best best best hostel i ever stayed! we keep coming and it feels like home!

The best thing about staying here was leaving, and thank god it was super cheap. I literally never write bad reviews but this place is gross and feels more like a dirty student house share.

I stayed in the 4 bed female dorm, it was filthy. It doesn’t seem like the bathroom or bedroom has been cleaned for weeks. When we arrived the other guest had her stuff all over the bedroom floor and basically it just looks like people have been living there for months. The staff don’t come to clean or even tidy away litter/ashtrays/tidy the bed when a guest leaves from the rooms or common areas. The bed is so uncomfortable and will literally need a message after sleeping in it. The staff also haven’t got a clue what’s going on, we asked to buy beer and waters and they all looked at each other and didn’t know where it was kept. There is construction happening right next to the building and all of the guest stay up late making so much noise. They were literally sitting around playing guitar and singing at the top of their lungs for like 3 hours. This place looks nothing like the pictures and is definitely not where you should stay if you’re looking for a relaxing and chill place. The pool also looks way too dirty to swim in.

The location was okay, and the reception staff did offer to help by suggesting a room change after I reported a mold issue in the room. I appreciated their willingness to listen. I’m also very grateful to Booking.com for handling the matter with empathy and offering a partial refund, which though I have not now heard of after three weeks. Anyway, a nice gesture as an idea. Most importantly, Booking.com's humane response maintained trust in the platform itself.

When I checked in, I discovered visible black/dark green mold on the room walls and even inside the private lockers. In a room with air conditioning constantly circulating air, this poses a serious health risk. I shared my concerns both in person and through the Booking.com messaging. The staff acknowledged the issue and offered to change my room, but when I explained that I have an autoimmune condition that makes me particularly sensitive to mold, their final response was simply to deny a refund, citing their policy. The staff wanted to help (+1) but their manager denied any possibility of a refund outright, dismissing the mold concern entirely and citing policy. This is just bad ethics, business for money without caring about the customers or as we saw, their well-being and health. There was no real sense of urgency, just a flat refusal to take responsibility. Mold is not a cosmetic issue, it’s a health hazard for anyone, and should not be taken lightly. I chose to leave after one night to protect my health. To be fair, I don’t know whether all rooms at this property are in similar condition. I hope I was just unlucky. I feel it is my duty to leave this honest review because it is about protecting any future guest and their health and prevent you from being exposed to a serious health risk. If the room conditions improve and the issue is truly resolved, I hope future guests will have a very different experience.

The staff was very friendly. The accomodation was very bad, old and depleted. Seeing the reviews I was very surprised by this. The beds were uncomfortable. I left after 1 night.

The way until arrive the hostel don’t have lightning and is so dark

The staff were absolutely incredible—so warm and welcoming, it truly felt like a second home. My room was cleaned every morning, and I loved that each room had air conditioning for extra comfort. The pool was always spotless and perfectly refreshing. There were fun activities every day, like pub crawls, which made it easy to meet new people. The location is super convenient, and the team is always ready to assist with tours or booking activities. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe with the women’s dormitory located upstairs, separate from the men’s. There’s also a fantastic upstairs space perfect for yoga or exercise. I ended up extending my stay twice because I felt so at ease! Highly recommend checking it out—an unforgettable experience. :)

There wasn’t a microwave during my stay, but I hear they have one now—so I might just come back in a few days!

I had an amazing stay at The Hostel Canggu! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly welcome. Everyone was super friendly, helpful, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure I had the best experience. A special shoutout to Fajri, who was absolutely fantastic! He not only helped with anything I needed but also organized some great activities that made my trip even more exciting. The atmosphere at the hostel was perfect—social yet relaxed, making it easy to meet fellow travelers. The facilities were clean, the location was ideal, and the overall vibe was just what I was looking for. If you’re coming to Canggu and want a place with great people, a welcoming environment, and fun activities, I highly recommend staying here. I’ll definitely be back!

The location in the middle of Canggu. Not far from shops, market, restaurant and also berawa beach. The staffs so friendly and helpful makes me feel like home. We went to party together at night and playing games in the common space. Also they have a quite common space for work. So nice staying here.

The staff were amazing! They were super friendly and couldn't have done anything more to help. The rooms were quiet and I got a good night's sleep. The whole place had a nice relaxed vibe. I picked this hostel as I was on my own for a few days and I was training bjj. I wanted somewhere social in the evening after my training and this place was perfect for that. Brilliant lovely fun staff.

The pictures make it look new and shiny while the reality the place is old, not clean, mold everywhere, and smells bad... I mean what do you expect for 5 bucks a night, my bad for even thinking of booking.

The atmosphere was super welcoming, and the events made it so easy to meet people. The staff were so friendly and accommodating especially Ariny the whole place felt really safe and secure.

This hostel has a unique vibe and makes you feel like home. I ended up staying for 2 months. The price is really good, and I like it that is not really big so it is really easy to meet and interact with other travellers and become close, even with the staff

Great atmosphere, dorm rooms were clean and spacious. The staff and the people I met were wonderful! You can easily make friends here since everyone is so warm and welcoming ☺️ Location is central to most restaurants and cafes and the beach is only a scooter ride away. I would definitely come back!

Instead of three days, I stayed in the hostel for three weeks. I made friends here, met a lot of wonderful people and this hostel definitely feels like home. The staff are great - a big thank you goes to Fjri, Arini and Ronald! They always look after you and make sure that you feel comfortable. Plus, it doesn‘t get boring because there are cool events, especially on the weekends. Highly recommended, I‘ll come back!

in this place you can find a family from indonesia, the manager fajri is very kind to everyone, and the receptionist lady Arini is very gentle to everyone, and also a bar tender Ronald who can be friends with everyone without discrimination, i think this place is like heaven. i highly recommend to come here

This hostel was amazing!! Very well located and so affordable for what they offer. The staff is so kind, it felt like we were a big happy family. The rooms and bathrooms were cleaned everyday and they provide towels. A big thank you to Arini, Ronald and Fajri for the amazing service and hospitality. I was only going to stay for one night and ended up spending 6 days here, and even came back later on. It seems like all the guests extend their stay at the Hostel Canggu because we feel at home in this place, so why go anywhere else?
