Big, clean room with good AC. The bed and sheets were very smooth and comfortable. The owner was very helpful.

Très charmante guesthouse, avec un beau jardin, sécurisée, avec caméras de sécurité. Plage de l’autre côté de la route. Bien accueilli. Petits déjeuners variés si vous restez plusieurs nuits. Jolies décorations de chambre. Cuisine commune si besoin et frigidaire dans la chambre. Tout était parfait.

Everything! Host was super friendly and was able to provide laundry services, spare beach towels and an extra bed sheet. We stayed for 4 nights and had breakfast every morning which was always something different. Location was a bit far from main town but there’s restaurants walking distance (ocean mist does great pizzas) and there is a nice beach right outside with a beach cafe.

We had a lovely 4-night stay and truly had everything we needed. A clean room with AC, an extensive breakfast, a beautiful garden seating area, and a wonderfully helpful host. And all of this just 100 meters from Wild Beach, which for us was one of the nicest beaches we swam and sunbathed at on the entire trip in Sri Lanka. 100% recommend this place.

De tuin is heel fijn, je komt er tot rust evenals het zo goed als prive strand als je de deur uitloopt en de straat over steekt. 1 van onze favoriete plekjes in Sri Lanka 😍

Die Lodge ist sehr schön eingerichtet, und die Ausstattung ist insgesamt noch recht neu. Die Tür klemmt etwas durch die Wärme, ansonsten war alles zufriedenstellend. Die Klimaanlage ist der Hammer, und die Familie war sehr nett.

Die Lage ist etwas außerhalb, aber man kann sehr günstig den Bus zu den nahegelegenen Orten nehmen. Dadurch hat man am nahen Strand kaum Touristen.

• Der Gastgeber: Dinesh hat uns unglaublich freundlich empfangen. Man merkt sofort, dass ihm das Wohl seiner Gäste wirklich am Herzen liegt. • Ambiente: Die Lodge ist nicht nur blitzsauber, sondern auch sehr gemütlich und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Man fühlt sich direkt wohl. • Kulinarik: Das sri-lankische Frühstück war fantastisch! Besonders die Coconut Rottis waren die besten, die wir auf unserer gesamten Reise durch Sri Lanka gegessen haben. • Hilfsbereitschaft über das normale Maß hinaus: Ein ganz besonderer Moment war, als wir Dinesh nach einem „Coconut Scraper“ fragten. Er hat uns kurzerhand einen organisiert und wollte nicht einmal Geld dafür annehmen. Wir freuen uns schon riesig darauf, ihn zu Hause zu montieren und die ersten Kokosnüsse zu raspeln – ein tolles Souvenir! • Der Abschied: Selbst bei unserer sehr frühen Abreise um 5:45 Uhr morgens hat uns Dineshs Frau noch frischen Tee zubereitet. Diese Aufmerksamkeit hat uns sehr beeindruckt.

• Es gibt absolut keine Kritikpunkte. Wir hatten eine perfekte Zeit!

Отдыхали в 4-ром с 11 по 18 февраля 2026г. Впечатлил пляж без волн, очень красивое место, до моря совсем близко. На пляже есть кафе. Изумительно красивый пляж, хотя и совсем небольшой. Проживали в доме, снимали две комнаты, у нас был отдельный вход, кухня, где можно приготовить себе чтото из еды, стол за которым мы кушали и вечерами именно там проводили время. Все очень чисто, есть все необходимое, вода горячая - холодная всегда без пеебоев. Хозяева очень радушные, живут в том же доме но с другого отдельного входа. Участок ухожен, все чисто аккуратно. Интернет летает, кондиционер работает. За время нашего пребывания нам поменяли постельное белье и полотенца. Хозяева всегда рады помочь и подсказать.

Рядом нет никаких магазинов. Кафе на пляже на троечку.

The room was cosy and clean with crisp white sheets. Fan and AC worked well. They also have a small garden with chairs and tables. I had a very comfortable and relaxing stay. It’s located on a quiet area but only a few steps away to a beautiful secluded beach (Pera Beach). The owners are really accommodating and friendly and are very flexible with check-in/check out times.

Sehr sauber, nette Gastgeber, leckeres Frühstück & ruhig gelegen. Das Zimmer ist sehr komfortabel und hat genug Ablagefläche. Den Garten kann man mitnutzen. Wild Beach ist 50meter, nach Midigama läuft man 5-10 min. Ein Scooter lohnt sich.

I had a very pleasant stay here. The room was clean and comfortable, which allowed me to really rest and relax during my stay. The owners are very kind and helpful and were always willing to assist whenever needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay.

