Kubu Bakas Guest House

Super friendly family and staff who speak great English! The wooden room was beautiful (with a helpful mosquito net), breakfast was delicious, and the rural setting was so peaceful, complete with cute doggies and farming activities going on. The biggest highlight was the owner, who welcomed us into his home to share authentic Balinese culture and gave great advice on activities!

A bit out of the way, making rideshares harder to book. The private outdoor bathroom is nice, but expect a few bugs and geckos.

Wat een prachtige plek. De omgeving is werkelijk adembenemend. Maak zeker een wandeling of een fietstocht als je hier bent, je kijkt je ogen uit. En geniet van de warme en super gastvrije familie. Ons verblijf was veel te kort. De volgende keer als we op Bali zijn, blijven we langer!!

Nous avons passés deux nuits chez Ari et Sindi. C’est l’endroit idéal pour faire une pause après quelques jours à Ubud. Tout ralenti dans un environnement qui est des plus apaisant. Cette famille et toutes les personnes qui travaillent à la kubu bakas sont adorables. Nous avons fait un cours de cuisine et déjeunés avec eux, un vrai moment de partage. Les massages dans la chambres ont été les meilleurs de notre voyage. On peut décider de partir vadrouiller autour, ou juste rester sur place, tout s’adapte selon notre envie et tout est possible. Nos enfants ont pu jouer avec leurs enfants dans un environnement calme, avec de l’espace. Merci à eux pour leur accueil.

Superbe accueil par cette famille Balinaise. bungalow bien équipés et au calme en pleine nature Ari nous a véhiculé pour visiter la région. Ils nous ont aidé aussi a faire nettoyer du linge. J'ai également beaucoup aimé la cooking class réalisée sur place avec Ari et Sindi :) je recommande à 200% !

Très bel emplacement, en face des rizières et proche du village, dans un secteur authentique. Possibilité de faire des balades dans la campagne environnante à partir de l’hôtel. Le secteur Est d’Ubud est proche et facilement accessible (possibilité de louer des scooters sur place), sans l’inconvénient des bouchons. Les hôtes et le personnel sont charmants et très à l’écoute. Le logement est très propre et confortable. N’hésitez pas à à commander un massage, un des meilleurs d’Indonésie.

We loved our stay here. Ari and his staff were very welcoming and helpful. The setting was peaceful and private in the rice fields in a lovely village. The bungalow was only a couple of years old and beautifully decorated with nice furnishings. The bed was very comfortable with lovely white linen. Our dinner was delicious and breakfast was generous and yummy. The orange juice on arrival was a lovely touch. Would definitely stay again.

C'est une famille au petits soins avec leurs hôtes, très à l'écoute. Ari nous a donné de bons conseils pour les visites. Location d'un scooter à un prix defiant toute concurrence. Propose des trajets en taxi de la famille avec ou sans visites. Les petits déjeuners sont à la demande dans un décor exceptionnel. Nuits très calmes. Une mention spéciale pour les jus de fruits qui ne sont pas coupés à l'eau.

Nous avons été superbement accueillis par Hary, son épouse et son frère, ils ont été charmants et très attentionnés. Nous avons pu louer un scooter pour visiter la campagne environnementale qui est magnifique, loin du tumulte des touristes et avec une végétation luxuriante. Les bungalows sont très confortables et nous avons pris déjeuner, dîner et petit déjeuner : parfaits. Nous recommandons +++

Our stay at Kubu Bakas was beyond our expectations, we could not recommend more. The hosts are so welcoming and provide so much to give you a memorable experience. We took part in a cooking class run by Ari and Sindi which was exceptional and included a tour of the local market. The rooms are beautiful with views of the rice paddies. Everything was wonderful and great value for money. Thank you!!

This guest house situated in the countryside conquered our hearts. Ari and Sindi have been very welcoming and they made us fell at home. The room was clean, plenty of space and with a beautiful view from the balcony. The food was very good as well! In the room there is a very handy catalogue which shows you lots of activities you can do there. We had a really good stay so thank you to all the staff! Enri and Desi

Eine ganz liebe Familie und Mitarbeiter. Die Häuschen sehr süß und mitten im Grünen. Keine Menschenmassen. Es ist auch sehr leise gewesen. Ein paar Tiere hört und sieht man, aber das ist völlig ok. Ist ja Natur Frühstück wurde auch liebevoll hergerichtet.

