Man Guest is a family run hotel, and the charming family are all very welcoming and hospitable. Our host prepared two of the most delicious meals we have eaten in three weeks of touring Sri Lanka, and the breakfasts were equally as delicious. And very reasonably priced. It is in a great location to the archeological museum and ruins which we thoroughly enjoyed on bikes rented from the hotel. We spent an evening on a lake safari, watching elephants and a beautiful sunset. They organised a car transfer to our next destination for the same price as Pick Me, and accompanied us on the journey. We thoroughly recommend this friendly hotel.

Schone kamer met mooi uitzicht. Lekker bed en fijne badkamer. Airco aanwezig. Hele vriendelijke eigenaren! Perfecte uitvalsbasis om tempels te bekijken. Wij werden met een tuk tuk van de locatie langs verschillende tempels gebracht die wij wilden bekijken. In de avond heerlijk gegeten, het eten werd gemaakt voor de eigenaresse. De volgende ochtend hebben ze ons weggebracht naar onze volgende locatie. Super goede prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding

Die Gastgeberin war super freundlich und auch nicht aufdringlich. Klare Empfehlung das Dinner und das Frühstück mitzunehmen! Authentisch Sri Lankanisch und extrem lecker. Preise waren auch fair. Fahrradverlieh zum erkunden der City war auch möglich.

Location was fabulous with all rooms upstairs with paddy field views from the balcony. Close to the ancient ruins so easy to get to early in the day and then come back and check out. The room was large spacious and clean, dinner was delicious and plentiful. Staff and host were a delight

La chambre était propre et l’endroit était très bien situé pour visiter la cité antique. Il est possible de louer des vélos à un prix très intéressant.

Great value accommodation in Polonnaruwa. Rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. Hosts are friendly and helpful. We rented two bikes to explore the ancient city and the location could not be better - a three minute ride from the ticket office. Highly-recommended!

Breakfast perhaps a little pricey.

Établissement charmant, très simple et propre. L’hôte est vraiment très attentive pour que tout se passe le mieux possible … aux petits soins. La localisation est idéale pour visite le principal site de la ville, et la guest house propose la location de vélo, très pratique. Nous avons dîner et petit déjeuner sur place, la nourriture est vraiment excellente. Excellent rapport qualité / prix.

Sehr nette Hotelbesitzerin. Einfaches Zimmer mit der Möglichkeit draußen zu sitzen. Gutes Frühstück draußen vor den Reisfeldern und perfekte Lage um die ancient City mit dem Rad zu erkunden (gab es zur Leihe). Nur Barzahlung möglich.

Das Bad hätte definitiv sauberer sein können.

Chambre simple et propre en retrait de la rue Sièges sur la terrasse devant la chambre très agréable le soir Dîner et petit déjeuner bon et copieux avec vue sur la rizière. Très proche de l'entrée du site à visiter Nilusha propose pleins de services à prix raisonnable. Loue des vélos sans vitesse (un peu sportif mais ok pour nous !) pour la visite (attention venir avant 8h30 car il fait chaud et ensuite c'est bondé de bus). Le top : réserver le boat safary pour le coucher du soleil (vu 3 éléphants et très peu de touristes à l'horizon !) Sa cousine propose aussi des massages ayurvediques de bonne qualité

Abbiamo alloggiato una notte presso la struttura. Stanza perfetta, pulita e dotata di tutto il necessario. Vista e quiete semplicemente spettacolari. La colazione era incredibile e a cena abbiamo mangiato il miglior rice & curry di tutta la vacanza. Staff gentilissimo e accogliente. Super consigliato!

Außergewöhnlich schönes Guesthouse mit Blick auf die Reisfelder, mit dem Rad nur zehn Minuten von den beeindruckenden Sehenswürdigkeiten Polannaruwas entfernt. Die Zimmer sind toll eingerichtet, groß und sehr sauber. Frühstück und Abendessen waren einfach perfekt. Die Besitzerin ist ganz wunderbar und hat uns sowohl Fahrräder als auch den Transport zur nächsten Unterkunft organisiert. Sehr zu empfehlen!