La stanza è pulitissima, la casa è in una posizione un po' riparata dalla strada quindi molto silenziosa e gli host sono super gentili e disponibili. Il letto è gigante, il bagno spazioso, nella sala comune c'è una cucina piccola se ci si vuole cucinare qualcosa. Attraversando la strada si raggiunge una spiaggia carina, dove ci si può rilassare e passare qualche ora piacevole. Colazione buona, preparata dagli host, non mi sembra ci fosse possibilità di scelta.

La casa è posizionata tra due paesi, quindi per spostarsi e raggiungerli bisogna sempre prendere un mezzo di trasporto (tuk tuk, bus, taxi); è difficile camminare per raggiungere qualsiasi cosa (ristoranti per cena, altre spiagge) perchè come ovunque bisogna camminare in mezzo alla strada.

Super verzorgd en je hebt een leuk tuintje. De hosts zijn super aardig en zorgen ervoor dat je het beste verblijf hebt.

Als je een tijdje in Sri Lanka blijft en je wil af en toe zelf koken ipv uit te eten, heb je een mooie en functionele keuken.

Alles heel goed, je steekt de steenweg over en je bent aan het mooiste strand om te zwemmen. Je hebt een tuin en kan rustig buiten zitten. Alles is hier enorm verzorgd.

A Hidden Gem for a Relaxing Holiday – The White Gate Lodge, Weligama I stayed at The White Gate Lodge in Weligama this September, and I ended up extending my stay because I just didn’t want to leave – that’s how good it was! The location is ideal for anyone looking to relax and unwind. It’s just a quick hop across the road to "Wild Beach", one of the most peaceful and beautiful beaches in the area. Plus, it’s close to Ahangama town, Matara, and not too far from the must-visit city of Galle. Despite being so central, the lodge is tucked away in a quiet spot, perfect for enjoying some true tranquillity. I stayed in Tharu & Dinesh’s stunning family home, and it was a genuinely lovely experience. The house is clean, beautifully maintained, and equipped with everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. My room was spacious, cozy, and had a nice view. What really makes this place special are the hosts and their hospitality. Tharu and Dinesh are warm, friendly, and incredibly attentive – they made sure everything was perfect throughout my stay. I also have to highlight the breakfast – it was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared each morning. The care they put into the food and service really stood out. Whether you're a solo traveller, a couple, or a family, I can’t recommend The White Gate Lodge enough. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, eat well, and be truly looked after. I’m already looking forward to my next stay!

Обьект размещения расположен в тихом уединенном месте недалеко от Велигамы.Буквально в одной минуте ходьбы находится прекрасный пляж Whild beach,где можно купаться даже в несезон ( мы были в июле), т.к., из за расположенных волнорезов вода достаточно спокойна. Сам обьект представляет собой уютный дом в окружении прекрасно ухоженного сада.Однажды утром видели степенно гуляюшего по саду мангуста. Комната, в который мы жили довольно уютная, с достаточно большим окном.Рядом расположена кухня со всем необходимым.Хозяева- добрые, радушные люди, готовые во всем помочь своим гостям. Особенно хочу отметить необычайно вкусные ланкийские завтраки. Нам очень понравилось! Обязательно вернемся сюда снова!

We loved our stay here! Everything was better than our expectations: comfortable bed, shared kitchen, lovely garden and patio, friendly and helpful hosts. Also the position is great because is very close to the beach and the main road, but still very quiet. We will definitely come back here when we will visit Sri Lanka again :)

This was by far our favourite place we stayed on the trip. Not only did we make good friends with Denis & Taro, but the place was always spotless and refreshing to come back to each day. The AC was a real blessing, the breakfasts were delicious, they sorted us out with a scooter, laundry, bottled water etc. and it’s only 1 minute before you’re on a quiet tropical beach. Cannot recommend this homestay enough. Thank you guys so much. X

Really nice family-run property. Dinesh and his wife were very accommodating and welcomed us so warmly! Loved the fact that we could use the kitchen to cook and that a paid laundry option was available.

Just the few power cuts that happened, other than this it was absolutely perfect!

Amazing value for money, everything is new from your room to furniture to kitchen utensils, owner is very respectful and easy to communicate, attentive and trying to get what you need. Located in a strategic area right between busy Ahangama and Midigama, right in front of the beach. I initially booked 2 nights and booked extra three nights, I’m definitely coming back! Simple but really nice room, kitchen available for use which is super convenient. Really nice garden as an outdoor area with chairs. Good location as just across a busy road, there is a really nice and quiet beach, suitable for swimming with a very chill little beach restaurant. Ideally, one needs transportation (tuktuks and buses are available) as this location is in between Midigama and Ahangama.

