Very well situated close to the airport and restaurants and it is just a beautiful, cosy guesthouse with a garden where you can perfectly relax. Jane, the owner, was just amazing as well, very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, we were only there for a very short stay, but we received a very warm welcome. The accommodation is beautiful – everything is brand new and modern. Breakfast offers a huge selection of different options, from bread and eggs to fresh fruit and cereals. The property is located just a few minutes from the airport, but it is also great for longer stays

Heel fijne en ruime plek vlakbij de luchthaven van Port Elizabeth. Het ontbijt was ook prima in orde! Jane en Pierre hebben ons erg goed geholpen met een lokaal probleem, ze waren super vriendelijk.

We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Jane. Je mag in de keuken je eigen ontbijt maken wij vonden dat erg leuk, en daarna buiten in de tuin gezeten!

Super schoon en compleet, alles aanwezig wat je evt nodig hebt en meer, eten/ ontbijt beschikbaar met veel keuze. Rustige omgeving maar 5 min van het vliegveld, perfect voor een tussenstop op doorreis als je wat later in de middag/ avond aankomt en rijden door donker wilt vermijden. Eigenaresse zet betrokken en vriendelijk.

Niets. Wij kregen een van de gebouwen (recent gerenoveerd) met ons gezin alleen, inclusief de beneden verdieping met keuken. Kan zijn dat deze ruimte normaal een gemeenschappelijke ruimte is. Voor ons was het nu in ieder geval perfect, ruim en veel privacy.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr liebevoll und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Es wurde an alles gedacht, um den Gästen einen komfortablen Aufenthalt zu ermöglichen, das Frühstück konnte man sich selbst zubereiten. Im Garten gibt es einen sehr schönen Pool.

Wow, this was truly a find. We couldn't have asked for a better 'PE airport layover'. It ticks every box - location (a mere 10 minutes from the airport), convenience (several good restaurants just outside the gate; Hussar's Grill highly recommended), a lovely garden setting with pool (that we never got to use), attention to detail (generous overkill on every front), a kitchen stocked to the hilt with delicious goodies for the self-serve breakfast, and really good value. Our stay was short, but just so enjoyable. This will definitely be our go-to in the future - flying in and out of PE, or a halfway stop to wherever...

Na przeciw domu swietna restauracja, gdzie bardzo trudno znalezc wolny stolik, ale dzieki telefonowi gospodyni mielismy prawdziwa uczte, na kazdy pokoj zajety - bon na butelke wina gratis. Ogrzewane lozko, w holu stylowy kominek z mozliwoscia rozpalenia wieczorem ognia. Sniadanie -self service z pelna lodowka i szafa zapasow.

Die Unterkunft ist noch schöner als auf den Fotos. Die Lage zu tollen Restaurants und die kurzen Wege zum Flughafen zeichnen die Unterkunft aus. Die Zimmer sind liebevoll gestaltet und sehr sauber, tolle gemütliche Betten ( sogar mit Heizdecke, für den Winter) und ein großes Duschbad. Der Pool und auch die Außenanlage sind fantastisch. Es gibt zum Frühstück alles was das Herz begehrt. Vielen lieben Dank. Leider blieben wir nur eine Nacht, wir wären gerne länger geblieben.

We had a really nice stay!! The property is located in Walmer close to all the amenities, we went to cape Recife and Addo from here and it was quite easy to reach both places. The house was really nice with wooden floors, a pool and a big kitchen to have breakfast(there was plenty of amazing food for breakfast and even snacks and drinks for the evening if you’d like to have anything) Jane was a great host, she explained everything that we needed to know about the accommodation in detail and she gave a lot of tips and reccomendations on what to do and see in the area

The house is absolutely gorgeous, and our room was comfy and spacious. My favourite part was the DIY breakfast. There is absolutely everything on offer. We had a leisurely breakfast with croissants, muesli, yoghurt and fruit, whilst reading the newspaper. Can't remember when last I did that! Thanks for a lovely stay.

There is quite a bit of traffic noise, so keep that in mind. It's on a main road. Ask for a room a bit further away, and you should be fine.

Lovely period home , large room with comfortable bed and a heater for cooler nights. An excellent breakfast choice and use of the kitchen , in addition to tea/ coffee facility in bedroom , appreciated . We didn’t try the pool but really enjoyed sitting out on the patio watching the birds in the garden. Jane and Pierre were wonderful hosts , nothing was too much trouble for them .

I be hard pressed to find anything tbh but might be worth noting that If you a lite sleeper property is on a busy road so there is traffic noise until late evening . However , it dies off towards 11 pm so doesn’t effect sleep .

