Le cadre, l'emplacement.
The house has a fantastic location close to the loch, the rooms are a good size and the breakfast was unusual but good.
Difficulty to summarise we weren’t overly disappointed but weren’t impressed either, yes it’s a family home, a b&b not a hotel but for the price there is an expectation of a certain level that I didn’t feel was met. For an example….. the bath towels were small, thin basically awful, not the biggest issue just poor. It would also have been nice to have meet the hosts.
Spacious, estate
Breakfast choices
Stanza molto grande e ben arredata. Colazione preparata al momento.

Linda casa histórica na beira do lago Torridon. Bem conservada.

Really stunning location and a fabulous property
We were hoping to find a home with a warm welcome from the family and a comfortable stay as described on their website What we received was a lukewarm warm welcome from a lady who clearly managed check in. Our room, whilst comfortable, needed a little more attention to detail. Bedding was un-ironed as was the table cloth in our room. The towels were worn and really need replacing Whilst we fully accepted that food was not available in the evening, with the property being so far from the nearest village, an honesty bar and a lounge area would have made a huge difference Breakfast was certainly a unique experience. A choice of either granola or cornflakes. No fruit, yogurt or toast. Then, the lady we met at check in appeared with the most odd selection of food on an individual plate for each of us, consisting of a par-baked roll, croissant, 1 1/2 cherry tomatoes and two slices of mozzarella. There was also a very small flan like dish which I’m afraid I struggle to eat or describe We were really hoping to like our stay but after feeling like uninvited guests I’m afraid we will not be returning
Very special building and location

Lovely house
Beautiful surroundings Peaceful and quiet Splendid old mansion Delicious breakfast
Nothing
This is a beautiful old house on an old estate. Our room was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast was good though there wasn’t a lot of choice.
Parts of the house that are not for guests are hugely messy giving the feeling that you’re camped out in someone’s home rather then staying in a professionally managed place. Road to reach the hotel is quite bumpy
Large room, comfortable bed
Isolated, nothing at all to do in room. Seemed like staying in someone’s home with personal items lying around property
Struttura molto bella, ma necessità di manutezione. OK tutto il resto.
Colazione un pò scarsa.

Leaving it behind
Fire alarms at 4:15am, 6:20am and half way through breakfast. No one checking that people were safely out during any of the alarms going off. A breakfast, where an alleged quiche was so microwaved that it resembled expandable foam in look and texture, NO ONE tried to eat the inedible. Plenty of messages before our arrival but not one reply about our concerns and complaints. Booking.com couldn’t get them to reply either. Utter contempt from owners, not to mention the serious health and safety issues.

