I had a very pleasant stay at Roma Guest House in Aswan. The room had two single beds that were wide, comfortable, and very clean. The bathroom is small but functional and was clean, with shampoo and toilet paper provided. The air conditioning worked very well, and there was also a ceiling fan. The Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. Breakfast is simple (omelet, cheese, and coffee or tea), but it’s a good start to the day. One of the best features is the large terrace with a beautiful view of the Nile River. The location on the island is nice and quiet, and the boat fare is only 15 EGP, which is very affordable. The owner is extremely kind and honest. He helped arrange a shared tour to Abu Simbel Temple at a good price, as well as another trip to Luxor including visits to Kom Ombo Temple and Edfu Temple. He also gave very helpful advice about what to do in Aswan. Overall, the price is very cheap compared to the quality of the room and service. I highly recommend this place.
The bathroom is a bit small, but it was clean and functional, so it wasn’t a big issue.
Great place! Great people! This place is very good.
Most important that house is clean and on good location. I see that some people coplaining about noise,it is not true,it is on calm island. Problem is that Aswan at the moment offering very poor quality in city center that i already tried,so Roma house and Elephantine island was like saving from the hell of noice, dirt and trash that are on the East side of the Nile.
Staff were friendly and helpful when I saw them. The room was well equipped, tidy and clean. This included a fridge and heavy blanket (which was needed before sunrise). Bed and wifi were fine. Shower was hot enough. There was a kettle and tea and coffee to share on the terrace. The terrace was pleasant with a clear view of the Nile and Aswan's East Bank. The Nubian breakfast was good and provided punctually. Roma House is less than 10 minutes walk from the ferry to the East Bank. I'd probably stay again if I was on a budget. The ferry from the East Bank leaves just south of the KFC, down the rainbow stairs. There are reasonable eateries on the island. It's good to watch the feluccas from Feryal Garden (worth the 50 EGP) and there is a Carrefour supermarket a little further up the road from there if needed.
The shower was between the sink and toilet and the space available was very tight. (But a squeegee was provided so you could dry the floor after use.) Despite the city being across the river there was some road noise but it was nothing dire. The staff were very unobtrusive. I hardly saw them. The street on Elephantine Island are all sand so be prepared to carry your luggage.
An amazing place and khaled is a great host. Having coffee in the morning from the rooof, was such a pleasure. They also had a wonderful breakfast. Highly recommended !
The host came to pick us up on the other side of the river and showed us the way to the place:) He was very kind and answered the phone right away always.
Honestly this is exactly what we thought we booked if not better, there is nothing we did not like. Everything was there, breakfast was amazing, the showers were hot and the beds were comfy.
住宿在象岛上,性价比很高,离码头很近。有个大公共阳台,可以看到 风景,店家有船可以去看日落,价格合理。
房间很小,厕所很局促没有排风
The host is fine. She helps almost everything you need, it’s fine person.
In terms of offline transactions, more sincerity is needed. Our offline USD payments are even more expensive than online, and the hostess treated us like easy targets, pocketing the platform's service fee for herself. If you're going to transact offline, it's best to negotiate clearly in advance. Moreover, the prices for their other services are shockingly high—charging $10 for a 200-meter shuttle ride is practically treating people like fools. She hardly ever replies to WhatsApp messages unless you send something like, "What’s for dinner?" in advance—then she might respond. Because unless you’re spending extra, she treats you indifferently—unwelcoming and even arrogant.
Roma house is amazing choice if you don't mind taking ferry to the island and back. Anyhow there is amazing location in the middle of Nile. Room is super clean and beds are comfortable. There is lovely living room also.
The wifi is very very strong The tour to Abu Simbel provided by this hostel is ok with the price ($25/person with pickup). It starts from 4 am in the morning and come back at 1pm. The hostel is quite near King Jamaica restaurant which provides nice meals. The hotel room is quite small but has 2 single beds so it's Ok for us.
It is located in Elephantine island so it is too tiring to bring a lot of suitcases on and off the ferry. I wish that I can check this out before booking. The ferry fee is not cheap if you want to leave the hotel before 8am and after 4pm (it will cost 100 EGP more) The landry service is too costly. 5usd/ kg and we had to pay 15 USD for all of our clothes which are washed and dried under the sun in the day we left!