Breakfast is self service. All options available, fresh fruit, cereals etc. Whole, well equipped kitchen at your disposal to prepare breakfast.

This was, by far, the most beautiful guesthouse we have had the luck and pleasure to stay at, in our 20+ years of traveling. It's super modern and chic, and It has been wonderfully thought of and decorated by the owner. Such attention to details, great interior design taste, and at the same time so inviting and warm. So sad we stayed only one night before our flight out. The breakfast is available as a self catering, meaning everything is provided in the fridge for a good next day breakfast. There are eggs, bacon, yogurt, different types of cereal, cheese, salami, honestly everything was more than plentiful. It was above and beyond. Fruits and croissants as well as gem, butter, tea & coffee are available. If there would be a Booking Exelence star os something like that, this accommodation would be well worth it. Jane was a wonderful host. She welcomed us very nicely giving us lots of tips of things to do around. The accommodation is a beautiful 19th century house with lots of history. It is perfectly tidy and clean and Jane has plenty of details for the guests to be comfortable. One of the best bnbs we’ve ever been, and we’ve been travelling quite a few years already. Thank you very much Jane!

We love the location of this property. But also love that it feels like home. It is so comfortable. Clean. Neat. It has all the comforts one has at home. The bedding is of the highest quality. Every detail is thought of to make your stay one of comfort and ease. The food. The bathroom. The bedrooms. The kitchen. Nothing is out of place. Clean. Neat. Tidy. The softest big towels. Face cloths. Even make up remover wipes at the basin. Two prong plugs for chargers. Little radio in the bedroom. Tea/coffee station in the bedroom.

A wonderful stay, we were so well looked after and the host was fantastic and allowed us to stay around the pool whilst we waited for a flight.

We had a great two night stay at Jane’s lovely B&B. The place was beautiful, historic, very comfortable and the hostess and staff were friendly. The make your own breakfast was great too. A lovely place to stay in Port Elizabeth.

So viel Liebe zum Detail. Die Gemeinschaftsküche hatte alles was man braucht. Das Frühstück macht man sich selbst-aber es ist alles da und das Beste: Spülen und aufräumen muss man nicht. Das ist Urlaub. Wir haben uns so wohlgefühlt und die Gastgeberin war sehr herzlich.

Sehr liebevoll eingerichtetes Gästehaus. Die Gastgeberin ist unglaublich freundlich und hat wirklich an alles gedacht. Die Einrichtung ist mit viel liebe zum Detail gestaltet worden und unglaublich sauber! Hier kommen wir auf jedenfall sehr gerne wieder hin.

We hadden een geweldig verblijf gehad! We zijn hartelijk verwelkomd en alles was tot in de puntjes verzorgd. De uitgebreide ontbijt onderdelen stonden klaar in de keuken en we konden het zelf klaarmaken wanneer we wilden. De keuken is voorzien van alles en super goede materialen. Koffie kun je op verschillende manieren maken en thee staat zelfs ook nog op de kamer klaar. Het zwembad was prachtig schoon en ook de tuin lag er super mooi bij. Alles was schoon en netjes, de bedden comfortabel, de douche heerlijk. We zouden er zo weer overnachten!

Nicht weit entfernt vom Flughafen in einer sicheren Gegend (Walmer) liegt das liebevoll restaurierte Whistlewood Guesthouse. Gute und hilfreiche Kommunikation mit der Eigentümerin bestand bereits vor dem Eintreffen am Haus. Parkmöglichkeiten sind auf dem gesicherten und videoüberwachten Grundstück gegeben. Absolut reizende Vermieterin, Jane, die uns sehr herzlich empfangen hat und uns gute Tipps gab. Das Zimmer war liebe- und geschmackvoll eingerichtet, bequeme Betten, alle technischen Einrichtungen und WLAN top, Badezimmer mit Dusche, alles sehr sauber. Aus der großen Gemeinschaftsküche kann man die von der Eigentümerin in hoher Qualität und großer Quantität vorgehaltenen Lebensmittel (Brot, Butter, Milch, Saft, Wurst, Käse, Joghurt und frisches Obst) für ein ausgiebiges Frühstück selbst zusammenstellen und auf der schönen Veranda verzehren. Am Haus befindet sich auch ein Pool. Super Restaurant direkt gegenüber des Hauses, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe, Entfernung zum Addo Elefant Park etwa 35-40 Minuten. Wir hatten einen super Aufenthalt und können das Whistlewood nur empfehlen.

