Host Mustapha heeft een unieke plek op een adembenemende, historische lokatie eigenhandig geheel tot in de kleinste details opgebouwd.. Zijn gastvrijheid is onevenaarbaar. Niets is hem te veel. De liefde en bevlogenheid waarmee hij deze unieke plek heeft gecreerd is zeer bewonderenswaardig. Hij is een geanimeerd verteller die graag zijn kennis met je deelt. Mustapha is een inspirerende man die bovendien ook nog heerlijk kan koken. Absolute aanrader.

De lieve en creatieve eigenaar. Knap hoe hij alles heeft opgebouwd! Heel mooi! Een bijzondere onvergetelijke overnachting die ik niet had willen missen. Lekker gegeten.

Moeilijk schoon te houden door alle stoffen en kleedjes. De airco rook onaangenaam. Douche en toilet schoon en keurig!

Très bon accueil

This is a totally fabulous place to stay and you will regret it if you don't come here! Pay a little extra for the family room with two comfortable double beds at either end and an amazing private balcony with views over the oasis. We were made incredibly welcome and served the most delicious very reasonably priced supper in glorious surroundings on the terrace downstairs. We had great fun walking through the old town and the oasis beyond, all of which are on your doorstep. This really was one of the most charming places we have stayed in Morocco and the food was amazing! I thoroughly recommend it.

Excellent accueil par un guide local qui nous a aidés pour porter les valises ( une centaine de mètres). La Kasbah Maktob est très bien située au sein de la Kasbah des Caïds près d une palmeraie. Cadre authentique et très dépaysant. Je recommande la visite de la Kasbah des Caïds et la visite de la palmeraie attenante. Excellent petit déjeuner. A recommander!

My wife and I had a truly wonderful stay at Kasbah Maktob. We have visited the Agdz/Tamnougalt region many times on our way to and from the desert, but this was our first time staying inside the ksar itself. I'm glad we did. Kasbah Maktob is a short walk from the parking area near the square and is well signposted. It’s worth noting that the route includes a few inclines, so it’s best to leave heavier luggage in the vehicle. The kasbah is beautiful throughout, with a traditional, atmospheric character. Hidden corners, Moroccan rugs, and thoughtfully styled interiors give it a very distinctive charm. The rooftop terrace offers outstanding views over the palm grove and surrounding mountains. We stayed in the Family Room with Garden View, which included a private outdoor seating area overlooking the palmeraie. It was a perfect place to relax if you can get this room. It's often booked. Mustapha was an attentive and welcoming host. We had many enjoyable conversations, particularly around our shared appreciation for traditional Moroccan rugs. Breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious, and the evening tagines were excellent all made by Mustapha himself. I would definitely recommend staying here and would no doubt stay again.

Kasbah Maktob Tamnougalt is a real hidden gem. The photos online do not capture how special this place is. It feels like stepping into another time: an authentic traditional kasbah inside an old ksar, with incredible views over the oasis and mountains. Our room was one of the most beautiful rooms we had in Morocco. We strongly recommend booking the Family Room with Garden View if available. The view from the window was unforgettable — the oasis, the mountains and the changing light were so beautiful that we took dozens of photos just from the room itself. It was honestly hard to leave. The owner was warm, relaxed and genuinely welcoming. He met us at the parking area and showed us the way. One practical note: the walk from the parking to the kasbah takes around 7–10 minutes on an uneven path, so it is best to take everything you need from the car at once, especially before dark. This may also be difficult for people with mobility issues. The kasbah itself feels authentic rather than staged. After visiting Kasbah Amridil, we could recognize many traditional architectural elements here, which made the stay even more meaningful. The food was also very tasty, and the whole place had a quiet, cinematic atmosphere. There is no pool, but about 15 minutes away by car is Cascade of Tizgui. The waterfall is modest, but if you walk deeper into the canyon behind the restaurant, you can find beautifully clean and refreshing water. Wading through the river there became one of our best spontaneous experiences in Morocco. After Marrakech, the desert and Todra Gorge, we thought nothing would surprise us anymore — but Kasbah Maktob did. A beautiful, peaceful and unforgettable place. 10/10.