When in Aswan, I always stay at Roma House!! OK, I’ve only stayed there twice, but I would go back in a heartbeat. “Why?”, you ask. Because the room is comfortable, the shower is hot, the view is to die for, the location is amazing and the price is the best. There is an outdoor kitchen space with 2 electric hot plates as well as a barbecue if you prefer. I’ve used both very effectively. The price also makes this a very attractive place to stay. There are 3 rooms overlooking the roof terrace and there is also a small self-contained apartment with 2 single beds, a few doors up the street. (When I stayed the first time with my wife, we extended our stay by a few more days and moved to this small apartment. ) Mariam is a perfect host. She will arrange tours for you at reasonable rates, or she will leave you to organise your own excursions without any fuss. She provides a good breakfast if you wish. The location on Elephant island is amazing. Can you believe that there is a place in Egypt where there are no cars, no motorbikes, no traffic noise and car horns? This is Elephantine where there are mango orchards and vegetable gardens and basically no machinery. Three minutes on the ferry will get you to and from the island for 10EGP (US$0.20) each way. On this eastern side of the island, there are a couple of good places to eat, have a beer or glass of wine and watch night fall over the Nile.
I have no complaints about Roma House.
Responsive hosts, beautiful room, there is a place to drink tea on the roof.
Inside the house it was clean. Hot shower. Clean bed.
Location was in a very dirty ghetto. Unsealed dusty roads. Full of garbage on the street. Breakfast with Egyptian bread with omlette and coffee was 250 EGP. Due to location had to cross in local ferry every time. Ferry was 10 EGP each way. The location made it quite uncomfortable with the travel for me. I was not aware that the place is on an island.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Roma House was a fantastic base for our visit to Aswan. Everything was clean and comfortable, much nicer than the pictures show. The family looked after us beautifully, organising a private car at a good price to Abu Simbel and the airport and making a delicious breakfast. Highly recommended!
Much better than we expected, for the price! The setting is lovely, super clean rooms with a balcony and the terrace is great to hang out in in the evening. The host is very kind. Would 100% stay again. Love the decoration and charm.
Very nice spot, clean and calm
Lovely guest house on front of the Nile . Quiet and very cosy. Thé roof top IS a plus.

Good host and good room with terrace.Next to Bob Marley Restaurant you can order from terrace.I can recommend to everyone.
Everything was perfect here. We were really welcome, the place is perfectly clean, it is beautiful and the food was excellent. And you can ask for any excursion they will do it for you!
Very comfortable place to stay, the owners are very kind and helpful
Loved the vibe and the peaceful environment. I have never slept so well in Egypt as I did here.
Everything was great ! Good location, Big terrasse, some water, tea and are available. Room very clean !
The door doesn't close from inside. Sometimes need earplug to sleep with the music of the restaurant close to the hotel
The accomontation was clean, comfortable with aircondation, and the kitchen has a big fridge. The lady owner was very helpful, she made us breakfast and dinner and arrange for us a beautiful private boat tour on the Níle.We were at Agha Khan Mauzoleum, Monastry of St.Simeon ( by camel) and Botanic Garden in Kithener's island and we wisited a Nubián village.
Everything is so good
Nothing
Very dirty. Animal can’t stay there DONT GO AND STAY
Mariam provides lovely, homely, personal accommodation. She has 3 rooms above her family home with an open rooftop overlooking the Nile. She will provide a good breakfast on request, served in the shade of the pergola. There is also a good barbecue with charcoal which which we used, although you may need to buy the charcoal. Mariam will organise trips to local sites if you wish her to do this for you. It’s very convenient for people without much time. Elephantine island is delightful and there are interesting walks and sites to see there if you have time.
The bed in our room was hard. Others who stayed in different rooms did not have a problem.
Very cozy place and clean room! Hostess is super friendly and helpfull, she cooked a very delicious dinner for us :)) Highly recommend!
Clean, helpful staff. We had nice accomodation.
Very caring family who rent clean rooms. Good views from the rooftop.
Prayer Loudspeakers are just a house away so it almost feels like we have the loudspeaker in our room.
We had a lovely stay in Roma House. Our Host was so friendly and he helped us with everything in and around Aswan. You can hang out and have breakfast at the neighbours of Bob Marley guesthouse. He arranged a lovely tour to Abu Simbel. We would definitely recommend staying here!
The room was comfortable and the terrace was very relaxing! Miriam was so helpful and arranged several trips for us to Abu Simbel and File island (Isis temple). The dinner she gave us was delicious too! Highly recommended!
Nice room and bathroom Good location close to King Jamaica and Bob marley Friendly hosts
General advice for anyone visiting Aswan - shop around for prices for tours and transports. Prices are often wildly inflated due to the influx of 5* cruise tourists
Great location, decent breakfast, friendly host, lovely room and amazing view . Love the island
Mariam does want to make money from her guests, which is normal, but having lived in Egypt for 6 months (which she knew, we were speaking Arabic) I found it a little irritating that she thought we would believe her prices were "better than you can find anywhere" when they were a lot more than prices I ever pay in Egypt. One thing was the meals she cooks, the other was the Abu Simbel trip she organised for us. She told us that the ferry at night costs 5 USD when it is clearly written by dock that its 50EGP at night (1.6USD). These are small things and I know life is very hard for Egyptians now due to the economic situation etc. but it never feels nice being lied to under the guise of hospitality. I don't mind paying higher prices but please be honest about it, don't tell us "special cheap price especially for you because you speak Arabic" and you're taking the same cut (for ringing the bus driver) as for everyone else. Anyway Mariam was very friendly, the money thing is my only criticism.
