Sehr enttäuschend war dasFrühstück: jeden Tag das gleiche Frühstück , gleicher Käse, gleicher Fisch, gleiche Pastete, gleiches Obst! Das Brot war alles andere als schmackhaft. Mit saisonalen regionalen Produkten auch aus dem eigenen Garten hätte man ein wunderbares und abwechslungsreiches Frühstück zusammen stellen können!

Reviewed Jul 7, 2026Vi ønsket å betale på utsjekkingsdagen men resepsjonisten klarte ikke å håndtere våre regninger. Vi betalte bare en del av regninger og så fikk vi tilsendt en resterende faktura med mange feil. Vi reiste med et vennepar og ønsket å få delt de vi har kjøpt på to respektive rom, det informerte vi om både ved innsjekking og dagen før utsjekking. Den løsningen var dessverre ikke mulighet, svaret vi fikk var at vi bør gjøre opp regningen oss imellom ved å kontrollere enkelte poster på fakturaen men vi husket ikke navn på drikkevarer og maten vi bestilte under oppholdet. En slik håndtering fra hotellets side er kritikkverdig og ikke i tråd med den servicen man med rimelighet kan forvente.

Mangelen på mat. Vi var klar over at den 6 retters menyen ikke ble servert på søndag, men ikke at det betyr at det er absolutt INGEN form for mat å få. Det er heller ingen andre serveringssteder i nærheten. Kunne rettet seg med en god frokost, men den dukket aldri opp. Fikk etter hvert kaffe, brød og iskaldt smør med helt standard pålegg fra pakke. Etter å ha ventet i tre kvarter reiste vi til Kristiansand og spiste frokost på kafé.

Reviewed Jun 28, 2026מלון מדהים, ממוקם על שפת נחל ומפלים שניתן לדוג ולטייל באיזורם, וגם לטייל באחוזת המלון היפהפיה כשלעצמה. החדר מדהים ביופיו ונקיונו, וגם האזור המשותף יפה ומזמין. יש גם מטבח משותף מאובזר, אך לא נראה שהוא בשימוש של מישהו..הצוות חביב מאוד, ארוחת בוקר מוגשת באופן אישי. המלון מרוחק ממרכז עיר ויישוב.

Reviewed May 29, 2026Da braucht man gar nicht viele Worte für...es ist ein wunderschöner Platz zum entspannen. Das Hotel, das Zimmer und der Service ist alles sehr gut.
Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen war das Frühstück... für den gehobenen Anspruch, den das Hotel ja selbst erhebt, war die Auswahl mehr als übersichtlich. Kein Joghurt mit Cerialien und nur eine Brotsorte....schade.

The staff were top tier, food was exquisite, the buildings were beautiful with a lot of history. The rooms very very clean and very comfortable and in addition a personal welcome note. Reviewed Aug 23, 2025Parfait. Le domaine est grand et calme. C’est paisible. La chambre est super bien renové. Jolie salle de bain. Lit super confortable. On a l’impression de dormir dans un nuage. Et le repas est délicieux. C est un restaurant gastronomique donc il faut le savoir. Mais la cuisine est délicieuse. Je les vois bien avoir une étoile Michelin prochainement.
Rien. Tout était parfait. Mon seul regret est de n être resté qu’une seule nuit.

Reviewed Aug 14, 2025Suggestiva la location e anche la struttura è molto bella. Validissima alternativa a un soggiorno più “urbano” a Kristiansand. Piacevole la camera e gli ambienti comuni.
Lo staff non è stato molto collaborativo soprattutto quando, appena arrivati, è mancata l’energia elettrica per 5 ore. Mi sarei aspettato maggiore aiuto per sistemarci nella stanza al buio e sotto la pioggia.

Reviewed Aug 13, 2025A most beautiful property about 15 minutes from downtown Kristiansand. Rooms were large and comfy with lovely decor. The grounds were beautiful to walk around and, if weather had permitted, we definitely would’ve spent more time on the river bank. Pierre was a great sommelier accommodating our needs in a sweet and kind way.
Being out of town you are kinda locked into the restaurant for dinner which would not be a problem if it was possible to order a la carte rather than having to choose from the three or five course meal which was expensive. Just a heads up tho: There is a communal kitchen where a meal can be prepared - we did not realize that before we arrived.

Las cajas incomidas, edredo son cortos. Las cajas supletorias son super incomodas. La habitación esta pelada a la cocina y a primera hora se escucha la llegado de gente andando. El precio me parece excesivo.

