Dieses bescheidene Homestay liegt zentral in der blauen Stadt, sodass alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten zu Fuß erreichbar sind. Die Gastgeberfamilie ist sehr freundlich und hat uns herzlich empfangen. Es wurden viele Tips gegeben und ein Taxi nach Udaipur organisiert. Außerdem war das Frühstück sehr reichhaltig und lecker und wir durften immer Nachschlag holen, wenn wir noch Hunger hatten. Außerdem wurden wir immer mit Wasser versorgt. Unser Zimmer war groß und komfortabel, sauber und ruhig. Die Dachterrasse bietet einen tollen Ausblick auf das Fort. Die Familie begrüßte uns immer herzlich, wenn wir zur Tür traten. Wir waren rund um zufrieden und können die Unterkunft daher jederzeit weiterempfehlen.

Die Preise waren für indische Verhältnisse etwas teuer. Auch das organisierte Taxi nach Udaipur war anders als vereinbart 700 Rupien teuerer. Da hätten wir uns mehr ehrliche Kommunikation gewünscht.

Tout est fait dans cet établissement pour assurer le meilleur accueil et mettre à l'aise. Le propriétaire, affable et disponible, sait rester discret. Staying at Suraj Haveli was one of the highlights of our time in Rajasthan and gave us an experience that no large hotel could ever replicate. From the moment we arrived, AJ and his family made us feel genuinely welcome. We were greeted by AJ and his daughter, who gave us a traditional bindi and necklace, a lovely introduction to the warmth and hospitality that defined our stay. We were introduced to the family, all of whom were incredibly kind, friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. The room itself was equipped to the standard you would expect from a good hotel, but what made Suraj Haveli special was everything beyond the room. The food was exceptional. AJ's mother prepared an incredible thali for dinner that was among the best meals we ate during our trip. We also enjoyed two wonderful Indian breakfasts and, when we had an early train to catch on our final morning, the family thoughtfully prepared a takeaway breakfast for the journey. AJ was an outstanding host and helped us get far more out of Jodhpur than we would have managed on our own. He mapped out a walking route covering many of the city's highlights, including Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada and the blue lanes of the old city. Having a well-planned route allowed us to explore confidently while still feeling like we were discovering the city for ourselves. He also recommended Veejay's, a local restaurant that turned out to be one of the most memorable meals of our trip. It was authentic, full of local character and unlike anything we had experienced before. For places further afield, AJ arranged a tuk tuk tour with Jai, who was a wonderful guide. Rather than just taking us to the standard tourist stops, he showed us fascinating parts of local life, including the cow hospital, stone quarries and areas where brightly coloured saris were drying. These were exactly the sorts of experiences we would never have found independently.

Haveli situata a pochi passi dal centro ma lontano dalle vie più rumorose. La camera è pulita con aria condizionata. Il personale super gentile e disponibile, davvero un ottimo soggiorno!

La famiglia che gestisce l'homestay è stata disponibilissima, sia per raccontarci come sia vivere a Jodhpur, sia per la cucina vegetariana casalinga.

La gentilezza dei proprietari che si sono svegliati alle 4.30 per farci partire. Purtroppo chiudono tutto e senza di loro non puoi partire.

Il posto è fatiscente, l'aria condizionata funziona male, è rumorosa e non puoi controllarla. Il sifone della doccia è così incrostato che scende poca acqua. Abbiamo fatto notare che c'era un escremento di gatto davanti alla camera e lì è rimasto fino alla nostra partenza. Siamo stati solo una notte.

I recently completed a wonderful stay at Suraj Haveli Home Stay & Rooftop, and I couldn't be more satisfied. The hospitality was exceptional; it feels like a truly family-run environment, where every member of the family is attentive to ensuring you feel at home and taking care of your every need. They were also incredibly kind in giving me excellent tips on places to visit in the area, which really enriched my experience. The room was clean and comfortable, providing a perfect atmosphere to relax. ​The highlight, without a doubt, is the rooftop terrace: it offers a simply stunning view of Jodhpur Fort, providing an unforgettable sight. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for an authentic and charming place to stay. I will definitely be back!

Desde la habitación bonitas vistas del fuerte. Nos hicieron un up grade. Habitación muy coqueta con un hermoso balcón. Excelente trato de toda la familia, nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Riquísimo desayuno vegano. Muy entrañable.

