Staying in an operating lighthouse in the wild bits of Ireland is an absolutely amazing experience. It was cozy and relaxing.
Cell signal is not great and WiFi is not provided, while that did allow us to fully disconnect, it was a bit challenging at times when we wanted to plan our outings and find food options. We absolutely managed though!
We made our own breakfast with our own provisions, which was fine.... and we were spoiled with the beautiful scenery and shore line.
We loved our stay in the apartment which was lovely. Then we walked along the country roads and shore line every evening, which we both enjoyed very much.
The Tory room was fabulous. Rustic and awesome as a 200 year old lighthouse can be. It is self catering so don’t forget to stop in Letterkenny for some provisions. I like stay here over and over and over.
A truly special place.Everything from start to finish was really lovely
self catering
nothing whole stay was brilliant
We had an absolutely amazing stay here. We stayed in Dunree View and the views were absolutely stunning. The cottage was so warm and cosy and was really well equipped. We really enjoyed our complementary tour of the lighthouse too. The staff were so friendly and went over and above for us, we can’t thank them enough. Highly recommend and we can’t wait to come back!
Nothing, everything was outstanding!
Isolation from the digital rat race
All good.
The location has no TV or WIFI.. Total unplugged relaxation.
Stayed in inish traul cottage. It's a beautiful cottage. Very comfortable and cosy. Amazing views from all the windows of the wild Atlantic ocean and a view of the lighthouse from the bedroom window. Cottage decorated beautifully too and bed was very comfy. Bathroom was modern with a shower and bath.Kitchen was well supplied with utensils and other bits. The fact that there is no TV or WiFi made it more enjoyable. I did manage to have minimal 4g in some spots but wasn't needed with the amazing views. Perfect getaway to recharge, switch off and relax. Tour of lighthouse which is free was also entertaining..
There was nothing I didn't like only that I couldn't stay longer 😂 Only advice I would have is to bring supplies of food. Tea coffee and sugar are supplied.
Excellent location seeped in history, very comfortable and peaceful and we had great fun with the fright at the light for Halloween. Had a lovely tour of the lighthouse on the day we left. The tour guide was knowledgeable and stayed on when one of the kids wouldn't go up the stairs and waited for me after the rest of the tour came down. Had a great stay
Everything was perfect
Our stay at the lighthouse exceeded our expectations staff were so friendly and helpful and the house was beautiful .
The peace and quiet.
No shops nearby for groceries and no restaurants open through the week.
Everything!
Nothing...... it was excellent
Amazing views and excellent staff. So friendly and welcoming
That I could only stay 2 nights
It is a magical amazing place and can’t wait to go back the lighthouse tour and VR was an added bonus.
There’s nothing we didn’t like
Amazing location and the cottage was lovely and very comfortable.
The property was spotless The location breathtaking A once in a lifetime experience Highly recommend
Fantastic place - one for the bucket list
The location was perfect isolated and remote which is what we wanted The accommodation was excellent bedrooms either end of the accommodation which allowed for privacy The wood stove was superb and once going was so so warm and cosy The scenery was outstanding with a complimentary tour of the lighthouse Due to its location you should bring supplies of food and drink etc The staff were super friendly and helpful and should we require anything there was always someone available Our wee dog oscar also loved it I can't recommend this place enough and have shared all our photos with friends and family who are now thinking of booking We will definitely be back
Nothing
Better than expected, really clean and cosy stay! Staff were lovely!
The keys were handed over when we arrived. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The location is absolutely amazing and the accommodation is a little patch of luxury. No wifi or tv allows life to slow down and become unplugged. This trip was the break that I didn't realise how much I needed, totally stress free and just total relaxation. I will definitely be back, only back and missing it already.
nothing.

Amazing location and incredible tour by John who came in on his day off to tell us all about the local history. It made our trip!!
The property really could benefit from wifi and tv- it was made clear neither were available but to attract families and remote workers both would be needed. Also would be good to offer a hamper for extra cost and leave basics like milk and bread as we didn’t know all stores and local eateries were closed.
Isolated location to get away from it all
It would be hard to find any negative points about this beautiful location. But the bathroom space between the toilet and the bath/shower was narrow and the door was in an awkward position opening against the wash handbasin.
The views are amazing
Staff were great . The tour with Eoin was brilliant And John the caretaker was a world of information.
great location
we were not prepared for how remote the location … if we had known we would have bought groceries on our way to the property… and eaten our evening meal prior to arrival… just a bit more communication would have made a huge different… how to turn on heat, hot water… once turned in all good.
Location is amazing. Property is very comfortable and the people on site are really friendly and helpful.
Nothing to not like. However, you do need to come prepared by buying provision before arrival as local shops and pub were closed for first 2 days of our visit.
Loved everything about this place!!
Everything was perfect!
Beeing in a lighthouse in a storm. Wow!
Spectacular Iconic location. Fantastic tour included in the booking price. Toasty warm on cold windy days. Washing machine a bonus!
Small bed that has seen better days. Could do with an upgrade to a modern mattress
it was beautiful you could see the sea out of every window
nothing it was perfect
Fanad lighthouse is a very special place in Donegal. We felt so welcomed from the very start of our booking until our departure. We had everything we needed for our stay, and John gave us great tips on the local restaurants and bars as well as a hidden gem of a beach close by. We would highly recommend staying in this unique place.
An extraordinary location - with amazing views of the beautiful Donegal coastline. It is a real privilege to spend time here. The accommodation is cosy, well appointed and very comfortable. I stayed in the Dunree cottage - suitable for one person or a couple.
just as expected. clean and quaint.
nothing
Exceptional location with a great view on the ocean and the mountains
Far away from any facilities (shops...) especially during winter as the local pub is closed at this period of the year.
The Lighthouse itself and history around it. Also the surrounding areas and view from the Lighthouse was just amazing.
WOW....... unbelievable scenery. Great facilities. Really warm - even without the log burner lit. Loved it.
views are amazing and a beautiful quiet and relaxing place
Such a beautiful and peaceful location with stunning scenery.
