Reviewed Sep 16, 2026Very quaint, at top of hill, looking down over city, soft but comfy bed, great pillows. Personal nespresso maker in the room was nice touch. (Glad because I wouldn't have taken coffee in my room or at all due to the flying insects)
Bugs all out in the stairwell, dead insects all over stairs, room was on the top floor and the flying insects (flies and bees) were all over the rafters alive, but ended up dead all over the stairs. None of the windows in the room had screens, so windows could not be opened for air, unless I wanted the insect problem from the stairwell into my room. The shower door and glass were not sealed which resulted in water all over the bathroom floor. The breakfast was cold cuts and bread, I am learning is a European breakfast, all items I do not eat (this is not the hotels fault) but finding actual breakfast food out is also next to impossible in this region.

Reviewed Sep 8, 2026Beautiful location above city of St. Gallen with wonderful views across the city sprawling hills and lake Konstanz. The room was large, beautifully decorated with lots of natural lights. A small parking for the hotel and restaurant was a stone throw away.
The breakfast room is too small. There are 5-6 rooms in this hotel I believe and there is only space for the equivalent of 2 rooms to enjoy breakfast at a single time.

Breakfast is not up to the standard of the room. It is self service from the fridge with brötchen. I wonder why don't they use the restaurant facilities.

Reviewed Aug 17, 2026Das schmucke Haus und die Zimmer waren wunderschön, geräumig und ausserordentlich sauber. Die Betten waren mega bequem, die Aussicht über die Stadt St. Gallen genial. Genügend gratis Parkplätze waren ebenfalls vorhanden. Das Hotel liegt nicht direkt in der Stadt, sondern am Stadtrand, was eine schnelle Ausfahrt aus der Stadt ermöglicht, das kam uns sehr entgegen. Irgendwie haben wir das bei der Buchung nicht gesehen, dass es keine Reception hat. Das fanden wir ungewohnt, hat aber soweit gut geklappt. Die erste Nacht war es unglaublich ruhig und wir haben super geschlafen. In der zweiten war vom Stadtfest St. Gallen die Musik zu hören und der Lärmpegel leicht erhöht, aber tolerierbar. Insgesamt für 2 Nächte super.
Was uns nicht so gefallen hat, war der Selbstbedienungs-Frühstückservice, das erinnerte etwas an eine Jugendherberge. Das Frühstück selber war soweit gut, aber jetzt auch nicht herausragend im Vergleich zu anderen gleichwertigen Hotels ähnlicher Preisklasse (zumal es ja nebenan ein Restaurant hätte, welches zur Falkenburg gehört, soweit wir das verstanden haben). Der Frühstücksraum war hübsch, aber eher klein und eng, sobald sich mehr als 2 Personen darin aufhielten. Wenn jemand im Restaurant essen will, unbedingt weeeeit im Voraus reservieren! Also nicht erst nach Ankunft im Hotel, dann ist nix mehr frei und für die Hotelgäste nichts vorreserviert.

Le petit déjeuner est agréable encore plus lorsqu’il est pris sur la terrasse. J’ai pu croiser une partie de l’équipe bien que tout soit fait pour être autonome, et elle était très sympathique.

Away from it all in a peaceful perch with extensive views of city below and Lake Constance in the distance. Comfy beds with crisp linens and “natural ac “ ( open window breezes). Self serve modified, but completely adequate, breakfast in the tiny dining room or taken out to the terrace. Fresh bread delivered by 6 am… lovely staff! Loved it. Our family (5) took 3 of 4 rooms ! Everyone loved it! Restaurant food was excellent. Kareem was so lovely and helpful. Glad I found this gem! Would return if in this area again .

Le placard noir (pas assez de lumière pour voir dedans), le manque de tiroirs, manque de chaises confortables, le bouchon de l'évier qui ne fermait pas - mais surtout le SELF_SERVICE: pas de réception, pas de service au petit déjeuner, pas même les couverts sur les tables. On a l'impression qu'on s'intéresse à notre argent mais pas à nous servir! Et on a dû payer d'avance (et répondre à plusieurs e-mails).

Reviewed Jun 8, 2026I hadn't anticipated the extent to which the town is on a number of levels. The hotel is quite elevated and the view is excellent, but I was glad I took a taxi to arrive. In fact, it doesn't take as long to access the town as I thought it would, despite the fact that the funicular railway was closed the day I was there. The accommodation is very comfortable and spacious, and I was pleased that someone was there when I arrived. The restaurant was excellent, and is clearly very popular.
I think too much reliance is put on the expectation that you will self check in with an access code. Because someone was there when I arrived, this wasn't necessary, but there is a lot that could go wrong - if you can't access the message with the access code, for instance.