Das Kashba war mitten in dem alten Viertel und eines der wenigen schon restaurierten Kashbas. Toller Blick von der frühstücksterasse auf den Palmengarten. Der Besitzer Mustafa hat das Kashba selbst restauriert und liebevoll eingerichtet. Vom Dach aus hat man einen tollen Blick auf die alten Häuser. Am Abend gab es leckere Tajine - eine der besten auf unserer Reise.

Kasbah pleine de charme au coeur du ksar, à deux pas de la palmeraie. La vue depuis le balcon de la chambre familiale est sublime au coucher du soleil. Nous avons aimé la décoration avec des objets anciens. Une fois garé sur la place centrale du village, les indications sont très claires pour trouver l'hébergement. Un moment inoubliable : notre hôte est aux petits soins, son tajine copieux et délicieux. On passerait des heures à échanger avec lui.

Séjourner chez Mustafa a été une expérience incroyable ... Nous avons été accueilli avec une grande gentillesse et beaucoup de générosité. Nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous ... Les repas ont été excellents et notamment le tajine : le meilleur de notre voyage. Nous n'avions jamais vu notre fils manger autant ! La maison et la chambre sont magnifiques avec une vue splendide sur la palmeraie ... c'est un cadre vraiment incroyable ... un des plus beaux endroits de notre voyage. Le lieu est incroyable, de loin le plus joliment décoré de notre voyage. Moustapha est d’une gentillesse exceptionnelle, il nous a fait découvrir sa culture, sa musique et sa cuisine. Nous avons très bien mangé, merci encore.

Esperienza incredibile in un'antica kasbah restaurata. Mustafa, il proprietario, ha reso la nostra esperienza indimenticabile nell'antica ksar di Tamnougalt, anticamente capitale della regione del Draa. Entrando nella struttura sembra di ritornare indietro nel tempo, con tappeti magnifici che adornano ogni pavimento e parete, oggetti tradizionali ma anche servizi di prima qualità, a partire dal bagno. Io e la mia ragazza abbiamo potuto cenare e fare colazione nella terrazza panoramica che dà sul palmeto, due momenti che sicuramente ricorderemo a lungo. un grazie speciale a Mustafa per averci ospitato nel suo piccolo paradiso

Avendo una macchina di grandi dimensioni, l'accesso al parcheggio dentro la ksar è stato un po problematico.

Perfect, cozy (!) Kasbah in Tamnougalt. We stayed with our two children in the family room with an amazing big balcony/roof terrace and our own private bathroom. The host was very kind and made us a tasty, very affordable dinner. The surroundings are lovely and super quiet with great views over the gardens, the old village and mountains. It really feels removed from the more touristy destinations, great for a day or two of relaxation! Two tips: take everything you might need (cash, water,snacks, etc) with you, as the old village doesn't have any stores or facilities and make sure to take a tour through the old Kasbah. Very interesting history and kind guides!

De hartelijke en gemeende vriendelijkheid van Mustapha, die er alles aan doet om het je naar je zin te maken. De authentieke en met veel smaak ingerichte kasbah. De gezellige zithoeken. Het nette sanitair en de gezellige kamer.

Om Maktob te bereiken vanop de parking: laat je niet afschrikken door de stoffige tocht doorheen het vervallen lemen dorp. Kasbah Maktob ontvangt je met open armen.

Wir können die guten Bewertungen anderer Reisenden vollumfänglich bestätigen: einmalige Lage, ein äußerst sympathischer Gastgeber, super leckeres Essen! Das Haus ist gespickt mit Kunstgegenständen und strahlt eine besondere Atmosphäre. Wegen der Entfernung zum Parkplatz empfiehlt es sich, das meiste Gepäck im Auto zu lassen und nur mit dem Nötigsten einzuchecken. Der Sonnenaufgang und Sonnenuntergang von der Dachterrasse ist fantastisch und ein Spaziergang durch die Oase magisch! Eine absolut empfehlenswerte Erfahrung.

