Sopanam Heritage Thekkady

Located in a calm and peaceful area with well maintained gardens.. Lawrence anna was so supportive right from the time of booking and guided us throughout our journey. He has many contacts in the locality and taken care of all our ticket bookings , food and local commute planning. Hospitality in the stay from him and Rajesh Chetta was simply amazing and worth every penny. Special kudos to Ranjini chechi (Mrs.Rajesh) for all the delicious breakfast every day in our stay. Since we had a healthy home food we were able to start and plan our day perfectly. We felt like just staying in our relative home, that’s the level of reception and hospitality we got there. Many thanks to all three of them for the care and making our trip a most memorable experience. Highly recommended homestay.

The owner and family are the hosts that make all the difference. They would go to any lengths to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We even had a medical incident and Rajesh was so kind to take us to the hospital and back at midnight.

Had a pleasent stay with reasonable price .. we felt like as we stay in our home... The staff gave us a good hospitality... The care and love given by them was top notch...I highly recommend this for our family and friends too...

The property is away from the town centre in a residential locality. It is possible to continuously hear chirps from various insects, birds and other creatures in the allocated room. The rooms are completely done up in wood giving it a unique and antique feel. The caretakers were prompt in providing any help that was needed.

The linen provided was a bit worn out. It’s due for a change soon.

Vrijwel alles. Lawrence, Radjesh en Renjini zijn lieverds die ons (Tequila en Bob) negen dagen verwend hebben. Er werd voortdurend koffie en thee aangesleept (service), en als Lawrence bezorgd was over onze lunch kwam hij cake brengen (service). Het guesthouse ligt aan het einde van een steile afrit. Wij mochten dat niet lopen. Als we ergens heen wilden, werden we door Radjesh gebracht en gehaald met de auto (service). We kregen ook veel hulp bij het regelen van toegangskaarten ed. Omdat we zo lang bleven werden we een onderdeel van de familie.

Нелегко найти. Рядом нет ни магазинов, ни достопримечательностей. До всего можно доехать только на машине. Маленький темный номер без кондиционера. Окно и балкон во двор. Только одна тумбочка. Нет места для хранения вещей, только на полу. В доме стройка, поэтому территория довольно грязная. При заселении пришлось заполнять огромное количество ответов на вопросы. Потратила на это не меньше 20 минут. Маленькая раковина, отсутствовала простыня, которую ночью пришлось просить у персонала. Соотношение цена-качество неудовлетворительное.

Owner and staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. Special thanks to Lawrence Uncle — I didn’t have to search or plan anything on my own. For all my local visits, he personally arranged a jeep or auto as needed, making the trip completely hassle-free. Truly felt like home away from home. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area! 💚

The place is very beautiful, calm, and peaceful — the perfect escape from the chaos of daily life. Every day, we were treated to delicious homemade Keralan breakfasts, along with tea and coffee served right to our room — such a thoughtful touch! A special mention goes to Lawrence, who is a truly amazing person. He took such good care of us and made us feel completely at home. Rajesh and Renjini were also incredibly kind and warm, and it meant so much to us that they prepared breakfast for us as early as 7 am. without hesitation. Mr.Lawrance was exceptional is assisting for places of visit. His guidance and followup was very good.

The room was very good with a wooden finish making it a more traditional Kerala style house. Mainly, Mr.Lawrence was very helpful, he is more than a host. He provides all the suggestions about places to go and things to do. I highly recommend this place!

Need to have staff to help with the baggage.No one was available at the time of check out. Location was not good and not value for money.

Wonderful house, Lawrence was super helpful (even helping us get discounted tickets); Rajesh was so kind and drove us to some places we wanted to see and dropped us off at the bus. The whole family is just lovely and it shows they care a lot!

The personal touch by Mr Lawrence and entire family. They guided us well even where to shop, arranging Kallaripattu and Kathkalli tickets etc. They are maintaining a beautiful garden outside the house. Though a bit away from the centre of town but we felt like 🏠.

The family hosting us where incredible! True example of hospitality. Lorenz is amazing, he went above and beyond to make sure our stay is pleasant and even made sure we were dropped with the hosts own car, any place we wished to go. They made us breakfast anytime we asked, picked us up when we arrived and they didn't charge anything for all this transports

The only problem is that our room had too much dampness, that even the mattresses felt wet when we went to bed, and our clothes had absorbed a lot of it by the time we left. Both of the days we stayed there were rainy and very foggy so humidity was everywhere, but still the dampness indoors was something else and created a bit of a problem to my health after the second day there.

Loved our 2 day stay at Sopanam. Lawrence and Rajesh who manage the property were so helpful, be it arranging for cultural show tickets or guiding us where to go for sightseeing or where to eat. Breakfast prepared by Rajesh's wife was super delicious. We travelled with family and It was my brothers bday on 15th, Rajesh was kind enough to get a cake for him in the night of 14th from a nearby bakery so we could celebrate it at 12 am.

I wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful stay at Sophnam Heritage. It truly felt like a home away from home, thanks to the exceptional hospitality of Lawrence and Rajesh.When I arrived at the destination five hours before the scheduled check-in time, Lawrence went out of his way to make my day productive. He proactively called me and arranged for an early check-in, allowing me to make the most of my day by exploring nearby spots such as Elephant Camping, Kalari, and Off-road safaris. Both Lawrence and Rajesh were incredibly helpful in guiding me throughout my stay. Their warm and friendly assistance made my experience all the more memorable.Thank you for creating such a welcoming and delightful atmosphere. I look forward to visiting again!

The road, which is slightly steep.

Gives you a homely feel, both property and people. You just book the place with zero itinerary plans, Rajesh and Lawrance can guide you and help booking most of the attractions.

Lawrance and Rajesh along with his family is a wonderful Host. They are not behind money, they make sure you get good service. You wont be disappointed.

Lawrence the owner is an absolute highlight, he went out his way to arrange pick up from Kochi airport with great driver. Once we arrived he settled us in straight away and even drove us to the village as the property is slightly out the way to pick up some rain coats and food. Outside of that the home itself is so cosy and and relaxing. You hear nothing but the sound of nature.

Absolutely the best Homestay and home in Thekaddy. The Homestay owner - Lawrence is extremely helpful and one of the most genuine people I have ever met . He would go out of his way to make your trip n stay wonderful. The best host with Rajesh and his wife too. She makes excellent breakfast and black tea / coffee too. If any help is needed related to sightseeing or any outdoor activities, Lawrence will set it up and make it absolutely perfect. Beat for family, kids and even solo ppl who want to enjoy a quiet time without any rush or worry. The greenery around is captivating and best part is that it feels like home . I will be coming back in December to do major treks again. Thanks a lot to Lawrence , Rajesh and his wife . Do opt for off roading which will be 4-5 hours in jeep and it is definitely worth it.

There is absolutely nothing . The rooms are spacious and comfortable with wooden floors and panelling on the Walls . Cosy clean and spacious.

During a 4-week trip to India, Sopanam Heritage was my favorite place that we stayed. The hosts were extremely kind and attentive, great communicators, and helpful in so many ways. They were available to assist with transport, arrange activities, and help with logistical support for traveling. The food was delicious, and the family so kind. The perfect combination of family warmth and attentive customer service and hospitality. Highly recommended, I would love to return there one day. Thank you!!!

The property situated in a serene place. Every time You will hear some bird noises.

We had a really great stay at Sopanam Heritage. Lawrence, Rajesh and their family took care of us like we were family or friends. They helped us for everything (book tickets for Periyar park, Kalari show, spice garden,...). We really enjoyed our time in Kumily.

The owners were fabulous, very welcoming and extremely helpful. We were taken wherever we pleased at no extra cost and had coffee on request also at no extra cost. The breakfast was delicious 😋 We got laundry done for a small fee. Lawrence was also very helpful and informative. He booked tickets for our boat trip, nature walk and evening shows. Bird watching around the property was amazing and we also saw black monkeys nearby.

I can’t say enough about this stay and the service. The manager, Lawrence, is an outstanding host and goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and taken care of. After we were all checked in and settled, Lawrence gave us a detailed WhatsApp message info about all the activities around the area. He also made sure we were driven to and picked up from where ever we needed to go for ZERO COST. The owner was actually the one driving us and him and his family were extremely kind. They fed us a good South Indian breakfast. This was also the quietest night of sleep we’ve had in India!

The Owner Rajesh and his hardworking wife and Lawrence, they tried to make up for the shortcomings.

The room was wood paneled that made the already dim lights dimmer. A few plug points were not working and so were the light points. No storage or place for luggage. The toilet was not clean and the wash basin could not be smaller?? No bedside lights and place to keep anything. Breakfast was just a basic or below basic. The location was in a secluded place but far from the happenings. The road to the property is really steep and if there's another vehicle coming up or down then you have to depend on your driving skills.

Location and hospitality was very satisfied. Mr. Lawarnce took excess care in food accommodation and guidance to reach the tourists spot on time.

I liked the nature of owner & the way they intracted with us. They were ready to support every stage.

Location is great, food was right next door. Beach is right in front of us and we loved to watch the sunset.

There were mosquitoes, cockroaches and spiders in the room. A bug spray/catcher in the room would have been great. There restaurants close by and it looks like guests dropped food items in the beach. Plenty of crows and dogs woke us up too early. Could have been more peaceful if the trash was not exposed .

Everything was nice at this property. Everyone is friendly and ready to help. The room was nice and big enough for two. Nice clean bathroom and hot water for shower. Property manager was excellent and had local knowledge and helped with various activities.

We had many lizards in our room so we got a new room. The new room was also not clean. There were wild mushrooms/fungus growing between the bathroom gate and near it inside our room. The sheets were not cleans. I’d prefer a clean room with no facilities than a dirty room with basic facilities.
