Loved the rustic charm, visiting the animals and walking around the roads. Especially liked watching the chickens while on the porch drinking morning coffee. The breakfast was delicious! Fresh made baked buns and croissants, with cheeses, juice, home made berry jam, fresh butter and fresh milk.
Could not find the coffee machine but we brought instant coffee and really good, hot coffee was supplied the second morning.
The rustic cabin was everything I hoped for—cozy, charming, and blissfully free from the constant buzz of technology. Instead of scrolling, we spent our time sitting in the quiet forest, actually talking to each other (remember that?), laughing until our cheeks hurt, and soaking in the kind of peace you forget exists. One of my favourite memories was sitting on the covered porch as the moon climbed over the trees. No traffic, no notifications, no rush—just a spectacular view, fresh air, and hours of swapping stories with friends. It felt like the world had hit the pause button. Then came breakfast... and wow. It instantly took me back to my backpacking days through Europe. Freshly cooked eggs, warm buttery croissants, a beautiful cheese plate, fresh jam, orange juice, and fresh milk—all thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. It wasn't just breakfast; it was part of the experience. Maple Heart Ranch isn't about luxury in the flashy sense—it's about the luxury of slowing down. Of hearing birds instead of ringtones. Of watching the moon instead of Netflix. Of reconnecting with nature, your people, and maybe even yourself. I'll absolutely be back. Next time, I think it'll be a solo trip—a little reset button for the soul.
The only "complaint"? The rooster apparently didn't get the memo that we were on vacation. 🐓😂 He takes his job very seriously! That said, the early morning wake-up call was clearly mentioned before we arrived, so we can't pretend we weren't warned. It honestly just added to the authentic ranch experience and gave us a laugh.
The breakfast was very good. Dinner was an extra provided by the host when we came without having been able to buy food. It was much appreciated.
The signs joking about gun violence are off-putting, especially to Americans who read too much about gun violence. Canada is a much needed escape from gun violence. No reminders are necessary.
Almost magical place in the middle of the woods. The host (Conny) was hospitable and helpful, nice person. Breakfast was very rustic and super delicious. This accommodation exceeded our expectations.
A bit difficult to find this place. On the other hand, this added a scent of adventure to our experience.
We only got to stay one night, but it was a great one! From the deafening silence after the animals have gone to bed, to the ink black skys lit up by a million stars, through to 6am rooster calls, warning off hawks, dogs chasing off bears. Oh, and don't forget the wonderful array of animals (goats, chickens, pigs, ducks, guinea fowl, horses, donkey) and breakfast brought to you...amazing 5 star place. The place is off the beaten track, but has cell service. You drive on a 4km gravel track to the place, it has plenty of potholes on the way and you may wonder where you're off to! It'll take 10 to 15 mins driving slowly, but it's a great adventure just to get there.
We didn't see the bear that the dogs chased off.
Onveilig houten huisje
The coziness of the cabin, the farm animals, the rural location, the peacefulness of being out in nature, sitting on the porch watching the rain come down.
Could have used a fire poker/ wood tong set and / or a fire retardent mitt for the wood fireplace. Only there for two nights so made due. Sofa bed a little springy.
We liked everything, a nice and clean ranch. We were very good and enjoyed it a lot. Very good breakfast.
The only thing we would change is the bathtub a little old and that it had a barbecue grill.
Great. Simple but yummy wholemade buns and eggs.
Fantastic stay with wonderful hosts. The animals on the ranch were certainly the highlight
Absolutely gorgeous off the grid cabin! There is a rain water shower and a few hours of electricity from a generator. Lots of animals including an occasional black bear. What more do you need?
Loved the remote location, very quiet and would’ve been great for stargazing had the weather been better. Breakfast was delicious and so fun to have to delivered right to our door.
This place is a hidden gem.
I really loved everything about this facility. It was close to Victoria, but it was still remote. The proprietor (Conny) was very helpful and friendly. She really made us feel at home. The breakfast was warm and tasty. If you are looking for a relaxing and peaceful off-the-grid option, then this is for you. I honestly wish we could have stayed longer.

Great place away from civilization :D we enjoyed a quiet and simple stay among nature and animals a lot, lovely and kind host, delicious breakfast
Breakfast, host, clean interior, interaction with ranch animals, experience, lots of fun surprises!
