La Casa Escondida

Excellent B&B in the midst of a forest, close to the airport. Accommodation and host were enchanting and airport transfer was pure gold.

Nothing.

Mauricio is exceptional Close location to the airport

Alles in allem top.

Nichts.

Amazing place. Honestly didn't want to leave.... Mauricio is just awesome. A great host, with knowledge for days!!! The bed was great, the facilities too. The location is wonderful, dont be put off as you head up towards an army base - this whole area is amazingly secluded and beautifully rustic and hand-built. Not 15mins from Punta Arenas town centre.

Nothing!

Very unusual - lovely stove fires. Furniture handmade

We stayed for one night as a layover between flights. The airport drop off and pick up service was great!

The most captivating part of our stay was the host, Mauricio. He let us know right from the start that we should treat the place as our home AND made us feel so welcome. The entire stay was well above expectations. I actually felt we did not pay anywhere near what the experience was worth. Charming facility, gracious accomodations!

Can't think of a thing.

First of all: Mauricio will be the kindest and most genuine person you will meet on your trip to Chile (Patagonia) or even in your life. He has such a light-hearted way of looking at life, his simplicity, genuineness and friendliness captivated us right away. We were the only guests at the time because it was already the end of the season, and we had the wonderful experience of having the entire cabin available, we felt at home. The kitchen was available, the fireplace was so cozy, the decoration with photos of Patagonia and indigenous people was magnificent, it was the only place where we felt that the decoration made sense. The cabin is in the city, but as soon as you enter the gate (very easy to find), you are immediately immersed in the middle of Nature. It is a true refuge, the view from the window is beautiful with all those trees and we slept super warm! The shower has the best water pressure we experienced during our trip and the water was super hot! Everything was super clean, we simply loved everything. Mauricio was always concerned about whether we were okay, if we were cold, if we needed anything. We loved chatting with him, he has a huge culture and knows very interesting topics to talk about. He woke up so early (4am...), made us breakfast and took us to the airport, all with great energy, always in a good mood!!! We would have liked to have stayed longer, to still be talking to Mauricio - we miss him already! Gracias Mauricio, te esperamos en Portugal ❤️

Splendid warm cozy lodge/log cabin like building with personal service, convenient location close to airport for last day / first day in Punta Arenas area, excellent meals. ATM very nearby too.

Very close to the airport and got a ride to and from.

That I couldn't stay longer.

Everthing!!! We are world travelers and have been fortunate to stay in some amazing places. The accomadations are as presented..clean, rustic and comfortable. What sets this apart is the proprietor. He picked us up very late from the airport, asked a closed airport snack bar to serve us food as we hadn't eaten all day and then served us breakfast extra early and drove us to the bus station for the 1st bus out in the morning. Our experience trancends the word service and made this a truly memorable experience!

Nothing!

rustic quiet location. Nice Cabin in the woods close to air[ort

food was basic but ok, no signage at enterance off road until into the woods - needed google maps

Picked up at night from airport and dropped of next morning to get rental car. Very quit cabin. Great cooked breakfast.

What I liked the most about La Casa Escondida was Mauricio, the man who managed everything on the property. He was very friendly and very helpful. In fact I would say he is the most thoughtful person I’ve ever in encountered in a hotel.

We liked everything about the property.

Loved the cabin. . We were in main cabin with a sitting area, dining area with several guest rooms. The steak dinner was excellent. Mo was a wonderful host. We had to be at airport for 130 am. At first we were going to drop the car off the day before and Mo was going to pick us up from car rental station at airport and then drop us off at 130 am before flight. We ended up just keeping car until our flight left but I was so impressed that Mo was willing to pick us up and then drop us off. Mo was willing to make us breakfast before we left for airport and I am sure it would have been excellent. We didnt want to bother him that early. H e was already up when we were leaving for airport just to say thank you for staying with them. Just a wonderful gentleman.

I didnt like that there was no sign at the turn off of the road but google maps found it.

The family running the accommodation is very friendly and helpful. They are approachable for any questions and even provide pickup/drop-off service to the airport. The served breakfast is delicious and a good start into a day full of adventures in Patagonia

Wonderful location, homeliness, host

Be aware you can only pay in cash in Euros or USD (and can’t take either out at an atm) so a faff Wifi doesn’t reach the rooms

Nice and quiet and friendly helpful owners

Our host Marucio was a delight! We enjoyed his company and conversation very much. He took great care to make us comfortable.

