My stay was very comfortable. It's a very nice place and the owner Monjit is so friendly. Communication was great and their kitchen makes great food. Any wishes I had were fullfilled. :)

There is nothing I did not like about my stay.

1) The owner is always smiling and happy to help the guests. We reached their about 2 Hr before our Check In time, but he still accommodated us nicely. 2) He easily arranges bicycles or two-wheelers for the guests. We loved the bicycle tour that he guided on the first day of our trip. 3) He has drawn maps of the local interesting places and helps the guests by telling their significance. 4) The in-house restaurant is definitely welcome. 5) After Check Out they even dropped us at the taxi stand which was a nice gesture.

Risong Family Guest House was a wonderful place to stay. The owner and staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable throughout our visit. The surrounding area has fascinating local villages that were perfect to explore by bike, offering us a taste of the friendliest culture. There is an abundance of birdlife and wildlife, which added to the peaceful, natural atmosphere. The food was very good.

Rising guest house is a bamboo house - which is a treat to stay in with the emphasis of all the cement concrete based construction going in :-(.

What a wonderful place to stay! The owner Monjit is super friendly and hospitable. Friendly staff. Great food. Basic facilities, towels provided. You can rent a bike (150 INR) to explore the surrounding villages and satra's. The guesthouse is a 10min walk from the Garmur market place.

The traditional rooms are noisy so bring earplugs if you're sensitive to noise.

Risong Family Guest House is a unique venue with an unforgettable local atmosphere. The hosts support you with any kind of advice you might need. Excellent food is an additional benefit of staying at this place. Highly recommended as a starting point for exploring the treasures of Majuli!

A quieter location with very friendly helpful owner and staff. Great advice and organising a local guide Parag who introduced and gave so much background story to some of the sites, history and local people of Majuli, recommended Only had two nights out of main season but here and Majuli would be great have some more time to stay in November when local festival is on Great value for money

The owner of the resort was very welcoming. He frequently asked us about our needs.

The place is within 10 min walking distance from where the shared tuk tuk leaves you (coming from the ferry ghat). It is on a side nature alley but it is close to the main road and market and to the Garamur Satra (3 min). The rooms are ecologically built with bamboo and clay and they have a nice terrace area in front of each room. The place also has a restaurant on site and has a really good rice beer. Hot water is on request with a bucket. The best part is the owner - He is very nice, positive, knowledgeable and helpful and will make sure you have the best of your time on the island. Whatever you wish for he will make sure you get it. He helps you with everything: from suggestions and maps of where to go, to transportation (renting bycicles or tuk tuk), organizing to see a donyi polo ceremony, staying at a satra, dropping you off with a scooter at some nearby places. And everything with a big smile! Highly recommend this place!

I’ve stayed in many guest houses and hostels while traveling in India, but Risong Family Guest House is by far the best experience I’ve had. The room is perfectly equipped, with a private bathroom, a big comfy bed, and it’s dark and cool—ideal for resting! You even get a private terrace with a bamboo couch to relax and read. It’s beautiful! The food is amazing—they cook all kinds of meals at the Risong restaurant. The staff is very friendly, and the service is excellent. Montjit, the host of Risong, is incredibly welcoming and genuinely wants you to have the best experience possible. He gave me great tips for visiting Majuli, including bike treks, Satras to see, and more. He even helped me organize my bus back to Dibrugarh. Without him, it would have been really difficult! Thank you, Montjit and all the staff—I had a wonderful stay at your homestay :) :)

The room was unique in the sense it was a traditional bamboo type structure with an interesting story behind it.

My stay couldn't have been better. Everything was perfect, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the exceptional hospitality of my host, Monjid.

Value for money, neat and clean. Simple but traditional. The eco system keeps the place quite cool. Amazing stuff. All natural materials used for construction. Simple but well kept. Owner is amazing always there to support.

They use bottle water. Considering environment we should have RO facilities if possible for water in hotels and in Majuli. The number of bottles that I used in 5 days is equal to the number of water bottles I used in 2025 whole year. Felt pain.

