The Host was amazing and the Villa is Perfect for a Vacation

Wij hebben onze rondreis afgesloten in Langkawi. Doel was relaxen in een mooie omgeving. Dat is volkomen gelukt in The Sanctuary! Wij waren met 5 personen en hadden de 3 persoonsvilla. Dat betekent dat je 1 villa hebt voor 2 personen, en een 2e villa voor 3 (of 4) personen. De villa’s zijn geschakeld, maar je kunt niet binnendoor van villa 1 naar villa 2. De villa voor 3 (4) personen heeft 2 badkamers. De villa’s en het terrein zijn een klein paradijs. Mooie tuin, heerlijk zwembad dat dieper is dan je op het eerste gezicht denkt. De villa’s zijn ruim (vooral de 2 persoonsvilla is groot!). Douche is heerlijk. Alles is superschoon en netjes. Neushoornvogels en aapjes zijn te zien in de bomen. Het is er rustig en ontspannen. Met een grab ben je in 7 minuten bij restaurants of nightmarket. Vergeet niet bij het restaurant Orkid Ria te gaan eten, echt een aanrader. Eigenaar was zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam, reageerde razendsnel op vragen en hielp bij het organiseren van een Mangrove tour. En had ik de ontbijtjes al benoemd?? Heerlijk!

Beautiful, serene, stylishly decorated, and pristinely clean villas, with a tranquil setting, yet close to the bustling beach of pantai cenag. Our host was wonderfully attentive, with so many helpful tips and recommendations. We are a family of 5 with teens and we felt completely spoilt by the fantastic traditional Malay breakfasts which changed every day and the general comfort of the villas with brilliant AC that was a welcome relief after the heat of the day. The complimentary laundry facilities was also a great bonus.

We booked three rooms for our family and could not fault our stay at Sanctuary Resort Langkawi. From the moment we arrived, everything was fantastic. Our room was MASSIVE – incredibly spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The kids had a seperate “Villa” with connecting rooms to each other, and both of their rooms were also huge, giving everyone plenty of space and privacy. The beds were comfortable, everything was beautifully clean, and we genuinely had nothing to complain about. The swimming pool was another highlight – warm, beautifully maintained and absolutely spotless. It was a lovely place to relax and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. But what really made our stay special was our host, Chiew. From the moment we arrived, Chiew was amazing. He was so welcoming and helpful, sharing his local knowledge about where to eat, what to see and who to arrange tours through. His recommendation for our ATV tour was excellent and made organising things so easy. And the breakfast! We enjoyed freshly cooked local Malaysian breakfasts, along with delicious bakery items, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juice and coffee. There was honestly so much food that we couldn't finish it all. Everything was fresh, generous and delicious. We had read some reviews mentioning that the resort is a little far from everything. If you were planning to walk everywhere, then yes, it probably is — but for us this was absolutely not an issue. Grab was easy to arrange, and we also had a hire car, so getting around was simple. The location is quiet, and peaceful, with a field of beautiful wild buffalo directly across the road. We would 100% stay here- this one of our favourite stays in Malaysia. Highly recommended!

Genialny apartament. Wszystko nam się w nim podobało. Bardzo przestronne wnętrza, urządzone ze smakiem, czysto, ładnie. Bardzo dobry basen, tylko do naszego użytku. Bardzo czysty, przyjemnie spędza się w nim czas. Kolejny plus to znakomite śniadania, codziennie inne. Skorzystaliśmy też z możliwości prania ubrań. Do tego wszystkiego bardzo sympatyczny i pomocny gospodarz. Bardzo chętnie wrócimy do Sanctuary Langkawi.

Incredible place! We liked it so much. Great local breakfast. Very nice stuff. Special apartment for us and another apartment for our children. There are no other rooms and guests. Very comfy.

I was a bit disappointed that we had to leave our rooms in time od check out and spent the rest od our stay by the pool although there were no new guests that day.

Beautiful property, very well maintained, good facilities, host was very attentive and breakfast provided was lovely.

When making a booking people should be aware that owners accommodation is within part of the villa. It is a self contained section but does impact on your privacy. This did not prove to be a problem for us as the hosts were lovely but it wasn’t completely clear at the time of booking.

Wonderful property. Excellent facilities. Beautiful pool and Hugh was such a good host with recommendations. He helped us book the mangrove tour which we highly recommend and also told us about the best restaurants. Breakfast was excellent and he let us try Malay style breakfast with continental style also.

