Als wir ankamen, stellten wir zu unserer Überraschung fest, dass es einen nagelneuen Pool gibt, den wir gerne genutzt haben. Wir haben über den Inhaber eine Safari zu einem angemessenen Preis gebucht. Die Organisation hat super funktioniert.

Wer Angst vor Affen und Hunden hat, sollte nicht dort übernachten. Der Weg von der Hauptstraße ist nachts dunkel.

La struttura è in ristrutturazione,quindi fuori dalla stanza in parte è un cantiere . La colazione era fredda per la momentanea mancanza della cucina . Nelle sponde del fiume c'erano residui di plastica e immondizia.

Very nice and calm place in the jungle. Near the national park. Very helpful owner. I like style of cottages and whole area. Lot of space in the room (so it should be more hooks on clothes).

Between roof and ceilng of my cottage were bees. Sometimes one go through to the room. In the morning monkeys jump over the roof, so it was noisy :-)

I really enjoyed my staying at Wild River Side. The host was friendly and with a great organisation skills. Many thanks for welcome drink, amazing breakfasts and well organised Safari where we were lucky to see elephants that much close! P.S. Elephant Transit Home is in around 700 - 750 meters from this place which was very important for me as it was one of the main reasons of my trip to Udawalawa

One of the best stays we had in Sri Lanka. The host was really caring and did everything he could to make us feel welcomed. Not only did he arrange a private morning safari for us (for a good price), but also welcomed us with fresh juice and prepared delicious, huge breakfast and dinner. Everything fresh and home-made. The rooms were really clean and spacious. It’s a short walk from the main road so it was peaceful and quiet all day and night. All you could hear is the sound of nature. There’s a hammock in the garden, perfect for enjoying all of that. We regret staying there only one night! Would definitely go back.

Very beautiful structure full immersed in the nature. The room was perfectly clean with everything you need, also all the switch nearby the bed. The price is very cheap and the host organize safari at a very good price. Recommended

Très mal placé,bruyant, guesthouse enclavée devant un cirque ou la musique à tue-tête n'arrête pas jusqu'à 22 h. Impossible de dormir,je suis partie le lendemain. De plus la proposition pour un safari était hors de prix, alors qu'à côté c'était plus raisonnable. A fuir.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything we needed. The location is very convenient and peaceful, making it a perfect place to relax. All facilities were exactly as described, and the service exceeded our expectations. Overall, it was a great experience, and we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable and pleasant stay. We look forward to staying here again in the future.

Der Bungalow war neu, sehr komfortabel und sauber. Die Lage gibt das Gefühl, mitten im Dschungel zu sein. Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Wir hatten keine Lust noch einmal in die Stadt zu fahren und haben ein sehr leckeres und gutes Abendessen bekommen. Die Safari am nächsten Tag war hervorragend. Wir waren mit unserem TukTuk unterwegs. Der einzige Nachteil, war, dass die Anlage schwer zu finden und das letzte Stück vom Weg sehr schlecht ist.

Location molto carina e accogliente, si respira pace e tranquillità. La camera è spaziosa e dotata di aria condizionata. Colazione ottima ed abbondante, il proprietario mi ha preparato una colazione senza glutine su nostra richiesta. Inoltre ci ha organizzato il safari e il transfert per la meta di viaggio successiva. Transit home elephant dista 10 minuti a piedi.

Camera molto carina e accogliente, totalmente immersa nella natura. Straordinaria sia la cena preparata al nostro arrivo( tra l altre richiesta con pochissimo preavviso) sia la colazione. Straonsigliato!

La struttura è affascinante, immersa nel verde con un bellissimo giardino. Ci sono diverse casette che costituiscono le camere, spaziose e pulite munite di aria condizionata e zanzariera. Una delle cose più belle del soggiorno è la gentilezza dell'host, sorridente ma riservato ha sempre cercato di farci sentire a nostro agio, ha organizzato un safari al parco di Udawalawe sotto nostra richiesta, e la cena preparata da lui e dal suo staff era davvero buona, semplice ma saporita. Ci siamo fatti avvolgere da una bellissima atmosfera.

