Lage, WLAN, sehr zentral, mittendrin in der Mellah,, sehr familiär, sehr sauber, gemütliche, geschmackvolle Einrichtung, funktionierende Heizung und Warmwasser, Küche mit Kochgelegenheit, absolut spektakuläre, sympatische Dachterasse mit Blick über Stadt und Meer, ideal für fantastische Sonnenuntergänge... gerne immer wieder, sehr empfehlenswert. Wir waren schon ein paar Mal hier. Organisiert Taxi vom Flughafen.

We enjoyed the space, the decor and the view. Miluda (staff) was welcoming and exceptionally kind.

Clients shpuld be aware the stairs are very steep. Unsuitable for someone with mobility issues.

Location was very central with quick access to the beach and markets. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The views from the terrace are stunning.

It's very narrow so feels a little cramped and steep. The stairs and terrace would not suit older travellers or young children. It's a little noisy at night, but that's the trade off for being so central.

Such a relaxed place to stay! The roof terrace looks out to the Atlantic and across the Medina and must be one of the best spots for the sunset in Essaouira. Saudade was a gorgeous host, really welcoming. The house was full of art and music and was a lovely place to stay. It was a great location for exploring the town. Would recommend a trip to the fish market for fresh cooked sardines.

Great location, traditional, authentic apartment, which has been nicely refurbished, well equipped, very clean and comfortable, lovely roof terrace with sea views. I loved the interior decor. I would thoroughly recommend this apartment to anyone staying in Essaouira.

The stairs to the apartment, which is on the third floor, might be an issue for some people. Whilst I was there work was being carried out on the roof terrace which was a bit intrusive. Probably not an ongoing issue, but it was a shame for me.

The location is great and it’s a very pretty riad.

It would be nice if the deck was better cleaned and maintained.

Our room was clean and cozy. The bathroom has a great shower and all products and towels needed. The terrace has a beautiful view of the ocean. The lady welcomed us with tea and was super friendly. Definitely recommended.

We loved this place. House is beautifully decorated with all little moroccan details. Location is top - just in the heart of medina. It was very warm, we didnt have to use the heater. Rooms are cleaned daily. Hot water with good pressure in the shower (not so obvious in Morocco). The couple that owns the place is lovely! We loved chatting with them and they were very helpful with everything.

Character of the property and furnishing, lovely managers. Roof terrace. Location. Kitchenette.

Husband is 6ft 4 and our bathroom was narrow so not comfy for him using toilet as knees on wall. Stairs big, uneven and steep (like a lighthouse) so not recommended if any mobility issues. Having said that we booked for a character authentic property and everything was great and very clean. The description did not mislead. We had the private bathroom separate from our bedroom. We knew this prior and big fluffy towels were provided so no bother for us.

We had a perfect stay at Daranur. The location of the Riad, the communication with the owners, the apartment, and the wonderful terrace were outstanding. Everything is according to the description and pictures, and we would definitely return for another stay.

It was beautifully decorated with taste and charm the brows from the terrace were lovely. It was in a quiet area, and the owners were there to help whenever we had a question

Daranur was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Medina of Essaouira! Malouda is really sweet and helpful, and we felt welcomed from the first moment. The communication was excellent and we felt like home. :)

We loved everything about this charming property. But a standout for us was the roof terrace, it is truly higher than its counterparts allowing for uninterrupted views of sunrise and sunset. Hassan was very welcoming and helpful. We also loved having an open fire for the chilly evenings and the communal kitchen on the roof terrace was very well equipped for our needs.

Our stay at DARANUR was excellent. The apartment is very well-maintained and comfortable. The rooftop terrace offers stunning 360-degree views of Essaouira and is very close to the sea. The location is fantastic. Milouda and Hassan are kind and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Helpful and very friendly staff, great rooftop terrace.

We booked a double room with private bathroom. The bathroom was "private" in so far as we had it to ourselves, but to use it we had to cross a public hallway. The bathroom was nice and clean but tiny which made it a little complicated to get dry and dressed in there after showering.

Everything was great! Soedad, Milouda and Ferran were very welcoming and helpful. We felt like home. I highly recommend this place, and we are definitely coming back!

Beautifully and tastefully decorated. Spaceous rooms, and well located in the Medina. Malouda is very welcoming and a warm host. The roof terrace is a wonderful place to watch the sunset, with great vistas over the old town and coast. Great value for money.

The bathrooms were a little bijoux.. fine if you're short and slim!

The staff were lovely and the rooftop nothing less than amazing. The property was well kept, clean and cared for. The design is artistically stylish with abundant space and high ceilings. Lots of art books, elegant lighting, fabulous kitchen and open windows letting in the sea breeze. Kitchen provided all the utensils of a homely kitchen. I would recommend this guesthouse to my friends and colleagues. Only one curvy kasbah street away from the main drag.