Location was ideal, not too far from restaurants, accessible with a tuk tuk of few mins. Host was really helpful. We asked for laundry service and they offered such service in a very short period of time. They gave us tips on some activities and we also rented the bicycle to be used for the ancient city tour. (Those who are not fit enough, i would suggest taking a tuk tuk instead) I had muscle aches the next day🤦🏽‍♀️. Host also arranged boat safari for us and we saw a few wild elephant from afar. All in all it was a great stay, with great view facing the paddy field as we had our breakfast. Room was clean. I slept really well during this stay. We booked for 2 beds in a room.

Mooi gelegen hotel met uitzicht over de rijstvelden. Hotel is uitstekend voor de prijs. Niet heel luxe, maar erg schoon en rustig gelegen. Perfecte plek om met de fiets (kan via hotel geregeld) Polonnaruwa te verkennen. Uitstekende prijs/kwaliteit verhouding.

A really lovely view of the paddy fields from the accommodation and the location was great for cycling into the old ruins. Also was really helpful that you can hire their bikes. The staff were really generous and accommodating and offered breakfast and dinner, which was great! The dinner was some of the best Sri Lankan food we ate, and it was lovely to have an authentic home cooked meal. Spacious rooms which was nice to come back to.

As breakfast and dinner was an additional cost it wouldve been helpful if this was advertised as an offer on the accommodation listing, just so that it is known that this is available and what the cost is.

Outre l'emplacement génial, les locaux bien équipés et propres, c'est avant tout une superbe rencontre. Nôtre hôte est une femme exceptionnelle, elle n'a été que gentillesse et bons conseils. Le safari qu'elle nous a organisé était incroyable, notre guide compétant et gentil nous a offert la meilleure expérience possible! Notre maman de substitution nous a même préparé un petit déjeuner à emporter car elle craignait que nous ayons faim. Adorable attention qui représente à la perfection l'accueil chaleureux de ce lieux.

I had a wonderful stay at this beautiful guest house in Polonnaruwa. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything I needed. My room was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, making my stay even more enjoyable! Everything was well maintained, and the peaceful atmosphere made it a great place to relax after exploring the area. I highly recommend this guest house to anyone visiting Polonnaruwa and would happily stay here again! 🙏🏼 💚

The owner is kind and helpful. You can lend bike and go to the archeological sites - it's no problem to go there by bike, but be careful tuktuk drivers will tell you different. The accommodation was clean and had great view. You can add breakfast, which is really tasty.

Amazing host, super kind and attentive. The hotel is super clean with great views of the rice fields. We had a delicious breakfast and would recommend to anyone to stay. We rented bikes to visit Polonnaruwa Ancient city which is very close to the hotel.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour au Men Guest. La propriétaire est d’une grande gentillesse : très accueillante, souriante et toujours attentive au bien-être de ses clients. Les chambres sont très propres, confortables et agréables. Le petit déjeuner était délicieux, avec une magnifique vue sur les rizières, un vrai moment de plaisir au réveil. Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié la petite terrasse devant la chambre, très agréable pour se détendre. La possibilité de faire laver notre linge a aussi été très appréciée. Absolutely Perfect Stay! We are a family of four and absolutely loved our stay here. Everything was spotless and impeccably clean, making us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The mattress was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep after each day of exploring. One of the highlights was waking up to the stunning views of the rice fields, with playful monkeys providing endless entertainment right from our room. The setting is truly beautiful and peaceful. The owners are some of the kindest and most helpful people we have ever met. They arranged everything for us effortlessly, including bike rentals, taxis, and an unforgettable tour to the national park—which is an absolute must-do! Nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was also exceptional. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and they were incredibly accommodating with allergies, carefully adjusting meals to suit our family's needs. It is rare to find a place that combines such wonderful hospitality, comfort, beautiful surroundings, and excellent food. We cannot recommend it highly enough and are already looking forward to coming back as soon as possible. Thank you for making our family holiday so special!

Очень милая, приветливая хозяйка. Организовала для нас экскурсию в старый город, а также предоставила места на фестивале-шествии посвященному празднику Посон Поя. (Потрясающее зрелище). Накормила вкусным завтраком. Комната просторная, хорошо работает кондиционер, есть вентилятор. Кровать удобная. В душевой установлен проточный водонагреватель, поэтому с горячей водой проблем нет. Все очень удобно. Особенно хочется отметить замечательный вид с балкона - рисовые поля, деревья. Во дворике есть пруд с золотыми рыбками.

