I liked the quietness of the lodge and the staff were very attentive.

Unfortunately and this was not the resorts fault nor the staffs but the unexpected rain and mist which made trekking difficult and dangerous.

There’s only 3 sentinel rooms with the surround view. The rest only have 1 long window. So in the end it would have been better to pay for the cheaper rooms on the mountain side.

Very nice location, practical for the sentinel pike hike. AC and hot showers. Nicely decorated rooms. Little fridge. Giving a lunch bag if you leave too early for breakfast. That was super practical! Nice staff.

It was a shame the restaurant doesn’t serve South African food. Could have been a tiny bit cleaner.

The location and scenery

The schedule hours for the shuttle. I went on the tugela falls hike and the hikers get down around 10/10:30. However the only return shuttle is from 12:30. This results in late checkout of friends/family are waiting at the lodge. It also makes our return journey home much later. Really spoils the experience. Shuttle times should start earlier for the return journey.

A wonderful place in a truly privileged location, surrounded by spectacular mountains and breathtaking landscapes. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and relaxing, making it a perfect base for exploring the area. The cabins are well equipped, and the heated bed was especially appreciated after the cold mountain days. The restaurant was excellent, with a varied menu, good quality and very good value for money. The views and natural surroundings are definitely one of the highlights of the stay.

The only downsides were that the accommodation felt a little expensive for what it offers, and it was not clearly communicated that a 4x4 is required to reach Sentinel Car Park. The shuttle service also has limited departure times. Overall, a lovely stay in an incredible setting.

This must be one of the best locations in the entire Drakensberg. We were lucky with the abundant snow, but the view will be superb anytime. There are multiple good options for hikes and other activities.

The only hotel so hight up in the Drakensberg. Gives you easy access to climb the chain ladders to get to the top of the Amphitheater. Old style hotel. Warm and cozy.

Fairly pricey but there is no other hotel in the area at all.

I would not say this as a negative but there is so much potential for hiking on this area that spending some time and effort on good materials and guides for tourists to do hikes in the area would be great

Das Personal war sehr freundlich, die Lage in den Bergen und als Ausgangspunkt für die Wanderung zu Tugela Falls war perfekt, das Zimmer war ausreichend groß und mit einem traumhaften Blick auf die Berge; das Essen war super, insbesondere war das Angebot an vegetarischen Gerichte sehr groß und es hat sehr lecker geschmeckt

The views were exceptional! My wife and I wished we could have stayed longer, because we thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was so good, and the rooms were well equipped to handle the cold environment. I will recommend this to anyone, and will definitely come back.

The last morning we ran out of hot water in our room. We don't take excessively long showers, so this was not a nice experience. I would suggest that due to the location and maybe the number of people that take showers at the same time, that a gas geyser would be a good addition going forward.

I love the property. I think it need more activities for kids less than 10 years

Good breakfast buffet with a good choice of fresh fruit, cereals, warm stuff, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, toast. The room is very basic with a little fridge and air con which can be used for heating up the room.

Additionally to the park fee, one has to pay a hiking fee of 145 ZAR/ Person, which is not mentioned in the Booking.com reservation process. So it is not transparent. The road to the start of the hike to the tugela falls is very bad. You can only drive it with a very good 4x4. Otherwise the shuttle is 360 ZAR/ Person. All these costs sum up, so at the end it is more expensive to make the hike than going for a hike in Switzerland.

Its all about the location. Beautiful setting, and incredible access to the magnificent northern berg. The staff and friendly and helpful, and work with you to make your days out in the berg special.

The staff and the food were the best part of our stay. The breakfast had various dishes and was different everyday. The views are magical.

