Chandrasena was a really great host, he taught us so much about Sri Lanka and all the growing fruits and vegetables in his beautiful garden. Also his English and German is very good. It was a really lovely stay and we would 100% recommend!

Beautiful old house converted into an hotel, felt like being in the jungle surrounded by many fruit trees, coconut palms and many other plants. Lots of birds and squirrels to watch while sitting outside. Great place to stay for couples looking for a budget friendly place, close to pinnewala,Kandy, Dambulla. The owner is always on hand for taking care of your needs, and is a great conversationalist. He can arrange what ever you need.

It would be nice to see more maintenance but I fully understand that it's a one man show,so all considered,it was fine.

I had a very good experience staying here with my family. The place is spacious, clean, and the room was very well equipped. At first, I had booked a different room, but the owner kindly changed it to a room with three beds to better suit my family. We really appreciated his help and kindness. The hospitality was excellent — he was very welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help. In the morning, he also gave us useful advice about places around the area, which was very helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, and I would be happy to come back again in the future. Thank you for everything!

I initially booked the room for one night but ended up spending three nights. The room was good, though the Wi-Fi was not working, and the manager said he would get it working once the holidays were over. I had to ask for a kettle, which was readily provided. The manager suggested the places I could visit. I had ridden on a bike, and I had no problems storing the bike securely. I had a lovely breakfast along with a cup of coffee.

Though a kettle was provided after requesting, a few tea or coffee bags kept in the room with the kettle would have been helpful

We had a wonderful stay at The Golden Residence – Kegalle. The place is very comfortable and well-maintained, and what truly made our experience special was the hospitality. Mr. Chandra, the manager, was extremely helpful, supportive, and friendly throughout our stay. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome and ensure that we had everything we needed. We even stayed longer than our scheduled check-out time, but Mr. Chandra very kindly did not charge us for the extra time. This generous gesture shows the genuine care and professionalism with which he manages this place. Overall, we highly recommend The Golden Residence for anyone visiting Kegalle. With such warm hospitality and excellent service, it truly feels like a home away from home.

Ontzettend aardige gastheer. Kregen een drankje bij aankomst, en ook bij vertrek. Bed is comfortabel en locatie is goed. Ook een hele goeie prijs kwaliteit verhouding.

It’s not good that the manager asked ever time when is your checkout time? The check in checkout time 10AM is not normal.usually 12 /11Am..if he wants to clean his 4 room its his duty.its not acceptable 10am,he said he would charge one day if its after 10Am.

Właściciel obiektu jest cudowną osobą, świetnie się nami zajął. Zrobił nam wycieczkę w swoim ogrodzie, poczęstował domowym napojem, rano zrobił nam herbatkę. Zaoferował nam pomóc z wycieczką oraz pomógł z transportem. Pokój bardzo czysty i zadbany z dostępnym wiatrakiem oraz ciepłą wodą pod prysznicem. Bardzo dobre warunki. Bardzo miło spędziłyśmy tam czas i właściciel prowadził z nami Bardzo miłe rozmowy i dużo nam poopowiadał. Zdecydowanie poleciłabym obiekt. Świetny stosunek jakości do ceny

The host was brilliant!!! Greeting us straight away showing us how everything works, telling us what to do around the hotel. Even showing us around his garden and letting us have some! Definitely a great stop heading to kandy

The house was lovely with beautiful wooden furniture. The room was big with a comfortable bed and hot shower in a nice bathroom. Chandra was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble he provided us with a kettle and cups for our room as well as other kind gestures ( Sri Lankan breakfast one morning). On arrival we were given homemade starfruit juice and showed us around his lovely garden full of fruit trees and herbs.. He organised a car for our visit to the Elephant Orphanage. Chandra is special and we highly recommend The Golden Residence.

Highly recommended. The rooms and common areas are enormous by usual standards, and very comfortable. Super attentive host offered a range of fresh juices from the garden, and delicious top-shelf fruit selection as well as loads of tips and suggestions for local attractions. Very effective AC. The room was mosquito free but also well netted on an enormous four-poster bed. If driving note that the turn comes up suddenly as you come around the corner and would be easy to miss the first time.

An all round fantastic stay from start to finish! The room was nice and airy with a big comfortable bed, and the shady veranda was perfect for chilling through the heat of the day. The host is a lovely gentleman who showed us round his garden to show us the trees he gets the fruits for the free fresh juice he gives.

