Reviewed Aug 16, 2026La casa es pintoresca y tenía todo lo necesario en cuanto a menaje y mobiliario.
No lo pasamos bien porque había una tormenta tropical y nos quedamos sin luz. No tenían un inversor que funcionara bien y nos sentimos un poco aislados sin poder cargar y comunicarnos . Pasamos mucho calor por no poder usar los ventiladores.

El ruido de la calle y las personas en horas tempranas de la mañana como 6 o 7 am la gente pasa haciendo ruido y hablando muy alto demasiado temprano.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026Lo que más me gustó del alojamiento fue la limpieza impecable, el ambiente tranquilo que permite descansar bien, y la excelente atención de doña Negra, siempre amable y atenta. Además, la casa está completamente equipada con todo lo necesario, lo que hizo la estadía muy cómoda.
No encontré nada negativo durante mi estadía; todo estuvo excelente y cumplió con mis expectativas.

This is for those who value adventure over comfort. The facilities are okay. The neighbors are welcoming but food they offered was pricey.

Reviewed Aug 4, 2025Sehr sichere Umgebung. Jeder kennt jeden - man braucht keine Angst zu haben. Das Auto kann man unbesorgt vor dem Haus parken. Der Blick aufs Meer ist wunderschön. Gut ausgestattete Küche - man kann problemlos kochen. Es gibt sogar einen Mixer. Viel Seife vorhanden. Sehr schönes Dach aus Palmblättern. Stromausfälle dauern nicht lange. 2 Badezimmer. Sehr nettes Personal. Sauber Am Strand ist das Baden aufgrund der hohen Wellen nicht möglich, aber ruhigere Strände sind ganz in der Nähe. Man darf hier nicht viel Komfort erwarten. Es ist ein typisches Holzhaus ohne Klimaanlage und ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. Ich habe mich bewusst dafür entschieden, damit meine Kinder auch einmal diese Erfahrung machen dürfen. Es gibt überall Deckenventilatoren und einen Standventilator, die für Abkühlung sorgen.
Viele Stufen unterschiedlicher Höhe innerhalb des Hauses - für ältere Menschen oder kleine Kinder nicht geeignet. Am Wochenende extrem laut, da das Haus direkt an der Straße liegt. In der Woche ist es jedoch ruhig. Ich hatte mir die Lage anders vorgestellt. Meine Kinder fanden den Lärm am Wochenende fürchterlich. Harte Betten und Kopfkissen

The area clearly has great potential, but it hasn’t been touched by mass tourism yet — and that’s a huge plus. You need to come with a spirit of adventure, humility, and deep respect for the land and its people. It’s crucial to protect this place so it doesn’t turn into just another overdeveloped tourist spot. If you do that, you might find yourself living a dream, immersed in the rhythm of the local community. Don’t expect luxury — expect something better: the sound of the waves as you fall asleep, a glass of rum on a wild beach, or sharing homemade food with locals who welcome you with a smile. For me, it was magical. But please — come with an open mind, a light footprint, and a respectful heart!

- some doors didn't close properly - Wifi and data from the operator are very slow in this place - there is a lot of trash on the public beach in front of the house - there were big waves and swimming in the sea was dangerous, impossible for children

Reviewed May 16, 2024The house is amazing and cute, right at the beach, with the waves rocking you to sleep, the kitchen is very well equiped and the beds are very comfortable. Negra was very lovely and welcoming as was the whole village, everybody was very nice and helped whereever they could, Negra is amazing and even brought us some mangos and bananas! Already miss the place

Reviewed Mar 22, 2024La Casita de Mary is out of Barahona main town about 25 minutes, for us was perfect because we were in our way to Bahia de las Aguilas and is almost in the exit. Negra was a great host and we had dinner an typical Dominican Breakfast @ Luz restaurant just next door to La Casita.
The bed sheets was clean but HARD and old.