Absolutely loved this place. The beautiful beach was just across the road. We had a very comfortable stay with all the facilities in the house. And the family owners were very nice. It’s the one of the beautiful guesthouses that I will definitely come back !

Very nice stay! So clean and lovely breakfast! You do need a tuktuk to go to town but its not expensive. :)

Room was small but perfect for us. Toilet was clean, owner was nice. He helped for our moped rental for our whole stay and also made sure we were comfortable all the time. It was nice to be checked on. House was also quite literally a <1 minute walk to the beach. It was also a very quiet beach with a restaurant right in front. Would stay here again when I come back.

Just across the road from the Whitegates Lodge is a beautiful quiet bay. Taru and her husband Dinesh were easy going hosts, helpful and insightful about the area. The Sri Lankan breakfast they provides was delicious and filling. What is great about this place is a newly renovated kitchen, so you can keep food in the fridge and cook. The gardens were well kept and on one morning I enjoyed my breakfast outside, surrounded by beautiful plants, Dinesh pointed out a chick in a nest in one of the trees. There is also an outdoor shower in the garden , so you can rinse off from your swim.

Bed was a bit squeaky

This is a gem in the area and the best accommodation we had in all Sri Lanka! Super clean, delicious varying breakfasts, very comfortable and spacious rooms, and extremely friendly and helpful hosts. We wish we could have stayed longer! The wifi was fast enough to work and do videocalls and it was nice to have access to a little kitchen too.

The host family were very sweet, welcoming and helpful. They made us feel like we were at home. The room is on the small side but very comfortable, with air con, a mini fridge, place for luggage, big table etc. They helped us organise a bike rental and gave us recommendations on nice local places to eat. They made us a different breakfast every day which was very nice! The property is also very peaceful and we encountered different animals in their garden.

No hot water in the shower

The Whitegates Lodge became our second home instantly. What beautiful accommodation and even more beautiful owners! Tara and her husband Denish are very warm people. They have two beautiful daughters and take very good care of the house and garden. Breakfast was cooked by Tara and every day was different and very, very tasty. The rooms are clean and there is a fully equipped kitchen with a large fridge and freezer available for guests. There is also a stove with an oven. Sitting in the garden in front of the room is relaxing. The beach is a 3 minutes walk away and is beautiful and quiet, with minimal people. Tara and Danish gave us a lot of interesting information about Sri Lanka. They also arranged a transfer from the airport for a very good price. Whatever we needed, Danish arranged with a smile. The stay was so special that there were even tears when saying goodbye. Tara and Denish, thank you for everything! We are thinking of you and if we ever visit Sri Lanka again, we will 100% come back to you.

The room was lovely, a good size and very clean. The bathroom was modern and spotless. There was a shared kitchen which had all the basic cooking utensils. Breakfast was delicious and varied day to day, including a hot breakfast and fruits. The lodge is across the road from a very nice swimming bay and is also a short distance from surf spots and trendy cafes. Excellent hosts. Good value for money.

Wow just wow if I could give more stars I would a beautiful family run business who are fantastic. Fantastic location 10 seconds from the beach the room is amazing clean, airy and fresh. A lovely place to stay. Super clean rooms with an incredible fan (I hardly even needed the AC the fan was that good!). Lovely garden to sit in to have the delicious and filling breakfast that they make (changes each day! - banana pancakes, omelette, Sri Lankan string hoppers and curry - always served with fruit). Across the road/down a lane way from a beach you can swim at, walking distance to lazy right and a few mins tuk tuk to popular surf spots (Marshmelows, lazy left and Kabalana). The owners are so kind. I came in very late from my flight and they were up waiting. I organised a taxi transfer with them which was fairly priced and easy to spot upon arrival. The driver was great. The accomodation like many other in the area is by the train tracks but I would only hear this around 6:30am or later. Thanks for a wonderful stay :)

Very clean room in nice surroundings, with garden, outdoor furniture, outdoor shower to use after the beach. Access to kitchen, amazing breakfast and super super nice host helping with everything. A/C and fan working very well :) great place, close to many beaches that you can visit. We had a wonderful stay:)

The shower pressure could be a bit better, but there is hot water always available :) and bed is a bit short if you are a very tall person, but thats generally common in Sri Lanka

The owner was a really kind person. In general, the whole complex is really lovely and well treated. Wonderful garden and the rooms were clean and comfy. The breakfest was also really good. The apartment is located near a beautiful beach with an awesome beach bar which has cool drinks and the best curry we ate in sri lanka so far. In total a really good place to calm down and level up your energy. Definitely recommend the whitegates lodge.