We loved the warm welcome, the rooftop, and the beautiful decor. The location was also excellent; central yet quiet.

We stayed in the apartment on top floor which was superb - kitchen, sitting room and comfy bed. The view from the terrace is stunning and we loved the location as just off the main medina street. The owners and staff are so helpful and accommodating - we arrived at 2am and Hassan was up waiting for us. Highly recommend this place and hope to be back soon

Host was super responsive and helpful. Milouda was also great - she cleaned the apartment everyday, and helped with our laundry and luggage

The bathroom was ill-equipped and tiny. It didn’t have good ventilation, so combined with the plumbing issues of the city (that the property mentions in their house guide), the bathroom smelled quite bad all the time. And the smell seeps into the living area as well. The bathroom size was just barely ok for us, but if you are a tall or big person, it could be difficult to use the bathroom.

Hassan was very kind and helpful!

Unfortunately the roof was on construction when we were there and there were little holes on the door, but we used to fix them.

The personnel was super nice and friendly. They were very accommodating with regards to check-in/check-out. A very nice house, in the heart of medina, with a view on the ocean. Highly recommended!

Excellent apartment, clean and tidy. Superb location and the sunsets from the rooftop are priceless. The hosts (=owners) were there at the time when we stayed at Daranur. They are a super friendly couple who provided us with very good recommendations. They put all their heart into this property (the stylish and cozy decoration speaks for itself!). They go above and beyond to make their guests feel at home. We had a really great time staying at Daranur. Gracias!

We have stayed in Essaouira 3 times now, and Riad Daranur is easily our favourite place to stay. The hosts made us feel so comfortable. It felt like home very quickly for us. The bed is delightfully comfortable and it is in the perfect location for exploring. The terrace also has the best view from a Riad we've ever seen!!

We would definitely recommend staying at Daranur. It has a great location, and the place is clean and cozy. It has a very nice terrace as well where you can look over the sea. But most of all, the hosts are lovely. They want you to have the best experience and are very welcoming.

This has been the perfect place to spend a few relaxing days in Essaouira. The hosts make you feel very welcome. The interior design is beautiful! Like the perfect mix of traditional moroccan elements and more modern art and music. The terracce on the top is just as nice as it looks and it overlooks a rocky slope down to the sea. Also: supercomfy beds. Muchisima gracias! (:

The view on the terrace was excellent and the placement of the riad in the medina was ideal. we just walked out of the riad and we were there, right in the markets of the medina. That being said, the room was not at all noisy as it was just off one of the main streets

My stay at "Darantur" in Essaouira was an unforgettable experience, marking my first visit to both Morocco and this charming city. The location of Darantur is simply unbeatable - conveniently close to everything you might want to see and do, yet situated in a tranquil spot where relaxation comes easily. The room we stayed in was adorably quaint, equipped with all the essentials needed for a comfortable stay. What truly set this place apart was the beautiful rooftop terrace, offering a serene space for breakfast or a peaceful tea time, embracing the essence of Essaouira's laid-back atmosphere. However, the highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the staff. They deserve a perfect score of 10/10 for their exceptional friendliness and hospitality. Always attentive and ready to help, they made our stay even more special. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Darantur for making our first journey to Morocco so memorable. We will definitely be back!

The Riad was truly nice, with the most sweetest welcome by Hassan. The room was cozy as the rest of the Riad and the rooftop terrace was amazing. Since it’s higher then the neighbor houses you have the most amazing view. I loved to stay there and have a coffee while enjoying the view and listening to the seagulls and the noises from the streets.

The apartment is very central. You step out and you are right in the Medina very close to the fish market and such. The rooftop view is too pretty and we took some amazing sun set shots. The bed is really comfy and felt very clean not like the rest of the space. The caretaker Milouda is very sweet and kind. Even though she didn’t know much English, her kind gestures and smile really made a difference to the stay! The owner is also very responsive over texts and helpful.

It pains me to write this but I rely on honest reviews so this is our subjective opinion. We took the apartment with the private kitchen on the top most floor. It’s my mistake that I dint pay attention to the lack of air conditioner. When we arrived it was so hot with the afternoon sun beating on the bedroom window. There is not even a table fan. We stayed for two nights. The next day it cooled down but it rained so again the opened windows made it humid inside. I’m just guessing maybe the lesser priced apartments with. I kitchen probably would be better since they are one floor lower and hence cooler? Even though the apartment is very cute in a bohemian type of way, there is a plethora of small arts and such which were dust collectors. I saw myself dusting many times with a kitchen towel before I realized it’s our vacation. The point is it’s not very hotel sterile. Lastly the stairs are narrow and winding and it was a hassle to climb the 3 floors with them. We booked this because of the rooftop view and space but honestly there are much cleaner places with air con at the same price point nearby.