Wanneer je bij Kubu Bakas arriveert, kom je in het pure leven van Bali. Weg van het massa toerisme, terug in het prachtige leven van de Balinese bevolking. Warm, liefdevol en rechtstreeks uit het hart. Als je geïnteresseerd bent in het leven op het platteland laat je dan onderdompelen in deze plek. .

Ari et Sindy sont un couple très sympathique qui vous reçoivent comme des amis. Emplacement fabuleux au milieu des rizières, chambre très confortable. Ils nous ont même proposé de se joindre à eux pour une cérémonie magnifique. Je recommande les yeux fermés.

La disponibilité et la gentillesse du personnel toujours prêts pour rendre votre séjour le plus agréable possible. Nos transferts effectués par Ari avant et à la fin de notre séjour ainsi que pendant notre rafting et notre après midi piscine et couché de soleil au Monkey Bar. Le massage. La sortie vélo. Le petit réfrigérateur dans la chambre. Sans oublier nos conversations et la cérémonie au temple pour laquelle Ari et Sindi nous ont prêté des tenues appropriées.

Rien car dès que nous avions un souci, le nécessaire était fait pour le résoudre ou trouver une option satisfaisante.

We loved our stay here. Everything was extremely clean, well maintained and felt quite new. The surroundings were beautiful and very relaxing the perfect place to start our trip. Even from a distance, the owners were incredibly helpful. They arranged airport pick-up for us and organized transportation for the following day, which made our arrival in the country super easy and stress-free. We really appreciated their support and kindness.

Es war ein wunderschöner Aufenthalt im Kubu Bakas. Das Häuschen, in dem man schläft, ist sehr gemütlich und hat einen gewissen Charme. Man schläft mitten in der Natur und die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich. Man kann sogar Touren mit ihnen buchen und sie können dir viel über die Gegend erzählen.

The location is stunning, nicely removed from the touristy areas but there are plenty of activities near by. The family are very friendly and accommodating, and made us feel really at home here. we have actually just extended our stay here by a further 5 days. We have also been looking for great waves to surf, off of the beaten track and found 2 "secret spots" nearby with perfect, uncrowded peaks.

Mooie eigen guesthouse middenin de rijstvelden. Ari en zijn gezin zorgen er mede voor dat je er voortreffelijke dagen hebt. Ontbijt is naar keuze en in hun Warung kun je er ook lunchen/dineren in hun prachtig onderhouden tuin. Ze zijn enorm servicegericht en denken graag mee met je eventuele plannen voor de dag. Ook qua transfers hebben ze veel voor ons betekend. Hier maak je het niet toeristische deel van Bali mee, waar wij er van gecharmeerd waren.

Eigenlijk niets. Ze willen zelf ook een pool gaan aanleggen, dat zou een extra aanvulling zijn. Nu zijn we 15 minuten lopend naar een infinity pool geweest in de buurt. En dat was ook meer dan prima.

Il soggiorno a Kubu Bakas è stato davvero piacevole, peccato non aver potuto trascorrere più tempo lì. I proprietari sono stati estremamente gentili e disponibili: ogni richiesta è stata esaudita sempre con il sorriso. La camera era pulita e molto carina. La posizione non è centrale, ma comunque comoda sia per raggiungere Ubud che Sidemen, rappresentando quindi un ottimo punto intermedio per visitare entrambe le zone. Inoltre, è sicuramente meglio soggiornare un po’ fuori dal centro piuttosto che stare immersi nel caos balinese. Purtroppo abbiamo trovato brutto tempo, ma grazie ai servizi offerti dai proprietari – oltre ai bungalow, infatti, ci sono un warung e diverse attività – abbiamo potuto trascorrere il tempo senza rimanere semplicemente chiusi in stanza. Abbiamo potuto mangiare direttamente lì, cosa molto comoda visto che ci siamo ritrovati in mezzo a un’alluvione, e abbiamo anche partecipato a una bellissima cooking class, organizzata nonostante il poco preavviso. Servizio eccellente! Ci siamo innamorati del loro gatto Coffee, ed è stato difficile salutarlo 🥲. È stato davvero un piacere poter trascorrere del tempo in questa bellissima guest house. Auguriamo il meglio a questa splendida famiglia e consigliamo vivamente questo luogo per la vostra permanenza a Bali. Un caro saluto, siete meravigliosi ❤️

