Very cute courtyard and the staff was very friendly and lovely, they gave us alternative rooms to choose from our original booking. The property is accessible by taxi as well (just in the lane Infront, 2 mins walk), some areas in Dali ancient town does not allow car access so this property is a good option if you have heavy suitcases. Pillows and bed was excellent and provided great lumbar support

Het was een gezellig hostel met een heel aardige eigenaar (Zhang). Het appartement wad ruim, de benedenverdieping was een beetje donker en rommelig, maar de kamer boven (met balkon) was heel mooi. Zhang maakte iedere ochtend koffie, thee en rijstkoekjes. Het was een rustgevende plek.

The place is incredibly quiet yet well located. A very peaceful courtyard, very well looked after. Was a joy to come back to in the evenings and espace the hustle and bustle of busy Dali. The host are very thoughtful, responsive and accommodating. Definitely will go back when in Dali.

고성 내에 있어서 주변 구경 하기에 좋고, 북문에서 가까워서 디디부르기에 좋아요. 한달살기하던 손님들이 밥 같이 먹자해서 먹었는데 넘 맛있었음 ㅠ 넘 친절하셔서 여행 시작이 넘 좋았구요, 사장님은 안계셨지만 위챗으로 챙겨쥬시고, 아주머니도 넘 친절하셨고, 숙소 컨디션도 감성도 넘 좋았습니다! 강추!!

Everything was perfect. Old style courtyard that wraps you in peace as soon as you enter. Great communication from owner from the time I booked - directions on best way via Didi etc. and the beautiful lady ms Wong who was always smiling and made fabulous tea for me and wonderful traditional Yunnan dinners. I felt part of a family. So quiet in evening. Sitting outside my room just reading after day outside in fabulous Dali Just bliss. Not for someone who loves slick anonymous hotels - this is special

Ik wilde iets anders meemaken dan een hotel, een verblijf in een oude courtyard voor een historische Chinese ervaring. 4 nachten geboekt, bij aankomst (GELUKKIG) een upgrade. In plaats van de benedenkamer, kregen wij de luxe familiekamer met balkon. Dat bleek geen overbodige upgrade, want de doubleroom bleek rampzalig. Alle dagen geen andere gasten in dit hotel gezien. De binnentuin is groen, maar niet goed onderhouden. Helaas weinig luxe in de familiekamer, geen koelkast en tv. Geen horren voor de deuren en ramen, je kreeg een electrische vliegenmepper om jezelf te beschermen. Gelukkig wel airco, anders hadden we de nachten niet kunnen overleven. Mijn bed was een soort tatami met een grote sloop over 2 dunne matrasjes. Wat opviel: we kregen een upgrade in kamer, maar een downgrade in service. Na de eerste nacht werd de kamer nog opgemaakt, kregen we nieuwe handdoeken en werden amenities nog aangevuld. Na de tweede nacht werden de bedden niet meer opgemaakt. Na de derde nacht kregen we niet eens meer nieuwe handdoeken. Het oude vrouwtje zou je niks kwalijk willen nemen, maar zij was niet consistent. De eigenaar hebben we helemaal niet gezien. Hij was alleen via WeChat bereikbaar, en heeft ons geholpen met vragen. Naar aanleiding van de goede recensies had ik meer van hem verwacht. Afwerking van het interieur was slecht. Midden in de badkamer een rioolpijp afgedekt met plastic. Afvoeren lijken een rechtreekse open verbinding met het riool. Het toilet was op de laatste avond verstopt. De badkamerdeur moest altijd gesloten blijven vanwege geur. Electra bekabeling is nooit weggewerkt. De locatie is goed. Veel leuke horecazaken in de zijstraatjes, en de oude binnenstad op loopafstand. Het is geen auto-vrije gebied, het verkeer is nog chaotischer dan in Amsterdam. Op zoek naar een authentieke beleving, dan is dit een unieke ervaring. Ik zou niet te lang boeken want in omgeving zijn veel mooiere locaties waar je heel opgelucht zult zijn om terug in de 21e eeuw te zijn

Our room which was upgraded from our original booking was spacious and beautifully decorated, with a lovely relaxing balcony. The staff were all attentive but gave us privacy and our host was responsive to our questions and arranged a car to take us to the station on our last day.