Moment particulier dans cette magnifique kasbah, c’est une expérience à vivre, de plus l’hôte est très agréable et sympathique . La vue est très belle , la nourriture très bonne, la décoration digne d’un conte des milles et une nuit, je recommande !

Pas vraiment un point négatif mais juste à savoir : il faut effectivement faire environ 3-4min de marche dans un village en ruine afin d’accéder à la kasbah, mais ça fait également partie du charme!

Mustapha nous a accueilli très chaleureusement dans son petit paradis : la vue splendide sur la palmeraie, le chant des oiseaux, les chambres décorées avec soin et ses œuvres de sculpteur, le calme sur la terrasse, le tajine délicieux, le petit concert berbère et le petit déjeuner parfait! Magnifique Kasbah bien entretenue dans un Ksar labyrinthique et magnifique, au sein d'une palmeraie calme et tout autant magnifique. Le cadre est pittoresque, on reçoit des consignes pour se garer puis rejoindre le lien à pied dans le Ksar. Mustafa nous a très bien accueilli et les repas (dîner et petits déjeuners) étaient excellents et copieux.

The most authentic experience in Morroco! Mustafa is very friendly. We had good conversations over tea. It was a treat watching the sunset from the balcony, walking in the fields and just winding down and soaking in the experience of the kasbah.

Kasbah Maktob is a very special place - I would recommend it to anyone. I stayed for three nights. The building itself is beautiful. It is a historical building which has been very nicely done up by the owner, Mustafa. It is situated within the ruins of a centuries-old town, which felt very exciting. You are free to explore the surrounding town and palm groves, which the Kasbah overlooks. I spent a whole day wandering through the palm groves, and walking down to the Draa riverbed (which is presently dry). The following day, Mustafa kindly organised for me to have a private, guided tour of the nearby Kasbah by a man named Abdul. Abdul was incredibly kind and informative, and we were able to converse in English. I would recommend this tour if you are staying here. The interior of the Kasbah was incredibly beautiful. It was decorated in traditional style, but had all necessary modern amenities, such as air conditioning. I stayed on the family room. This was a lovely, big room, which a large, private terrace. The terrace overlooked the palm grove, and was very comfortable. There are also two other large terraces, which are open to all guests, including a roof terrace. The food (predominantly tagines) was lovely. It was freshly cooked, sizeable, and very tasty. Breakfast, which was included in the cost of the booking, was large and very tasty. Mustafa, the owner, is absolutely lovely. He has a very warm and kind personality, and he was very helpful. For example, he kindly allowed me to use his personal phone to try to call someone I was due to be meeting later in my trip, and he then continued to try to reach them throughout the day. He also spoke good English. The Kasbah was easy to get to from the nearby town of Agdz / Agdez. I simply paid for a collective taxi from the main taxi rank in Agdz, and the drive was about 15 minutes. It is then a two minute walk through the old town to reach the Kasbah. I recommend a stay at the Kasbah to anyone.

Such a great experience sleeping in a Kasbah. Decor, location and food were simply one of the best experience I ever had! The cherry on the cake was the two guys hosting us, kind and smiling. Thank you for the hospitality. Highly recommended

The most pleasant surprise of our 14 days in Morocco. I must highlight the friendly atmosphere and excellent service from the very first moment. The whole village breathes history, and there is plenty to see — whether it's the surrounding kasbahs or the date palm oasis, which is definitely worth exploring. Great dinner, breakfast, and traditional tea. In the end, we were sad we could spend only one night here and not longer.

L'emplacement dans la palmeraie. L'habitation est simple et traditionnelle. Grande salle de bain attenante à la chambre. Bon repas le soir dans une bonne ambiance.

L'accès de la maison est un peu compliquée dans la kasbah. Impossible d'y accéder en voiture mais on a eu de l'aide pour porter les bagages. Le lit était très dur !