La struttura si trova in un piccolo villaggio lontano da tutto il casino di Ubud o delle zone più turistiche di Bali. La struttura è esattamente come la vedete in foto, ma ciò che non potete vedere è la disponibilità, il sorriso e la gentilezza dei padroni di casa. Sindi e Ari sono stati fantastici, accoglienti, pazienti e molto disponibili. La pace e la tranquillità di questo posto è incredibile. Abbiamo passato poi una giornata intera con Ari il quale ci ha fatto visitare posti fantastici lontano dalla confusione e dalla ressa dei turisti. 🙏

Ari e Sindi con i loro bimbi Fiona e Nino, sono una famiglia stupenda e degli ospiti eccezionali, accoglienti, attenti ad ogni esigenza e desiderio dei loro clienti. Abbiamo molto apprezzato il book di presentazione che hanno confezionato, grazie a ció abbiamo compreso il sogno che li ha mossi a creare questa struttura, e gli sforzi e la determinazione per farla funzionare nonostante il covid. Una giovane famiglia che lavora sodo e a cui facciamo i complimenti perché soggiornare da loro è molto piacevole, ci si sente a casa, si è immersi nella quiete e nella natura e si fa esperienza di un’abitazione tipica Balinese. Ari ci ha accompagnato a fare la passeggiata nelle risaie di Sidemen, è stato una guida capace che ci ha fatto scoprire tutto sulle coltivazioni, le piante e le tradizioni del luogo,grazie. Avendo un pomeriggio libero a disposizione Ari ci ha anche accompagnato in una splendida infinity pool nella giungla che si trova a 3 minuti in auto da loro e che è un grande plus. Abbiamo sempre fatto colazione e cena da loro e Sindi ci ha preparato delle ottime pietanze. Consigliamo a tutti di vivere un’esperienza genuina come questa, nella semplicità e nella tranquillità di questo luogo. Un grande abbraccio ad Ari e Sindi e ai loro piccoli con cui la nostra bimba ha giocato tanto. Buona fortuna per i vostri progetti futuri e grazie per la vostra dolce ospitalità

It was a perfect place to stay. I stayed there for 4 days and 3 nights. The food was exceptional, the hospitality provided was amazing from Ari and Sindi. The transport services was very good as well. Overall, it was great and the view from the guest house was very calming. I will go here again whenever I visit Bali.

Meilleure expérience à Bali. Séjour exceptionnel dans la famille de Sindi et Ari! Tout est réuni pour découvrir le Bali authentique : la magnifique vue sur les rizières, les alentours, le village et ses habitants. Nous avons pu partager avec eux les coutumes et la vie balinaise dans une ambiance familiale et accueillante. Les cabines sont très propres et bien équipées, les plats délicieux. Plusieurs activités sont proposées, nous avons participé à la cooking class qui était une expérience incroyable. Nous sommes restés une seule nuit mais nous avons l’impression d’avoir vécu une semaine avec eux. Nous reviendrons sans aucun doute, merci à toute la famille !

Eine sehr sehr schöne Umgebung. Zudem war die Familie sowie das Personal sehr aufmerksam, hilfsbereit und liebenswürdig. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Danke für alles!

Im ruhigen gelegene, grandiose Unterkunft! Ari und seine Familie sind wirklich herzergreifend und ermöglichen es in die Kultur Balis eintauchen zu können. Die Unterkunft selbst ist modern, groß und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Das enthaltene Frühstück glänzt mit Früchten, einem balinesischen Snack und einem Hauptgericht der Wahl. Auch Mittagessen und Abendessen kann man dort essen, super lecker und praktisch. Insgesamt ein klasse Aufenthalt, gerade und vor allem wegen der tollen Familie!

Etwas außerhalb - nach sidemen dauert es ca 30 Minuten mit dem Roller (kann direkt in der Unterkunft ausgeliehen werden).