Hiew and his team were incredibly accommodating, with nothing too much to ask during our stay. A highlight during our stay was the amazing breakfasts served each morning. A tasty mix of local and Malaysian dishes that we had never tried before. The accommodation was IMMACULATE and extremely comfortable with plenty of room for all of our clothes and belongings. We were also able to do some washing on-site, which was super helpful when travelling with children!

The property was very clean and had all the facilities we needed. The host was super friendly and very helpful - he took the time to talk to us every day, made sure we are happy and also helped to recommend food places and book our mangrove tour and island hopping trips for us. We are also very impressed the host managed to keep monkeys from entering the property.

Our family rented a car and drove around. Sometimes its hard for us to spot the right turn from the main road to drive into the compound. If the road into the property can be wider and clearly marked it will be a bonus!

La villa de tus sueños. Si quieres alojarte en un lugar especial, y que ponga el broche de oro a esta maravillosa isla, debes alojarte en The Sanctuary Langkawi. Empezando por el personal siempre amable, y Hiew su dueño que te aconseja si quieres hacer excursiones. El alojamiento es muy bonito. Grandes habitaciones con camas y almohadas cómodas, nevera, TV, aire acondicionado y ventilador, baño grande. Y luego la piscina es un espectáculo. Siempre limpia y a la temperatura perfecta, y sin mosquitos! Y los desayunos buenísimos. Abundantes, ricos, variados… Si la villa está disponible, no lo dudes y reserva, no te vas a arrepentir! Gracias desde aquí a Hiew y su familia por acogernos y tratarnos tan bien.

This place was outstanding. The property was incredible, spacious and spotless, and set in the middle of nature with monkeys, hornbills and water buffalo to see from the large and clean infinity pool. Hiew, the host, and his team were brilliant, Hiew in particular giving us lots of advice and helping us organise a hire car (well worth it and easy driving) and a mangrove tour (picked up and dropped off at premises). Breakfast was prepared and each day we had a different exceptional Malay breakfast that started us off nicely for the day. All 5 of us agree that this was the best place we have ever stayed.

It would be a wee bit of a walk to town but being in the jungle (did not get bitten once by mosquitoes btw) you would expect that. Grabs were cheap, quick and plentiful. We hired a car for 80 MYR a day and that was worth it. Driving in Langkawi is easy, just watch out for the monkeys.

My team stayed during the LIMA event. Normally, it takes about 20 minutes to get from the airport to the villa, but due to LIMA, it took almost 2 hours. Fortunately, the villa owner was very kind and waited patiently until my team arrived till 7:00pm. Don’t be scared—on the way to the villa, you might feel a bit lost at first. But don’t worry, once you arrive, you’ll feel calm and at peace. Surrounded by nature and the soothing sounds of insects, it truly brings back the nostalgic vibes of a traditional kampung.

Absolutely top notch! Location, the rooms, the facilities, the host, this is something people MUST experience. The maximum of 5 stars is not enough for The Sanctuary.

We rented all three rooms for our family stay and were very well looked after. The breakfasts were amazing, and Hiew gave very helpful advice on how to explore the island. He is a very kind and knowledgeable host. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The property is well located. The pool was very welcome after a busy day's exploring.

The only thing to be aware of is that there is construction site opposite the property (not shown in any of the photos). It was quite noisy on our first day, with cement trucks coming and going and other construction noise. After the first day, it did not bother us much and work finished at about 6pm. But it did mean we did not want to sit out on the balcony and relax during the day.

Absolute paradise! Beautiful property and such a tranquil setting yet only a few mins drive to so many cafes and restaurants. Spotless rooms and super hospitality from our hosts.

The host was friendly and had many great recommendations for how to spend our four days on the island. Each morning he surprised us with a different local breakfast, as well as providing croissants, toast and other pastries. The place itself is a short drive from the Pantai Cenang and it is definitely walkable too (30 min or so). The location is peaceful and green, and we saw lots of monkeys close by. We had the place including the pool to ourselves, and it was spacious for a family of five.

Hiew was a fantastic host, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at his villa. Our room was spacious, with a lovely patio that added to the charm. The swimming pool was a highlight, and we appreciated that it was cleaned daily. Hiew’s attentiveness and willingness to share his local knowledge made our experience even more special. His tips and insights were incredibly helpful for exploring Langkawi. I cannot recommend this place highly enough as a perfect base for anyone visiting Langkawi.

