The experience of staying in an Irish thatched cottage which we never did before. It was clean and comfortable and close to Malin head area.
Possibly the tv if we were there for longer.
It’s a cute little cottage, old world feel with modern convenience. Great central location for sights. Gerard was great!! Making sure the fire stayed lit!
Ein wirklich charmantes Häuschen, indem uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Die Scones, die Gerard für uns gebacken hat, waren ein Gedicht, genauso wie das Apfelgelee und die Butter.
Historical quaint and comfortable cottage ideally situated
Nothing to not love
Beautiful cottage with amazing stone floors, comfortable beds and a great fire Location is perfect for exploring the local coastline by car or for walking into the village in 5 minutes
Lovely little house. Perfect base for local attractions. Ger was very helpful and a great host.
Cute cottage. And the delicious homemade jam and scones.
Authentic cottage, fresh, comfortable bed, short drive to beach, close to pub and restaurant. Home baked scones on arrival. There were plenty of fresh towels. Stayed with husband and my 2 young children. We all loved our weekend break.
Gérard was an amazing host, he had us in stitches with his stories. The first day he brought us homemade scones and apple jelly which was amazing! He told us where the best places to eat are and sent me links to the places we wanted to go. A truly amazing gentleman and we will definitely be back again.
That we didn't book it for longer!
Traditional and comfortable. Easy to cook for a family of five. Host was absolutely amazing, very kind with welcoming treats on arrival and ensuring heat was kept on throughout our stay. Location is ideal for exploring Inishowen peninsula.
A fantastic thatched cottage in the heart of the Inishowen Peninsula. Genuinely authentic with all the modern amenities you need. Ger was a fantastic host who related the history of the cottage and supplied homemade scones and jam along with honey from his own bees. The fire was lit on arrival and Ger returned the following day to light it again and empty the ashes. He also regaled us with amusing stories and assured us he was only a phone call away if we had any issues. We didn't but nice to know. We have stayed in many cottages in this area and this one is definitely a real taste of times past. We would highly recommend and will definitely return.
Delightful cottage. A step back in time with a modern day comfort. Warm cosy and so relaxing. Host was very welcoming and warm. Provided with a welcome hamper which was a lovely gesture. Homemade scones and Jam. Delicious. Fire was lit when we arrived which was much appreciated and added to the cosy atmosphere. Situated just a short walk from Carndonagh and close to all amenities. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Very little.
A wonderful reminder of Ireland long ago. Beautiful cosy little cottage and Ger had the fire lit when we arrived. He also supplied homemade scones and jam which was so wonderful. He arrived on the second evening to ensure all was right with the fire - very attentive. Would recommend a stay. Walking distance from the town and a short drive from some beautiful locations.
This lovely home was a perfect and cozy place for us during our visit to the area. The host was great at communicating, warm and inviting, and provided us great tips for things to see and places to eat. Each recommendation was spot on for us, and our interest. We look forward to returning again in the future.
Ger was a great host who made us homemade scones and jam, which were delicious. He even had the fire lit for our arrival. Beds were very comfortable. The cottage is only a short distance from the town. Beautiful Culdaff beach about a 10-15 minutes drive away. We also enjoyed meeting the little goats nextdoor- the farmer was nice enough to show my 4 year old the new baby kid goat getting her bottle. Lovely memories overall.
Cute thatch cottage, good location for exploring area...attentive host
All fine
Our host, Ger, was very welcoming and helpful. We found the stove on and a basket full of homemade goodies waiting for us. Tigín Tuí is a small traditional cottage and a great location to explore the Inishowen peninsula. Our dog enjoyed the Donegal break and the traditional atmosphere that radiates from these stone walls. Ger went above and beyond to advise us of the best places to visit. We would definitely go back!
The bed with the wrought iron frame could be updated. Some signage or mention of the wall with red capping, might help find the property.
EVERYTHING This is my second time to stay in this cosy cottage. Gerard rang me to say the cottage was ready and the fire was lit which was very welcome as it was raining. The location is perfect and not far from Carndonagh town. Gerard even left us a jar of honey and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We are looking at dates to book again during the summer.
Nothing of significance but maybe think about changing the pillows.
TigínTuí is an exceptional traditional cottage in the Inishowen peninsula. It was our second time staying at the property. It is warm, comfortable and well equipped for a family using it as a base to explore the surrounding area. The host Gerard is very Friendly and helpful.
It was a really beautiful place, a lovely feeling of stepping back in time. The fire was lit on arrival which was amazing after a long trip. The host was so helpful and dropped in lots of treats that we all enjoyed. A real beautiful part of Ireland and an incredible host.
Host was very helpful and informative cottage and location perfect 🥰
Cosy cottage in Carndonagh. Good location for exploring Inishowen. Host was welcoming and gave good tips on places to eat. Good advice on walking in area. Doagh Famine Village worth visiting. Lovely scones on arrival
Authentic feel of a traditional cottage. Welcoming and knowledgeable host who also makes very delicious scones and jam! Possibly one of the best hosts in Donegal
Traffic noise but that couldn't be helped. We got used to it
Great location, very friendly and knowledgeable host. The cottage is beautiful with a lovely neighbour who has the most fun, amusing goats to watch while having your coffee. You have the country feel living, yet close enough you could walk to the village for those who don't have a car.