Il bagno è un po meno curato, servirebbero dei ritocchini. Trovandovi in mezzo al verde c'è la possibilità che qualche rumore proveniente da animali, vi svegli la mattina presto.

The location and the houses are amazing. You feel like you are in the jungle. We saw monkeys and pracocks in the garden and our house was really clean and comfortable. Also the terrace in front is great, and hammocks are available. The family is great! Communication beforehand was easy and fast, the owner welcomed us with a drink and organised our safari. The safari was also great - with a knowledgeable, friendly guide and a safe car. The owner cooked dinner and we loved it! You should definitely go for it once there. Also the breakfast was tasty and a lot, and we could enjoy it after our morning safari. We definitely recommend staying at wild river side, there's absolutely no reason not to do so.

The host at wild river side was very friendly, he gave my friend aloe vera from his garden for her sun burn and a lovely ginger tea on arrival. We had dinner also which was lovely. He organised our safari and departure transfer. The cabin was lovely, well equipped and had great Aircon.

I would highly recommend wild river side. Only downside was the road leading up to the property was narrow and a bit bumpy.

Nice cottage in a lush garden. Charming from the outside, simple but spacious from the inside. The owner and his family are super friendly. He arranged a good safari for reasonable price, she cooked a very delicious rice & curry, plus take a way breakfast.

The bed sheets hat strange spots on them and the family room with two beds smelled very intensely like mold! I would only book the two newer rooms with double beds

Very calm location on edge of the jungle. Lovely large rooms with ac and a terrace. Well maintained and Samira the owner was very helpful. He will organise a safari if you want.

My friends and I booked this place for one night via booking.com. When we arrived we came to know that this place (like many other places in Udawalawe) is only meant for those guests that book a safari with this place. Keep that in mind! We had already booked a Safari from another operator but were thankfully still able to stay for this one night, although the manager and owner were not happy about it. We did not have any information about this. Other than that the location and the cottages were perfect.

A lovely place in an ideal location for the Elephant Transit Home and Jeep Safari (both incredible experiences). The owner was wonderful arranging all transport and tours at very reasonable prices, even checking in on us to see what time we needed a tuk tuk home from the restaurant.

It’s really beautiful there and they have the best price-performance ratio. Very kind service! Don’t forget to try a dinner there. It’s vegetarian and really delicious. Also the organized safari and guide wer really good.

Very hostile and communicative owner. Very nice and quiet place. Just monkeys sometime run over the roof and make noise. Accomodation is roughly 600m from the elephant orphanage. There is nothing in direct vicinity but jungle. Good breakfast after safari. Safari arranged by the owner, we got picked up directly in the accommodation.

There was 12cm diameter spider in the bathroom. Girlfrend was scared but definitely nothing the owner can affect when in the jungle.

Wild River Side was the perfect place to stay for my trip to Udawalawe. Such a tranquil location with Sameera and his family being the perfect hosts. When I arrived he showed me around his garden and pointed out all the spices and plants he grows. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, I had the most restful night’s sleep and it’s truly a unique experience staying in the middle of the jungle amongst the wildlife. Sameera also organised a great safari for me with Milan. If this is part of your itinerary make sure to book through them! Afterwards the delicious home cooked breakfast introduced me to authentic Sri Lankan dishes including hoppers and their sweet pancake rolls. After checking out Sameera dropped me off at the bus stop and even waited with me to make sure I got on safely. This caring and considerate gesture reflects the hospitality at Wild River Side and I can’t recommend staying there enough.

This is a very nice and quiet place tucked away in the forest. The owner Sameera is very helpful, he arranged a safari for us and transport to Tanglle. He also cooked a lovely curry dinner for us. The visit to the elephant orphanage & museum was very interesting and the safari was a great experience, another side of Sri Lanka.