Staff were superb and helpful with any queries I had and the location was central to everything. The hotel was quiet and comfortable with the feeling of being in the countryside inside of the town.

Everything was extremely satisfactory: the quiet courtyard, the classical and elegant architecture and room design, the local life full of the warmth of daily life in the neighborhood. The most rewarding part was the communication with the housekeeper (Mrs. Wang, a Miao ethnic lady), which enabled me to have a deeper understanding of the local life. 一切都令人十分满意：清净的院落，古典雅致的建筑和房间设计，烟火气的周边当地生活，最有收获的是与管家王大姐（苗族）的沟通，更深入地了解当地的生活。

Very cute! Love the way the place looks! Quiet and peaceful. I like there is a heating system in their shower! So when you shower you won’t get that cold. Very friendly staff!

Nettes und familiäres Guesthouse das etwas neben den belebtesten Bereichen in der Altstadt liegt und daher schön ruhig. Trotzdem ausgezeichnete Lage. Wir erhielten einen upgrade auf das große und gut ausgestattete Familienzimmer. Der Besitzer ist sehr nett und extrem hilfsbereit bei den organisatorischen Dingen. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dort wohnen!

John was the best host I have had in Yunnan! His English is great. He is very accommodating and relaxed. He is always willing to help and shows genuine interest in his guests. If you are looking for homestay hospitality (in a 100 year old well maintained establishment) with a boutique like hotel room this is the place for you. He went above and beyond with service and advice with excellent communication via WeChat. Highly recommended!!!

Exceptionally helpful host and hostess. I'm an older solo traveller and I was so well looked after! I was there in July, peak holiday season in Yunnan, and I wanted to go to Shaxi. There was a shortage of drivers available so Ellen, the hostess, organised with Zhang, her husband, to drive me. Service beyond expectations. Great location in the old town, while quiet and peaceful in the guesthouse. Highly recommended.

Really nice host who makes you feel welcomed and with whom you can get into good conversation with. Comfortable rooms and also not a lot of rooms, which makes the place feel kind of like a home. Also located in a good area - not too far away from the busy areas but still quiet.

Historic location

The hotel owners were friendly and helpful during my stay. The property is charming.

The hotel owners took a photo of me during my stay, without informing me or seeking my consent. They then posted it to their social media accounts, along with information about my nationality, where in China I live, who my employer is, and what I purchased in the shops. I only found out about this a few days later while visiting another city. Someone recognised me from the post and showed it to me. It is clear I was not posing for a pic - it was taken sneakily while they offered me tea in the hotel courtyard. I was shocked by this breach of privacy and trust, and I cannot know how many times this private info and my photo were viewed, shared, screenshot, commented on, saved, etc, by others. When travelling, we pay a fee in hotels to get some sleep and basic comforts. Not to unknowingly become a fleeting sensation in the hotel owners' wechat timeline with our private/sensitive info exposed publicly. It pains me to leave a negative review, but I feel that fellow travellers need to be warned.

We especially like the Chinese styled house with a central courtyard. The host was very friendly and made our stay very much like home.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Dali. Our host, Ellen, was very welcoming and provided us with a lot of information on what were things we could do in Dali. Our room was very well appointed and the bed was amazing. We had three nights of amazing sleep. The Inn is located in a perfect and convenient location, close to shops, delicious restaurants and cafes. We highly recommend this Inn to other travellers.

The hotel is near food and shopping area, very convenient. The manager and staff are hospitable.

There is nothing not to like! The location is perfect, giving one space and tranquility. The rooms are incredibly beautiful. One has everything to be comfortable-a bed, freshly washed, crisp linen, the details that please the eye. The owners have an excellent taste. The accommodation is very close to the walking streets of the old town yet it is peaceful. If you arrive in Dali by train, you will need to consider the distance. It’s a 12 km ride by any choice of transport. If you have Didi application, it is easy otherwise contact the extremely helpful and caring Ellen! She made my short stay special! She made sure I was comfortable and oh my gosh, Ellen makes the best coffee. Seriously, the morning coffee on the porch was sooo good! She will also greet you with tea! The stay was special, making me want to come back! Thank you Ellen, you made it so very special. Ps. There is a really nice free park that opens at 6.30 if you want to see the locals exercise or if you want to sit in tranquility.

