This property is located in a beautiful part of the country. Central for exploring the whole northern part of Ireland. The property itself is cosy and homely which gave a sense of ease and relaxation. The hot tub and stove in the porch are a lovely addition. It was fabulous to be able to light the stove in the evening and sit in the hot tub enjoying the peace and serenity of the surroundings. Joe checked in with us to make sure that everything was okay and to see if we needed anything. I couldn't praise this property high enough. Its well worth the visit.
There's nothing negative to say about the property.
It's a fantastic lodge with beautiful surroundings. Joe was very helpful and we loved our stay. I'm sure we'll be back!
The lodge is lovely, clean & cosy with everything you need. The location was perfect very remote & peaceful totally, immersed in nature with stunning views . The host was very friendly, entertaining and extremely kind and helpful. This was our 2nd stay here both time for 3 nights and we hope to go back again.
Loved it all
Loved the quiet.it was so clean and comfortable.the whole experience was lovely from start to finish
Can't complaint about any thing
Absolutely stunning little quiet rural spot, the views alone where beautiful. Lovely outdoors wood burner which made our stay as it was raining the 2 days. Special mention to the lovely bonnie (pet) she stayed with us the whole time and even tried to follow us home lol she was a treat to spend time with. Would highly recommend booking, u will not be disappointed!!
Great location, very peaceful and very helpful owner. Warm and comfy inside with comfortable beds. Lovely views over Lough Foyle.
Kitchen only had a small oven and the fridge was fairly small as well so would be difficult for self catering with more than 2 people. Hot water didn't have great pressure.
The location is amazing , the view is beautiful from the living room, the lodge is cosy spacious and clean. Joe is a great host, showed us around the property, was very helpful. Nice trees and flowers, in the garden. The bed was very comfortable. The energy is beautiful around the place. Very inspiring space for artists. We got to see dragonflies around one of the lakes.
We liked everything.
The Retreat Lodge is perfect, organized, clean, the view is wonderful. Wonderful place and in direct contact with nature.
The peace & quiet & stunning scenery
The views where amazing and the cabin itself was incredible
Nothing
Peaceful and perfectly remote, yet connected to Muff, only a short 5 min drive away. Our host was welcoming and kind, making sure we were aware he was only 5 min away at most yet giving us a feeling of privacy etc. The lodge is 15min drive away from Derry City if you feel like having a little explore and there are plenty of things to do.
The front area was a good place to relax with the fire
For the price for 2 nights I would expect a starter package small milk , bread, shower gel. The rest of the facility to the back was a yard that wasn't clean so not a pleasant view. No review states the owner is right next door. Not enough serving plates again for the price it should offer a lot more
Fire and outside area. Clean property. Lovely host
Nothing
Absolutely perfect in every way. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning
The lodge was so comfortable and picturesque, in a really lovely location. It has everything we needed for a self catering stay. Joe was a very friendly and helpful host. We came back from our day out to the lovely stove at the front lit for us. Recommend highly and will definitely be back.
Nothing
This is a beautiful lodge set in the hillside near Muff Co Donegal . It’s very comfortable and easily sleeps 6 people. It’s fully equipped and remains heated day and night which is great for Irish weather! The host is on site and super friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again .
There’s nothing to not like about the lodge. So very minor but a few extra pillows on the beds would ge great if you are used to two pillows!
Seating area out the front with the fireplace and the lovely lighting. The heat of the house. The peaceful location. The thick warm bedclothes. All the lovely things made out of wood.
The dog that barked loudly all through the night. The spiders webs, dirty windows and dirty oven. The WiFi password that was incorrect and not getting any response from the host.
Porch with log burner was a great place to sit and relax.
Very basic cooking facilities and no washing up liquid!