Tous... Sindi et Ari sont des hôtes adorables. Nous avons été superbement accueilli et tout au ong de notre séjour nous avons pu partager de bons moments. Partages de discution, de leçon de cuisine et de leur vie familliale. Le homestay est très agréable: vue sur les rizières, les chambres sont spacieuses, de plus vous aurez thé et café dans la chambre. Vous pourrez également faire de petites balades à pied dans les alentours. Nous vous recommandons de séjourner chez eux vous ne le regretterez pas.

Guest house tranquilla, pulita, curata, lontana dal trambusto super turistico, in mezzo alla natura, ambiente famigliare. Ari e Sindi sono degli host perfetti, ti fanno sentire davvero a casa! Ottima la colazione e la cucina del warung. Consigliata l’esperienza della cooking class con giro mattutino al mercato del paese. Una volta soggiornato qui, non vorrete più andarvene!

Super hyggeligt guest house. Ari og hans kone og 2 børn er perfekte værter. Ari har et fremragende engelsk og er god til at fortælle om Balinetisk kultur. Pålidelig og super rar person. Vi tog på flere ture med Ari: saltmaking, Arak making, Gembleng waterfall og purification ceremony helt uden turister! Desuden deltog vi i madlavningskursus hos ham- kan varmt anbefales!!!

We had an amazing stay at Kubu Bakas—it exceeded our expectations even after reading the glowing reviews. Traveling with two teenage daughters, we opted for two cottages, which gave us plenty of space. The setting is stunning—peaceful, surrounded by nature, and a welcome escape from the Ubud crowds, with a lovely quiet walking path to enjoy the rice fields and the ocean and mountain views in the distance. The true highlight was the people: Ari, Sindi, their warm family, a playful cat, and even the fellow guests made it feel like a magical home away from home. Ari and Sindi speak English beautifully, which helped us communicate and connect.  When planning our trip, I’d struggled to find somewhere that felt both comfortable and genuinely Balinese—Kubu Bakas delivered. It was relaxing, scenic, authentic, and unexpectedly enriching. We joined two of their activities and wished we’d had time for more. The bike ride through Bakas village was beautiful and adventurous—we even stumbled across a colony of monkeys. The offering-making workshop was a thoughtful introduction to daily Balinese life, and visiting the temple was quite moving. Both gave us a chance to get to know Ari, Sindi and others.

The property had a lovely authentic feel. You get to experience the beautiful rural area of Bakas Bali. Ari and Sindi were incredibly kind and hospitable and couldn’t do enough for us, even picked us up at the airport which was amazing.

Wow, was für ein Juwel. Hier bekommt man das authentische und familiäre Bali Gefühl. Das Zimmer ist geräumig und sauber, die Matratze ist bequem. Die Umgebung mit dem Garten ist ein Traum, hat mich komplett in meine Kindheit zurückversetzt. Man kann direkt vor Ort Roller mieten, mit dem man zu den zahlreichen Wasserfällen fahren kann. Die Gastgeber bieten unheimlich viele Aktivitäten an. Wir haben beim Kochkurs (inkl. Marktgang) mitgemacht und das war ein einmaliges Erlebnis. Wir wollten überhaupt nicht abreisen. Wir wünschen Ari und seiner Familie nur das Beste 🙏🏼

Incroyable moment de partage avec la famille de Ari et Sindi ! Nous nous sommes vraiment senti comme à la maison, les enfants ont pu aider à préparer les offrandes, participer à un cours de danse improvisé ou découvrir le cerf-volant avec toute la famille. Ari nous a emmené une matinée voir deux cascades et un temple magnifiques, sans aucun touriste tout en nous faisant découvrir Bali et sa culture. Les chambres étaient très bien équipées, propres et les repas délicieux. Seul regret n’être resté que deux jours !

De gastvrijheid, het persoonlijke contact met de eigenaren en hun familie, de uitstraling van de huisjes en setting, de kleinschaligheid, de prachtige natuur en de rust. Ons enige verblijf zonder strand en zwembad, waar onze 3 pubers een beetje tegenop zagen. Uiteindelijk werd het de beste accommodatie van de reis en wilden ze niet weg, zo genoten hier! Een kookworkshop gevolgd, raften, een tour naar Sidemen. Er is genoeg te doen!

Alles beviel ons aan de accommodatie.

De persoonlijke aandacht van de eigenaren en personeel, je voelt je meteen thuis na aankomst met heerlijke zelfgemaakte juice. We wilden een paar dagen afwisselen van het strand maar hadden hier langer willen blijven. Het eten was ook super goed!