La situation est unique. Plongé dans la palmeraie au bout de petites ruelles en terre. Un vrai voyage dans le temps. L'accueil est très sympa et le tajine du soir un régal.

Le trajet avec de grosses valises n'est pas très aisé mais notre hote nous a gentiment aidé

L’extrême gentillesse de notre hôte . Sa maison très bien restaurée avec Amour et bon goût. L’excellent repas du soir ! notre chambre « la familiale «  avec terrasse privative donnant sur la palmeraie ! Nous reviendrons ❤️

Forse anche per il contrasto con il villaggio semidiroccato in pisè che la circonda, la Kasbah, perfettamente ma rispettosamente restaurata, risulta piena di fascino e molto comfortevole. Ottima l'accoglienza all'arrivo o per qualsiasi necessità. Stanze spaziose e accoglienti, arredi in parte originali, vista spettacolare sulle montagne, sul grande palmeto e sui villaggi circostanti, purtroppo anch'essi in via di dissoluzione. Tenete presente che almeno per alcune stanze i bagni sono in comune, ma in ottimo stato e pulizia. Basta uscire per trovarsi a passeggiare tra le rovine o nelle stradine del palmeto fino al fiume Draa. Da sapere che tra il parcheggio e la Kasbah bisogna trasportare i bagagli per circa 200 metri, ma in caso di necessità il personale è pronto a dare una mano, quindi nessun problema. La posizione è ottimale, a brevissima distanza dalla strada RN9 Agdz-Zagora, ma in posizione molto più affascinante. Per noi poi, ottimale per prendere la bellissima pista che scavalla il Jbel Saghro fino a Bou Skour e Skoura.

Magnifique endroit hors du temps, au cœur du Ksar de Tamnougalt, géré par Mustapha dont la gentillesse n'a d'égal que ses talents de cuisinier. Ne réfléchissez plus, si vous devez loger dans la région, c'est là qu'il faut aller! Vue sur la superbe palmeraie depuis la terrasse. Parking à 100 mètre, calme absolu. Nous conseillons fortement la visite du Ksar avec un guide afin de s'imprégner de l'histoire et des traditions de cet incroyable endroit.

after having 10 different hotels in morocco, we can say that this was our absolute favourite one. Very friendly staff, stunning view from the rooftop, especially at sunset. Great breakfast. Accomodation itself is very pretty and well furnished. 100% would reccommend.

Absolutely loved staying here and the best place we have stayed in Morocco. The views are amazing, the decor and ambience in the Kasbah is so beautiful and every effort has gone into making guests enjoy their stay. Comfortable, clean room with wonderful decor and a fantastic balcony with views over the Date Palm trees. The bathroom was modern and very clean. Such a unique experience and don't be put off by the walk through the ruins to get to the Kasbah, it is worth the walk! Dinner and breakfast were also fantastic and our host made us feel so very welcome. Peaceful and quiet. Highly recommend and only wished we could have stayed longer but we would certainly come and stay here again.

Kasbah zbiera wspaniale opinie i jest to całkowicie zasłużone. Trudno dodać coś nowego. Miejsce jest baśniowe, urządzone ze smakiem, a nawet z miłością. Gospodarz budzi wielki szacunek za stworzenie rakiej atmosfery, do tego serwuje wspaniałe posiłki z wielką elegancją i prostotą zarazem. W tym miejscu warto spędzić więcej dni, my niestety byłyśmy córką tylko przejazdem

L’accueil de Mustafa, la situation géographique exceptionnelle, le charme incroyable du lieu, la nourriture délicieuse.

Meilleure chambre qu’on ait eu de tout notre séjour. En arrivant on se sent un peu perdu car il faut traverser une grande partie de cet ancien village laissé à l’abandon et où très peu de gens y vivent. Quelle belle surprise en entrant dans cette maison, très bien agencé et décorée avec goût. La vue sur la palmeraie de la terrasse et du toit est magique. Très bon accueil de notre hôte. Je conseille également le repas du soir.