Возможно не хватает яркости освещения в комнате, но для нас это было не критично.

- La localisation est parfaite : proche de l’entrée de la zone archéologique, mais aussi proche du lac (pour les beaux sunset!) et au milieu des rizières. - Chambre très propre et bien meublé, avec climatisation et literie confortable. - Nous avons petit-déjeuner et dîner sur place. C’était très bon ! On s’y est sentit comme à la maison tout en ayant notre intimité. - Location de vélo disponible - La famille est très accueillante. Merci à eux :)

Excellent value for money, location close to town and Ancient City of Polonnaruwa, host was very friendly and helpful and even started breakfast early for us, delicious breakfast with lots of fruit, beautiful views of animals in the rice paddy during breakfast

Unexpected expenses in the end.

De kamer was heel ruim en beschikte over een werkende AC. De bedden waren comfortabel. De badkamer was prima en schoon. Het is prachtig gelegen aan een rijstveld en je loopt zo het stadje in. Het personeel helpt graag met activiteiten boeken en stelt fietsen beschikbaar tegen een klein bedrag. Helemaal top!

Die Gastgeberin ist extrem freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück sowie das Abendessen waren grosszügig und ausgezeichnet- das beste Rice&Curry nach 4 Wochen in Sri Lanka. Die Gastgerin hat für uns eine private Safari in den Hurulu Eco Park organisiert. Wir sahen 50-60 Elefanten und hatten einen hervorragenden Fahrer/Guide.. wir erfuhren sehr viel interessantes über die Elefanten und viels mehr. Ebenso wurde uns der Besuch im archäologischen Park organisiert. Die Lage fanden wir ebenfalls sehr gut. Nah zu allem und doch sehr ruhig. Wir sind rundum zufrieden und können das Man Guest von Herzen empfehlen.

Better sind eher etwas hart.

The guesthouse has a very beautiful setting with the porch and terrace towards a green courtyard and the surrounding rice paddies. It is conveniently located close to the Archeological Museum as the starting point to all the sites with the only ticket office. It is also worth strolling around the small island park behind the museum for sunset. We received a welcome tea from our host Nilusha, who was very kind and helpful. It's a delight to sit on the porch (with or without a tea), enjoy the view into the green and listen to the sounds of nature. Our room was very spacious, clean and well maintained. Wifi is fast and also available outside while sitting on the porch. It is possible to receive breakfast and dinner at the guesthouse. The home cooked food was very good with generous portions. In order to get around the spread out archeological sites one can rent bicycles from the guesthouse.

Ребята, это невероятно классное место. Хозяйка просто восхитительная! Очень рекомендую его, если путешествуете по стране. Рядом старый город - ancient Pollonaruwa. Владелица восхитительная, видно, как человек обожает свое дело, гостей. Она организовала нам поездки в Сигирию и Национальный парк, посмотреть слонов, а также трансфер в Нувара Элию. То есть весь этот головняк с поискам машины во все точки она взяла на себя. Невероятно круто! В номере очень чисто, просторно, хорошее постельное белье. Хозяйка сервирует завтраки и ужины. Тоже очень рекомендую! Все невероятно вкусно, четко в срок по времени. Очень довольна, что забронировала именно это место. Дорогие владельцы, процветания вам и самых замечательных гостей!

Location - just off main road for easy access, but also view across ricefields. Very scenic. Helpful and efficient host arranged excursions and transport very well. Ample tasty breakfast and dinners. Aircon in bedroom appreciated. Spotless bathroom. Undercover patio dining area cool and great view.

The host gave us a birthday cake!! ❤️ Also we swapped our bigger room for the one on the end - lovely views over the fields and we could keep our curtains open too. Melissa organised our elephant safari, saw heaps. We also went on the sunset cruise - hilarious 'boat' (no engines allowed on the lake) with lovely crew - took more pics of bird island than we did of the elephants! She is also a really good cook. Oh and these were the best bikes we've hired so far

j'ai beaucoup aimé l'accueil, l'hospitalité des hôtes est formidable. On est reçu comme des invités. J'ai diné et petit déjeuner sur place, c'était délicieux. J'avais la vue sur les rizières et la nature, c'était formidable. on comprend aisément que les clients sont des sri lankais en déplacement professionnel d'où le nom de l'hostel mais les touristes seuls sont très bien accueillis aussi.