Alles was perfect!

Ari en Sindi zijn de meest vriendelijke mensen die je je kunt voorstellen, niets is te veel! De kleine huisjes zijn gezellig en comfortabel en met liefde ingericht.

Oordopjes zijn handig tegen de honden die je ‚s nachts hoort blaffen. Maar daar kan de accommodatie zelf niks aan doen.

Nonostante siamo state solo una notte, abbiamo ricevuto un'accoglienza fantastica. La nostra stanza era inserita in un luogo magico e la pulizia è eccellente. Consiglio vivamente questo alloggio.

La struttura é immersa nelle risaie, a pochi passi dal villaggio. Parliamo della Bali autentica, lontana dal caos dei luoghi turistici. Io soggiorno da Ari e la sua bellissima famiglia é un’esperienza che ci porteremo conservata nel cuore. Vi ble tatt veldig godt i mot av Sindi og Ari og resten av staben, og følte oss umiddelbart veldig velkommen. Opplevde veldig god kommunikasjon både før og under oppholdet. Fine og rene hytter i balinesisk stil med fint grøntområde med utsikt til rismarkene i området. God mat og hyggelig fellesareal der vi kunne nyte den beste jordbærmilkshaken. Veldig god informasjon om mulighetene til turer/opplevelser i området, og Ari er en veldig trivelig og kunnskapsrik guide. Man kan gjerne bo her selv om man vil oppleve områder som Sidemen og Ubud, det er korte avstander og ingen andre turister i landsbyen. Vi opplevde både nattmarkedet i Klungkung og rismarkene i Sidemen, rafting, tempelet i Besakih, landsbyvandring i Bakas og besøk hjemme hos Sindi og Ari. Vil huske oppholde og gjestfriheten for alltid, og bor mer enn gjerne på Kubu Bakas igjen.

Also, wenn man ein wenig die Abgeschiedenheit und vor allem Ruhe sucht, ist man hier genau richtig. Solch liebenswürdige Gastgeber machen Bali zu dem, was es ist. Es hat an nichts gefehlt und wir haben köstlich gegessen. Auf unseren Wunsch wurden Spaghetti Kubu Bakas mit auf die Karte genommen, sehr köstlich. Es fehlt an nichts und die Katze Coffee hat uns auch gefallen. Unbedingt den Kochkurs belegen, eine wahre kulinarische Offenbarung!

Le personnel de l'hôtel sont hyper sympas ! Aux petits soins et très à l'écoute des demandes et des questions. Proposition de plusieurs activités animées par eux-mêmes. Nous avons adoré le cours de cuisine qui fut un moment de partage avec les hôtes. Et la proposition de trip d'une journée organisée par eux-mêmes était sympa, cela nous a permis de visiter pleins de site et découvrir le night market indonésien. Famille gentille et souriante ! Endroit isolé et loin de l'agitation touristique d'autres ville de Bali ! Nous attendons la piscine pour revenir ;)

Peu de pression et d'eau chaude dans la douche

Wir hatten einen wunderbarenbund authentisch balinesischen Aufenthalt. Auf unserer Reise war das die beste Unterkunft, die wir hatten - liebevoll und hochwertig eingerichtete lumbung-Häuser, leckeres und lokales Essen und besonders wichtig: ganz wunderbare Hosts! Hier lernt man (wenn man möchte), wie wirklich in Bali gelebt wird. Ari ist mit uns durch den Ort gelaufen, hat uns sein Haus gezeigt und uns wertvolle Tipps und Erklärungen gegeben. Wir sind sehr dankbar, hier so toll empfangen worden zu sein. Ari und Sindi sprechen beide super englisch und wer möchte, kann auch Kochkurse, Workshops und Tages- oder Halbtagesausflüge buchen. Ari weiss sehr viel und erklärt einem alles, was man wissen möchte. Auch Scooter leihen war kein Problem, also keine Angst, dass man ein wenig ländlicher wohnt! Es gibt viel zu sehen und dieser Bereich Balis ist weniger touristisch. Wer Wasserfälle liebt, wird hier mehr als fündig ;)

Es war alles wunderbar! Wir haben absolut nichts auszusetzen!
