Reviewed Aug 14, 2026Das Frühstück war sehr gut, wir waren mit dem Service rundum zufrieden. Die Lage ist zwar mitten in Porlock, aber es war trotzdem ruhig in der Nacht. Wir hatten immer einen Parkplatz im Hof. Chris war ein sehr aufmerksamer Gastgeber.

Reviewed Aug 4, 2026Chris & Claire zijn super vriendelijke hosts. Ze willen je met alles helpen. Gezellige woonkamer waar de koffie en thee klaarstaat voor je. Ook op je kamer staat een thermoskan met melk voor je klaar en alle koffie en thee wordt dagelijks bijgevuld
Bed is aan de krappe kant. Ontbijt zou wat uitgebreider mogen. Echt vers fruit ipv blik en verse yoghurt ipv verpakte yoghurtjes.

Clare and Chris were brilliant hosts, there whenever you needed them but never pushy like some can be, they are full of useful information on where to go and what to see. we had some good chats. There was an amazing choice for breakfast with locally sourced produce and a great selection of local Jams etc. Our Room was lovely, very comfortable and we saw some lovely sunsets with House Martins nesting just above our window. You have to remember that this B&B cottage is very old so there are no straight floors or walls but no end of Charm and Character to every room. The Location is perfect for sight seeing no matter what your interests are. We did plenty of walking while we were here and Chris can point out some good footpaths too.
There was nothing we didnt like at all, apart from the fact that we had to leave. But we can thoroughly recommend this as a wonderful place to stay with great hosts and a lovely village feel

Car parking was a bit of a lottery - there were reserved parking spaces but locals were somewhat untidy in blocking the access road and parking in designated no-parking areas, which itself made access to The Cottage’s spaces difficult if not impossible (I stress that this is no fault of the owners of The Cottage).

Tiny B&B on the Main Street of Porlock. Front rooms look out directly over the street; superior room at the back of the house looks out on parking lot and car repair garage. Carpet in the room was dirty and stained. Furniture in the room was tired and outdated.

Reviewed May 22, 2026This is our 2nd stay at The Cottage. The facilities and location for accessing the SWCP are ideal. This visit didn't disappoint. The hosts are lovely, friendly and helpful, the breakfast is delicious again, and the facilities are clean and comfortable. They have thought of everything you could need for a night away.

It would have been nice to have been able to check in a little earlier and for power sockets to have been more accessible for phone charging etc. Whilst the location of the property is very central to Porlock, with many places nearby to eat/drink. There was a lot of noise until quite late from the outside tables of the pub opposite. My room was at the back of the building and I was still kept awake. I wouldn’t have wanted a bedroom at the front of the property. Shower being situated within the actual bedroom was a little odd, but it didn’t smell too much of damp as a result.

Reviewed May 2, 2026De locatie is heel fijn. In Porlock Weir vond ik geen onderdak meer, maar hier wel. Je loopt over een prachtig bospad zo naar Porlock toe. De ontvangst was heel hartelijk. De kamer comfortabel. In Porlock is een supermarktje waar je je lunchpakket voor de volgende dag kunt regelen.

Reviewed Apr 12, 2026The location was perfect for coast path walking and The Cottage conveniently situated in the centre of Porlock with pubs and shops nearby. Very cosy and comfortable interior, warm welcome from the hosts, quiet at night and delicious breakfast.
There was nothing we didn’t like. Only very slight niggle was the shower in the bedroom rather than in a separate bathroom.

Reviewed Sep 20, 2025This was my second visit to Porlock and The Cottage. I was there in 2023 and would visit again! The location on Hight St was convenient and the historic property is charming. I enjoyed my walks around the village and down to Porlock Weir for meals and drinks at the other inns. Chris and Clare are wonderful hosts and the breakfast at The Cottage is excellent.
My room overlooked the car park and garage in back, so while the view wasn't stellar, being on the quiet side made for a good night's sleep. The carpet could have used a cleaning.
