Treetops Cottage at the Castle

Fantastic stay in the cottage. The cottage is so well-equipped and comfortable. The views from the deck are spectacular. The bed is comfortable and the room very big. I got great sleep while I was there as it is so quiet. Yoda is eager to greet you as are Harry and Shirley. The breakfast and snacks provided were a sweet addition and the kitchen is equipped with everything you need. I can't wait to return someday!

A beautiful, comfortable place with everything you'd need and more! We enjoyed the spectacular ocean views including sunrises, sunsets and star gazing at night. Our friendly hosts, Harry and Shirley, were the best! They were very helpful with suggestions of places to go, places to eat and things to do in the area and nearby. Whitianga was our favorite place after 5 weeks of our NZ vacation. From our boat tour with snorkeling to hikes and beach walks, everything was grand. Highly recommend Whitianga and Treetops Cottage for your stay! Will definitely return!

The food gift basket was a nice touch for an Airbnb, especially accommodating dietary preferences. Highlights were the great secluded location to unwind, and recharge, amidst woodland, birdlife and an Ocean view across the valley. The Hosts were friendly and helpful. Food shops only about a 6-minute drive to the CBD.

The views, peacefulness and hospitality were second to none. First visit to Whitianga and it was well worth the long drive! Close to beaches and places to explore or just relax in the treetops!

Een werkelijk fantastisch ingericht appartement met een boven- en benedenverdieping. Alles is erg schoon en netjes en goed onderhouden. Het bed is heerlijk en de badkamer is compleet en heeft een lekkere douche. Bij aankomst stond er wat fruit voor ons klaar en de koelkast was gevuld. De ontvangst was hartelijk. Het uitzicht op Cook Beach was het eerste wat we in de ochtend van de omgeving zagen. Wat een magische plek!

We have stayed at many Booking.com properties over the years and I can honestly say this one has been the best. Beautifully presented with an attention to detail that goes above and beyond what you would expect. Every facet of the property exudes quality. On arrival we were met by the host, Harry, who gave us an introduction to the property and some advice on local places to visit, a local insight that is highly valued. The fridge was stocked with snacks and food to see you through breakfast on your first day even fresh fruit in the bowl, all very welcoming for anyone at the end of a long journey. As hosts Shirley and Harry are some of the nicest people you could meet, warm and welcoming but ensuring you have your privacy. A perfect balance. The property is in a wonder location, quiet and peaceful with stunning views across the bay. Under 5km to the town centre it’s an ideal location for anyone looking to explore, take in the local food scene or just to chill. We enjoyed the property so much we spent time relaxing rather than exploring. In short, if it’s available book it! If it isn’t then change your travel plans to fit and you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be back the next time we are in New Zealand.

We could not have asked for a better place to spend Christmas. Our hosts, Shirley and Harry went out of their way to ensure we where comfortable. The location is fantastic with absolute peace and quiet. Only sorry we hadn't booked a longer stay. Cheers to Shirley and Harry.

There is nothing that we didn't like.

Very spacious, fantastic view, very well equipped with kitchen utensils and ingredients to make self catering easy including sufficient food for a meal and breakfast. The hosts were very helpful and keen that we got the most out of our stay.

It has a great view and has everything that we needed. Harry was very thoughtful and stocked the refrigerator with plenty of food so we didn’t have to go out for dinner after a long day of driving.

Everything was perfect!! Harry and Shirley were keeping an eye on me until I arrived at their Apartment!! They are awesome!! The apartment was absolutely clean and Harry and Shirley left fruits and many things in the fridge to welcome me!! Fantastic!! The bed is really comfortable and the first floor has an amazing views over whitianga and buffalo bay!! The Apartment is surrounded by vegetation and gardens… it’s a great place to relax and listen to Nature!! You have private parking in the same door!! As i said… everything was perfect except i couldn’t stay more time there… but i will be back for sure 100%!! Thanks for everything Harry and Shirley!! See you as soon as possible!!

Stunning location in a lovely town. Lovely one bedroom house with terraces front and rear to catch the sun. The view over the bay is magnificent. The accommodation is very comfortable and has almost everything you need. Wish we had booked for longer.

The kitchen lacks a decent size freezer and a clothes dryer but these are very minor issues.

