Reviewed Sep 10, 2026ich habe am 4.juni 2026 1 dreibettzimmer und ein zweibettzimmer mit der buchunhgsnummer 6932100825 gebucht. aus persönlichen gründen mussten wir an freitag auf ein doppelbett und ein einbettzimmer umbuchen. died wurde vom hotel holunderhof freundlich gewährt. bei unserer abreise mussten wir aber auf der rechnung feststellen, dass der volle betrag von € 1.022.36 abgebucht wurden. das finde ich absolut nicht in ordnung. als jahrzehntelanger kunde muss ich stärksten protestieren. ich ersuche sie den differenzbetrag auf mein konto bei der bank austria, lautend auf prof. mag. werner ueberbacher 5559 2017 0738 8300 zu überweisen. besten dank ihr werner ueberbacher

Reviewed Sep 9, 2026Dieses Hotel ist für Familien wärmstens zu empfehlen. Es überzeugt mit einer modernen, stilvollen Einrichtung und einer Wohlfühlatmosphäre. Ein großes Lob geht an das Personal für die tolle Gastfreundschaft und die erstklassige Sauberkeit.
Das Hotel besticht durch seine wunderbar ruhige Lage. Einzig die Wände sind etwas hellhörig, sodass man Geräusche aus den Nachbarzimmern recht leicht wahrnimmt. Dank der ansonsten tollen Atmosphäre hat uns das aber kaum gestört.

The hotel is lovely, the location is great, and the staff were very kind and helpful. the dinner was absolutely delicious, and the evening waiters deserve a special mention — 10/10! They were incredibly kind, attentive and professional. Hats off to them!
Unfortunately, there were some hygiene issues, including cobwebs and hair in the bathroom and room. I mentioned this to reception during our stay, and they were very kind and apologetic, but I believe this should not happen in a four-star hotel. The breakfast was a little disappointing for €22 per person/breakfast, as we expected more variety for the price.

Das Hotel liegt ein paar Minuten zu weit außerhalb des Ortskerns um mal eben schnell essen zu gehen, aber das ist bei der Buchung sichtbar und vorher bekannt. Kein 24h Personal am Empfang (es ist extra nochmal jemand gekommen, um unsere sehr frühe Abreise zu ermöglichen - super nett).

Très bien situé car à quelques pas du téléphérique que nous avons utilisé pour nous amener au départ d'une très jolie randonnée (après avoir pris également le télésiège). Très bon repas pris à l'hôtel le premier soir (attention fermeture du restaurant le dimanche et le lundi). Très bon petit déjeuner. Chambre spacieuse et confortable, au calme.

Location wise it was also perfect for motorbike touring. Parking was available and safe for the bikes. Breakfast has been particularly good with plenty of options to please everybody.
The restaurant was closed Sunday's and Monday's. That was a bit of a downer as we were intending to eat there. Still on the first day we has a restaurant across the road and on the second night we ordered in, so overall not too back.

Basic rooms and facilities, overpriced breakfast (boiled eggs being the only hot option, despite being €22 per adult!). The restaurant food itself was really nice in the evening, but service was very slow - and, when we complained, the owner was completely disinterested. In Winter, the location next to the cable car is probably great. In Summer, it’s in the middle of nowhere, to the side of a large empty carpark. One bus per hour into town, none back and you have no chance of finding a taxi back after about 4 pm - no option but a 30 min walk up the mountain to get back every night.

Reviewed Jul 25, 2026Wat een heerlijke locatie! Vorig jaar waren we hier voor het eerst en dit jaar hebben we onszelf op een extra nachtje getrakteerd. Geweldig mooie locatie, super vriendelijk personeel. Dit keer ook gebruikgemaakt van de sauna. Heerlijk en vooral belangrijk, schoon en goed onderhouden. Bij het avondeten maakte de tafeldame steeds een gezellig praatje. De bedden zijn ook heerlijk en het appartementje waar we in zaten was lekker ruim. We komen hier zeker nog eens!

Jammer dat we er 's avonds niet konden dineren vanwege een personeels tekort in de keuken. Meestal is het eten ook voortreffelijk.

Reviewed Jul 21, 2026The property in general was ok, however they are offering rooms that they don’t have in reality, then after booking they offer you worse option like a room without windows with separate beds but for same price, and they are not willing to solve the matter.
After checking in and finding out that one of the rooms in the apartment is unbearable due to heat and no window, my friend and his wife went to check out and booked another hotel nearby. Hotel refused any discount or solution, the reception staff was extremely rude and unhelpful, laughing in the face of customers, which is a shame because rest of the hotel staff was exceptional, so it dilutes the overal feeling. The manager was apparently nowhere to be found and then we were told that the manager is at home. Compared to other stays we had days before, this is one was the worst, in fact the service from reception was the worst I have ever experienced. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. It should be illegal to offer rooms that you don’t have in reality.

L’unico aspetto da migliorare è che la Signora alla reception parla solo inglese e tedesco ed essendo al confine con l’Italia un minimo di italiano aiuterebbe.

Staff at reception leave quite early 10pm. Meaning you need to use your card to get in and out hotel. Seems deserted. Not a huge issue but seemed strange.

Before I retired, I previously traveled a lot for work all over the country while staying at a HILTON Group Hotel 45 weeks out of the year as a Diamond. This Hotel exceeded my expectations and was better than most of my HITLON experiences. We received an excellent room and love this Hotel. If I could, I would give 11 Stars.

Reviewed Jun 26, 2026Spacious clean room and lots of parking space. It is in the north of Lienz, but as the city is not big it is no issue to go to the center of town as it is only a short distance.
It was a warm day and for a hotel like this we had expected AC. They put down fans, but we found this a bit poor.

Nothing really. It was a good 20 minute walk to the centre of Lienz but quite a nice walk.