Some may not like the distance from town but we loved the wooded property.

This was a great space to stay! The staff was extremely nice and accommodating, including shuttles to town and were eager to help with anything we might have asked for

Would have been nice to be walking distance to town but that isn’t a big deal. The shower was a little small

Paradise hidden in the forest with a very nice staff.

Such a cozy place, beautiful woodwork, Mauricio is a great and friendly host. Both the optional dinner and the included breakfast were excellent.

Not a whole lot. Maybe a sign on the road?

The installation is unusual and very cosy. The rooms are comfortable and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Nothing

The location was great, 10 minutes or so from the airport, also near the pier starting point for the penguin tour. It was a private several acres with beautiful trees. No road or airport noise. Also Mauricio was amazingly friendly, helpful and responsive!!

Mauricio was waiting for us at the airport when we arrived. He drove us to the beautiful home in the woods where we were staying. The property is just beautiful with trees and seclusion and quiet very pretty. He made sure we were very comfortable in our room and served us a beautiful dinner of Chilean Seabass. In the morning, he made us a delicious breakfast and drove us back to the airport. You couldn’t ask for a better host the Mauricio.

Our stay was perfect

The view of the forest from the room was exceptionally beautiful. The property was well decorated. The staff was courteous and helpful. The location is quiet. The breakfast served in the morning was exceptional.

The presence of the overseer was slightly overbearing. There was no wifi in the rooms - we had to come to the living room to get wifi. The property is far way from downtown, restaurants and shopping malls.

Beautiful forest location with wildflowers everywhere. Cozy and well appointed cabins - rustic but with everything you needed. Mauricio is friendly and informative and made sure we were well taken care of.

Mauricio was a wonderful host. Faculties were very clean and comfortable. Meals were good with generous portions. Close to Puerto Arenas airport. For the price exceeded expectations.

Great host

Perfect if you need a stay near the airport. Cosy and warm

Very kind hosts who picked up us at the airport in the middle of the night, despite delayed flights.

We loved staying here. It is a must when visiting Punta Arenas. Our host was so welcoming and kind, the food was fantastic and the room was so cozy and nice. I wish we had more time here!!!

Nothing, it was perfect!

Awesome location, in between airport and punt arenas. Remote and cozy with little standing cottages.

Nothing!

Excellent service: airport pickup (only 10 minutes drive) and they bring you back to the airport anytime. Good meal (we chose fish and salad, delicious). Absolutely quiet at night! Good bed and shower. Totally recommended. This will certainly be the best option in Punta Arenas for a night between two flights, or just a night before or after a flight, or more nights with a rental car.

Friendliness of the staff

The water tasted a bit like copper

Very close to the airport, but very quiet. Mauricio came and picked me up from the airport and made sure I got the the bus stop the next day. I felt like I was at home and well taken care of. 10/10 would stay here again!

Loved to be in the woods before going back to the city life! Very near the airport, compared to Punta Arenas. Cozy wooden cabin atmosphere with wood burning fireplace. Oil electric radiators in the room and vthroom. Plenty of hot water. Nice breakfast, too! Plenty of conversation if you want! Great place. Would defintely go back here if anywhere near

Cant think of anything

We had an incredible stay here. Our host was exceptionally polite, spoke perfect English, and was incredibly knowledgeable about Chile—he could share the history of anything we asked about. He made sure we had plenty of wood for the stove, and he went out of his way to accommodate us with an early, delicious breakfast at 6:30 am before our tour. Dinner was equally wonderful, with outstanding service. The location is also super convenient to the airport, making it perfect for travelers. Highly recommended—we would definitely stay here again!

The kindness and warmth of Mauricio who went out of his way to make us comfortable and thoroughly well looked after - even taking us to and from the airport and making us the most delicious breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for Mauricio and we enjoyed learning about the local area as well as Chile as a whole.

Nothing

Everything about our experience at this property was excellent! It feels like a hidden gem, tucked away in a forest yet close to both the airport and the city centre. The property is all wood and feels like a proper mountain cabin. The rooms are extremely cosy, are a great size and the gas powered heaters help keep them nice and warm. We were greeted by Mauricio, perhaps the friendliest host we have ever had the pleasure of encountering in our years of travelling. Throughout our stay he was extremely accommodating and while he spoke very good English, he also enabled us to practice our Spanish. He made sure we woke up on time and prepared tasty omelettes for us before leaving. He is very knowledgeable about all things Chile and beyond, and our late night discussions with hot tea near the burning fire was one of the highlights of our trips! We felt so good that we chose to stay here again when returning from our hikes in Patagonia a few days later. Even so, we wish we stayed for longer and we look forward to coming back one day.

