Cheerful Cottage

Nice bright living room, lots of kitchen equipment (we like to cook), and very comfortable beds. Owners were exceptionally welcoming.

Staircase to upper floor is very steep.

A beautiful and very spacious cottage, really comfortable for our family of four. Great decor and really well appointed. Excellent location, easy walking to Quay with cafes, bars and restaurants. Lovely local beaches, we had a fabulous stay. Would love to come again, any season.

The Cottage actually gives the feel of a countryside house. Very lovely and cozy. All the amenities were provided. Got a bottle of wine as a welcome gift from the owner which was a surprise for us. The cottage is in very peaceful location.

Everything was good with the place.

The cottage is very comfortable and you feel at home instantly. Gerry is a great host and met us at the cottage as we arrived. The location is perfect for enjoying Westport quay and the rest of Mayo.

It's a beautiful cozy cottage in a great location. Walking distance to the Quays bar and town.

Probably the nicest property I have stayed at. We loved everything about this property. Great communication with the owner in advance. The host was so friendly when we arrived. House was very cosy and welcoming, candles were lit and lights were on. We were delighted to find that tea bags, coffee, sugar and milk were in rhe house and even a bottle of wine. Loads of kitchen items. Plenty of hot water and heating. Fire could be lit and loads of firewood was provided. Board games and books were also available and local tourist information. Beds and duvets were very comfortable.

It’s a little far to walk in to Westport which might not suit some people

We enjoyed the hearty fire Gerry had going for us when we arrived and the fully equipped kitchen. Gerry took the time to greet us and ensure we had a most comfortable stay. We found the cottage decor delightful and the location is superb. Next time we must book a table at the nearby Cronin's Sheebeen- menu looked great and the pub had a lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed walks on our doorstep and on the nearby beaches. Westport is a real favourite for its characterful streets and beautiful seascapes. Beautiful cottage, morning birdsong, a great welcome- we couldn't ask for more.

Welcoming atmosphere

We appreciate that the cottage was clean and tidy and comfortable. And thanks to Gerry for accepting our three dogs. Note there was plenty of room in the cottage for a family. Also, our host had milk in the fridge and a bottle of wine as a welcome. The location was brilliant to travel around Mayo. With a number of beaches close by. Also, a short walk to the Harbour location with a number of shops, coffee, and food was a short walk away. We are already looking forward to staying in the Cheerful Cottage again. Owners were easy to deal with and very nice. Cottage is very clean and tidy. Beds were very comfortable and the interior of the cottage is beautiful and very cosy.

The cottage was a bit far out of town for our purposes, however it was quite easy to get taxis in and out.

Host was in the house at the time so all very simple. Location is excellent and you feel like out in the country when only couple of mins from harbour and services. Well equipped house with all mod cons for a visitor.

The location, the house was lovely.

No locks on toilet doors or bedroom doors also very cold even with fire lit but weather was cold also, the only door that closed and locked properly was the front door, I couldn't lock the back door cos key wouldn't turn fully in lock.

Really spacious and comfortable house. The weather was frightful while we were there so it was lovely to come back to a warm cosy house with a wood burning stove. Well equipped kitchen. Good parking outside and pet friendly. Having 2 of the 4 bedrooms ensuite was great.

Beautiful cottage within easy walking distance of Clew Bay. The cottage is very cosy with plenty of room for us and our dog. We were greeted by Gerry and taken through how everything worked. The fire had already been lit and a lovely bottle of wine left for us. There was milk in the fridge, plenty of tea and coffee and a very well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the water-pressure in the showers excellent. We had a drink in the Shebeen and ate at the Creel and the Helm. Great walks for our dog from the cottage too. We would love to go back soon.

Cottage was in a great location for us and we didn't have far to travel to any of our planned events. We loved the house and the Cosy feel it was clean and tidy and comfy.

We traveled with our dogs and found the open garden a little restricting as we had to keep a close eye on them at all times. It wasn't that much of a big deal we just adapted. Being able to bring the dogs to such a lovely home makes it worth it.

Beautiful property, plenty of space, comfortable and clean. Can’t wait to come back to Ireland and stay here again!

A very convenient location and an easy walk to the quay and Westport. Spacious accommodation tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and good facilities.

A manual with useful informant would have been helpful. Also a sign at the front saying Cheerful Cottage would be a good addition.

Great property, kids loved it, we loved it, dog friendly which is a huge plus. Really spacious, everyone had their own room and bathroom.

What a fabulous place, we absolutely loved our stay here. Gerry, the host was superb, the fire was lit and a bottle of wine met us non arrival. This place is a proper treat

Very comfortable. Didn’t feel like a holiday home. Very well equipped. A lot of thought had clearly gone into furnishing and decorating. Location was quiet while within short distance of all amenities.

Lovely period house. Immaculate and tastefully decorated period house with all mod cons. 2 en suite bedrooms and two smaller bedrooms with single bed(s). Perfect for a family. Outside deck is also an excellent addition. 3+ km to town centre but walking to the Quay where there are many bars and excellent restaurants. Highly recommended.

Great location and comfortable accommodation. When we arrived after a stormy drive from the east the stove was already lit and heating was on, which was very well received. Friendly hosts too.

Comfortable living space and bedrooms. The kitchen was well equipped and we were very happy to have 3 bathrooms. The host was very kind and gave us a very warm welcome!

This was a beautiful, stylish and cosy house. The owner was so welcoming. She had the fire lighting, candles lighting and a bottle of wine waiting. The cottage itself is beautifully presented and very tastefully decorated. We all agreed , it is one of the nicest homes we ever rented and we will definitely be back. PS thank you for welcoming our dog Nero...he loved sleeping on the rug in front of the fire x Lastly..should have said..top location. 150m to the closest pub..

Beautiful cottage in a great location just a five minute drive from the centre of Westport town. The beds were very comfortable. The cottage is tastefully decorated and the open plan living area is large. Fire was lit on arrival and a complimentary bottle of wine made us feel very welcome. Everything you need for a very comfortable stay is provided. We would love to come back some other time.
