High Road Cottage

The host was pleasant and helpful. The cottage was warm and cosy with the fire lit upon our arrival. All facilities were excellent. There was plenty of turf left in for the fire. Beds were clean and comfortable.

Das Cottage liegt in dem kleinen Örtchen Dooagh perfekt zwischen Keel und dem Keem Strand. Man kann von hier direkt ein paar kleine Wanderungen unternehmen und ist schnell an jedem anderen Ort auf der Insel. Das Cottage ist sehr gemütlich mit offenem Kamin (Torf steht zur Verfügung) hinter dem Haus grasen Pferde und in der Einfahrt wird man immer von zwei total lieben Hunden begrüßt. Vor dem Cottage gibt es eine Art Terrasse mit Sitzgelegenheit, von der aus man die Umgebung und auch das Meer sehen kann - total schön!!

The cottage was lovely and clean. It was easy to find and there was nothing that wasn't explained to us. Two double beds in one room and a double bed in the en suite. A travel cot was provided for our baby daughter which meant we didn't have to go to the bother of bringing our own or having to take it home with us. People have mentioned the dogs a lot on here. Someone said it might not be great for someone who doesn't like dogs. I'm not overly keen on other people's dogs but I must say, these were very well behaved. They wandered over for a quick pat now and again but were no bother. It was funny hearing them bark at the tyres when you started up the engine. I've stayed in a house on Achill where the dog tried to come inside, barked endlessly at the door and we had to keep telling the owner to come and get it. We also had to deal with opening the door to find it had 💩 on the step only for my daughter to walk it into the house. There WAS NONE of that with these doggies. They're quiet and respectful. Well trained.

Unfortunately there's no washer and drier, which for a family for a week isn't great but that's on me for not checking before I booked. My son is very disabled and goes through clothes very quickly. We handwashed in the shower and put on radiators. No bath was also not great for me because I'm disabled and get a lot of pain that only heat will help. Again, this is on me and I shouldn't have booked without checking. Nobody is obligated to provide a bath. One thing I will say, I had no neck dislocations or severe headaches whilst sleeping in the cottage. As soon as I came home they returned! So clearly my pillow is in need of an upgrade. There was no vacuum cleaner or brush and we make a lot of crumbs with our toddler and younger son eating toast. I would have liked to clean as we went.

Nice small cottage comfortable for large small family. Great location to beaches and cliffs for wonderful Achil experience! Must book property if you are looking for all near by experiences.

Spiders and web, bit of scary for kids, but ok to clean .

We loved Aoife's cottage. She was so nice and welcoming and responsive. The cottage was spotless, really comfy and located exactly where we wanted to be for our trip. If she will have us back, we will definitely be booking again!

Mi è piaciuto il fatto che il cottage fosse in una posizione strategica, vicina all'oceano, e tutto fosse raggiungibile in meno di un'ora a piedi. Mi è piaciuta l'atmosfera calma e pacifica. Mi è piaciuta la disponibilità e gentilezza dell'host a preoccuparsi del nostro viaggio di ritorno, il fatto che ci abbia accompagnato in auto fino alla prima fermata dell'autobus disponibile e di aver aspettato con noi.

L'unica cosa che non siamo riusciti a far funzionare è stato il camino, perché purtroppo non c'era la legna necessaria per poterlo mantenere acceso per tutta la notte.

Kachelofen mit eigenen Torf für gemütliche Abende, zwei Bäder mit Dusche und WC, Schafe direkt vor der Haustür und zwei super liebe Hunde. Ausstattung mit allem was man braucht (Handtücher, Shampoo, Küchenutensilien etc.) und falls einem etwas fehlt, sind die sehr lieben Gastgeber immer erreichbar und hilfsbereit. Sehr kurzer Fußweg zum Strand und super zentrale Ausgangslage, um Achill Island zu erkunden

Meckern auf hohem Niveau: die Einrichtung ist etwas pragmatisch, was vielleicht bei längeren Aufenthalten ein bisschen an Gemütlichkeit fehlen lässt, was uns jetzt aber für einen kurzen Aufenthalt nicht gestört hat, wir haben uns trotzdem sehr wohl gefühlt.