IT’s recommended to arrive at the property during daytime. There is no light in the forest and there is a 4 km drive on gravel roads.
Very rustic, pretty countryside. Very peaceful,
Rough road in. - but not property’s fault
Peaceful and quiet, the perfect getaway, excellent breakfast and the absolute loveliest hosts
The shower was a bit inconvenient, we tried but water wasn’t coming through.
Tolle sehr gemütliche und ruhige Unterkunft. Viele Ranch-Tiere (Pferde, Ziegen, Hühner, Schweine usw.). Super Frühstück.
The accommodation was somehow special. Away from civilization on a farm. The daughter showed as the accommodation and also a little bit around the farm. We had our own cottage, which was nice.
Before arriving, I got an email that I have to contact the farm on the phone for getting the code for opening the barrier. When I called the communication was not really polite for whatever reasons. The contact with the daughter was the only personal contact we had. I had almost the impression that we are disturbing. The comfort was limited. The regular bed was OK, but the sofa bed was worn out, so that I had to improvise to support my back. The breakfast, we cannot evaluate because having breakfast at 7 am was not possible (considered as too early), so that we had to skip it.
They have stove and friendly staff.
There were so many ants in the house and even in bed. Those were the largest ants I have ever seen in my life. As a result, we couldn’t risk to sleep on bed and slept in our car all the night.
Like Otho g we’ve ever experienced. Rustic, in the wild, the longest driveway we’ve ever cycled. The goat in pyjamas has quite a personality. Hard-working, mother, and daughter team, supporting over a dozen horses, four giant pigs and chickens absolutely everywhere. The breakfast was amazing. Meeting farm support folks from Europe was fun as well.
If you’re the queasy sort, this is not the place for you. If you were look up, the definition of rustic this cabin would be featured.
Nichts
Wonderful place. You have to rent a Car to come to that place, but it was worth it. It was how it was descripted. Friendly owner and animals, nice breakfast. You can choose the time when she should bring it to you. Next time I would stay longer. There would be a Kitchen too. Watch out, other persons in the comments told that in the direction from victoria to Nanaimo they ate for Dinner in a rest Stop next to the Highway near Malahat with a nice View on the bay, but this Restaurant was closed. So for Dinner you have to search Something Else or you buy Things for cooking By yourself.
Conny was super helpful. The animals come right up to say hello
The ranch was exactly as advertised which I appreciate the most. It is off the electric and water grid but the owner's innovations made up for it. All the animals looked well cared for. Breakfast was delicious and the owner brings it right to your cabin at the time of your choosing.
It's a long drive off the main road and the road needs a lot of work.
Back to basics! Breakfast was delicious. We lucked out with weather and had sunshine and the frogs croaking in the night with some snow in patches still on the ground. Farm animals were all very awesome and interesting. It was neat watching the crows interact with the chickens and ducks. The cabin was every kids dream come true.. super cute! The trail ride was amazing.. so glad we got to go. Host was accommodating and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again.
It’s was cold at first and in the morning. Wood stove heated quickly but wish we brought slippers. Got up earlier than the kids to light the fire. Makes you appreciate what we take for granted at home. To be expected just finishing winter here in BC.
Breakfast was DELICIOUS!!
Amazingly cool and calm place, gives u country side feel. The night is dark and full of stars with such peaceful environment. There are so many animals around that you can see , special mention to Fennigan and Ferguson(dogs) are such gentle giants: cheery on the cake is : breakfast made by Ms Conney. Must highly recommend!
Only feedback would be if hot water supply in kitchen and bathroom this place would be the best!!
Rustic, private, surrounded by forest and animals.
Great place
Great place in a scenic environment, very good breakfast.
Cold water for the shower.
fun place to unwind and get close to nature with family
bathtub could use an update
super nette Gastgeber, tolle Unterkunft
Het ontbijt was okay maar wel weinig.
Het 'pull out' bed was ronduit verschrikkelijk slecht.
Unusual setting, very remote
Oustanding brekfast. Lack of analogies with places asvertised as "real farm experipience "
The sound of power generator.
Orange juice was delicious Only other provision was instant coffee Friendly host Cool rustic feeling ( lamp, wooden things and door knocker Couldn’t find the bathroom light
The gravel road was long and rough We had to get to the airport and it was an hours drive , a little too remote.
