Reviewed Aug 30, 2026Everything. The location is splendid (if you seek Finnish summer lakeside chilax). The facilities and equipment are great - there is a private sauna & private rowing boat in each cottage. Our cottage also had a direct lake access and private pier. You can borrow a paddleboard (EUR 20 / hour, EUR 40 / 3 hours) and single-gear bikes (free of charge). In the kitchen there is everything you need for basic cooking. There is also a private BBQ place at each cottage with all equipment needed. A truly geat place and totally worth the money.

If you are looking for absolute quiet, relaxation, and a break from everyday life, this is the place to be.The view of the lake right from the property is stunning, and having boats available made our stay even more special. There is also a beautiful, well-maintained beach, perfect for relaxing.The host went above and beyond, taking care of every little detail and providing everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. My only regret is that we didn't plan a longer stay! It is a truly magical spot that I recommend from the bottom of my heart to everyone. We will definitely be back for more!

Reviewed Aug 17, 2026Lovely cabin, very comfortable and the lakeside position was perfect with our own private walkway and jetty into the lake.
The property is quite remote (which we did know on booking). This means you have to be quite organised about getting shopping before you arrive.
Didn’t like having to pay extra to hire sheets and towels.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026Die Unterkunft und der Garten sind noch schöner als auf den Bildern. Der Ausblick war fantastisch, der See sehr klar und die absolute Ruhe erstaunlich. Obwohl es mehrere Häuser nebeneinander sind, sind die Gärten so eingewachsen, dass man Privatsphäre hat. In der näheren Umgebung gibt es keine Restaurants, der nächste kleinere Einkaufsmarkt ist 15 min Autofahrt entfernt, so dass man am besten gut ausgestattet anreist. Kaffeefilter, Salz, Pfeffer und Zucker waren vorhanden. Zum Wandern empfehlen wir den wunderschönen Hukkavuori-Wanderweg bei Pohjalankila. Dort gibt es mehrere Rundwege (2,5,8,10 km) Die 5- und 8-km-Routen sind die bekanntesten. Sie führen durch Wald, über Felsen und zu schönen Aussichtspunkten. Der Start ist am Päivölä-Hof in Pohjalankila, etwa 30–40 Minuten nördlich vom Ortszentrum Ruokolahti. Die längeren Strecken gelten als mittelschwer bis anspruchsvoll. Wir sind 5km mit 12 jährigem Kind gewandert. Das war gut machbar inklusive Pfifferlingen, Steinpilzen, Elchköddeln, Dachs-, Fuchs-, Erdbienenbau usw.
In der unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft lässt es sich nicht so gut wandern. Viele Waldwege sind als privat gesperrt.

It was even more beautiful than we had imagined, and we were able to truly relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Everything—the nature, the cities, and every moment we spent there—felt so special.
Finland has become one of our favorite places, and we would love to visit again someday.

Дуже затишно, чисто й комфортно. Прекрасний краєвид, тиша та свіже повітря створюють ідеальну атмосферу для відпочинку. Господарі привітні та уважні до деталей. У будинку є все необхідне для комфортного проживання. Особливо сподобались вечори біля озера та можливість повністю відпочити від міської метушні. Обов’язково повернемося ще раз і щиро рекомендуємо це місце!

Wir fanden auf der Internetseite „ Onni Village“ die Ausflugsziele sehr hilfreich. Alle samt sehr besonders schöne Attraktionen. Durch die Angabe der Koordinaten leicht zu finden.

Reviewed Oct 18, 2025Everything. Toys for our one year old in the bedroom. the water view with large panel windows. The fireplace in the house. The stars at night. The surprise berry picking even though it was end of season. Our dog being able to zoom around the backyard. The grill with handy equipment. The entrance to the patio from the sauna. The playground was amazing for any age, swings and sandpit for the child and zip line and equipment for us. They will tell you to bring so we were well prepared. And they are nearby if we need anything. Any age will enjoy this place and there will be something for everyone.

Reviewed Aug 31, 2025Wow! Onni Village is a little paradise in the middle of a stunning area of Finland. The accommodation is of a very high standard (better even than in the photos), and each lodge (there are 7 on the site) have huge floor to ceiling windows that down the side facing lake Saimaa. The place was spotless and so well equipped, with great touches like a sauna, free fire wood, life jackets, free use of a rowing boat and a great children's playground with trampoline and zipwire. The host was really excellent and nothing was too much trouble. You can also hire motors for the boat, paddleboards and skis. There are bikes free to use (although only a couple of small helmets) on site and once back on the proper road (Onni Village is 3.8Km down a good forest track) you can travel easily for miles. The nearest shop is in Utula (15 mins drive) and is small, but very well stocked. Huuhanranta beach is stunning and an easy cycle away (the beach is sand and the water is very shallow, so is very safe for children). Don't be put off by the distance from Helsinki. It is a VERY easy 4 hour drive along very quiet motorways and other roads from Helsinki airport and once there, you can relax and enjoy the beauty of this unspoilt area.
Leaving! We seriously can not think of anything we didn't like or would change.