Nothing that I can say was remarkable

It's crumbling building and if there was a fire or earthquake, there is no way to escape. An old building does not mean that it will have tired bedding, towels and bad quality soap etc. It seems the owners just want to fleece the tourist and don't want to spend anything to offer quality services. I have stayed at many places, and even hostels in most of Europe have excellent cleanliness, beddings and towels, plus offer breakfast for far less price. I think Morocco as a whole is charging European rates but extremely poor services. If traveling to Morocco and you want to enjoy the EXOTIC culture then staying in the Madina is fine. But be warned that it's filth and urine stench that you have to deal with.

Great location. Simple, clean room. Beautiful terrace with a great view of the Atlantic.

No air conditioning so we had to keep the windows partially open. The street was very very noisy with children and people yelling to each other.

Extremely friendly staff! Great location and beautiful rooms. The best equipped kitchen we have seen in Morocco. A perfect option for guests who want to have a nice relaxing long stay and feel at home!

Painting the terrace caused minor inconveniences, but is required to give the well maintained feeling.

This is a small and simple Dar that feels like part of the town. It isn’t a modern or fancy hotel but has a home feel. It has a beautiful terrace with a fully equipped kitchen and fridge. The hosts spoke no English, but we speak no french or arabic so no complaints and not something we require or expect of the host. They were so kind and made us coffee/tea upon our arrival. They cleaned the room daily as well. The location was perfect and check in was easy. For the price, this place is unbeatable. Comfy beds, good facilities and always felt safe.

location is very good near the market and its music is fantastic, you can see the sunrise and sunset on the top floor. because we take the bus at 17:00 after checkout, the host let us put the luggage at the lobby.

The riad is really cozy, clean, and very tastefully decorated. Both Milouda and Hassan were wonderful, welcoming hosts. There is a small kitchen on the terrace that all guests can use to cook food (spices are provided by Daranur, and you can buy the ingredients at the market down the street). The highlight of this place is the roof terrace. The view of the ocean and Medina is amazing. It's the perfect spot to watch the sunset/ sunrise. We stayed here for three nights and spent most of our time walking through the Medina. The riad is ideally located if you are interested in exploring by foot.

The most beautiful place we stayed in during our trip to Morocco! The home is owned by a lovely couple who are always attentive and welcoming; they greeted us when we arrived with tea on their terrace. The rooms are decorated beautifully and are very comfortable. Everything was spotless and the home even smells amazing! You can enjoy a mint tea whenever you like on the terrace and there is also a hammock :)

Although nothing to do with the property, the Mellah can feel uninviting at night.

It is a Moroccan style house with charming rooms. The interior design is made with love, no doubt. At the terrace there is a communal kitchen to prepare dinner, coffee & meant tea and enjoying it like in your own home. Great location in the Medina, easy access to the beach. The owner very attentive & always in touch to ask us how was everything.

I liked everything & willing to go back for a longer stay.

Wonderful hosts with their place in the middle of the more local Mellah neighborhood - they were very warm and welcoming - I felt like I were staying with friends. this is was especially welcome after a especially after a traumatic experience with a hotel in Marrakech.

Everything was 100%. I had a really wonderful stay here and would high recommend it to anyone travelling to Essaouira. The owners are extremely friendly, helpful and the house itself is beautiful. The location is fantastic, right in the middle of the action, yet quiet and peaceful. I look forward to my return.

Daranur as a whole is a unique riad with lots of personality and bohemian style. I stayed in the double room then the apartment ... both were great. The apartment in particular was amazing ... I felt totally at home. The rooftop terrace with its views and little kitchen was also amazing ... ideal for chilling with a book. Milouda the housekeeper spoke French but little English ... however we mostly managed to communicate without issues ... she always very helpful and exuded warmth sincerity. Daranur was a lovely place, would certainly stay again.

We stayed in this lovely Dar with great hosts and everything was to our satisfaction. We had a great room, excellent value for money and the location was easily within walking distance of what we wanted to see and do.

Our favourite stay during our whole month in Morocco! Exceed our expectations. This find is a gem and I would really recommend. Our hosts were the sweetest couple. Super responsive from check in to check out. Making sure everything was perfect for us! Always have a smile on their faces and feel super welcoming into their home. Felt like I was saying goodbye to grandparents leaving they were so nice. The property itself is a dream. I wanted to live there. it’s decorated so beautifully and the terrace is stunning. Loved my stay at this small riad. It is cosy, comfortable and close to a shopping street with lot of local cafes and small shops. Also the terrace is great with the view to the sea. People working there are very nice, I can’t recommend it enough.