Nada me gusto, la zona es súper sucia , deben aclarar que es un turismo vivencial dentro de una casa de una familia. Hicimos una reserva por 2 días y ni bien llegamos nos pareció tan feo que le pedimos cancelar una noche , ya que no nos queríamos quedar ahí y él nos canceló la reserva por booking para que pareciera que no habíamos ido y nos cobró directamente en efectivo 1 noche y 50% de la segunda noche . Habíamos tomado la suite y le pedimos que nos cobre la penalidad en una habitación más barata y no quiso.

Cet haveli est incroyable, situé dans le centre, proche de tout avec en prime un rooftop possédant une magnifique vue sur le fort et les maisons bleues. Les chambres sont grandes, propre et bien décorés, nous avons eu la chance d’avoir un petit balcon très agréable. L’hôte et sa famille sont très gentils, accueillants et disponible, il nous a organisé un tour des centres d’intérêts du centre avec un guide sans frais supplémentaires. Le petit déjeuner est top, ils nous donnent le choix entre soit un petit déjeuner continental ou indien.

This is a family-run place, and that really shows in the way they care for guests. The family is very attentive and genuinely tries to help with everything. When we had issues with our transport (our bus was cancelled), they immediately stepped in to assist, which we really appreciated. They also provided plenty of complimentary water, which was a nice touch. The room itself was good, with nice lighting and decoration, and a cute balcony facing the street. It was also surprisingly quiet. The rooftop is a highlight, offering a great view of the fort and a very relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was simple but homely, and the location is very convenient, within walking distance of many attractions.

The overall approach to service is very hands-on, which is clearly well intentioned. However, at times it can feel a bit intrusive, especially if you’re used to having more personal space. This may simply come down to cultural differences, as some travellers might appreciate this level of attention more than others.

When we arrived AJ met us and took us to the hotel. We were already off to a good start. Our rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The beds were also comfortable and large. The bathroom was a generous size and modern. There was plenty of hot water. Suraj Haveli is a family home with accomodation above. What made it special for us was the family environment. It was much more than staying in a hotel. We were made to feel like part of the family. It was one family having another as guests. Our 14 year old daughter made friends quickly with a young family member her own age and in no time she was on the back of a scooter visiting family friends. AJ couldn't do enough for us. Tips for around the town - which you'll likely need should you not want to buy extremely overpriced textiles and 'antiques'. The breakfasts were great and a great way to start the morning looking over the old town. The Mehrangarh Fort is a 15-20 min walk from the hotel - and it's not the tourist route. You can wander up the backstreet shops this way. As with many places in India I would recommend getting up early for a wander. The narrow lanes of the old town are quiet and you'll find a good chai down near the Clock Tower. I would have no hesitation in telling others to stay here.

This was a homestay but it wasn't clear to us when booking it. We arrived exhausted just wanting to relax in our room but were quizzed etc for ages in the lobby before being allowed in. As a homestay it felt awkward to know what was expected of us. Attentive until we paid then switched off from us totally which contradicted what they'd said before. Expensive in comparison with other places. .

Homestay is closed to the fort. It’s a family house where you can immerse in the culture, culinary habits on them. The children of the family are eagle to help all the time. Room has all the toiletries mentioned on the description, safe and on They have a manual lift to carry for luggages. This is a vegan homestay.

Das war wirklich ein ganz wunderbarer Aufenthalt. Ich bin angekommen und wurde indisch willkommen geheißen. Ich habe ein kostenloses Upgrade für ein sehr schönes Zimmer mit Balkon und FortBlick erhalten. Das Zimmer ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man sich wünscht: Ventilator, Aicon, Pflegeprodukte, Wasserkocher, Tee und Kaffee, sogar Bademantel! Die Familie ist sehr freundlich und zugewandt. Für mich war es ein wunderbarer Aufenthalt und ich würde jederzeit wieder hier wohnen! Zumal die Lage in der Altstadt perfekt ist!

Beautiful home stay run by a multi generational family. Great breakfast on the rooftop with a view of the fort. It was our favorite stay in India. We also used their recommended guide who took us on a great full day tour of the city. Highly recommend!

That we didn’t stay longer!

Suraj haveli is the perfect combination of the comfort of a hotel with the warmth of a home stay! Ajay and his family were so warm and welcoming during our stay. Ajay shared many local recommendations for restaurants and helped arrange transport to the airport. The Suraj haveli is also perfectly located in the old town so close to everything! During my stay I was unwell and ajay and his family were so helpful bringing me food and water. Next time i am in Jodhpur I will stay there again!

I liked the homestay. The people who were managing the homestay were fantastic. They even helped us at the time of distress. The homestay owner stays in the same house and he and his family really helps all the guests to have a comfortable stay. They also guide the guests with all the places to visit. The breakfast was also quite heavy. The fort view from terrace was next level. Our room also had a view of the fort.