Reviewed Aug 12, 2025Schönes, sehr sauberes Bungalow mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Ruderboot direkt vor dem Haus - mit der Möglichkeit einen Motor zu mieten, was super zum Fischen war. Sehr ruhig. Man hat Nachbarn, aber die Bungalows haben genügend Abstand. Und hat es super gefallen!
Nichts. Kritik auf sehr hohem Niveau: Etwas mehr Bäume beim Bungalow als Sichtschutz zu den Nachbarn.

Reviewed Jul 31, 2025Die Lage am Saimaa ist wirklich grandios. Es fehlt an nichts für ein paar wunderschöne Tage am See. Eigener Strand (meistens waren wir in der Hauptsaison sogar die einzigen am Strand) Kinderspielelplatz, Ruderboot (optional mit Motor), Kinderspielzeug, Sauna... Wir waren schon zum zweiten Mal dort und können es nur empfehlen.
Die Betten könnten etwas breiter und weicher sein. Aber das ist wohl Geschmackssache.

Reviewed Aug 10, 2024ONNI Village has exceeded our expectations. Everything was absolutely excellent, the cottage is very well maintained, very clean and has everything for a comfortable stay. This is a rare combination of being far away from a city, enjoying nature and having full comfort. Internet connection, TV, all amenities were great. On a rainy day you can just read and watch movies enjoying the view from your window. What makes this place unique is a sauna inside the house which you can enjoy and then jump in the lake. The host was very nice and easy to communicate and attended all our requests immediately. Great playground with toys for kids, sandy beach, boats, bikes and gorgeous nature. Highly recommend and would like to come there again.

Reviewed Aug 28, 2023Beautiful nature location, rural and remote. Peaceful and quiet. Good kids space with trampoline etc. Good facilities, we had everything we needed for 2 weeks. Sauna, swimming, walks, trips to nearby islands on a boat. Overall we loved it and would stay again, it was a really quality time with no phone, just books and nature and time to think
Bicycles are not usable really, this was a shame as we counted on bicycle trips on surrounding roads. Roads are too hilly and bicycles are very basic and didn't have a speed/gear switch so it is impossible to climb a hill on it (unless you are super fit).
Also the dishwasher in our cottage A was a bit faulty, hot water didn't work in it, and so it didn't wash properly. This is a minor issue but hopefully gets fixed.
Kitchen is a bit too tiny maybe for a long stay. No extras like species or oil or other cooking essentials so we had to buy ourselves. Small hob so difficult to say, fry something and boil pasta at the same time. And you Have to cook every day as there are no restaurants nearby. Again this is a minor detail.
Ps: I don't understand the point of buying separately the towels and bed linen - who on earth is travelling with their own? Might as well just include in the price

Reviewed Aug 6, 2023This is a fabulous place. The cottagen is perfectly equipped with everything needed for a long stay. Perfectly clean, full of sun, with a great view to the lake. Very helpful and responsive staff.
A lot of wild berries, mushrooms, white fish in the water directly from the cottege's pier.

Reviewed Jul 11, 2023The kid rooms, bedroom, livinign space and bath/sauna rooms are very comfortable in terms of planning, decoration, furniture and equipment. All stuffs look as new. The cottage is made of nature materials which is very nice. There is a large wooden terrace in front of the cottage that's why we loved to sit there to watch sunset. The surrounding space of the cottage was planned so that you can feel in harmony with the surrounding forest and lake. The village has a playground that looks very modern (e.g. trampoline, ropeway)
We didn't have enough time to rest there. Our vacation was too short. We have decided to come back there next time)

Reviewed Jun 11, 2023Everything was perfect. Onni village is lakeside utopia in the Finnish forest. Cottage was clean, quiet, spacious, well stocked with necessities, great kitchen, washer/dryer, big sauna. Bonus- rowboats and cruiser bikes to use anytime. Lake Seimaa and surroundings was beautiful and peaceful beyond words. It's a bit far and isolated, but that's the point. (Just have everything you need for you stay). The host (Aleks) was there during our stay but no need to bother him...everything was provided and working perfectly- thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay!

Reviewed Aug 14, 2022It is great place for relaxing, enjoying nature and getting away from busy lifestyle. We have enjoyed the greatest views at the lake and nature. The lake water was cold, however, amazingly clean and refreshing once swimming. Around the house, you could enjoy mushroom or blueberry piking in desirable volumes. We have also utilized the sauna and grilling facility. Just great relaxing atmosphere.
The water drainage in the shower was not well designed. The water was spreading all over the bathroom.