Huge rooms very comfortable bed, new bathroom
Interesting stay in an estate building with a long history. Large spacious room. A lot of potential (with some investments).
Outdated interior design, not in line with the historical building. Heating by small electrical stoves. Single glas windows. The room above us, was quite noisy during the evening and the night (moving furniture, hard steps on the wooden floors).
The peace
Midges......! It took ages to find the correct switch to heat the hot water. The microwave symbols for the program setting had been worn off, hard to use. Same with the dishwasher, the lights for the programs didn't work. But all in all, a great stay.
The breakfast was good. The rooms were very large.
The grounds were not kept up. The room was large but not well laid out. There is no way to use an electrical appliance such as curling iron or hair dryer and be able to see in a mirror. Besides the breakfast area, there were no comfortable common areas outside the rooms.
This place is very special and full of history. The drive up to the Estate is beautiful through the woods. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The rooms we stayed in was comfortable and overlooked the river.Breakfast was ok just enough to start off your day and really nice to sit at the big table with other travellers.I would defo recommend this property as its unique.
I would really have liked have known about the history of the Estate through some kind of information booklet .As travellers want to know the background of such a wonderful hidden gem.
What a wonderful surprise to spend the night in a castle! Staying at Torridon Estate B&B was a truly memorable experience. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable and well equipped, with very comfortable beds that ensured a great night’s sleep. The staff were charming, welcoming and discreet, making us feel well looked after throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious and freshly prepared to order, which was the perfect way to start the day. A unique place full of character that we would happily recommend to anyone visiting the Highlands!
Bijzondere locatie
Nice comfortable, roomy lodge in beautiful location.
Poor communication from hosts. Welcome message said key would be in the door but it wasn’t. Tried to call contact number given in welcome message but no answer. Tried contact number on booking.com which was answered to be informed key was actually in key safe with code required. I sent a message the following day about some small issues (bag of rubbish on ground outside, cigarette butts round hot tub, shower not draining). None of these were major problems but nothing was done and I didn’t even receive an acknowledgement to my message.
The property itself is old and charming. Once we got to our room, one of the two rooms we reserved was spacious. Both were clean, and the beds were comfortable. That's where it ends.
The property and overall guest experience need improvement. This isn't about the age of the building - the common areas were messy and neglected. The small sitting area consisted of a few chairs, was not kept up, the lawn was unkempt, and the yard had old cars and messy toys scattered around. There was no staff in sight, and no water or refreshments were available anywhere. This is a remote location - Not having some of these things is an issue after a long day of travel. Breakfast was the worst I've experienced at a B&B: no coffee, only hot water and a few tea bags, cereal served in a shared communal bowl with a pitcher of milk, and a bowl of apples. We walked in and walked out, as did every other guest we saw enter the room. I also want to note that when I booked this trip, I sincerely believed it was part of the Torridon Hotel, which is actually four miles away (and where I had dinner reservations). Overall, I was disappointed. There is so much potential here that just does not hit the mark as is.
The room itself was of a descent size and the furnitue in keeping with the property, bathroom had all required and comfortable. Fairly remote away from the village centre so very peaceful.
The room was cold on arrival and took a while to heat up, due to it's location amenities where a good drive away and close early, would be good if they provided a fridge in the room so you could have some food with you for the evening if not able to get a meal out due to timings. Wifi dropped out most of the evening which is frustrating as no other means to keep entertained in the evening at the manor. Breakfast was not of my peferrence as the bread and pastry were overbaked and not eatable, unfortunately apart from its location, it would not be somewhere I would stay again.
Plenty of space.
Weird smell around the place. Needed more people. The grounds need more care and cleaning. We missed the outdoor space to sit in.
The location is very nice, the castle too. The rooms are big.
No hot water ... We had to shower with cold water. The breakfast is very (too) basic for that price. The castle is very noisy, it was not possible to sleep before midnight because music was playing loudly. You can hear everything so make sure to bring some earplugs... Again, not worth it considering the price.
Very well equipped and comfortable cottage. The bed was especially good.
Perfect location. Pleasant staff. The estate itself.
The inability to lower water temperature in the shower.
The location is perfect and scenery breathtaking, the old house is a home too, so many thanks for sharing this experience.
Sometimes scenery involves a trek, the approach to the house is along a long single track road but don't let this put you off as the house is so full of character and worth a bumpy few minutes.
Stunning location and grounds. Beautiful old estate
I have nothing bad to say about this place
Le cadre
Manoir vieillissant, moyennement bien équipé Pas de salle commune
Impressive house beside the loch. Quite remote meaning it’s peaceful. Lovely breakfast served in the very grand dining room. It’s a grand family home and huge - it would be great if tours of the house were offered to see it all!
It’s a long drive to any restaurants but we were pre warned about that.
Pokój piękny i przestronny. Śniadanie bardzo dobre
Problem z ustawieniem wody pod prysznicem.
Character and old world charm. Clearly once a grand stately home and estate.
Don't expect a traditional Scottish breakfast. Although it looked very nicely presented, I don't like cheese and feta was the main part. Although that is my personal taste, no alternative seemed to be on offer.
The house was lovely the room was very spacious the bed was really comfortable the bathroom was also a good size
The road down to it was very narrow and long nothing really around we had to drive for 25mins to get some food and the gluten free options at breakfast were non existent I would have liked to see a mirror in the room for doing my hair and make up as the bathroom mirror was unavailable due to my husband being in the shower and the cobwebs around the ceiling were rather a lot the fact that no one seemed to know what gluten was as well was concerning I think they need to get clued up on food intolerances as it’s quite important
Very nice location
We had read the previous reviews and looked forward to our stay. It did not disappoint . Cheerful welcoming from the hosts. Our stay was very enjoyable : old country estate vibes .
Breakfast could have been more plain- bread cheese and ham .
Prima locatie en kamer.
Very interesting property, would return in the future. Quiet dark room with window shutters, great
I left after 1 night of 2 booked. Supposedly forfeiting the second, very expensive night. I did not like the olace
Great location
