Reviewed Sep 2, 2026The house is cute and cozy but with plenty of space for myself and two daughters. A very quiet location with lovely ocean views. It was exceptionally clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower perfect and the bath was a great addition. In short if you're looking for a retro beach house in a quiet neighbourhood, then this is the house for you. Many thanks to our hosts.
We loved it all. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer, but hopefully it will be available when we next come this way.

Deborah has been awesome to communicate with and her attention to detail is amazing, so many little extras that make a place special! The garden is also lovely! Reviewed Jan 10, 2026Amazing views, lots of extra touches like fresh flowers and herbs and lovely and clean. Had everything you needed in the kitchen and comfy bed. Nice and close to beach. Amazing outdoor bath - much larger than it looks in the photos. Highly recommend the local Riverton cafes and Orepuki Beach cafe and the Little Red Caboose art gallery near Gemstone beach. Lots of lovely places to walk.

Reviewed Dec 3, 2025Beautiful location, views and the decor of the house was a really charming beach vibe. House was exceptionally clean and easy to access via a lock box. The living room area and bathroom are quite small but the bedrooms are generous and comfortable with deluxe cotton bedding. Kids loved the little room in the back with the 2 single beds in it. It had a small deck overlooking the beach (a 2 minute walk away) and a private hot tub (the kind you fill, without jets) which was bliss. Kitchen was well equipped and included tea/coffee/small milk. House had a BBQ and washing machine as well. Owners are next door and introduced themselves and were happy to help if you needed anything. Town is a short drive away. No big supermarket so bring your food in with you. We visited Te Hiikoi museum and ate at the Aparima restaurant- both excellent. There are great long beach walks and a playground barely a 5 minute walk away.

Great communication with Deborah. We came in winter (a particularly rainy weekend so unfortunately didn’t make much use of the deck) but this would be a lovely spot in summer.

Reviewed May 22, 2024This is a home way from home. It has everything you need to live comfortably. The views from the lovely deck are so interesting and calming. We loved our stay and would come again in the warmer weather. The beach walk is 3 minutes away and just super.

You can find all you need to make you feel like home, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. It has a very beautiful garden and a hot tub that you can enjoy. I would definitely recommend this place!! Hope to return soon :)

Reviewed Apr 20, 2023We loved this little bach by the sea- perfect for our family of 6. Easy walk to the beach with fantastic sea views. Daughter loved the outdoor bath too. Awesome seeing the old photos of it being built!
Everything was great, absolutely no complaints. Not a complaint but just mentioning it could do with a few more bowls. We seemed to run out at meal times. Also another clothes horse would be handy as we ran out of drying space due to the short clothesline & only one horse.

Reviewed Apr 5, 2023A beautiful home away from home, with all facilities provided. You have a great view overlooking the bay and to watch the sunrise each morning. A deck, also overlooks the sea and is an ideal spot to enjoy a glass & nibbles. The friendly hosts (Deborah & Ross) came and checked that everything was okay and helped with our queries. The surrounding area is picturesque and well worth exploring. We would definitely recommend Pura Vida by the Sea.
That we only had 2 nights there.

The fact that my partner had had surgery on his had and teeth and wanted to relax and sleep. As he had not slept in 15 hours. Someone come onto the property and started moving lawns. We also ran out of hot water in the morning. We had one hot tub and one shower. Was pretty gutted. I'd expect peace and quiet. Or verification that someone was coming to mow lawns ECT.