Guter Rückzugsort. Einwandfreies WLAN. Angenehm ruhig und friedlich. Alles ausnahmslos vorhanden, was ich für meinen 10-tägigen Aufenthalt brauchte. Die Sauberkeit und Hygiene wird grossgeschrieben. Freundliche Eigentümer. Alles in allem perfekt. Dankeschön:)

Loved the history of the cottage and it was super comfortable, great location close to Keel Beach and Keem, the owners are so helpful, we couldn't ask for more. We would highly recommend it.

Great location for exploring the island we had been to achill before and love staying in dooagh as close to both keem and keel beaches and lots of walking And walking distance to lourdies (literally 2 mins) and gieltys And only few mins drive to keel with plenty of options in summer time House was clean and open fire was nice on the evenings it was chilly

Place was so comfy and well kitted out. Aoife was very engaging and most helpful.

Amazing layout, this place had everything we needed. Location was ridiculous, so close to everything right in the center of town but a small little town that is so peaceful! Just minutes from the most beautiful beach! Obsessed with the fireplace! Side note, my daughter was so in love with the doggies outside that she Wanted to never leave! Made me do a photo shoot with them and her to remember them always! ;)

The host was absolutely generous and kind. Completely thorough and explained everything to us. The kitchen had everything we needed and we have nothing negative to say! Very very comfortable and happy!

Really enjoyed our stay, the owner Aoife was very welcoming and checked in to ensure everything was good with the cottage. As I was travelling with my mum who has mobility issues the cottage was perfect and easy access throughout. It felt like a home away from home. Will definitely be going back. Thanks again Aoife ☺️

One little thing, be a good idea to mention on booking that there are dogs on the property. We were happy with them, they were very friendly but just incase anyone would have an issue.

Host Aoife was very helpful in lead up to our visit providing very clear instructions on how everything in the house worked and also was available to help very quickly when I couldn't figure out the TV worked. Would definitely recommend this place and I will be checking it's availability any time I go to Achill in the future

Perfect cottage right beside the atlantic ocean. Quiet, very clean and the added bonus of a real fire to make it even more cosy. I will definitely be back!

Beautiful cosy cottage, fantastic location, stunning turf burning fire and two new four legged friends! Wondeful power showers, very comfortable beds and walking distance to shop / pub

Disappointed in some facilities: 4 small towels left between 4 people for 3 nights having advertised towels, the host did contact me re towels but only on the second night which felt late and unprepared, only 4 rolls of toilet roll left for 4 people for 3 nights, we ended up having to replenish ourselves, two bathrooms but only one with handsoap, no mop to clean floors, sharp knives in the kitchen with paint scraping off, found myself picking paint out of food, no instructions for tv/wifi, no instructions for bins. No "Atlantic views" from any window. This review is certainly not to put people off however I think the house could go that extra mile for the price they charge. Some improvements needed for sure.

The house was very comfortable and clean .The host was so helpful and friendly. Just a few minutes from beach ..The seating area outside was beautiful, I loved sitting out having a coffee listening to the waves. It's a little piece of heaven. Highly recommend, il definitely be back .

A lovely renovated, cottage. We were very comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed. Aoife gave us great information about local restaurants, and was on hand if we had any questions.

Location is absolutely perfect, Aoife was a brilliant host, fire was set up on arrival. Dogs are a friendly welcome!

Aoife was the perfect hostess, nothing was an issue and she was more than accommodating.

Self catering

We were nervous about injuring the dogs when we got in our car, 2 collies running around the car attacking the wheels when we left or arrived. We found it difficult to locate from road but Aoife came to our rescue and guided us around the back lane