Great hospitality, and prime location to Udawale national park, and just down the road (3 min drive) from the Elephant Transit Home. The room was just like the pictures, and the surrounding forest and river are magical. We even encountered some monkeys on the property which was a nice surprise. Breakfast was filling and delicious, a combination of traditional Sri Lankan sweets and breakfast foods with fruit. The owner and workers are incredibly courteous, offered some good safari deals, and even showed us some of the cinnamon, curry leaves, and pepper plant which are all on their property. Would 100% recommend to anyone staying in the area! Extremely reasonable price.

This places it was so magic and wonderful. Quiet into the nature and close to Udawalawe. The owners it was very available and kind. I raccomend this lodge for everyone that want to visit this side of Sri Lanka. The price for this accomodation it's SUPER! Also the breakfast.

We really enjoyed staying at Wild River Side. Off the main road and set in a beautiful garden with spice trees. We had dinner there and had some of the best Sri Lankan vegetable curries so far on our trip. Owner organised transport from Ella and to Tangalle at a reasonable price as well as the jeep for the safari. The cottage was clean and had warm shower and AC.

Our best stay in Sri Lanka so far. The cottages are spacious, clean. Relaxing on the terrace is a pure pleasure. Peace, quiet, beautiful nature and close to the main street. The host is a fantastic and friendly man, he organized a safari for us at a very good price. The Sri Lankan breakfast is a masterpiece. We regret very much that we could stay there only one night.

Rooms were so nice and comfy. Breakfast was so nice and we loved the lemon ginger tea :) Four of us had a nice time there. Everything was arranged to our comfort including a last minute booking on an Udawalawa Safari.

Part of the road to the hotel was really bad , without knowing the road there were big broken parts of the road, car was hitting these unfortunately. It would have been nice to have a heads up about the road difficulties. (However, we were told it will be soon fixed, thumbs up to that (Y)

Very calm and quiet place in Udawalawa. We loved the nature around. Many birds singing in the morning and everting. You could even see a monkey swinging on the nearby tree :) We were welcomed with a cold juice. The room was spacious and clean. Very comfortable. The dinner was one of the best we ate in Sri Lanka. Delicious homemade rice & curry. The same thing for breakfast, really tasty. In our room we had a kettle, tea, coffee and a bottle of water. We were just passing through Udawalawa, but would definitely spend more time in Wild River Side if we could :) Thank you!

Everything was perfect

The accommodation is a bit off the beaten path, but that’s part of its charm. It’s a special experience to stay in a tropical environment surrounded by trees, with monkeys and peacocks roaming around the property. Everything is lovingly furnished, and the rooms are new. The host was very helpful and even organized a safari for us, with the guide picking us up directly from the accommodation. After the safari, there was a big breakfast waiting for us, and the host stayed up late just to make sure we were taken care of. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if we're in the area.

This is a great place to stay for a visit to Udawalawe National Park. The hotel is lovely, we had a wonderful home cooked breakfast and dinner made by his wife and he took us round his garden filled with different spices and trees. Would recommend.

This is an amazing little oasis in the jungle. Samir and his family are so friendly and polite. The compound is laid out really well, to ensure every bungalow enjoys privacy. We stayed in the double double bed room just over the bridge. The room and bed were very comfortable, I enjoyed my best nights sleep in days. The bathroom was impeccably clean. I asked Samir if he could help us arrange a safari, which he did. He arranged for Udawalawe Jeep Safari Services to collect us at 6AM. It was off season, so we had the jeep to ourselves.it was seamless. We are well in the open aired dinner area, entertained by a tree frog, who must have thought he was invisible, and inquisitive squirrels. . .

Loved the rooms, they were big and very comfortable. Their was air conditioning and I loved that it was in the jungle tucked away. It felt like I was in a jungle resort with monkeys everywhere and yummy food.

We stayed at the Wild River Side for two nights to make a Safari in the Nationalpark. We had a really good time at this place, the Bungalow was very nice and the location is just perfect, right in the jungle but still easy to get to. The breakfast and Dinner were really good and the host was very friendly and helpful. The price isnamazing for what you get, we definetly would recommend this place

Really nice little hotel with your own little cabin. Room is clean and tidy, bed is confortable. Incredible wildlife all around with monkeys and squirrels jumping on the roof. The family that own the hotel is really nice and always happy to help you. The food was the best we had around Sri Lanka. You should really try the dinner ! We can only recommand.