Als je in polonnaruwa wil verblijven dan kan ik je deze accomodatie enorm aanbevelen. De kamer op zich is basic maar voor die prijs kun je ook geen grote luxe verwachten. Onbetaalbaar is de enorme gastvrijheid van deze lieve dame. Niets is haar teveel. Altijd met een glimlach. We kregen een fantastische maaltijd zowel in de avond als ‘‘s morgens. Ze gaf ons goeie tips om de omgeving te verkennen. Ze stelde ons voor om een jeepsafari te doen met een privéchauffeur in het park hurulu eco parc. Wat een fantastische ervaring voor een zeer schappelijke prijs. De chauffeur/gids gaf ons een onvergetelijke ervaring. Ik kan dit alleen maar aanraden! Als we ooit nog teruggaan naar Sri Lanka dan kom ik hier zeker terug! ❤️

Everything was great! The view to the rice field is incredible. It’s close to the main road but yet so quiet. It feels in the middle of Nature with so many birds and a few monkeys around. The food was delicious. Our breakfast was fried egg, toast, coconut roti, fruit, fresh juice and sweet crepes. For dinner the host prepared a delicious Sri Lankan curry set, the best we had in Sri Lanka. We loved the host, she was very friendly and helpful giving us good suggestions. We also had two bicycles ready for us on arrival, so we could explore the town straight away. Overall great place.

If anything there were a few ants/insects in the room, but that’s to be expected and nothing to keep us up at night.

Ajouter 10% de service au petit-déjeuner dans un guesthouse est un peu mesquin. Certes cela ne représente que 0,80€ pour 2 mais c’est juste pour le principe.

We arrived for one night, a quick stop on our journey, but decided to explore a little. We hired bicycles from Man Guest and cycled around the canals. It was an absolutely beautiful and unexpected afternoon. We ended up by the lake for sunset. In the evening we watched the bats flying across the paddy fields as the sky grew dark. Our hosts cooked vegetarian food for us.

Wir bekamen sofort Moskitonetze auf Anfrage Leihräder wären möglich (unsere kamen, da wir sehr groß sind und Schalträder wollten, von dem Verleiher, der Nahe des Eingangs zur historischen Stätte liegt ( hatten einen Platten und in 10 min auch ein neues Rad :-) ) Preise sehr fair, Essen hervorragend, tolles Frühstück - meine Diätwünsche wurden voll und ganz individuell erfüllt - vielen lieben Dank dafür- man hat sogar der nächsten Unterkunft erklärt wie man für mich kochen kann 🥰 Sehr ansprechende Zimmer mit guter Ablagemöglichkeit Ruhige Zimmer

Super good location very near to Archeological Site but in a quiet aerea. The rooms have beautiful common balconies with views on rice fields.This is the first really clean room I find in Sri Lanka, they also asked me if I wanted my room made (in other places they do not do it and they do not ask). The couple is perfect: he gave me a transfer at reasonable price to Sigiriya in his free day; she is superefficient and very good cook.. I had dinner there, the best dinner I had in Sri Lanka. They organized an elephant safari for me: I went alone with a driver at 1.30 came back at 8. Super good driver and guide saw lots of elephants. Prices more or less the same that the ones indicated in the Lonely Planet.

Location brilliant, near ships and restaurant’s and 5 minutes to museum for ancient site. Lake also 5 minutes a way, beautiful for stroll by especially as sun sets. View from balcony over rice fields great , especially as there is a bat fly by at 6.30pm, hundreds fill the sky. Also great for watching birds,

Trade off with great view from the end room is wifi very weak , at times nothing and there are 2 air- con extractors on outer wall which go on and off the whole time, found it annoying at night when trying to sleep

Top Unterkunft in traumhafter Lage. Alles sehr gepflegt, Zimmer tiptop sauber. Große Zimmer mit guter Ausstattung und schönem Sitzbereich vor dem Eingang. Die Familie ist so nett und hilfsbereit, sehr angenehm. Optional gibt es auch ein sehr gutes Frühstück. Absolute Empfehlung 🤩
