Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Our stay at Flora del Rio was absolutely amazing!! We cannot recommend it highly enough. Pablo and Melissa were so welcoming. The cabin was cozy and comfortable, and the art in it was beautiful. Each morning I got to wake up and watch birds from the hammock. By far our favorite part of the stay was getting to be out in nature and learn about the farm from Pablo and Melissa. I loved learning about the sustainable practices and environmental restoration. Also the breakfasts were phenomenal. You can't get fresher, more local food than on this farm. And breakfast comes with such entertainment, watching all the birds fly in to eat fruit near the house. We have the sweetest memories and warmest wishes for Pablo, Melissa, and their dog Dana. Staying on the farm in Pijao was a big highlight on our trip. We won't stop telling our family and friends how great it was!

A paradise to disconnect and meet the most wonderful Quebec-Columbian couple on earth😄🥰 Passionate about their countries and world culture, by their amazing organic farm, by birds, by plants, by travels...They speak excellent English and French, and it's a wonderful time sharing their stories. Their cabanes and rooms are perfect, and they take care of our diner and breakfast preparing delicious local dishes!

Reviewed Feb 11, 2026Melissa und Pablo haben mit ihrer Kreativität und Hingabe einen einzigartigen Ort der Ruhe und Erholung geschaffen. Von Vogelbeobachtung und Führungen auf der Farm oder naturkundlichen Touren im Umland ist Flora del Rio ein guter Ausgangspunkt. Das schöne Örtchen Pijao lässt sich fußläufig erkunden und es gibt tolle Wanderwege in der näheren Umgebung. Morgens gibt es super leckeres, abwechslungsreiches Frühstück und abends gibt es unter anderem den leckersten Salat den ich bisher in Kolumbien gegessen habe. Für uns war die Flora del Rio einer der schönsten Orte Kolumbiens. Danke Melissa und Pablo.

Mélissa et Pablo, un couple québéco-colombien, sont des hôtes incroyables : chaleureux, accessibles et attentionnés. Leur cuisine est un vrai réconfort : soupes savoureuses, pizza maison et les meilleurs patacones que nous avons mangés en Colombie ! Petit-déjeuner livré en panier ou servi sur la véranda avec vue sur les oiseaux et playlists maison. L’endroit est convivial avec instruments, livres, jeux, et Tahna, la chienne adorable. Chambre très propre, confortable avec lit douillet, nombreuses couvertures chaudes et détails soignés (céramique décorative, vitraux artistiques). Rivière à proximité pour la baignade et découverte de la ferme de café. Les petites attentions, comme les coupe-froid de bas de portes et les conseils santé quand on est malade, font toute la différence.
Préférable d'arriver à la clarté puisque c'est une petite marche non éclairée en dehors du village. Mais nos hôtes nous ont rassuré de la sécurité des lieux et sont venus à notre rencontre à mi-chemin, en nous aidant avec les bagages! Ils étaient réactifs sur Whtsp et demeuraient en communication tout au long.

La cabane est un vrai nid au milieu de la plantation où la végétation est riche.Mention spéciale pour les mosaïques verre et carrelage. Le petit déjeuner copieux et élaboré avec des produits locaux. Flora del Rio is just that special, and we’d happily share more about our experience with anyone considering it. 🌿 DETAILED REVIEW What we loved: - The People – Pablo and Melissa are exceptional hosts: thoughtful, kind, and always willing to go above and beyond to make your stay special. They’re also wonderful to talk to, and genuinely care about every guest. - The Setting – Flora del Rio sits in the charming town of Pijao in the Colombian mountains. The views are stunning, and the farm is only a 5-minute walk to a serene river where you could easily spend the day. - The Farm – The farm itself is full of fruit trees, coffee plants, and lush greenery that photos can’t capture. It is inspiring to know that the location we were staying in was built with love/care for the surrounding environment! - The Food – Breakfast (included) is always fresh and varied, and we recommend having it in the common area for the full experience. For dinner, Pablo’s soup and Melissa’s pizza are must-tries—we kept ordering them night after night 💡 TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS: - Stay longer. We stayed four nights (three full days) and were so glad we did—many other guests we met regretted shorter stays. - How we spent our time: Day 1 at the river, Day 2 farm tour and relaxing with beers/books, Day 3 mountain excursion, Perfect mix of nature and downtime. - Farm Tour: Don’t miss the guided walk with Pablo & Melissa, where you’ll learn about their eco-agro techniques and Colombia’s diverse flora. - Food Tip: Our favorite combo after trial and error—vegetable soup + half-tomato/half-pesto chicken pizza. Reviewed Aug 5, 2025Ein absolutes Paradies auf Erden! Pablo und Melissa sind herzliche Gastgeber und wir haben uns die vier Tage sehr wohl gefühlt. Bei Fragen oder organisatorischem konnten sie uns immer weiterhelfen. Die Kabiene war mit viel liebe ins Detail gemacht und wir entdeckten jeden Tag etwas neues. Besonders in der Hängematte zu liegen und die Vögel zu beobachten war wunderschön. Das Frühstück war abwechslungsreich und immer sehr lokal von der Farm. Besonders praktisch war auch der Katalog mit diversen Informationen sowie Kontakte für Aktivitäten in der Umgebung. Gracias Melissa y Pablo!

Reviewed Jul 29, 2024We spent three days at Flora del Rio and we had a wonderful, relaxing time. We stayed in the cabaña, and enjoyed the plants, the birds, the river. Pablo and Melissa have made this place into a little paradise. We brought our mountainbikes and based on their recommendations we made some really nice trips in the surroundings of pijao. We also liked the food, breakfast in the morning and home-made pizza at night.

Reviewed Jan 25, 2024Everything! Pablo and Melissa are incredible hosts - generous and welcoming. They built the cabin by hand and every single detail is incredibly well thought through. The photos don’t do it justice - it’s even more amazing when you get there! They showed us around, were v helpful via WhatsApp, great food, great conversation and a very charming dog! They helped us arrange taxis, dinner and it’s amazingly good value for money… worth spending just for the sounds and scene you wake up to. Surrounded by coffee and banana plants, trees filled with birds and the sound of the river. Not to mention fireflies at night!
