Alvas house

The hosts are wonderful! They cooked us a meal and celebrated the Sri Lanka new year with us. They really go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. We worked online and the wifi worked really well (as long as the power stayed on which is out of their control and the power didnt cut frequently or for long). Also a great location! Far enough off the main road to avoid the noise and you can only hear the train if you're paying attention. The Beach is just a couple of minutes walk away!

It's a bit loud on Friday night. They provide ear plugs, though, as there's a party just down the block that blares music into the night.

Domáci boli veľmi milí a priateľskí. Celkovo hotel pôsobil čisto, rodinne, útulne .Nachádza sa vo veľmi dobrej polohe. V centre mesta, ale zároveň v bočnej uličke. Ako veľký benefit sme brali každodenné upratovanie a prezliekanie postele. Na ubytovaní bohužiaľ nie je možné si dať si raňajky.,ale ponúknu vám každý deň kávu alebo čaj.Veľmi milé prekvapenie bolo, keď nám domáci ponúkol,že nám spraví raňajky. To sa nám veľmi páčilo a veľmi nám chutilo,urobil to sám a od srdca.Rovnako vám pomôžu vybaviť aj transfer na ďalšie miesto.Dalsi benefit je aj plne vybavená spoločná kuchyňa a na streche hotela gril s posedením s výhľadom na more.

Všetko bolo za nás v poriadku. Možno by som povedal, že v blízkosti sa nachádza železnica. To je ale problém mesta, keďže ide kolajnica stredom mesta. Tento problém sme mali aj na inom ubytovaní v meste. Tiež piatok v noci hrala hudba v neďalekých podnikoch. To samozrejme nie je problém ubytovania, skôr je to daň za ubytovanie v centre.

Vriendelijk en warm welkom, schone en ruime kamer, locatie was goed, geen last van de trein die bijna door je kamer rijdt 😃. Susan, Tushare en (smiling) Sunny boy allemaal willen ze je het naar je zin maken, zonder opdringerig te zijn. Erg fijn verblijf gehad!

Waterdruk van de douche mag iets hoger.

Alva’s House is best place to stay in Hikkaduwa. It’s minutes from the beach, delicious food and shopping. The hosts are lovely and welcoming and they have the most wonderful cats and dogs, especially that orange cat! I refuse to say anywhere but Alva’s House!

I loved every moment of my stay at Alva’s house.

We had such a good time. Everything from the service and especially the owner and the staff was amazing. We had a really lovely breakfast at the check out day. When we come back we will stay here again. Thank u guys for everything

I had a really nice stay here! The staff is great, very welcoming. The house is nice and in good condition. The location is a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Would recommend!

The shower water pressure could be stronger.

Well, we have been in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 5 weeks travelling and stayed in all different types of accommodation all over the country and all have been great in different ways’ but for us Alvas house has to be our favourite. The amazing host Susanne and Thushare and their wonderful assistant Sunny boy 🤗 I don’t normally score 10 on booking .com But I have this time the property is in a wonderful location the beach and restaurants shops are 2 minute walk the property is in a quiet road, you can hear the odd train go by but we loved that.The rooms are super clean with a really comfortable bed. Sunny boy made our bed each day which was a surprise as this never happened at any other place we stayed in. We had wonderful Sri Lankan breakfast made for us by Thushare and Sunny boy which we enjoyed whilst chatting and exchanging stories. Their advice for local places to eat and go was fantastic and really useful. If you love a burger go to Hello Burger on the main street it’s a must and 2 mins away from here 😋and if you’re up for a surf lesson just ask Thushare, he can recommend someone for you 🏄‍♂️ I would highly recommend this place if you are coming to Hikkaduwa, we loved it and Hikkaduwa was an amazing end to our time in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 Thank you guys 🤗 Martyn & Jayne 🇬🇧

Guesthouse dans une ruelle tranquille à 2 pas de la plage et de la rue principale (bonne localisation) Les chambres sont propres et nettoyées chaque jour. L'eau est chaude. Les propriétaires sont très accueillants et conseillent des restaurants, activités surf...

(-) A proximité d'un chemin de fer avec quelques trains qui passent aussi la nuit (simple vitrage) (-) Jet de douche très faible.

Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen. Das Zimmer war sehr schön, alles sauber und gepflegt. Die Hosts waren sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Wir haben die Zeit und die Gespräche sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder! ☺️✨

Es war sehr schön! Wir hatten eine wunderbare Zeit. Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Hosts. Auf dem Balkon und der Dachterasse kann man toll entspannen.

Все было великолепно. Небольшой, очень уютный отель. Просторные, чистые, светлые номера со свежим ремонтом, балконом, кондиционером, холодильником и всем необходимым. Уборка каждый день. Очень доброжелательный и заботливый персонал, всегда готовый помочь. Общая кухня на 3 номера полностью упакованная. Удачное расположение немного в стороне от суеты центральной улицы, в то же время до пляжа, магазинов и ресторанов пешком 3-5 минут. Огромное спасибо Сюзанне, Тушару и Санни за прекрасный отдых.

Sehr nette Gastgeber, gute Lage, es gab einen Kühlschrank im Zimmer, wir hatten warmes Wasser, alles in allem einfach unkompliziert.

Wir hatten leider ein paar kleine Ameisen im Zimmer, war aber nicht weiter tragisch.

It's an incredible place! The room was clean and comfortable, maintained daily. We were welcomed with cold coconut and the warmest smile I've ever seen. Hosts are very kind and caring, always looking out for you to make sure you're comfortable. The location is perfect for turtle watching and swimming, with lots of small shops and places to eat.