Reviewed Jul 20, 2025An sich eine wunderbare Location! Toll gelegen und ein ganz besonderer Charme. Die Küche ist herausragend! Leider hatten wir etwas Pech mit einigen Dingen: Unser Zimmer war extrem hellhörig. Jedes Rücken eines Stuhles und jeder Gang war leider zu hören und hat uns leider auch den Schlaf gestört. Etwas Befremdlich war auch, dass es keinen Schrank oder Kommode für die Sachen gibt. Das heißt, dass man sprichwörtlich aus dem Koffer lebt. Dann wurden wir aufgefordert in ein anderes Hotel zu ziehen, da man übersehen hat, dass eine Hochzeitsgesellschaft kommt und unser Zimmer wohl doppelt vergeben wurde. Das war eine sehr unangenehme Erfahrung. Nach ein paar SMS und einem Gespräch mit der Hotelmanagerin wurde dies geklärt und wir blieben. Das Zimmer wurde einmal nicht gereinigt und nicht mit frischen Handtüchern bestückt und die Zimmerkarte wurde einen Tag zu früh deaktiviert. Deshalb gibt es von uns deutlichen Punktabzug für ein sonst tolles Hotel in einer typisch norwegischen schönen Umgebung.

Reviewed Jul 10, 2025We spent a great night over in the hotel. The territory, the nature (the waterfall also), the window views – everything looked fantastic! The hotel is very nice and pretty, it is evident how the hotel staff take care of it and cherish it. This is a very well-designed space with unique amenities. The restaurant wine list was one of the biggest we have seen in Norway, it is really variable. Although, I would like to point out some important observations that other tourists might find helpful when planning their stay
There is no help with luggage, and the territory is rather big, it would be great if someone could help and show around. There is no reception in the classical sense and no concierge, which is understandable as in Norway it is not common. It would also be great to arrange a small gym to be able to work out after a long driving or walking day (to place a yoga mat and some dumbbells, for example). As we loved the hotel very much and would like to help it to improve, I will share a feedback about our experience. There are some things that can be foreseen and fixed for the future, like the linen bed linen, the linen is a prickly material (maybe better to use other materials). There are no hangers in the bathroom for the towels as well as the big shower towels are absent. The breakfast was great, buffet style (although there is not much choice to choose and order from the menu, the service is fast, which is also good). As for the dinner, it was quite a disaster. Here I would like to share my view with the hotel to be able to create more ways to serve it. This was a set dinner consisting of 4 very small dishes (which cannot be fully modified if you have allergies or personal preferences). The dinner lasted for 3 hours, some of the family members did not even wait up for the desserts and left the table hungry and tired. Our son does not eat meat, so he was offered 2 small dishes with a piece of carrot, radish and asparagus. There are no restaurants nearby and no room service to have more options. So, my suggestion is to keep this set menu option only for those who are just visiting the hotel or celebrating some event (and have more time). As for the tourists travelling the whole day and just wanting to have dinner (with normal-size portions of meat/chicken or fish) which would not take long, it would be great to have an a la carte menu option. Maybe a small buffet will do

The dinner was spectacular, as was the wine paring. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you all!!

The room was tiny and had shared facilities. We complained that it was not a NK4,000+ room and were offered a lovely suite for the same price which we gladly accepted As stated, dinner was beautifully presented but there was no choice & we didn’t know what was coming until each course arrived and it was expensive for the quantities provided. Breakfast was disappointing.

Reviewed Sep 6, 2024Fantastic staff and extensive property along the river. Easy drive to Kristiansand. Creative food. Loved open windows with breeze and sound of river even on rainy days. Wide range of room options. We stayed in Kornhouse with common kitchen area. Staff provided wonderful salad and wine on first night so we didn’t have to drive for dinner. Beds so comfortable. Flowers throughout property inside and out were a treat.
Extra shelf in bathroom would have been nice.

Reviewed Aug 25, 2024The estate is fantastic with beautiful renovated gardens and buildings. The main house is in lovely old-fashioned style decorated. The rooms in the adjacent buildings are in modern style.
There were too many details that should have been better. The ratio price-quality was not correct. We contacted the maitre d'hotel with our observations and got a very good and pleasant reply on that. It seems that they are willing to learn and make some adjustments to get their hospitality from good to excellent.

There were fishermen parking and getting changed outside our window at times. The kitchen units didn’t close properly. The restaurant staff were sometimes a little earnest and overbearing - a Michelin star doesn’t require this. The food and wine list were good but overpriced - I have been to better Michelin star restaurants for quite a bit less money.

The room was small and had virtually no storage space. The breakfast was disappointing - there was no choice, no muesli or yoghurt were offered. Part of the reason for choosing this hotel was its restaurant, but in the end we decided not to go to it because there was no choose at all and the menu wasn’t our thing - strangely for Norway, no fish - and it was very expensive.

Reviewed Jun 28, 2023The hotel is located in an early 19th century property, which has been completely restored. It offers great comfort and a very pleasant and peaceful environment. The garden and river views are beautiful. In addition to the excellent breakfast, I recommend having dinner at the hotel's restaurant.
Location is not the best. The hotel is about 15 minutes by taxi from the airport and in the opposite direction to the city