There is nothing we didn't like about the property itself. One thing to keep in mind is that the property is not in the centre so a car is pretty much required to get to/from it. Also the road to get to it is strangely only paved on one side, and the final access road is unpaved.

This Inn was outstanding in every way. From working with the owner Mauricio on arrangements for pickup from the airport due to changing flight schedules, to early breakfast time because of morning departure he was amazing. So helpful, so friendly, and takes great pride in his home and his attention to detail for his clientele. We felt so fortunate to find this Inn on Booking.com and appreciated all the great reviews helping us decide on staying here. The Inn is perfectly located close to the Punta Arenas airport but feels miles away, on the secluded hillside wooded property, which is beautiful, quiet and the custom hand made lodging is amazing in every detail. We loved our stays there, both coming into Punta Arenas and also the night before return departure. Wish we had more time to relax and enjoy the hospitality, and ambiance. Our room was extremely comfortable and we got great night rests here. Extra Bonus, Mauricio makes a great tasty breakfast, fruit, eggs, toast, juice and his special blend of coffee, simply delicious and perfect for starting the day right.

There were absolutely no negatives, nothing we did not like

The staff was knowledgeable about Chile, its history, and the area. The food was very satisfying and the room / cabin very cozy and quiet.

It was a little hard to find at night. As the name indicates, it is pretty hidden. A small sign would be nice on the road if allowable by the city.

Amazing host

Very quiet lodge surrounded by woods. Very cozy. Mauricio picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. There was a fire going in the living room, which made it very cozy

Nothing

This place is beautiful: cute, charming log cabins located in a secluded forest clearing. When we arrived, my reaction was "wow". The host, Mauricio, was very friendly and helpful. It's a really good base for exploring this part of Chilean Patagonia. We loved staying here and would happily visit again. Highly recommended!

It can be a little bit cold. The location is a bit remote. It wasn't a problem for us as we were renting a car, but it might be inconvenient if you don't have your own transport.

Mauricio picked us up in his own truck and took us to the rental car agency in town the next day. He is very friendly and spent much time making us feel comfortable and talking with us.

The water runs cold for some time.

The exceptionnel welcome and customer service, the pick up at the airport , the delicious diner, the evening near the fireplace and the warmth of the place!!!

Nothing

Mauricio is easily one of the friendliest and most helpful people I met. The house is located in a beautiful forest, very close to the airport. The host picks you up and drops you off if you need. The rooms are super clean and have everything you need. The house is also decorated with local art and historical photos. It is a very peaceful place! I even saw a lesser horned owl, which was amazing. I also ordered dinner, which was super healthy and tasty. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Host was amazingly kind and friendly. We really enjoyed talking with him and he picked us up from the airport and took us to the rental car agency. The house is tucked away in the forest--so quiet and yet only 8 minutes drive from the airport!

This place is great! Honestly a hidden gem. Serene and peaceful. Dinner was one of the best meals we had on our whole trip. The two gentlemen that were working were so considerate. We were exhausted after spending 3 nights in Torres del Paine so we snuggled into our bed for a few hour nap and woke up to a steak and potatoes meal! The house is immaculate and the craftsmanship is next level.

Nothing

Super friendly and communicative host. Authentic house is in the woods, beautifully handmade in really nice surroundings.

It would have been nice if there had been a washingmachine (in the subscription it says there should be a wash & tumble dryer)

Mauricio was an excellent host. I was well looked after and had everything I needed. He was very helpful with the logistics of my trip. I had a car, which is helpful for this property but there were other guests without one, so it seems to be doable. I had a great time and the hospitality of the host was fantastic. I hope to return again someday.

Na

We stayed for two nights at La Casa Escondida after hiking in Torres del Paine Nationalpark and we felt immediately at home. Mauricio was a great host and made sure we weren’t missing anything. The room and kitchen were very clean. Breakfast was amazing as well as the dinners which you have to pay extra, but to a fair price. Best part is to live in a cozy wood house with ovens surrounded by a forest.

Nothing, we would definitely come back!