The location is very convenient. The beach outside here is suitable for surfing. Ten minutes' walk to the right is the turtle beach which suitable for snorkeling, there is also a big supermarket on the way. It takes another twenty minutes walk to a small fish and vegetable market. You can buy vegetables there and cook in the public kitchen on the second floor here .It's very convenient. But the best part was the owner Susan and Tushy! Thank you, Tushy who always smiles and Susan who is so warm-hearted. Thank you the unforgettable Friday night! You invited me and all the guests to have a big meal together and chat freely. It was such a happy time! I hope to have the chance to stay here again!

The air conditioners in Sri Lanka are all very noisy, but it's not your fault!

The accommodation is very centrally located and but also in a quiet side street. The beautifully furnished rooms, the green garden, the shared kitchen and the roof terrace immediately give you a wonderful feeling of being at home. Everything is super clean and is cleaned and aired daily. The owners are incredibly kind and helpful. It quickly felt as if we had known them for years, as they really put so much heart into their work. We will definitely come back.

This little guesthouse is one of the warmest and friendliest places i have been. Rooms are spotless, wifi is excellent and location is good. But its the owners that really make you want to return. Thanks for making me feel welcome and at home and taking care of me when needed.

The shower, temperature and waterpressure, as in many places, could have been better

The property was central to where we wanted to be, if my sister had not have hurt her foot we could have walked to most places, but because she did all we had to do was walk outside and a tuk tuk was always available!

Amazing amazing hosts. Really friendly and nice to have a chat with. Often gave us king coconuts whilst we were relaxing on the balcony. They tidied the room every day we stayed which was a nice surprise as I haven't seen that in any other place we stayed out during our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Location is brilliant too, close to everything good

Addition of a hairdryer would be good.

Absolutely amazing host. He was extremely caring and helpful. Everything was very clean. Great location, super close to the beach and many restaurants. I had a really great experience and will definitely be staying here again next time I come.

The place is great, even better than i expected. The stuff was absolutely great and super helpful, room was comfy, big enough for two and mini fridge in the room was definitely a plus++ FIBER INTERNET was great as i was a travelling for business also, so needed releable and fast enough WIFI. No problems with that at all. All and over super nice place to stay, HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone to stay even for longer period of time. Unfortunately i only had time for 2 nights, but i could easily stay there for a month! Beach so close, all the beast restaurants in area just walk away, its was just perfect. 10/10 stars to this place. Highly recommend! Absolutely nothing bad to say. Book and enjoy :)

Nothing, it was perfect. There was no mosquito nest if it is important for someone. We were there in the beginning of January and we didn’t have any problems with mosquitos.

The owners were very welcoming and really looked after all my needs while I was there. Felt like home away from home. The room was very large and clean and had a balcony as well to chill on. Really would highly recommend this place.

Amazing accommodation and amazing hosts! 2min walk to the beach and tucked away from road noise. Accomodation standard is the perfect mix of Western and Eastern world. Spacious common kitchen with everything you need and rooftop. Nice details with a private mini fridge in the room and earplugs for those bothered by the train nearby. The kindness of the hosts in unmatchable!

The bed was hard to my taste but the comfortable pillow balanced it out after a few nights.

Susanna and Tusharo (please excuse me if I’m misspelling the names :) were wonderful hosts. Welcoming and informative. It really felt like our own house. Spotless clean, equipped with everything a traveler needs, beautiful nature around, a garden well kept. Another great thing is the hosts really care about animals and Tusharo shared fascinating information about the connection local people share with the sea turtles (we got lucky and swam with them). The beach has some great surf. Would love to come back and stay more.

The best place we’ve ever stayed in Sri Lanka! I’ve traveled several times around Sri Lanka before, but I’ve never met such wonderful owners like these guys, they are really the best! Everything was comfortable and clean. First time in Sri Lanka I met a place where owners make a cleaning EVERY day, it’s fantastic!

Perfect place for rest; house has everything for cooking on very light and clean kitchen! I also liked the location of this house, it’s close to every shop and restaurant but a bit aside from the main road, it’s very comfortable, not noisy at all. Owners were so good, I still remember about them with a warmth in my heart!

We stayed 3 nights, quality - price is great. Bedrooms and bed are big and daily cleaned. Location perfect, near to the beach and main surf spots. But the best overall are the hosts, amazing people, really warm, kind, welcoming and smily. They even invited us one night to have dinner with them (food was amazing). Defenitly I recommend the place

The owners Susanne and Tushara welcome you in their’s spacious beautiful house and make you feel like at home. House is very stylish and super modern,hidden inside lovely green garden with palm trees. Rooms have all the equipments you need.Theyre very cozy and also spacious! It was our BEST accomondation in our 14 days holiday!

We would like to thank owners for perfect homestay. Everybody was very friendly and polite, so it creates an atmosphere of good relaxation and a great mood. Everything is clean, comfortable and tastefully done. Nice design, good furniture, everyday cleaning, good wi-fi. We liked to sit on the rooftop or private balcony area every day. The house is very close to the sea, 5 minutes on foot We spent very good time here and hope to come again! Thank you all very much!

I loved everything! The rooms are spacious, light and suuuuper clean! I love that there is a kitchen to use and that all rooms have a place to sit outdoors. I love that it's just 3 minutes (max) to the beach. above all I love the owners they are beyond helpful and super friendly!

Everything was just perfect. SUPER fast fibrewifi, no problems at all with working onlinen. Only 1min walk from the beautiful beach and many many restaurants and small shops. Nearest supermarket also only few minutes walk away. Clean rooms, owners was super relaxed and chill and always there to help you with everything. All i can say is that this was the best place we stayed in Hikkaduwa.