Nothing I didn't like
Loved the old world charm , yet it had everything you needed for a great stay . Gerard bringing home baked scones on arrival was a great treat . Will be back
nothing
I must say that from booking to departure and all in between I am left with nothing but good things to say about the host, property and personal touch that I feel I’ve not experienced at any other property or hotel I’ve stayed in before. Gerard went far beyond what is expected from a host. Gerard met us upon arrival with a warm basket of freshly baked scones along with butter, milk and homemade jam, however to my absolute surprise Gerard had rang just as we set off from our home 3 hours away and we discussed arrival time etc and I explained we planned to stop in letterkenny for some food before heading on up to the cottage, Gerard went and took time out of his busy day to text me some recommendations along with directions as to places we could stop along the way due to as he explained long delays in letterkenny due to roadworks. We we arrived at the cottage Gerard arrived and to my absolute amazement he told us the story of the cottage which took my breath away having not knowing how historic it was when booking, I sat each night in the living room thinking back of all those who have crossed its door way throughout the years and felt at home. I have nothing but good things to say about all of it and could write so much more of how the host looks after the guests and the cottage itself. A truely memorable few days and one I am privileged to have experienced. Thank you so much Gerard I am already looking at booking a return trip and I probably will for many many years to come that is how good our experience was. You are a credit to humanity well done you
Nothing, at first I thought oh god there’s no tv but that just added to the authenticity of this truely historic cottage
The landlord was accessible, welcoming and helpful. The property was very much to our expectation and as described.
Everything was satisfactory.
There was no breakfast included. However our host Gerard was very kind to have scones baked on arrival and homemade jam, a lovely welcome. He also arrived during the day to light the fire for us and gave us a history of his cottage.
There are absolutely no negative comments about our stay.
Quaint and cosy cottage, good base for surrounding beaches and attractions
Nothing
Everything from arrival to Departure was delightful.
Notging
Traditional thatch roof cottage oozing with charm Super comfy beds Owner, Gerard made us feel welcome, lit our fire and gave us a basket of homemade scones and jam Large garden area for kids to play Close to beaches and town centre
Beautiful thatched cottage with half door. Location was great as it wasn’t far from the town and has friendly neighbours. Gerard had fresh scones and jam ready for us when we arrived and everything you’d need for your stay was on site. We will be coming back for sure.
Nothing
Wonderful host, the fresh scones on arrival was a lovely touch
Very friendly owner with great knowledge of the area and advice where to visit
Property could have been cleaner eg found piece of used chewing gum on our beside table. Bathroom cleanliness not what it should be - eg used face wipe beside the wash hand basin
Open fire lit on arrival was awesome
Nothing
The cottage is perfect for a cosy getaway. Everything you could possibly need in a tiny space. Gerard went above and beyond to make our stay special. He really cares for the property and the experience his guests have there. We felt very welcome and at home right away.
Honestly there were no disappointments, the only thing I would note is there isn't an oven. The gas stove top was more than enough for us. There's also a microwave, kettle and toaster. Plenty of pots, crockery and cutlery.
A beautifully cosy cottage with an incredible host. Greeted to the warmth of a fire in the hearth, homemade jam and scones right out of the oven. My son adored the spacious bunk bed. Will definitely stay again.
Great stay at Tigin Tui. Location was perfect, close to many beaches and walking distance to the town. Host was very welcoming with home made treats and local info. Would happily stay again!
Cute little old cottage, owner was fantastic, left some delicious homemade food on the table for us, was friendly and offered to give us lifts around the area, if we needed it. If I were to stay in Donegal again, I would stay here, the owner made sure the experience was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Everything. From the welcome received and home made scones and jam to the attentive daily visits to keep the fire lit while we were out to the tips and help on sightseeing
We had the most enjoyable stay in Tigín Tuí, close to the Town of Carndonagh, also very accessible to wonderful beaches, Culdaff, Pollin Bay, Lagg and Malin head. Gerard was a delightful host, even had the fire lit everyday so the cottage would be nice a warm when we returned from our days adventure. Would recommend to 2 couples or a family for a genuine Inishowen experience.
Great and very helpful host ,warm fire and scones to greet us.
Hard to say,
gorgeous cosy cottage only a stones throw from the local town
Beautiful cottage. Gerard met us with gorgeous scones & jam. My 5 year daughter loved the bunk bed & all the lovely decorations. Couldn’t fault this property at all
Advise, get rid of brown chair in living room. Its all ripped & scrapped the floor when it was moved (very minor & picky negative)
Great traditional cottage with modern cons. The host was great at giving advice on places to visit and his welcome home made scones and jam were a nice touch..
Honestly enjoyed every part of the stay at Tigin Tui. Host was an incredibly lovely person. Told us the history of house and surrounding areas. Also very knowledgeable of local attractions, restaurants and areas of interest for our family. Host also lit fire and completely took care of this throughout the stay, and freshly baked scones jam and honey were an amazing and tasty guesture. Couldn't recommend staying here enough.
Nothing.
great host & very warm welcome with freshly bakes scones, homemade jam and honey !! the cottage is close to Malin Head & Five Finger Strand (amazing beach !!) we fully recommend it.
