant and reception area. Good food, good value for money
The room and bathroom was very clean, but attention to detail: damp areas in the ceiling, the towel rail fell out, a lot of insects in the lamp shade and mould on the basin. The outside of the building doesn't do justice to the rest of the new areas.

Need decent plug points for charging phones....Other than that an excellent stop over.
Ridiculous place
Yes
Beautiful entrance
Everything was above expectation. It was very cold and we arrived later as expected but it was no problem at all. Comfy bed, hot water. Perfect for the sleepover on our way to Nelson Mandela Bay from Gauteng.
Restaurant, reception and staff friendliness
Cold, air-conditioner was not adjustable to the desired temperature.