Great spot to get away for a few days and relax. Surrounded by trees and beautiful views there is honestly nothing better. Brilliant host and was very accommodating to any of our needs. I would highly recommend to anyone
Everything. Most beautiful house, in the most beautiful location. Was very very peaceful, and so scenic. We had amazing walks around the grounds , forests and mountains. The beds were massive, and so comfy. The kitchen was spotless, and had enough kitchen utensils for the four of us. I loved the oven, was very handy, I am really tempted to buy one. We didn't go inside much, the weather was glorious, and we had the best porch ever, with alot of seats and cushions, and a hammock, and no matter what direction you faced, you had a view of the forests. So comfortable. And we had a fire, and Joe had left us more than enough logs to keep er lit. The host Joe was an absolute legend. Such an interesting man, with great stories and the voice to match. He played some beautiful tunes, and we will be forever thankful for this. My perfect house in the best location. Will rave about this trip forever.
I have absolutely no complaints. Was perfect.
An excellent weekend at the lodge. Very peaceful place with great scenery

Perfect relax retreat, haven, family get away Feeling like being in nature and very natural surroundings. The owner was so friendly, made us feel at home. Definitely will be back. An amazing find .
Very little to complain about to be honest.
Ideal place to visit for rest and relaxation. Joe is doing something special here and creating an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of daily living. One bite at a time. There is nothing more enjoyable than returning at night and lighting the outdoor stove, cracking open a bottle and taking in the silence of the evening. We even had our own fox visit us for a chat each evening. Overall, a place of peace and tranquillity.
More comfortable mattress for the old weary bones
The Retreat Lodge was exactly what we needed. Cozy, calm & clean space with beautiful views. Joe was so welcoming & knowledgeable of the area. Highly recommend & will definitely be returning.
Location was excellent, view was excellent, the house had all all the necessities. Joe, the host was very nice and hospitable. Fireplace on the covered porch was very nice. Joe always had logs and kindling available if you want to light the fire while drinking a beer on the rocking chair contemplating existence.
The photos make it seem like the house is by itself but it is directly attached to the house beside. It did not cause a problem i just thought it was off by itself.
Absolutely beautiful, had lovely stay the cabin is gorgeous in stunning location. Would recommend staying to everyone.
The whole place has been designed for rest and relaxation. The views are gorgeous, there was so much birdsong and the surrounding trees are refreshing. We especially loved the outdoor area with the stove. We loved staying here.
Nothing!
lovely place friendly host will definitely be back
This lodge is beautiful , warm and cosy .it really has that homely feeling. Joe welcomed us . And had a barrel full of wood for the log burner outside which is gorgeous when it gets dark. Definitely be back again thankyou for a lovely stay.
the views and the outside space
filthy, spider webs everywhere, full of dust and dirt , bathroom unusable (shower and toilet ) everything needed pre cleaned before use ,especially the kitchen tools
The location and views! owner was so helpful and made you feel comfortable and welcomed.
nothing!
cosy, clean very picturesque . the front with the stove was very cute - just aware that if anyone drives into the property they would be looking at you. very helpful hosts though and dog is a bonus!
would have liked to have known the property was attached to the main property. more of a separation like a fence brought out a bit further. option of a curtain on the main window.
Quiet area. Lovely sheltered outdoor seating area with outdoor stove with plenty of fire wood, so relaxing to sit outside at night
I would have preferred an actual oven instead of the mini one but that's a minor thing. Would have liked an extra saucepan or two and a few more utensils like tongs or a whisk or some sharp knives.
everything was amazing
everything I love love how quirky and Modern it is lovely vibes and relaxing just a little bit of paradise in the woods
Lovely hosts, quiet, peaceful location. Great facilties.
2 Adults & 2 Kids - We booked Retreat Lodge for 3 nights and had the best time. The photos really don't do it justice. It was so peaceful and relaxed and the owner Joe and his family who live next door with their 2 friendly dogs couldn't have been anymore helpful. They responded or called In immediately if we had any questions at all and recommended a few great takeaways and places to go during the day with the kids. The kids loved sitting out on the porch at night toasting marshmallows. Such a unique find in Donegal 💚
Everything was perfect.
The perfect location to get away from it all and relax... Lots of beautiful beaches and places to visit nearby! We will definitely be returning to Retreat Lodge!