Nothing
Für Liebhaber"alter"Sachen ein perfekter Ort! Wunderbar zum Entspannen und Genießen. Ruhig und idyllisch gelegen. Nette Gastgeber - Super Service.
Great breakfast, delivered by a lovely host. The estate looks amazing. Comfy beds.
Unfortunately the water didn't work properly, and the location is quite remote from dinner places or (hiking) activities
Good size for 6 adults
Midges but that's Scotland
Nothing
No running water , run down facilities , breakfast was poor and the driveway is ridiculous with holes and mud for a surface.
Like many other reviews it’s hard to quantify this place. It’s a once grand house, showing its age yet very quirky and that is in many ways its charm. It is slightly surreal staying there and meeting the owner who lives there with his family and who is very engaging.
It is in need of some TLC, and it is a drive rather than walk to get in to the village
We had such an enjoyable one night stay filled with music and merriment. The rooms are spacious and beautifully set and the hosts and staff were lovely. With marvelous Torridon as a backdrop it was a wonderful time
Quirky and very interesting, also clean and comfortable. Lovely setting.
Perhaps the breakfast could have been better.
Room was a good size but the breakfast was a little strange.
Nothing
Loved this place...huge mansion type building in amazing grounds with old fashioned rooms...Felix was an amazing host...even got a welcome from the horses...fantastic big breakfast table that all the guests sat around so that encouraged guests to conversewith each other, a pleasant change. Lovely breakfast too...
Everything was good...
Rien
Rooms and beds were good. The water to drink was suspicious as my husband and I got sick before and after leaving, for a good 9 days. Our two other friends drank bottled water and had no problems. The kitchen was acceptable with enough useable items, knives for cutting were poor. We had no TV as it hadn’t been checked before we came. Also the key for the front door was hard to open and one day we had to call to get it opened. The only other thing would be a book for information on the area and the apartment. If you sleep upstairs you may have a hard time getting into the tub as it is on a platform. If you want to use it as a shower there is a handheld wand but then you have to watch it doesn’t go all over the floor. The driveway is tricky, as it is a one lane road, windy and if you run into anybody you are backing up a long way.
Signage for the place and better instructions for entry when you get there. The place is in the middle of no where and takes awhile to get anywhere, so you have to like being lonely.
Setting was great Lovely room
No variety at breakfast for those stopping more than 1 night Family relaxed feeling No offer of milk/tea coffee top up as we stayed 2 nights . Got impression people stay only 1 night
We went to the property but decided not to stay. There was a party going on with live music.
This is a family home with a party going on when we arrived. We decided not to stay.
Beautiful property, nice location.
Very early checking out. You get tired walking on that land up and down. You want sleep and get out of bed bit late. But we have leave house at sharp 10:00. Because clear we’re there
The location was absolutely stunning and we had a picnic alongside the loch. Great hosts who welcomed us in to their home.
Lovely setting and grounds great potential
Abit too “quirky” for us but clean and comfortable room Rooms haven’t been renovated as far as we could tell Electricity struggled (couldn’t boil kettle) Property obviously needs work still and we understand that but was expensive compared to other stays for same price. Very much a family home that rents out rooms
Lovely old house, great location for views
Could hear ever cough, conversation, door close. No carpets so sound carried. No choice for breakfast. No water pressure for shower.
Torridon estate was quirky and magical, different to anywhere else we’d stayed and in the most beautiful location.
Nothing to dislike about it.
Was such a cool place to stay and loverly family and really nice breakfast
It was everything we needed. Had been before, was our second stay. Hot tub is magic
The bridge to the property is pretty steep for my low car (grounded on fist go) - but was fine if all the passengers got out and walked across
This cottage had outstanding views, nearly 180 degrees. The accommodation was lovely, the kitchen well fitted out with a washing machine, dishwasher and microwave. We had this cottage for 3 nights and on our arrival the cottage was a little cold but not for long as the log fire went on straight away. It is so peaceful and quiet, just perfect. The master bed is up stairs and I had my ‘Princess and the pea’ moment! The bath tub also up here and is enormous! But the views are just stunning. Our stay was very pleasant and our base was very useful to visit local points of interest.
Slightly more remote than first thought, however we enjoyed this a lot and was a great reset in amongst our nc500 trip. Log burner was appreciated (and the sofa was huge!). Didn’t use the hot tub due to midges on eves we were there. Would happily return. Thank you.
A lovely old house on a beautiful estate. Our room was spacious and the breakfast was good.
The house felt very cold when we arrived and we had a problem with the heater in our room, which did get resolved.
Location is amazing Rooms huge.
Rooms not very soundproof.
Breakfast was very disappointing. For a Scottish experience, there was no traditional breakfast.
Location was amazing
The breakfast
Absolutely stunning location and house couldn't of asked for a better stay.
Nothing
What a find, very Scottish throughout. The owners were lovely and very helpful and did everything to make our stay fab. Rooms were amazing and breakfast was fantastic.
The water quality was a bit of putting as it’s slightly brown, but we assured it was ok.
Stunning location and very ‘qwerky’ country pile. Lots of family clutter everywhere which was funny. Big room, great views and very clean
A TV would have been nice and the WiFi was a bit flaky Breakfast was odd. It just appears, no choice, no traditional fry up! 5pm seemed a late check in v all our other stays on our trip
The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Bathroom had all facilities required.
Sea view room - completely obscured by trees so no sea view. Floors were wooden only. People in room above were walking about their room with lots of loud bangs and dragging sounds. Then they proceeded to have an argument which we could hear plainly. Eventually it went quiet sometime after midnight. We were kept awake due the noise throughout the night until it went quiet. Underneath our window was a barbeque with discarded food wrappers thrown into it. The garden area was untidy and littered with pop up tents and other items. Very disappointed with the stay.
Wonderful remote location, quirky and interesting.
The location is remote and down a pretty bad road. The main house was a little more run down than the website pictures led me to believe. The actual room was big, clean and very nice. There was no TV in the room.
This is not the fault of the property but, if you are like me and do not read all the details sufficiently in advance, you may go hungry. The property is very remote and there are very limited sources of food within many miles of the property. They did warn me of this but I did not act sufficiently in advance and tried to book a table for 2 at the only near by restaurant on the day and it was already fully booked. The local shop was shut and so we went to bed sharing a packet of crisps from the car. Plan ahead better than me or go hungry!