A beautiful peaceful place in the middle of the old town but in a very quiet area. Everything was perfect, the place, the room( we ve been upgraded to an even more beautiful room) , the warm welcoming. The landlord and his staff was very friendly and helpful, they help us to find a way to join the next city on our trip, even send us a driver at the tren station ( who is really far) for free. We will remember this place!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Ellen and Jan were wonderful hosts and looked after us. Jan served us lots of flavours of tea and wrote our names in traditional characters. Ellen is a ball of enthusiasm and love and makes sure that we were cared for and helped us with deciding what to do each day. The rooms and courtyard are gorgeous, a sanctuary from the excitement that is Dali. THANK YOU

The location was great as it was a very short walk to the Dali Ancient Town, and the hosts were beyond hospitable. The hosts were always ready to answer questions and provide recommendations in the friendliest manner. The room was cozy, very clean and quiet. The location was ideal right in the old city on a quiet street. The building was an authentic old city dwelling. Lovely courtyard collected the sun in the afternoon. The owner was very helpful with information about the city and its sites. At 9am each morning the owner made each guest a coffee. Room was large and comfortable, all amenities provided. Clean towels each day. Very good stay. Would stay again without hesitation.

Excellent location. Walking distance to eateries and the shopping belt. Yet peaceful and quiet when inside. We chose this accommodation as we wanted a 四合院 experience and Qingxin Guest house certainly didn’t disappoint. 郭姐 is most kind. She will be there to welcome us each time we’re home. Checking in if our day went alright. And making recommendations on places to see and foods to eat. Knowing that I enjoy my coffee, she wakes early each morning so that I can have my coffee before setting off for the day. She also recommended a reliable driver and guide contact - 大理表哥 who is very knowledgeable and shares little nuggets about the history of Dali. He enjoys photography and took really nice family photos for us. Would also like to thank the 保洁大姐 who kept our room spick and span. Always greeting us with a smile. I would highly recommend visitors to Dali to stay here.

We had such a lovely stay in Dali. The Host was very friendly and helpful helping us to arrange our days. The house and court yard are beautiful. Dali center gets very crowded in Summer, but the location is on the edge of the Old City in the middle of a few quiet streets. We stayed with two young children and had a wonderful time.

This courtyard is full of beautiful design details and traditional cultural elements. Location is very convenient, only a few minutes of walk away from the busiest area in Dali old town, close to everything that a tourist needs, yet it is very quiet. Our host is really friendly and helpful. She provided us many useful information and treated us with good Chinese tea and handmade coffee. We really feel at home here.

Beautiful courtyard. Weather wasn’t great but the environment could not have been better. On a side street so not much foot traffic outside, but you’re completely enclosed in the courtyard when inside. I was the only guest at the time, so I had full attention from the staff as well as complete privacy besides the three workers including the landlord, who came to spend time on the property at night. I can speak Chinese so I spent time with the workers drinking tea and chatting. I could not have asked for a better stay in Dali. It was everything I imagined and more.

The lady boss was super helpful and very friendly. She gave lots of recommendations of good food around the area. She gladly upgraded our standard room to a family room and we really appreaciated it. On the day we left, the lady boss came to send us off and helped us with DiDi and gave great instructions to the DiDi driver.

I felt bad that the lady boss had to carry our luggage from 2nd level to ground floor. Thank God our luggage wasn't heavy. It is not something we didn't like, she was just extraordinarily superb!

Excellent location, accessible to the old ancient town so easily. The lady boss was meticulously ensuring all guests are well taken care of, always there to greet in morning and ensuring we returned safely at night.

Lovely old home. In the old city, but not on the busy main drag- which was a plus for us. Very clean and owners were very helpful. And the coffee shop nearby was great!

I love everything about this place. The warm welcome by the hostess. The homey feeling when sit at tea table and enjoy an afternoon tea under the hundreds year old tree. you can find owners’ effort in every details and delicacy in the room settings and yard designs.