The view has been extraordinary and the house has been in a totally quiet location. The kitchen equipment has been superb, also the fridge was filled with a lot of goodies. Shirley and Harry helped with good advice.

The property was built in an excellent wooded location with views over the bay. It was large, well equipped with modern equipment and the hosts were very welcoming and obliging, including a ‘welcoming pack’ of fruit, groceries and drinks’ exceptional!! We are from England and hope to return.

We totally recommend this accommodation. A super comfortable bed, tranquil surroundings, and fabulous views. Harry and Shirley were very hospitable hosts, friendly, and helpful with great suggestions for our trip. We had an outstanding stay at Tree Tops Cottage. The cleanliness was impeccable (I’m OCD cleaning) —everything was spotless and beautifully maintained, creating a truly welcoming and relaxing environment. The views from the top balcony were amazing. The whole place was stunning. The owners, Harry and Shirley, were absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived, their warmth and hospitality shone through. They had thoughtfully stocked the fridge with a variety of essentials and wine, which lasted a few days and was such a nice touch. Harry and Shirley went above and beyond to make our stay special, especially as we were celebrating a birthday. They helped me surprise my partner and it’s clear how much they care about their guests and their experience. They also provided fantastic recommendations for local restaurants and activities, which really enhanced our trip. Their suggestions were spot-on. They clearly have a deep knowledge and love for the area, and it shows in the way they make every effort to ensure their guests have the best possible experience. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a perfect getaway. We’re already looking forward to returning!

We love it here! it’s super clean and spacious with good amenities. The cottage has beautiful view and is very quiet. The owner prepared Fruit, Bread, Milk, Bacon even a bottle of wine for us. We feel very welcomed.

This was the PERFECT stay! Harry and Shirley are brilliant hosts, friendly, helpful, informative. We had complimentary wine and beer, fruit bowl, Breakfast for the first day, and spades to dig in the hot water beach! Treetops is so adorable, comfortable, quiet and amazing value. The views from the property are lovely… and don’t miss an invite in for a beer and look out of their main property if it’s given! This is pound for pound our best stop on North Island and we wish we could have stayed longer.

Treetops Cottage is THE perfect place to stay in the area. The cottage is great, the view stunning and it is very well-equipped with anything you may need. The hosts are fantastic, they even left us some food, wine and fresh fruit. Finally, it is in a great location. We hope to come back soon!

We had a fabulous stay in Treetops Cottage. It was perfect in every way, peaceful, comfortable, had everything we needed and the most amazing views. Hosts were great giving us local information and providing us with a hamper of food. Highly recommended.

Beautiful standalone two-storey, one-bed unit on a lovely, secluded hillside property above Whitianga. Perfect base to explore the gorgeous Coromandel coast (including Hot Water Beach, ~45min drive). Excellent amenities, comfy bed, carport next to the unit (watch for the baby swallows nesting above 😍). Harry was a gracious, accommodating, friendly host with endless recommendations. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We enjoyed staying at Treetops as the owners made us feel at home, the property was very comfortable with everything we needed. We loved the location and the fact that the owners Shirley and Harry provided us with food essentials, which was very thoughtful and much appreciated.

Stunning - This place is an absolute gem. Shirley and Harry are amazing hosts very knowledgeable and their welcome hamper goes above and beyond! The location is quiet and surrene and the view is stunning. We highly recommend Kulfi Restaurant and visiting Catherdral Cove and the Hot Water Beach.

The property was excellent. However, Google maps got the entrance to the property confused with access through 18b. DO NOT GO THIS WAY. Go further up the road and around another couple of bends to the correct entrance.

EVERYTHING!

Harry and Shirley are the perfect hosts. This was by far our favorite place to stay on a month long trip to NZ. There was not a thing that did not exceed our expectations. There is covered parking, a blessing on rainy days, the refrigerator was stuffed with basic and gourmet foods including beer and wine as well as a big bowl of fruit. We loved the two good sized sofas for relaxing and TV viewing and the table and chairs for meals. There were sufficient electrical outlets to keep all of our electronics charged. The property is surrounded by native bush, so bird life was plentiful. I truly cannot fault a thing. Thanks to both of you!