Stayed here specifically for the Tugela Falls and Amphitheatre hike since lodge is a mere 30 mins very bad dirt road drive to reach the Sentinel Carpark. Surprisingly, the road after the barrier gate are remarkably well paved in the form of bricks! You have to pay 90/ pp for Northern Drakensberg Conservation Fee. Best to have the exact cash ready in case they lose connection for card payments or change. Remember to ask for receipts so the money really go towards conservation! We had paid the shuttle fee (320/ pp return) online beforehand. Since our shuttle to the carpark was 6 AM, the staff had our packed breakfast (sandwich, bar, banana, apple, egg, peanuts) ready by 5.45 AM. In order to hike, we paid another 145/ pp for the Northern Drakensberg Hiking Permit. Ask for a receipt for this as well. Room was comfortable but that is the minimum to be expected given the price tag. We didn't buy their dinner; we ordered a pizza at Debonairs in Mandela Park, Phuthaditjhaba, before coming up.

There are quite a number of other fees as i've written above if you plan to hike to Tugela. The lodge has monopolised the area, so there is not much to do about the very bad road to Sentinel Carpark. We saw two SUV parked at the carpark, but the road is really not worth the tension. Anyway, most visitors hike Tugela at most once.

Views were what we went for. Breakfast was Ok. Toasted sandwiches are excellent. Staff were very willing and helpful and attended to any problems or questions immediately. We fleetingly saw two lammergeiers, or bearded vultures. A special treat.

The main dishes in the restaurant require a little more training. they're good, but could be better. For example, too much salt on the lamb chops and well done not medium.

Best place to stay if you are climbing Tugela Falls. Great food and staff, amazing views.

Vynikajúca poloha, krásne horské prostredie Drakensbergu. Výhodný začiatočný bod pre výstup na vrchol vodopádu Tugela. Izby čisté, raňajky boli veľmi dobré, dali sme si aj večeru, tiež bola výborná.

Zle tesnili okná v drahšom apartmáne. V noci bol veľmi silný vietor a prefúkavalo aj do vnútra. Cesta na parkovisko Sentinel je v katastrofálnom stave. Pred 12 rokmi sme tam išli bez problémov v osobnom aute. Teraz je potrebné 4x4 a pteto sme si museli platiť drahý odvoz terénnym autom. Nechápem, že ak stále vyberajú poplatky za vstup, nevedia udržiavať prístupovú cestu.

La chambre glacial.🥶 impossible de prendre une douche. Les fenêtres et portes devraient être calfeutrés et isolées cela serait un plus pour les clients et l’entreprise car il faut chauffer au maximum et très peu de chaleur. Heureusement il y a une couverture électrique. 😅 Mais la vue est magnifique. 🤩 Attention il des chambres sentinelles avec une grande fenêtre au lieu de deux.

The hotel is really quaint and fits in with the mountain feeling. It provides exactly what one needs for both comfort and meals for the wonderful mountain walks.

Incredible views from our room, which was very comfortable and cosy. We had a problem with the geyser not getting hot and the staff were quick to make an alternative plan for us. The restaurant has a nice menu with good food. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating.

The entrance to the resort is a little run down and needs some upgrades, and the main road there runs through the center of the rural town of Phuthaditjhaba which is very busy with to and fro traffic, and livestock on the road side, but well worth it for the experience of being in the mountains.

Расположение - нет лучшего (ближайшего) варианта для посещения водопада Тугела и Сентинел Пик. Закрытая охраняемая территория. Рядом большой город с очень бедным населением. Это могло бы быть проблемой. Однако, попасть на территорию могут только проживающие или дневные туристы. Хорошие, разнообразные, завтраки. Вид из номера. Кондиционер. При возвращении с Сентинел Пик мы попали в проливной дождь, вся одежда и обувь были мокрыми. К утру всё высохло. Хороший напор воды в душе.

Номера после ремонта, однако отель "уставший" и некоторые части требуют реновации. Мало евро розеток. Из 5 доступных - мы могли использовать только одну. Другие были не рабочими. Завтраки начинаются в 7. И не всегда всё доступно в это время. Обычно, полное меню, было только через 15-20 минут. В 7.45 - уходит трансфер на парковку Сентинел Пик. И это время недостаточно для нормального завтрака.

The location makes this property unique. The sunrise view on the mountains is fantastic. But...

