I loved the location and the hospitality of Sarah and Philippe. The place is as described and has most all you'd need in your trip. Would definitely come back if I'm ever back near Tromsø!
Everything was great. Something I'd recommend is adding a small washing machine, which would be of great help for travelers. But to be honest, everything was there as promised!
It is a beautiful place, the kitchen has everything you need.
Perhaps larger windows would make the experience even more special, allowing you to enjoy the view even more from inside.
The location couldn't be better, great hikes quite remote.
No airing/air filtering inside. Unfortunately there is some black mold in the corners and under the couch. Also some wet patches on the ceiling. There is a dehumidifier running but that does not help when the mold is already there. Since the place is half underground and had very bad air, we aired out the apartment when we arrived. Then the host came over and seemed upset due to high electricity costs of airing out. In our opinion these costs should be calculated into the rent and the reaction of the host was not welcoming.
It was such a cosy home from home. We saw the aurora, the house was clean and the owners were lovely.

The location and the parking option, kitchen has good cooking tools
The apartment turned out to be a basement unit of a house, with only one small window that doesn’t face a wall but still lets in limited light. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable smell of humidity, especially in the sleeping area. The owner seems aware of this issue and has placed an air purifier there, but it didn’t help much. The bed was also far too soft — and I’m someone who actually likes soft beds, but this one was overly so, making it uncomfortable to sleep on. There was a pump in the bathroom which pumps the sewage water out of the apartment and it was very annoying. The entrance area in front of the apartment is quite dark, and we struggled to find the keyhole — we even had to use our phone flashlights to open the door. The photos of the fjord shown in the listing were a bit misleading, as they don’t reflect the actual view from the apartment. We didn’t meet the owners in person; they left the key inside along with a detailed instruction book. To be honest, the tone of those instructions came across as rather strict and even slightly unfriendly in parts. They were extremely specific — reminding guests to take out the garbage, remove bed covers before leaving, and not to roll luggage on the long deck stairs leading to the apartment. It felt a bit excessive and unwelcoming. There was also an unfortunate issue with the hot water, which ran out suddenly on the first night. Thankfully, it worked fine the next evening. Overall, our stay wasn’t very comfortable, and there are several aspects that could be improved to make it a more pleasant experience for future guests.
The location is really great. We are glad we stayed here and not in the city. The hosts are very friendly. Philip gave us lots of useful advice on where to go and what to see, and also called us when the northern lights started.
Friendly and helpful hosts. Comfortable, welcoming and well-located house.
After reading the welcome book I felt like someone was trying to teach me how to behave in a house. Guests must remove the sheets from the bed.
Location was amazing !
We had a wonderful stay at the crush! The accommodation is super cozy, very comfortable and extremely clean. The hosts were very kind and helpful, and the location is great if you have a car.
The town is located so beautiful it literally couldn’t be better.
Nicely located, clean and has everything you might need for family stay.
All of the fjord shore is private. You have to go outside of the village to fish ;)
Cosy, warm and clean. Very nice host, and a great place to see the Northern Lights!
The location is amazing, so peaceful and beautiful place.

Fantastic location in the beautiful village of Ersfjordbotn, a short drive from Tromsø about 25 mins. Ideally situated to see the aurora straight from the front door which we seen 4/5 times in the space of a week it was breathtaking. The hosts were very helpful giving us advice on where to eat and even letting us know when the northern lights were out. Highly recommend A+
It difficult to find anything wrong with this accommodation, its value for money, clean and the owners really helpful. It was everything we hoped for but if I am going to be ultra critical the shower head could do with being renewed but that’s is just me looking for a fault.
Lovely Location Great room Amazing view
It was spacious and roomy. Clean and bright. Comfy and relaxing. A very quiet location. The bed was lovely. We slept well. A well equipped kitchen. Nice big bathroom. Warm property for winter. Good views over the Fjord and Mountains.
Nothing as such. My only suggestion would be to put a lamp in the bedroom section. But other than that. It was awesome.
The hosts made us feel so welcome, it's location is ideal, with magnificent views of the fjord and mountains. A lovely cafe with great food is a walk away and it is easy to get to from the airport or Tromso. Plus the host offered a fabulous photo tour with help to get the right settings on your camera for the lights!
My stay was too short!
It was our second time here, would definitely come back. All was great, we had everything we needed, the location is superb, we even saw reindeer walking around on the street.
Sometimes the air is a bit humid (even though there is an air dehumidifier on site), but it is expected since this is a basement.
Great location just outside of the city. Being so close to the Fjord was a bonus and very little light pollution for the Northern Lights.

The place was cosy and comfortable. Great communication with owners😊
I was really impressed with The Crush. Arrival was easy, and the hosts were very helpful but not at all over-bearing. The property is the bottom floor of a purpose-built double garage. It includes a very large and comfortable double bed, well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom with a proper shower cabinet and has more than adequate heating. Being 20 km from the centre of the city has both plusses and minuses, but self-catering is a good option in such an expensive country. Esfjordbotn is just 5 km away from one of the finest supermarkets in Scandinavia (Eide Handel) which has just about everything imaginable in stock but also specializes in local products. The village offers nice walks around the fjord as well as more strenuous hikes, has a superb local waterfront cafe, and the views are stunning whatever the weather. Overall, I thoroughly recommend The Crush as a base for a visit to the Tromsö region.