Reviewed May 31, 2026The hotel is beautifully located and the room, while on the smaller side, has everything a solo traveler might need. The staff is doing a stellar job and the restaurant offers a Michelin guide fine dine experience while still being reasonably priced (for the Swiss standards).
Seeing the toilet while laying down in bed is not exactly the best of views. This specific bathroom needs a door. Also, saying the room offers a view of the lake is a bit of an exaggeration, the windows are so small you can barely see anything out of them.

Reviewed Apr 9, 2026Extrem gut, hat es uns gefallen. Allein die Lage ist top. Das Zimmer, schlicht nicht zu toppen. Das Einchecken mit Code hat einfach und schnell geklappt. Das Restaurant ist bei einer Übernachtung ein MUSS! Diese Lage, Aussicht, das tolle Personal, die Herzlichkeit und die sehr gute Küche, Gastronomie vom allerfeinsten.
Auch nach langem Überlegen, ist uns nichts eingefallen...

Very comfortable and large room, each with own identity; that was a plus! The restaurant next door offers a large terrace and cozy elegant interior. We did not use the restaurant this time, but it was certainly tempting!

Reviewed Mar 30, 2026Malgré qu'il n'y a pas de personnel sur place, tout est parfaitement organisé, jusque dans les petits détails. Une ancienne maison de famille est devenue un petit havre de calme & de tranquillité, en gardant son charme d'antan, et en gagnant tout le confort moderne. La vue est magnifique, on est proche de la vieille ville (bien accessible à pied ou via le funiculaire), et des chemins de balade entourent l'endroit. Le restaurant juste en face est absolument à recommander!

Durch Eisglätte beim Wegfahren per Velo erlitt ich einen Unfall., schweren Sturz. Die komplette Falkenburgstrasse war glatt, was man nicht sehen konnte, da die Strasse weder glänzte noch gefroren aussah. Habe der Stadtverwaltung angerufen. Bitte setzten Sie sich für einen regelmässigen Winterdienst! Es war um 10 Uhr, nicht morgen früh!

Das Zimmer durften wir sogar noch auswählen und hatten ein richtiges schönes Zimmer bekommen mit sehr bequemen Betten und einer guten Ausstattung und, da das Hotel hoch über der Stadt liegt, auch sehr ruhig. Das Abendessen ( a la Carte ) war auch von sehr guter Qualität. Das Konzept des Frühstücks war etwas speziell und funktioniert, solange sich die anderen Gäste daran halten. Uns hat es gefallen in Falkenburg und werden gerne wiederkommen.
Der Türschliesser an der Haupttür zum Hotelgebäude sollte bei Gelegenheit mal etwas besser eingestellt werden, da der Bäcker bei der Brötchenlieferung um 5 Uhr das ganze Haus weckt;)

Reviewed Dec 23, 2025Zufälligerweise haben wir die Pächterin (Chefin) bei der Ankunft angetroffen. Sie war äusserst freundlich, hat uns Wege in die Stadt (inkl. Mobility-Card) empfohlen. Darüber hinaus hat uns die Lage extrem gut gefallen und die Ruhe in der Nacht. Das Frühstück war auch in Ordnung (bei Belegung aller 4 Zimmer zu knapp).

Wir sind am Abreisetag 2x gefragt worden, ob nun geputzt werden kann, obwohl es erst 9:30 Uhr war. Es hat etwas von Rausschmiss, wenn wir bis 10:30 Uhr hätten bleiben dürfen. Schade, das hat es mir etwas vermiest.

Vorteil war,daß es keine festen Zeiträume gab nach denen man sich richten musste. Das Restaurant vis-a-vis hervorragend! Die Aussicht auf St. Gallen grandios.
Besteck hat manchmal gefehlt. Kaffeemaschine musste entkalkt werden. Das war aber auch das Einzige.

Reviewed Nov 8, 2025Le petit dejener se prend dans une piece minuscule en dessous des chambres. Tout est préparé a l'avance, on ne voit aucun pesonnel . Pas d'accueil. pas de reception, tout est presse bouton. Par contre les chambres sont spacieuses avec magnifique vue sur la vallée. L'acces a la ville se fait en une dizaine de minutes. La campagne est tres jolie et commence juste derriere l'hotel