Personnel could be nicer. We sometimes had the impression to bother them. I did not like the waitress requesting the tip in cash (while it's written exactly the opposite in the menu - meaning a known bad habit), nor the homeless guy wandering between the restaurant and the bedrooms, nor the employee at the gate asking for more money.

La vu, la localisation et la literie confortable. Ainsi qu’Un personnel gentil, et la wifi de qualité gratuite (bien aimable..)

Par où commencer… La propreté, et on parle pas de quelques léger soucis on parle d’un problème de fond. - poussière partout - tache sur le sol, les rideaux, les draps - présence de poil (ou cheveux) Le rapport qualité prix … 145 EUROS pour une très petite chambre (sale) qui s’ajoute à de nombreux frais annexes obligatoires (conservation fee, hiking fee, et un exorbitant shuttle fee si tu n’as a pas de 4x4) à ce prix, et au vu du peu de standing de la chambre, tout ces frais devraient être inclu. Mais bon, c’est le seul établissement du coin, nul autre choix.

Eine super Lage, wir hatten Bergblick gebucht und enen tollen Ausblick. Das Team ist supernett und hilfsbereit. Es gab ein Top-Frühstücksbuffet und Tee- und Kaffeservive über den ganzen Tag. Und es ist halt der beste Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen.

Personnel en salle ont été super aimable, serviable toujours prévenant. Mon conjoint a même oublié sa casquette à table le premier soir lorsque nous sommes parti nous avons demandé s’il l’avait retrouvé un des serveur a couru nous la chercher. La localisation est super pour les randos. Le repas du soir et le petit déjeuner étaient bons. La literie super confortable.

Nous avons réservé pour deux nuits dans l’hôtel. Nous arrivons la personne de l’accueil n’est pas vraiment aimable! Nous avons la surprise une fois les clés récupérées de rejoindre notre chambre avec vu 180 degré sur le mur.. au vu du prix de la chambre et deux nuit réservé je suis dégoûté ! Sachant que j’ai regardé et il y avait des chambres avec une vue sur un peu de paysage au moins un petit angle qui ont été libre les deux jours! Chambre pas très propres (cheveux par terre), serviettes de douche avec des trous et des taches, moisissures sur les murs un petit coup de rénovation ne ferai pas de mal. Pour rentrer dans la douche il ne faut pas être très large. La porte d’entré du logement très compliqué à ouvrir, poignée fonctionne très mal. (Chambre 6 bâtiment drakensberg)

The sunrise view was excellent. The Dining Room was very nice.

I was not aware that I have to sign up in advance for the transportation to the WaterFall entrance and there wasn't room for me and I didn't have a 4 wheel drive car so I was unable to drive myself to the park entrance. Luckily I was able to share a ride with one of the other guests and was able to get to the Falls.

Subject: Feedback on Our Recent Stay We left very disappointed with our experience. While the property itself is in a nice location, the rooms were outdated and not clean. We found dirty curtains and issues in the shower - I’ve attached a few photos for reference. We also found the restaurant very poor. The vegetables were overcooked, the meat tasted reheated, and overall the food had no flavor. Given the high rates, we were extremely dissatisfied with the quality of both the rooms and the service. We had hoped for much more at this price point. I hope this feedback is helpful and that these issues can be addressed for future guests.

Idéalement placé pour faire plusieurs randonnées dont celle de la Tugela falls et pleins d'activités proposées (quad, cheval, via ferrata,....) La literie est très confortable, douche spacieuse et présence d'un petit frigo. Bon service de chambre. Le personnel est très sympathique. Le buffet petit déjeuner est varié et très bon.

Les rideaux de portes ne sont pas assez occultants et la lumière extérieure reste allumée toute la nuit. La restauration pour le dîner est moyenne par rapport à l'attente du prix payé du séjour (un peu trop gras dans l'ensemble). L'une des randonnées les plus chères avec l'obligation de réserver un transfert payant pour l'accès au parking (route non entretenu, seulement accessible avec un bon 4x4) en plus de payer des taxes et l'entrée sur le site.