Mauricio, the host, is extremely welcoming and helpful. The hotel is delightful. Everything is made of wood and tastefully decorated. It's warm, comfortable, and cosy. It's less than a 10 minute drive from the airport, and Mauricio will pick you up or drop you off there any time you need. If you need to go to Punta Arenas, you can easily order an Uber. Central Punta Arenas is only about a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Highly recommended!

Nothing!

The staff were amazing! Very friendly and helpful and made me feel comfortable. The location was beautiful and the breakfast was wonderful.

The owner was so communicative the owner was right up until the day we arrived, she was so hospitable when we arrived late from our flight and gave us a glass of wine, and the cabin we stayed in had a log fire burning ready for us.

We used it as a one night stopover - very rural and rustic which was what we were prepared for. We loved it - others might not.

Maurizo was wonderful, picked up us from the airport, fed us breakfast, and took us back to the airport. All in like 9 hrs. He helped us make a busy itinerary possible.

Amazing spot away from the crowd with high standards facilities ! We had a wonderful stay in this fabulous cosy place, perfect to visit Punta Arenas between two flights. An incredibly helpful staff and great recommendations from Mauricio. The room was very comfy with a beautiful view on the woods. Delicious breakfast with fresh products 🤩 Free rides from and to the airport is really a plus.

It was close to the airport and the host was there to pick us up. We arrived late but were able to arrange for a delicious dinner. The home is quite attractive and unique, with handmade wood furniture and thoughtful decorations. Breakfast was excellent with genuine drip coffee! Mauricio was a friendly and generous host.

It was a bit cold, but did have a cheery fire we could sit in front of.

We were met upon arrival at the airport and transferred (about 5 minutes) to Las Casa Escondida. It was like an unexpected oasis in the forest, clean fresh crisp air and surrounded by mature trees. The room was nice with comfortable bed and good shower. Rather than being a fancy place to stay, it had the "Up North log cabin-type charm" which really appealed to us. Breakfasts were really tasty and home-cooked. We purchased dinner for the two nights we stayed and those meals really exceeded our expectations. Be sure to arrange dinner before you arrive directly with La Casa Escondida. You'll be glad you did. La Casa Escondida is about 15 minutes from town. We did arrange with "Amigo Mo" (manager of Escondida) to take us for a few hour tour of Punta Arenas. We appreciated the hospitality of Amigo Mo. He was very friendly and provided a lot of insight and information on the area and Chile in general. We very much enjoyed our stay and highly recommend staying here!

Everything was perfect!

La Casa Escondida is a very charming and unique place. The host was very welcoming and gave us a ride to the airport early in the morning after preparing us a great breakfast. Our room was so clean and quiet with a nice view of the woods which was very relaxing.

Mauricio went above and beyond to help us. He was so helpful and friendly and so flexible and accommodating. He really is the most hospitable host we've ever experienced. The cabin was very nice, I just loved the wood construction and the way they were built. The breakfast was perfect every morning and I wish we had been around to have more dinners, they were delicious. Everything really was amazing and Mauricio was truly the best host.

La Casa Escondida was a fantastic stay. A beautiful wooden building and location with a wood fire and home cooking, and Mauricio could not have been more helpful during the entirety of our stay - and happy to chat and share his knowledge. He drove us everywhere we needed to be at all times, included in the price. We were so comfortable here and I would come back in a heartbeat.

The only negative was that the WiFi was a bit slow and short reach.

The host was exceptional. We look forward to staying there again

Staying longer

Dinner was delicious! Like a true home cooked meal! We enjoyed the breakfasts as well. Really felt cozy and at home. Beautiful place.

Friendly staff, very helpful and nice breakfast. Picking us at airport was a plus.

The host was the most gracious host we have ever encountered. Always attentive, eager to please and great conversationalist. He made the stay worth going back - a truly remarkable man. The facility was charming and unique - built by the host!! At the price a wonderful value. He offers shuttle to and from airport and great insights on the local area.

Nothing

Beautiful place, immaculately clean, the host was a pleasure to talk to and super attentive. Very comfy bed, excellent view, private rooms and comfortable wherever you were in the house, good pressure in the showers, the rooms and house are meticulously crafted and detailed. Just all in all a really great experience!

It was wonderful! The breakfast and dinner were outstanding. The room had a great view of the woods. The staff was extremely efficient and went out of their way to accommodate any needs we had.