If you are in Majuli and looking for a pleasant and budget stay experience then the Risong family guest house is one of the best options. The guest house is located near Garamur Circle and the journey to reach here from Dakhinpat Ghat is very tiring. The guest house is fully made up of wooden structures and you will get the vibe of the Machan houses. Mr Risong who is the owner of this guest house is a very kind and humble personality who helped me in figuring out my itinerary. The stay was pleasant and budget-friendly and I spent my two nights very peacefully, the only problem one could face was mosquitoes, so carrying mosquito repellents can be useful. The location is very peaceful and I wish to visit this beautiful place on Earth once again.

Verry welcoming périple and amazing restarant

The property felt like home away from home. The Bamboo cottages gave an experience of living in a mising village and the staff overall were too helpful and kind. Monjit Bhaiya is really hardworking and takes efforts in explaining about every corner of Majuli.

Everything! the atmosphere of the place is great - authentic bamboo house in a great location in Garamur town. The host is the nicest person alive, always smiling and happy to give great advice about what to see in Majuli. The place has an amazing restaurant with the best food in Majuli, also can be served at the terrace at the room entrance. Very budget friendly, great for backpackers who would like to see authentic stuff around! The staff is kind and everything was arranged for us and thought of. I Highly recommend to stay there!

we had a great time at the homestay. the host is very friendly and helpful. We rented bicycles and saw a lot of life on Majuli. thanks for the hospitality. We also made a delicious meal on the fire pit.

If you are travelling to Majuli, Risong guest houses hands down the best place to stay. It is near the city centre, where you can access, rickshaws, cafes, rental shops. yet the location is quite and cosy. Manjeet is such a warm host, he will make sure you make the best of this trip by his vaste knowledge of the area.

Undoubtedly it is one of the Best Guest house of Majuli with excellent location. Rooms are beautifully furnished, neat and hygienic washrooms, lovely ambience with ethnic feel, good food and service, well behaved staff and a friendly owner. Also a budget friendly stay. Highly recommended for anyone coming to Majuli for the best experience as a family, friends or even as couples.

The Host was very jovial and cordial. They accommodated our needs. The vibe of the place is really nice and gels well with the natural surrounding, while still giving enough comfort. The stay is very balanced.

The food was standard. Not bad. The problem was the delay in serving the food. The kitchen is severely under staffed for the number of people that this place hosts. The cycles that were available for rent were in very bad condition. All 4 members who rented bikes had real tough time. Please upgrade the bikes and maintain them.

He knows Majuli. Like a human history book. The stay is quite comfortable - gives you the raw homestay experience. Food is exceptionally yummy. Everything you want will be taken care of, blindly book it.

The guesthouse is ideal for exploring Majuli. The owner is very helpful and interesting to talk to about the island's cultures and places to visit. It's a good spot for relaxing and there's a raised porch to sit in during the day. The restaurant is well run and the food was good and suitably priced. We used the laundry service which worked well.

Some of the bikes were quite old but there's another bike hire place nearby.

The main person (I think Mr. Mondir) running the property is an extremely friendly man, very helpful and always there to answer any questions for the guests.The property in general is very clean. The ambiance is so calming and peaceful.

The particular room we stayed in didn’t have running hot water facility, or geyser. But I was provided with hot water in a bucket for bath which did the job. But Majuli at this time of year is really cold. So no geysers may not be an issue during summer time but in winter hot water is a necessity. My friend didn’t take a shower during the stay as we didn’t want to bother the staff a lot

It's a combination of 3 properties...ENCHANTING MAJULI, which is a proper hotel, RISONG, which are cabins made in ethnic style, and a couple of cottages. Located centrally with ease of access. The rooms are cosy and comfortable with available modern facilities while sticking to the ethnic style. The locality is very green and relaxing, specially for people from concrete jungles. Special mention to the host Mr. Monjit who goes out of the way to make sure the stay is comfortable...a very warm and jovial host with always a smile on his face. He was always at hand to help out. We requested for a two wheeler to go around which he promptly arranged. Definitely the place to stay while visiting Majuli.