Nichée au cœur des ruelles de l'ancienne ville forte de Tamnougalt, la Kasbah Maktob est un lieu magique. Les chambres sont confortables, propres, les repas succulents, la vue sur la palmeraie... époustouflante. Nous reviendrons c'est certain.

Cette Kasbah dispose d’une vue imprenable sur la palmeraie depuis les balcons de la chambre et absolument exceptionnelle depuis le toit terrasse. Le lever du soleil depuis la terrasse est d’une beauté inouïe !!! L’intérieur de la kasbah en Pisé est d’une authenticité rare et décorée avec beaucoup de goût. L’hôte est très accueillant. Nous y avons passé sans aucun doute la meilleure nuit de tout notre séjour au Maroc !!! C’est un véritable joyau !

Prévoir de laisser la voiture sur parking gratuit à quelques minutes à pied de la Kasbah.

Se volete provare il Marocco autentico, è qui. L'host ha ristrutturato questo antico edificio (situato in un borgo altrettanto antico e affascinante) mantenendo le qualità originali e garantendo nello stesso tempo un comfort senza compromessi. Completa il quadro la deliziosa tagine per cena e una delle migliori colazioni mai provare. Grazie!

Amazing spot, Mustafa is a great host, caring and kind. The food is delicious and the history of the object exceptional. Highly recommended! We stayed 2 nights and did not regret it.

Nous avons apprécié l’authenticité, la vue et la personnalité de Moustafa. L’emplacement est à couper le souffle et le petit déjeuner excellent. Nous recommandons vivement pour ceux qui aiment les expériences riches en histoire.

Le matelas pourrait être moins dur. Attention pour les personnes peu mobiles car l’accès se fait par des ruelles peu évidentes.

Amazing house with an authentic atmosphere. The property is an old kasbah beautifully refurbished by the owner. It was incredibly quiet, with a stunning view from the terrace over the mountains and the oasis. The location is truly special—right inside the oasis, surrounded by palm trees, with palm groves and a magical sunrise visible from a small window in the room. The surroundings are full of old kasbahs and ruins that you can freely explore, giving the whole area a true lost place feeling. Everything felt authentic and thoughtfully made, from the design to the decorations. The owner was exceptionally kind and even cooked for us; we had the best tagine of our entire trip in Morocco. An unforgettable experience.

La pace assoluta. La bellezza. La cura di ogni dettaglio con cui Moustapha ha rimesso in piedi un edificio di questo fenomenale ksar. Un esempio. Il lavello del bagno è un bellissimo piatto marocchino bucato per il passaggio dell'acqua lì dove finisce il giro del disegno dipinto. Davvero non c'è angolo in cui non vibri amore. Peraltro sempre lui, Moustapha, lavorava nella ristorazione. E' un cuoco eccellente. Ho mangiato una tajine di verdure sublime. Non so. Davvero non ci sono parole. E quasi non vorrei dirne per tenerlo tutto per me, questo luogo dell'anima.

Un établissement dans la tradition Marocaine. Magnifique et très confortable. Notre hote d'une très grande gentillesse et toujours au petit soin. A ne pas manquer.

