The Hostel Stories, Bir - Landing Site

Location was quite good with good view in balcony and you got some pretty good seating space to work looking at mountains and streams.

Rooms and toilets are too small for a 6 sharing dorm. Bed sheets were not clean and they just changed them infront of me and I see lot of dust sitting on them.

You would feel you have entered Home away from Home. If your mind is chaotic then there is this river stream by the hostel. It's noise is gonna calm your mind and you won't even realise it. Landing site is just walking distance. Host is welcoming. You can go for hike by the river stream and soak yourself in nature's goodness.

It is a very basic hostel. Reasonably neat and clean. It is near to landing area, may be a 5 minutes walk from landing area.

Very small property in terms of space. They have to improve the common area and hostel vibe.

The overall property was nice and staff were really friendly. The best place was the location of the hostel which is located near the river stream which feels very comfortable even when you sit alone in the early morning. also the most of the Popular cafés are located nearby so there won't be any issue in cafe hopping. overall i would recommend staying here.

The only thing which I would like to get it fixed is please add one separate fans in each beds rather than using single ceiling fans as sometimes it in summer it gets really hot.

I had a great experience here at The Hostel Stories. The hostel was at a very peaceful location and yet very close to the landing site and cafes. Raman bhai here is a very welcoming and gracious host.

The most pathetic hostel I have ever seen, no rules chaotic Dirtiest kitchen I have ever seen 🤮 Dogs sleeping in your doms, no one taking responsibility of it.

Had a wonderful stay here in Bir! The location is perfect—very close to the landing site and within walking distance of most cafes and restaurants. Despite being so conveniently located, the property offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, making it a great place to relax. The hostel vibe was amazing, with a friendly and welcoming environment. The property is situated near a beautiful water stream, adding to the overall charm. One of the highlights was the stunning views—you can see the paragliding takeoff site, watch colorful gliders in the sky, and enjoy breathtaking sunsets right from the property

Loved the hostel, very good location. Close to landing site and great cafés. 1st floor could be little bit more clean, ground floor dorm were pretty clean and neat! Very good staff as well!

Bed was comfy. Location was walkable distance to landing site.

Toilet didn't have a faucet, flush didn't work and shower head and knob were poorly fitted and not working properly. U will have to take bath with the bucket and dirty mold ridden mug. No mirror in a room of 8 people to yet dressed. No ventilation in the room. I'm a female solo traveller and all the other men in the room peed right on the toilet seat. Toilet cleanliness was horrible. Though location is walkable distance, in the evening there's no street lights and it will get pitch dark as u walk to the hostel which is on the extreme end. Safety can feel threatening as a solo female though people at Bir mostly mind their own business. For the price they charge a night (650rs),the amenities are extremely poor. I came because of the reviews, totally misleading and disappointing experience. Instead of building a new floor, they need to get the basic amenities corrected first. Social atmosphere isn't very welcoming as opposed to what is described in the past. Would recommend some other places instead of this.

The place was very welcoming and safe and the location too. It felt more like a home where you aren't just paying for the bed - entire property is there for you to chill and move around easily wherever you want. It's very close to landing site making the movement very easy. The view from balcony is really great and also the farm side trail behind the hostel is really good for walking and experience the slow and calm life.

I am in love with my experience so much that I wanna go back to Bir again. Raman bhai made sure that I felt like a family and not just like a traveller. He guided me all the time, gave me the best bed at my dorm and literally got Tofu for me when I couldn't find it anywhere. He is a pure gem. I loved the hostel vibe and everyone was so sweet. Didi made amazing breakfast for us and made sure everyone ate. I never felt like an outsider there, everyone was so heartwarming. Everything and anything I would say is less than what I actually experienced. I went there for 4 days but stayed for 8. And Raman bhai also let me paint the wall ... I loved it 😻 I'm so very glad that I went to this beautiful property beside the water stream which made me feel like home. And I'm very thankful to bhaiya for taking care of me like a sister. ❤️

What I absolutely loved about this property was its streamside location, offering the constant, calming sound of the water – truly a serene backdrop for any stay. It's clear this place is a home for solo travelers, a sentiment echoed by everyone I met, as we all ended up extending our stays. The heart of this place, however, is its people. Raman, the owner, genuinely cultivates an environment that draws in solo travelers who are looking for longer stays, and it really makes a difference. Beyond the great company, the hostel provides good, affordable food options and convenient laundry facilities. Its location is another major plus. Being away from the hectic main area of Bir and on the other side of the landing site means you get all the peace without the crowds. Plus, it puts you closer to popular spots like Silver Lining, Avvas, Thoplu, Mussafir, and the landing site itself, making exploration a breeze without dealing with the usual bustle of Bir.

Honestly, there was nothing I didn't like about the property. It's the kind of place you'll find yourself drawn back to again and again.

From the moment i reached the hostel i loved it, First time i had taken the risk of staying in a hostel other than big Brands Zo..Tel. It's a very hostel with an amazing location,Good food,Good dorms and a superb terrace.Best part of this hostel is the terrace where you can sit for hours and enjoy the view and sound of a small river.Owner is humble.