Location was very close to airport. Jane was an excellent host who welcomed us to her home and spent time explaining things. She made us very welcome and we were able to stay at the house, and were welcome to use the pool, until we needed to leave for our afternoon flight. If I am back in Port Elizabeth I will definitely be paying Jane a return visit. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

The homestead was absolutely stunning - a perfect example of an older property with stunning period features. The breakfast was generous and was self-service and relaxed. Highly recommended as a stop off for those travelling the garden route towards Addo game park, as we were. It provided a fantastic oasis en route. The owners were absolutely lovely and offered local advice.

Vorweg, es war die beste Unterkunft die wir in 21 Tagen in Südafrika bewohnt haben, leider auch der kürzeste Zeitraum. Wir waren gleich bei unserer Ankunft überrascht über die Gastfreundschaft von Jane, den gepflegte Garten, die mit Liebe eingerichteten Zimmer. Wir hatten außer unserem Schlafzimmer noch eine wunderbar ausgestattete Küche die mit anderen Gästen geteilt wurde. Um uns morgens ein Frühstück zu machen, war der Kühlschrank mehr als gefüllt. Jane sagte "you can take what you want". Außerdem gab es alkoholische und nichtalkoholische Getränke in reicher Auswahl zu fairen Preisen, bezahlt wurde auf Vertrauensbasis an der "Honesty Bar". Es hat uns so gut gefallen das wir für das nächste Jahr schon 3 Nächte gebucht haben. Wir freuen uns auf das Wiedersehen mit Jane PS: Gute Restaurants in unmittelbarer Nähe, zu Fuß und sicher erreichbar.

De service met een lach. Hoe alles was geregeld. Het was een warm bad waar je in terecht kwam en heerlijk genoten van alle faciliteiten.

Ideally located for a one-night stay in Port Elizabeth with excellent dining - Hussars Grill - over he road (+ alternatives). Very nice older style building with attractive grounds and great host.

Brilliant service, rooms great and large and great for ladies, with mirrors and plugs in great position for doing hair & make-up (often overlooked by others). Everything available for making own breakfast. Jane was a fantastic host who pays particular attention to detail. Warm & friendly and went over & above to make our stay perfect. We stayed 3 nights as we were visiting Addo elephant park which was an easy 40 minute drive to Colchester gate. Thank you.

An outstanding bed and breakfast in every way. The beautiful décor, tranquil gardens and the sound of the birds made it a truly relaxing place to stay. The accommodation, with all its added touches, was warm and very comfortable. Jane, the hostess, was gracious and welcoming and went out of her way to make our time extremely memorable.

Een prachtig gasthuis vlak bij het vliegveld van Port Elizabeth. Het is nog heel nieuw, perfect schoon en heel sfeervol. Wat een verrassing was , is dat we de koelkast aantroffen vol met drankjes en spullen voor het ontbijt. Het ontbijt was self service. Voor alles wat we buiten het ontbijt om wilden gebruiken werd op basis van eerlijkheid een vergoeding gevraagd. Heel leuk! Fijn om na een reis met een drankje op het terras te kunnen gaan zitten zonder eerst bij de supermarkt langs te hoeven gaan.

De host was erg vriendelijk en voorkomend. Tegelijk was ze veel aanwezig in en rond het gasthuis waardoor we ons niet helemaal vrij voelden. Toen we aan het ontbijt zaten de volgende ochtend, nog voor de uitchecktijd, begon ze al de vaatwasser in te pakken. Opzich niet zo erg, maar iets meer privacy hadden we wel fijn gevonden.

This is a delightful property well located in easy reach of the airport, and we had the good fortune to stay there on two occasions in February. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our host Jane, who showed us around and told us about the local restaurants which are conveniently located just across the road. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and the property is immaculate. There are a wide variety of options to choose from for breakfast, and the idea of constructing your own works well and is very relaxing. The gardens are beautiful and there are many places to sit to enjoy breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening. Although Jane doesn’t live on site, she is often around for advice or a chat. We stayed in many guesthouses during our SA visit and the combination of host, hospitality, quality and value makes this property stand out above the rest. We loved our stay here and can highly recommend Whistlewood Guesthouse.

This is not just a property, it’s a beautiful home. As soon as we stepped in we were made to feel welcome by Jane, the owner. She is delightful and although living elsewhere, was around to welcome us and check us out, sharing helpful information about local restaurants. The breakfast is wonderful, served family style - the cupboards and fridge are bursting with yoghurts, juice, fruits, muesli, eggs, bread, avocado…. Well, everything you need for breakfast really. You just help yourself, cook eggs if you want, or enjoy the lovely selection from the fridge if you prefer. I loved this relaxed homely approach!