O caminho até o kasbah causou uma sensação estranha no começo. Você entra no meio do que parece uma antiga cidade em ruínas, um ksar quase abandonado, mas tudo isso mudou completamente assim que entramos no Kasbah Maktob e tivemos o primeiro contato com Mustafa. Sem exagero algum, a energia dele é algo absolutamente especial. Antes mesmo de qualquer conversa, foi como se o ambiente inteiro tivesse mudado. Instantaneamente nos sentimos tranquilos, seguros, protegidos, em paz. Existe algo na presença dele que inspira calma, acolhimento e uma sensação profunda de estar bem-vindo. Foi inspirador, mesmo sem interação profunda naquele primeiro momento. Deixamos nossas coisas com a intenção de sair novamente, conhecer outros lugares próximos e seguir para Agdz. Mas a verdade é que nos sentimos tão bem, tão acolhidos e em paz naquele espaço, que simplesmente perdemos qualquer vontade de sair. A paz que sentimos ali era tão bonita que não fazia sentido ir embora. Não estávamos fazendo absolutamente nada de especial ali dentro, mas nos sentíamos incrivelmente bem. Acolhidos, tranquilos, em paz. Uma sensação tão boa que dava vontade de ficar ali para sempre. Acabamos só saindo do kasbah na manhã seguinte. Nós já tínhamos passado por Marrakech, cruzado as montanhas, visto neve, ido ao deserto. Tivemos experiências visualmente impressionantes. Ainda assim, um dos lugares mais especiais de toda a viagem foi esse, onde aparentemente “não havia nada demais”. O que tornou esse lugar inesquecível foi a energia de Mustafa. Além de tudo isso, o kasbah é muito limpo, organizado e confortável, com uma vista linda para um palmeiral e também para as ruínas da antiga cidade. O café da manhã no dia seguinte foi igualmente delicioso. Uma semana depois de termos passado por ali, essa estadia ainda me inspira. De alguma forma, Mustafa me inspirou ser uma pessoa mais calma, com uma energia melhor e mais consciente ao meu redor. E isso, para mim, é algo raríssimo de se encontrar.

Most authentic Moroccan experience by far. Like going back in time but with all the modern luxuries. Host was very welcoming and made us the best Moroccan food in our 2 week trip. Don’t doubt , book it now. You will remember it forever!

Merveilleux! En immersion dans une kasbah du XVIie au milieu d un village en ruines.. On se retrouve dans un autre temps... et Mustafa est d une grande gentillesse ! Dîner, nuit étoilée observée sur le toit, pdj , tout était super.. LE plus pittoresque des logis que j ai dit au Maroc de tous mes séjours ds ce beau pays..

Be aware that the kasbah is a short walk from the parking. It is one of the few standing kasbah in a czar that is mostly in ruin. One you get there though you will be taken by the magic of the place, the kindness of the host and the beautiful view of the gardens below. Walk around and visit the village. All worth it!

This is the most amazing place!! Do yourself a favour and book here! We were blown away by it. The most welcoming and friendly owner, Mustafa, has painstakingly restored an ancient mud building and decorated it so well you feel like you are stepping back in time! We were just mesmerised. Dinner and breakfast were also the best we had in Morocco and they are taken on the most delightful terrace overlooking the palmery. The roof terrace was wonderful too! Mustafa met us in the car park to guide us to the Kasbah, where you literally walk through ruins to get to his amazing place. Kasbah des Caids was so quiet and peaceful to explore and a 2 minute walk from Kasbah Maktob. I would recommend a guide to make the most of it. We were so sad to only be staying for one night and will be making a point of staying for 2/3 when we return to Morocco one day.

Staying at Kasbah Maktob was a truly unforgettable experience. This beautiful guesthouse is an old kasbah that the owner, Mustafa, has patiently restored by himself over the years, and you can feel his passion and care in every detail. The road to the kasbah is a little tricky, and the last 200 meters need to be walked, but villagers kindly showed us the way and Mustafa came to meet us at the parking area, so we had no trouble arriving. Surrounded by palm trees in a peaceful oasis, the kasbah feels like stepping back in time. The rooms are thoughtfully decorated with great attention to detail, preserving the authentic atmosphere of the original building. Our room on the top floor even had a private terrace with a sofa, offering lovely views over the palm grove and surrounding buildings. Dinner is available for an extra fee (10 euros), and it is absolutely worth it. Mustafa prepares a delicious homemade tajine using local ingredients, served on a covered terrace where you can fully enjoy the silence and atmosphere of the place. Breakfast was also generous, varied, and very tasty. We stayed in December, when mornings and evenings were a bit cold, but the room was equipped with a modern air-conditioning unit, so we slept warmly and comfortably. Also the mattress was pleasantly firm. Mustafa is a wonderful host—always quick to reply to questions before arrival and quietly attentive during our stay. He also shared many interesting stories about the kasbah and the village during meals. Getting there requires a bit of effort, but this unique kasbah stay is truly worth it and highly recommended.