What we did not like was not related to the homestay. The homestay as such is great. The narrow road that leads to the homestay was quite unhygienic with all the garbage strewn over the road. At times there were sewage water flowing over the road which was unavoidable to cross the street. I hope the city municipality takes care of the hygiene factor in future.

Sous couvert d’un esprit « home stay », une impression persistante qu’il ne s’agit que d’un argument marketing pour exploiter un filon qui, à ce tarif, est sans doute juteux. D’où vient ce décalage entre les commentaires élogieux, les photos flatteuses et la réalité, nettement moins idyllique ?

The location is absolutely unbeatable! We stayed in a room with a balcony and enjoyed the most stunning view of the fort. The room itself was beautifully designed, full of thoughtful touches like indirect lighting and elegant decorations that made it feel so cozy and special. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing fantastic recommendations for dinner in the old town. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

The rooftop breakfast was phenomenal! The entire family was so generous, kind and hospitable. I was unwell the morning I was meant to depart and AJ arranged for an extra night, rescheduling of my taxi and a hospital visit. I can't thank him enough. You will not meet better people in your travels.

I had some minor hiccups, but everything was rectified promptly and to my satisfaction.

Fantastic and friendly staff/family! As a female solo traveler, this was especially comforting. AJ in particular provided great tips and recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area, and everyone made it feel like a home.

As mentioned in the room info, it was harder to find on maps/autos can’t reach it but they’ve put very helpful signs with arrows up to make navigating the narrow streets easier!

Warm family atmosphere in which I was made very welcome. The room was clean and spacious and well provided for. The roof terrace was comfortable with excellent views of the fort, a great place for breakfast, but also for contemplating early evening. The owners were also very helpful in organising guided tours and transport.

Nous avons reçu un accueil très chaleureux, on se sent presque comme à la maison ! Notre chambre était très propre, joliment décorée et avec de l’eau chaude. Le gérant est très sympathique et nous a très bien accueillis, toute l’équipe était aux petits soins avec nous. Nous sommes venus célébrer Holi pendant ce séjour. Le petit déjeuner est bon et la vue sur la ville depuis le rooftop est magnifique. C’est également là qu’il est servi, ce qui est très agréable pour commencer la journée en contemplant le paysage. L’hôtel est aussi très bien situé, dans une petite rue sans issue, donc très calme. Nous recommandons vivement !

This homestay is a true Gem of Joghur , we are so glad we booked here its a traditional homestay in the heart of the back streets., Fantastic friendly welcome with snacks and water , quirky room , very clean , lovely balcony overlooking the Fort and right in the heart of the blue city. You can't get a cab to the door , but a tuk tuk will take you to a drop off point just 2 minutes away, through the back streets of Jodpur. Which are like any other streets in India... unless you are staying at the Palace . Excellent location for all the attractions and plenty of roof top restaurants near by . We recommend this Gem .

It is a very authentic home stay. The family are extremely welcoming. The furnishings and decorations are attractive and the views from the roof terrace to the fort are absolutely amazing. AJ is such good host and goes the extra mile to ensure that you make the most of your stay. Every type of tour can be arranged. AJ even gave us a lesson on how to make Masala Chai in their kitchen. Qui entrerete a far parte di una famiglia fantastica, che farà di tutto per farvi sentire a casa anche dall’altra parte del mondo. La struttura è bellissima, la terrazza panoramica è una vera meraviglia ma la cosa che fa la differenza è il cuore e l’affetto che trasmettono i proprietari della struttura e la loro famiglia. Si sono fatti in mille con noi nonostante i mille cambi di programmi, e consiglio con tutta me stessa di passare almeno una notte qua e soprattutto di fidarvi di tutti i loro preziosi consigli.

AJ is a great host and very friendly, we only had a short stay but AJ got everything sorted for us at short notice. Room was lovely with view of fort, shower was hot, bed very comfy and room was a good size. Breakfast Indian style on rooftop overlooking the fort was fantastic. Best of all was that all the family were warm and welcoming which made us feel at home. Lovely place to stay.

Hartelijk ontvangst met plaatselijke tips voor een bezoek aan de hotspots en trekpleisters van de stad en aanbevolen restaurants. Het is ook leuk dat de familie op het gelijkvloers woont en ze je een huiselijk en welkom gevoel laten ervaren.

Het ontbijt was heel beperkt. Hier zou men toch wat extra inspanningen mogen leveren. Bij aankomst was het toilet niet netjes (er was op de bril geürineerd).