We had an amazing 5-night stay at this wonderful place! The owner was incredibly friendly, generous, and made us feel right at home. The people in the reception were very helpful, not just on check in and checkout, but also in giving directions to spots. The location is great- very near to Kegalle Town . Beautiful place with nice garden, unfortunately I could book only one night close to Railway station to get my train to Trinco, but definitely next time I would like to stay for longer time. Room was very nice and pretty clean, everything like in the hotel. Vinayaka was nice guy who was always smiling and helpful even if I arrived late evening and left early morning, so he couldn''t sleepat all... He helped me to get bus and prepared hot Tea And gift fór goodbye, Some people and places have its own magic, that also short moment stay in your memory box for ever... I can only recommend.

The perfect pit stop. We are an English family, children 18 16 14. We stayed one night to break our journey back to Colombo airport. The hosting was exceptional . A very spacious and well maintained house. Very well looked after - nothing too much. Delicious fruit from the garden. Very clean, comfortable and large rooms.

Chandra was an amazing host. We arrived quite late and he made sure he was still there to great us. The room was lovely and spacious and we were treated to some wonderful fruit in the morning from the garden, which he was kind enough to guide us around in the morning

Stayed only for two nights, arrived some what late in the evening, The room was very clean, A/C was good, the breakfast was good as well. The owner was very helpful, and friendly. He arranged a vehicle for us to get to the wedding in the morning free of charge. There are a few eating places nearby though we did not have to use them.

reviews are always subjective, hence this is just my view. As someone who likes to have a cup of tea in odd hours :), I wish there was kettle available to get hot water, at least in the common area. The owner was helpful in bringing hot water when asked for but at times, I get up quite early, and would like to have a cup of tea. Did not want to call the owner that early get hot water. So, availability of a kettle would solve this issue. Also, the water pressure, was low to my liking.

We decided to stop in at the Golden Residence to break up our trip to Kandy. The owner was great and very accomodating. Our rooms were very large and spotless and the tour of the hotel gardens was fun. We had to leave early and the had a huge and tasty breakfast spread ready to go for us. Best value and cleanest rooms we have had to date in Sri Lanka!!

The bedroom was so beautiful, the comfiest bed, and the out door space was perfect for yoga in the morning. The owner has a garden full of fruits and herbs, he gave us a greta tour of the property. The breakfast was one of the best we have had in Sri Lanka. The owner also has a great shop, I bought a pair of super comfortable trousers, it was an unforgettable stay.

The house is very clean, very big room with a huge and comfortable bed, big bathroom and all you need (soap, toilet paper, towel, purified water). The location is perfect to go to the elephants orphanage, easy reaching them with the local bus/tuk tuk. The gardens is very beautiful, with lots of plants. The owner offered tea and bananas as a welcoming treat and a garden tour (giving me some fruits too), all for free. The owner is a very respectful, honest and gentile person. The best place I've been in Sri Lanka to be honest. The price is too low for all the benefits the owner is offering. Great accomodation, quiet, cheap and very comfortable. A plus is the hot water and the possibility to have breakfast there (the best garden flower omlette).

Nice accommodation, with a kind German-speaking host. He showed us the plants of his garden and also gave us a bag of fresh star fruits from the garden as snacks when we left.

There was no proper wifi, but the host set it up for us. Yet, the connection was okayish.

We loved our stay with Chandara. He is an excellent host and the house is amazing. It is everything you might expect from a South Asian house, with lots of comfortable, classic and classy wooden furniture throughout. Our bed was a magnificent 4 poster complete with anti mosquito net. The breakfast was different but good, involving lots of new flavours to us. Best of all Chandara organised and accompanied us on an excursion to the Elephant Orphange and another place nearby where my son was able to ride an elephant in a humane fashion and then onto a tea factory where an immaculately attired, beautiful hostess, talked us through the tea making process. All in all, a fabulous day to remember.

April is pretty warm and humid if you are from a cool climate. It is not the host’s fault, but try to avoid the muggy period unless you are acclimatised. Chandara also speaks quite a bit of German in addition to English. Gut zu wissen! The house is at Km marker 12.1 on the A19 road, about 3 km from the centre of Kegalle. Tell that to the tuk tuk driver.

Probably the best stay we have ever had after two years of travelling. The host, Mr Chandrasena was really gracious and kind, even treating us to his own birthday party with a small gathering of friends held on the day of our stay. We had lot of fun. The room was spacious, nice and very clean, with really clean and fresh bedding and sheets. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The value for money was absolutely fantastic as well, this is THE place to stay in Kegalle, or if you are on your way to Pinnawala or Greenacres.

Great location and wonderful home stay. The residence is large and comfortable. The owner is very nice and informed about the area. I souls highly recommend.

Room and the bathroom is nice, clean and spacious. Not far from Kegalle, can even access from the main road by foot. Good and friendly customer service.They even provided a lift to the Kegalle bustand.