Very nice place to stay!
Amazing location beautyfull room comfortable beds and great owners taking care of you. Elefantina is best place to stay in Aswan. Owners arrange trip to Abu Simbel which i encourage a lot. They also arrange felucca and it is fantastic experienxe to enjoy area. Elefantina is my favoirit place in Egipt for nowZ i highly recommend
- Clean, Quiet, Comfortable - Good view from terrace - Convenient location, 5-10min walk away from pier
The owner was very helpful and the location was near to everything and the room was pretty clean
Nothing except The smell of the chickens in the roof
Miriam is easy going and helpful. She arrange a trip to abu simbel for me very cheap. Room was clean and big, overlooking Nile river. Breakfast was good. A little bit noisy because of Bob Marley house very close where put often music, even during the evening. After all, i really enjoied my staying there. Im missing Elephantine island
The location is amazing and the lady was very kind. The design of roma house is really cool
The bathroom was very small and the shower is just installed on top of the toilet, but it's understandable because the room is small, there is not enough space I guess
Roma House is the perfect place to stay in Aswan. Its location on elephantine island is in the middle of a Nubian village and very quiet compared to mainland Aswan. The room was very clean and the owner always made sure I had everything needed and felt comfortable. A real hidden gem in Aswan!
Great location, surrounded by friendly people and the Nubian island is very peaceful. The shower provided hot water and good pressure. The property was mostly clean.
It is NOT an apartment, as advertised. It is just an ensuite with no living room, kitchen etc. We advised of our arrival time hours before the time, and were not greeted and so had no idea how to enter the property and were left outside. This is supposed to be a budget stay (which is why we booked it), but were asked to pay 2 EUR a night, PER PERSON for wifi!! Breakfast was quoted at 4 EUR per person, which is more expensive than the awesome nearby restaurant, where were also given the wifi for FREE! Based on reviews that the breakfast is continental (not African, but the basic European), we chose not to take up the “offer”. We were paying $20 a night and for basic wifi and a simple breakfast we would have been paying an extra 12 EUR total a day!! We were also told immediately upon arrival that we could reach out about anything, yet when we tried calling and sent a text just 5 minutes later, there was no response. The entire trip we never received contact, until our last night, where we were asked if we needed anything (when we are now leaving the very next morning), and what time in the morning we would be going. Also the shower drain blocked 2 days in.
We spent 2 lovely days in Roma House. The appartement was very nice (we didn't use the kitchen) and the beds comfortable. Everything was clean and the host very helpful. Close-by there are two very good restaurants and the boat dock. We definitely recommend!
The room was super clean.
A bit hard to find, we were told to use Google maps to find the place but Google maps lists the place about 100m from its true location.
Super quirky little room, spotlessly clean and Maryam and Khaled were super friendly hosts. I really can’t fault it and would come back again any day!
It is an amazing guesthouse run by an amazing family. The place was as shown on the photos. Everything looked like new an it was really clean. They were really helpful with everything, fantastic communication before and during my stay. The fact that they organised my trip to Abu Simbel for the best price makes them another good choice. Amazing views from the terrace.
Everything was perfect, just the location on google maps is not 100% exact but wasn’t a big issue as everyone on the island is really helpful.
- location close to the ferry - rooftop
- extremely smelly bathroom (drainage) - noisy - lack of fruits for breakfast
Althoight the proprty specified checkout time 8-9am, we were allowed to check out at 10am and stayed on the roof terrace until 12pm because our train was 5:15pm
Simple but good!
It was tricky to find the guesthouse on the first day and Elephantine is full of dirt roads - however, the locals are more than happy to help you out so just holler for assistance!
The woman looked after us so well, regularly checking if we needed anything. Great value for money. She helped organise a day trip to Abu Simbel for $25 USD which was much cheaper than others, and also cooked a delicious dinner for us for $7 USD. The roof top spot was fab for breakfast and to chill out, and the neighbours cat was very friendly. We also had access to a filtered water tap, super handy.
Breakfast was quite basic but did the job, a boiled egg, carton of feta, bread, helva and jam. Tea and coffee too. But sets you up well for the day, and great value for the money we paid.
room , installation, clean, welcoming , AC and fan