AJ and his family were such diligent hosts, and were very accommodating of our late arrival in the evening. The Haveli is centrally located but also lovely and quiet despite being in the middle of the city. The bedrooms are well equipped with everything you might need, and very comfortable. The breakfasts were also lovely, and they even provided us with a take away breakfast on our last day due to an early flight. We loved staying here, thank you!

We had an excellent stay at Suraj Haveli. For the one night we stayed we were greeted with hospitality and kindness. The location was an excellent feature of our stay, where we were able to enjoy views of the fort and Jodhpur area on the rooftop. Additionally, amenities worked well (A/C, amazing hot showers). But the best part was certainly the family’s kindness: we were even made breakfast for our early morning travels which was the sweetest. We absolutely recommend Suraj Haveli for your Jodhpur stay

Great view from the rooftop. Also the fort can be viewed from the mountain facing balcony as well. The family is very helpful and will try their best to make the stay comfortable especially Mr Abhishek/Akash. The days we stayed were busy days and we could enjoy the breakfast only once on the rooftop with excellent view of the fort the other day we got the dry snacks packed for travel. I believe the breakfast would be better on other not so busy days, however we the variety and quantity was generous.

It's not a dislike instead a few points to improve my next stay. I would like to book a little more in advance to get an even better view and ask for the required stuff well in advance as well to make my next travel more comfortable and memorable.

There are spacious and clean rooms, beautiful rooftop for breakfast and to spend some time relaxing. It is centrally located to get to the Fort and the blue city but also to the market. Also the very good breakfast, on the owner's recommendation we tried the Indian breakfast and it was very good. The owner was available from the first moment, assisted us and offered a beautiful tour of the city. It’s a perfect place to stay in Jodhpur, if I were to return I would still choose it.

I’ve had a wonderful 4 night stay at Suraj Haveli. If you’re looking for a hotel this is not your place to stay but if you want to be welcomed by a lovely family I can highly recommend it! Breakfast was great with Indian or continental option. MJ, his brother VJ as the rest of the family provided me with great tips for the city. The location is perfect to explore most of the things by foot.

First of all the hotel is kind of a home. They treat the guests like family and thus its name- "Homestay". Location is awesome. Having dinner on its rooftop is cheery on the cake. The view is amazing.

Location is in old city that not open to 4 wheel traffic. Was inconvenient to get round in a car from this location without walking to the main square. Old city is dirty and has several stray dogs. The property itself has rooms on multiple floors led by narrow stairs.

Clean, comfortable, and peaceful place. The hosts were super kind and helpful from day one, helping us with reservations and recommending great spots. We definitely recommend it!

2 things stood out. The location in the heart of the city. Very busy nearby but quiet at the venue. A good rooftop terrace with excellent view of the fort and perfect to watch the sunset Secondly, AJ and his brother (can’t remember his name) were excellent hosts and did a lot beyond the call of duty to make our stay enjoyable. AJ is a lot of fun and speaks good English and is a wealth of knowledge about the city and used it to our advantage. They found a dry cleaner at short notice to solve a problem. On our departure day, AJ got up at 4 15 am to ensure we got away safely and on time

Our room felt tired and did not have a window and was a little bit damp. Continental breakfast is not v exciting

Voelde wat als een scam om mee te gaan op de Bishnai village tour, was vriendelijke gids, maar je stopt op 3-4plekken, en moet altijd verplicht fooi geven en ze zijn altijd wat verveeld als je niks koopt. Leek wat een toerist trap, terwijl wij gewoon het lokale leven wilde zien en meer over weten, betekent niet dat we altijd maar willen kopen.

Suraj is a family owned Haveli, with the extremely nice and kind family living on the ground floor and guests staying on the first and second floor. The staff were excellent, gave us tips on where to go and organised a rickshaw for us. The haveli is also tucked away in a little side street, meaning it gets less noise than other places. Hot water was, compared to other places, also not an issue.

The cleanliness of the room was a bit on the low side.

Quieter location in old town alleyways. Great comfortable bed and the best Pillows we have had on our trip so far! Spectacular views of the fort from rooftop where food is served. AJ and his family are very hospitable and kind. Great recommendations for what to do, AJ was full of information about local area and how to do it. He also arranged a tour guide and driver to our next destination for good price.

The hotel is located on a nice quiet street but still easily accessible to the main bazaars and attractions. Lovely family who were happy to help with our travel needs and give recommendations. Lovely clean property with amazing views from our bedroom.