What did you like about the property? Everything—from the homely vibe to the beautiful souls who run it. Vikram Bhaiya made my birthday unforgettable with a surprise celebration, and Cook Didi’s food and warmth felt like pure home love. The common area was full of games and positive energy, where I met amazing fellow solo travelers and created lifelong memories.

Honestly, nothing major—just that leaving it was the hardest part.

Amazing place to stay at. Bir and overall places near to this hostel gives you vibes of quaint village. Amazing team members who run this property. Do try dinner made by Vishnu, it's homely and delicious.

Vivek and Vishnu were such awesome staff and thoughtfully created a friendly and warm environment for all the guests. Beds and bathrooms were clean and I really appreciated having curtains on the bottom bunks. There is common space to hang out both inside and outside, with beautiful and peaceful views around. ~3 min walk to the nearest cafes and restaurants.

Such a homely place I would stay. Vibe here is different from other places. People just sit here and talk like friends, play games, sing. Hospitality is great. The host vishal was very welcoming and helpful. He helped with cab, scooter, recommendations to near by attractions, how to reach, or any questions you ask. There’s a stream very close to the hostel, behind there’s a field, many cafes nearby. Location is great still away from all noises. Will get a good sunset view and good starry night view. Must visit hostel if you’re in Bir.

The Hostel Stories was a very nice experience! The hostel is in a fantastic location just a few minutes walk from the landing site for exploring the Bir, It is well priced for value and they have a beautiful balcony overlooking the mountains which was amazing. The best part though is the hospitality shown by the staff and owner, Raman was a very kind and helped me out with anything I needed, local recommendations for places to eat and things to try, for any travelers new to Himachal I highly recommend this place as Host will share so much information to make your stay wonderfull, would stay here again when returning too Bir, thank you guys.

It was at a prime location and most cafes and spots were walking distance.

Nestled among the lofty Himalayan ranges the hostel is situated right next to a stream and offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and paragliders gliding through open skies. I was lucky to meet some really good people here who had come from different parts of the country. There were a few foreign visitors too. The rooms have adequate space. Overall my stay here was amazing and I look forward to come back here soon.

The host who is more like dost, The river stream flowing by the side of the abode, The rising sun from the window of the dorm, The music and singing in the evenings. In the sky, the scenaries of paragliding birds in the queque flying next to each other and meeting new faces, artists everyday who turn into friends for life.

Had their double room for 10 days.. adequately comfortable and nice space with basic ensuite.. staff are great , help with anything needed, really awesome.. kitchen etc available downstairs.. much quieter than downtown, good hostel vibe if wanted… enjoyed stay.. thx

This place is just amazing in every way! Nestled right by a river stream, the hostel offers a beautiful rooftop space with fantastic views. The location is ideal – only a short 300-meter walk from the landing point, with plenty of great cafes nearby, all within walking distance. I absolutely loved the food here! It was wholesome, delicious, and had that perfect touch of home, served with just the right amount of love. The vibe here is vibrant and welcoming, perfect for solo travelers and long-stay guests who want to relax and connect with others. As a solo female traveler, I felt super safe and welcomed here. A special shoutout to our incredible host, Raman, who always looked out for me and ensured I felt secure, even when I ventured out on my own. The rest of the staff is just as wonderful, keeping everyone well-fed and making sure we feel at home in this space they've created with so much love.

It was a wonderful homely feeling while staying with the hostel stories. First of all, the property is located just next to the river stream & you can't feel bored even if you are alone sitting on the balcony. Host & owner Raman is a wonderful man who is always there to help on all queries & suggested me to some offbeat places. I really likes the way he maintains the crowd staying in the hostel, which turns this hostel into a unique stay experience. I recommend this hostel to all Solo Travelers specially.

You can’t find any better property than this in bir because this is the only hostel near a water stream and even the host, Raman bhaaai is very friendly & the best host we ever met. The crowd which comes here is also really good. The food here is delicious and home cooked with a community kitchen.

Nice, peaceful property away from all the hussle

The property was perfect. It was close enough to the prettiest cafes and landing site so that you can walk, but also distant enough to have the peace some people might be looking for. The stream beside the property adds such a serene value. As a solo traveller who's looking for the calm and quiet but also loves to be around all kinds of people if mood be, this place was just heaven for me. The staff was awesome and so helpful. Raman is the greatest host one can ever ask for. He's the most warm and welcoming person I've ever met honestly. Makes you feel right at home. I would definitely come back soon.

Few things I loved: 1. River flowing by the side, serene vibe 2. Great board game collection 3. The host - Mr. Raman is an experienced traveller and understands their needs. After your check-in, a list of well-researched resources greet you in WhatsApp which help you plan your stay. 4. Place somehow manages to attract great crowd, I had a lot of fun staying there. 5. You can use the kitchen to cook stuff (very useful for people staying for long periods). Be a good guest and don't forget to clean up after :) I would love to come back and stay for longer durations.

Everything about The Hostel Stories is beautiful. It's like a Home for all wanderers. Perfect location perfect view and perfect people. River stream on the side makes a peaceful noise and takes all your worries. Raman who introduces himself as host becomes your friend as soon as you enter the property.