This is an absolute sanctuary! This lovely accommodation is peaceful, safe, and quiet, but just a few minutes' Grab ride out of town. The rooms are stylish, cool, and spacious, and we loved the private pool. Breakfast is amazing. Hiew and his wife are delightful, generous hosts!

Beautiful place, very clean, comfortable good size rooms. Nice terrace with a view of monkeys jumping in the trees. You will love staying here. The host served us a delicious local breakfast every day. Everyone is very polite and hospitable. We will be gladly come back here.

It is such a beautiful location and home. We could not have been made more welcome. The rooms are so spacious and the hosts super friendly. We were made a different local breakfast each morning plus we had fruit yoghurt and pastries. The location is very close to Cenang beach but it is so quiet like being in a quiet village. Taxi to Cenang beach only 7 myr

We got the villa all to ourself which is so great including the private pool. The rooms are all so clean and smells so good. The breakfast are so nice and have a lot of food. The owner, Mr Hiew is very welcoming and recommended all the good place in Langkawi. We follow his advice to go shopping chocolate in TS Shop. Everyday i get mesmerised by the villa because the design is so cantik. The architectural design are designed by Mr Hiew himself, like he said. Plus point, ada cute cat 🐈 very friendly. Overall our family loved it :)

-Thought all the room is connected but my bad for not investigating first the structure of villa. -The journey to the place is a bit scary at night (small road) but after 3 days we got used to it and felt safe.

Expect spacious, clean and well maintained rooms along with a very kind host. Toilets were very big!

This place is truly a sanctuary. We felt comfortable from the moment we arrived. Everything was of a very high standard. The location and facilities were excellent The property is well maintained and very clean. The gardens and pool area were a feature, and we spent many enjoyable hours by them. The host took great care and pride in everything he did. Breakfasts were thoughtfully prepared giving us a wide range of tastes. His local knowledge which he freely shared added immensely to our stay.Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We look forward to a return visit.

Nice homestay style accommodations at the edge of a forest and an open field. It's comfortable and clean. The host was always quick to respond when contacted via text, and although breakfast was simple, but then the host, Mr. Hiew made sure we had a different menu for breakfast every day!

The villa is very clean. We booked a three room villa. But there is seperate rooms for the 2 diff villas. One villa comes with big living room and big king bedroom. Another villa comes with two connecting rooms with queen beds. Overall it's a nice stay and the owner is super duper friendly. My parents love staying there and my kids enjoyed swimming in the pool too.

Was great. Hiew is also an architect, he designed this hotel himself and every detail has been carefully thought through. They prepared different breakfasts every morning. A very friendly, professionally run family business. Security is top notch. Access to the center is very easy. We recommend the Grab app for taxi.

A hidden gem in Langkawi which is on par or even better than a five star resorts. Totally exceeds our expectations. The villa is very spacious and situated in between villages and padi fields. Cleanliness is top notch. Host is very friendly and lives at the property itself. Breakfast is of local delicacies and we enjoy every bit of it. Thank you for the great hospitality and the sweet memories, will definitely come back again.

The road leading to the villa fits only 1 vehicles at a time but with a bit of considerate driving followed by a wave and smile on any oncoming vehicles, it would not be an issue.

Villa is quite spacious and I give 10/10 for cleanliness. Host was very friendly and even recommended few cafe and restaurants. Breakfast was provided every day. We stayed for 4 days 3 nights so host prepared Malay, Chinese and Indian breakfast variety, couldn’t ask for more. It was a pleasant and enjoyable trip. Will definitely book this place again for my next trip to Langkawi.

love all things. The friendliness, apartment, amenities, and breakfast. Cannot barely locate any dust, everything is absolutely clean. Breakfast was modest but excellent. Kampung-style nasi lemak, pastries with butter and jam, milk, drinks, coffee milo, and more. The aspect I enjoy the most is privacy. Apart from the owners' family and us, there were no other people in the apartment. Definitely coming back

What a gem of a place - Warm hosts, 10/10 cleanliness, amazing views of lush greenery and peaceful environment.

Only one minor inconvenience - Need clearer directions to get there. We lost our way initially as Waze and Google Maps couldn’t pin the right location but thanks to Hiew (owner & host), we reached safely. Key landmarks to look out for is The Villa Langkawi and Hornbill Retreat. The village road is a single car’s width but easy to manoeuvre if you’re patient and observant.