The staff was super nice and they were caring a lot about us with a lot of details. They also helped us to hire the Safari. The place was very nice, with a beautiful garden. The food was also amazing! I completely recommend this place.

Our room had everything we needed: a cozy bed, working AC, and a clean space to relax after traveling. The host even gave us cold drinks and face towels when we arrived. Plus, the peaceful surroundings allowed us to enjoy the soothing sounds of nature, with monkeys occasionally visible nearby.

Absolutely everything was amazing! Clean and big room, the owner was very nice, showed our his beautiful garden. He arranged a safari for us at a very favorable price, he gave us biscuits, water and a banana for the safari journey. The dinner and breakfast was really big and good. After our stay he took us to Ella and bought us a coconut.

Best hotel so far in Sri Lanka. The manager was very kind and caring. We got a wet towel and welcome drink and a lot of water. The room even has a fridge to cool the water. They organized a safari tour with a good price/ value. We had a 12/10 stay, whished we could have stayed longer. Also great breakfast with various options and traditional food.

The place is very beautiful. The room is big and cozy. The owners were friendly. Got a taxi to Ella recommended for a good price. Though the service was not good for it (we had to wait longer and then at the start of the trip it had to stop for refuel).

The WiFi was not working almost at all. And there was an electricity cut, while in the village everything was working fine. The place is difficult to reach

I would definitely recommend staying here for the safari! The rooms are big and extremely clean. The hosts are so nice, they did everything to help you and make you feel at home. The breakfast and dinner was the nicest food we have had in sri lanka so far! The portion size is huge, you will not be hungry. It is a bit far from the main town of udawalawe but you don’t need to go there because you have your main meals here and the safari is even closer. There are shops about 5 minutes walk away. All their spices are home grown so the food is super fresh and delicious! The surroundings of the home stay is absolutely stunning, you can hear the river running, nature around and it is so peaceful! The safari guide who is good friends with the hosts was the best in udawalawe. They worked together to provide breakfast straight after our early safari. This is the best value for money we have ever experienced! It has everything you need here, i would recommend it to absolutely everyone!

The big room misses AC, the road is not in a good condition, quite tough for the drivers to reach it.

Great place to stay for safari, good home cooked dinner and breakfast provided, owner was very nice and friendly. Definitely in nature so expect mosquitos animal noises etc but they have a mosquito net so it is not a problem. Would recommend :)

The accommodation is absolutely beautiful and the surrounding is so peaceful. Everything was perfectly clean. Very close to the safari if you intend to do it. We also had dinner and breakfast at the property and it was delicious! The owners were incredibly helpful with everything we needed and they also helped us with the transfer to Ella. I would definitely come back to this place😊

The owner is really nice. He cooks really tasty meals and tries his best. The location is wild so for those who don't like insects, weird animal noise and jungle generally, it might not be favourite place. However, it's really authentic.

this place is very good ,everything feels new and clean . Staff is very good , friendly , lady made us really huge and tasty dinner. very good place where to stay before your safari trip. location is a bit far from main town but most likely you will only go to safari anyway and u will be picked up in the morning

really only downside is location it’s a bit far from main road but at the same location is very good in between quite and nice kinda jungle where you can see and hear monkeys.

Big and clean place in the middle of the jungle. Owners were nice and they welcomed us with a glass of orange juice. Chilled water was always handed to us when we needed and the breakfast was delicious.

Nothing - a bit far out from the town, but there is a little shop and lady who does massages no further than 5 minutes, our hosts also cooked us dinner so not a problem at all.

Really nice little Hotel/Lodge with two bungalows (with a double room each). The place is surrounded by dense forest, monkeys play in the trees and everything is lush and green. The bungalow was really clean and equipped with a fan and an aircon. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were really clean. Everything worked! All the lights and switches etc. which is really rare in Sri Lanka! The wifi was so good, that I watched a littlebit Netflix before going to sleep. Overall