More of observations rather than dislikes... 1. Maybe arrange for a central water heating system. 2. Also please make sure to top up the soap dispensers. 3. A floor mat near the bathroom would be nice.

The place is awesome. It's a unique stay with all bamboo hut and very comfortable. The host monjit da is amazing . If in majuli the first preference should be this one .

The owner is so easy going and all the staff is very helpful. The place itself is heavenly, like a little cocoon to have rest. Everything is clean and neat and all the surroundings are quiet.

This was one of the best stay experience for me. The host, Monjit, was an amazing and a happy person. He helped me with my itinerary for my trip to Majuli and provided a lot of cultural information about Majuli and nearby places.

The host was incredibly kind and helpful, providing all sorts of information, arranging bicycle hire and other transport, and advising us on places to visit.

The only downside was the lack of WiFi, but then again, perhaps this was in keeping with the simple lifestyle of Majuli Island.

The owner Mr.Risong was absolutely amazing. He put our comfort before his own business. The house itself was everything & more than I expected.

Nice, simple, calm, clean place. Nothing special, just basic stuff is provided, but this is the advantage of the house. You can experience the way of living of the locals. Also, you can enjoy good and simple local dishes prepared at the restaurant which belongs to Risong family either. Recommended for those who would like to escape from loud urban reality and spend some time close to nature. And also, to explore beautiful Majuli and its unique culture

the location is great for access to the town and to the surrounding countryside. The owner, Monjit, was a really, helpful, friendly and knowledgeable man, with a laugh like the Dalai Lama. He’ll tell you all the places to go on the Island, and can get you in touch with other good people in places like Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh, and Mon in Nagar Land. Not only is Monjit a treasure … his staff are great too.

Monjit was an incredible host! He was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and more than happy to arrange scooters, bikes and apong for us at short notice and at a cheap price. During a walk Gwenna unfortunately got a really nasty cut which required urgent medical attention and Monjit rushed to help us to a hospital in his car. This act of kindness was greatly appreciated, and his calm and cheerful demeanor helped to deflect from what was otherwise a quite traumatic experience. The rooms are spacious and clean, and incredibly atmospheric with a good space outside to sit and relax and listen to the sounds of nature. We loved our stay at majuli, and risong family guest house was a pivotal part of that

Attentive staff, nice common sitting area, affordable, close to the town, clean, my end room was quiet.

Amazing value for money for private room. Long chair outside of room to lie down and relax. Ceiling fan inside room to keep cool. Location central, five minute walk to main market area.

Uncomfortable beds and pillow, It felt like sleeping on the floor, but not surprising given the location, I expected as such. Cold water, again not surprising for India. Mosquitos, but appreciate host's attempt to tackle this with a scent plug-in, doesn't work though, hard go sleep even with odomos. Food is good but takes long time to prepare, best to order one hour before you will be hungry.

Owner Monjit.. he is the best host. I felt like home there.

Risong is a wonderful place to stay. If you are looking for a long vacation, Majuli is one of the best places and Risong is the best to stay.

It was a very pleasant stay in Majuli island. The bamboo houses are really cosy and clean. The owner of this place is such a Nice and chill person with a good sense of humor and he is always there to help you! You can also rent a scooter there and a bicycle on the next street.

The stay was excellent with the best host to guide me around the Island. And the kindest heart, ready to help at any given time. Got to experinece the local way of living through the stay.

The location is convenient for the main roads. The guesthouse has good vibes with nice outdoor sitting. The restaurant is super good. The owner is such an amazing guy, friendly and helpful.

I had a lovely stay. The owner and his wife were really nice and took care of all their guests. I was travelling alone and felt safe and welcome throughout my stay.

The bathroom was limited without a heating coil to bathe. They could offer just a few comforts like a heating coil and kettle.
